insom.games/careers Animator James Ham explains that the people and ownership of his work are what he loves about working at Insomniac Games. When will you join us? #Insomniac25
Even if they didn't disagree with the ethics, that travel ban had a negative impact on their business. They shouldn't be afraid of speaking out when they're still successful and pumping out well-received games. Right wing trolls aren't going to be what makes or breaks them.
Birthnote the thought that the travel ban would have effected them at all is laughable. And plus think how it would have felt to be an employee that agreed with the travel ban and didn't want to be in the video. They either only hire people that agree with their politics, or they bullied everyone of their employees to be in the video. It was an overall bad idea that will stick with them for a while.
@@trapez77 Laughable huh? Then why did multiple gaming and tech companies speak out against the ban citing how it affects their businesses in addition to being unconstitutional, discriminatory, etc? venturebeat.com/2017/01/28/game-developers-rally-against-trumps-muslim-ban/ Also the ESA: www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2017/01/30/esa-issues-statement-on-trump-immigration-ban.aspx And don't forget Insomniac's words on the matter: *"We at Insomniac Games stand united in strongly opposing President Trump's immigration ban. There's no question that these orders will HARM US AS A COMPANY and many of our team members. So we ask: is this the American way? Is discriminating based on religious faith or national origin American?"* What was laughable was the droves of people pledging to never give Insomniac a dime, only for Spider-Man to become one of their most profitable games if not *the* most profitable. To assume some of their employees aren't from those countries is quite frankly, silly.
@@trapez77 That doesn't add up. Even before Trump came along, the US was *remarkably* strict on immigration and had extensive vetting protocols for citizenship that took 7 years on average. Obama deported like there was no tomorrow and set a record that only Trump has broken. Trump has hyped up a boogeyman that the US was already taking care of in flying colors. This conversation went from (paraphrasing of course) 'That's laughably not true' to 'Well, it might be true but still!'. Fact of the matter is despite the "backlash" Insomniac's doing better than ever thanks to an excellent game and tons of goodwill, communication and feedback. There's no use holding a grudge against them for speaking out as it had no effect other than mean comments online, which got overshadowed *hard* by the praise they've been getting since last September.
