Water has throughout history been as great of a divider as it has a connector, so how does a country divided by water like Indonesia connect itself together?

In a nutshell, Indonesia is a country with the largest muslim population in the world, the largest buddhist temple in the world, was colonized by a christian nation, and having a hindu-majority Island as the most famous tourist destination.

@@byron-ih2ge lol it was complicated, the buddhist and hindus came then build massive temple, then islams came and basically just collapse the remaining buddhist and hindu kingdom, then the christian arrive (basically most of western europe) and try to colonize it and only the dutch finish it after hundreds of years of conquest (yes i know my country Indonesia is colonized for 3 and a half centuries but still it finish prob late 19 century or early 20th century because some kingdoms is still exist until very end of 19th century like aceh and batak kingdom), then japan came and do "resource extraction" , then we declare our independence in 1945 and became recognised on the 50's and in 1962 we just conquer what rest of dutch colony (western new guinea) and on 1975 just annexed timor leste who got it independence back in 2002 this is basically Indonesian history without the complicated budhist and hindu kingdom + dutch colonialization effort Edit: changed some japannese things and added some on the collapse of buddhist and hindu kingdoms

@@lixobounce6588 Not really. The Japanese wanted to gear Indonesia for war, the Dutch wanted to make us a Colony. That's why the Dutch build roads and educate the upper class. They kept the KNIL mostly Dutch, and limited to keep stability. They gave education to an upper class so that one day, they could have a loyal ruling elite, with an efficient administration. The Japanese had no interest in making Indonesia a colony. They are gearing Indonesian resources for war. That's why thousands of people were conscripted for labor in the Romusha and were shipped to Burma. That's why they established PETA to prepare and arm Indonesian volunteers. Their encouragement of Indonesian Nationalist movements mainly to garner support instead of securing an actual independence. Of Course, both regime were not great, but to say that the Japanese are better, because they promised us Independence is rather misleading.

Indonesia geography is both blessing and curse, it's a blessing because it's located on a very strategic ship lane with Big Resources on it's land and sea. But it also a curse since it mean the cost of infrastructure development is insanely expensive compare to the country in the mainland.

I've been to Indonesia in 2015 & 2018. I visited Indonesia with the aim of exploring and adventuring, not for vacation or honeymoon. However, I have not explored Indonesia 100% because it is vast and also very diverse. Each region in Indonesia has different tourist or natural attractions, as if entering a different dimension. It's hard to explain, the point is when you go to Indonesia, what you visit with other regions in Indonesia is definitely different. What made me so interested in Indonesia? The answer is nature, because nature in Indonesia has very clear differences in each region. Some even look strange, unique and absurd and there are lots of hidden places to explore. For me, Indonesia is very suitable to be used as a place for adventure, explorers and get unexpected experiences. My personal conclusion about Indonesia : Indonesia is like a very beautiful Queen, very graceful, very charming, very attractive, very stunning and very cool. However, keep in mind that although the Queen almost looks perfect, on the other hand the Queen also has a dangerous nature (Many natural disasters in Indonesia have been recorded internationally and even get the title of the most frequent and the most violent, Queen appears completely different from the others). When the Queen is asleep, the Queen looks extraordinary and fun to approach but if the Queen wakes up from her sleep, it is certain that there will be a sign of danger because the Queen is in a tantrum. You can see the damage caused by Queen in Indonesia by typing a search "Natural Disasters in Indonesia" or you can look on Wikipedia (There are many written lists of events). Note : Although Queen often tantrums when she wakes up from her sleep, this is what made me fall in love because of her very different figure. Be careful with the forces of nature because we don't know when and where the Queen rages. Because if the Queen has gone berserk then she doesn't know tourists or locals. I can only hope that the Queen doesn't run amok and doesn't harm locals or tourists. Amen. 🙏 Every tourist will have a different experience when visiting Queen, The Queen desire to go berserk is also an adventure, so I want to return to being beside the Queen because the Queen has everything (Super mega diversity) to gain experience and knowledge that is unusual for a tourist like me. Indonesia is more towards the category of tourist attractions for adventure and exploration. Not just for a honeymoon or relaxing because you will definitely lose something unique, strange, interesting and unreasonable in Indonesia as an experience and learning. It was the experience I felt. When you have explored several adventures in Indonesia be it volcanoes, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, jungles, caves and etc. (it's up to their own version, because there are too many to explore), although you will be tired but it is very satisfying and enjoyable. pleasant. of course get a different experience so that your experience can be told like mine. It should be noted that not all tourists who venture to Indonesia are successful, there are also those who fail miserably because of the act of the Queen who woke up from her sleep. The Queen of Mother Earth in Indonesia is so satisfying even though she often throws tantrums. Such is the explanation of the true definition of the word Queen because it has the will and strength according to its own will. Be grateful for those of you who have a place of adventure that is so vast and diverse in nature (not man-made) that foreign tourists like me too can have fun there to explore, learn, know and feel. Indonesia is a very suitable place for tourists who want to try a different trip or vacation. Traveling to Indonesia brings me joy, pleasure, satisfaction, anxiety, sadness, fatigue and confusion. All in one and that is what is called a very interesting and colorful journey, Indonesia does not only offer about buildings or nightclubs. Indonesia is much crazier with its unique and strange nature. I love Indonesia ❤️ (Mysterious Queen Land).

Only small part is a forest, because the capital needs city forest to reduce carbon emission. The forest is also part of government-owned land and has no protected or conservated animals in there.

@gtdmg489

Good thing. Those who debated the issue overlooked the fact that most of the forest in the area is already gone, thus making the animals to migrate to western forest which is under government conservation and protection.

I love the meaning Indonesia's main islands. Sumatra, some said is derived from Swarnadwipa which means the Island of Gold as back then it's thought to have a large gold reserve when it's just weirdly wealthy because of its kingdom. Java is derived from Yavadwipa, which means Island of Seeds. It boasted it's specialty of ancient time- agriculture. Kalimantan, as seen in video, is derived from Kalimantan, which roughly means Burning Weather Island not precisely because it's hot and humid, but because when the weather changed to and the wind brought the hot air from Australia, the island is quite prone to have a forest fire, even from the ancient time. Sulawesi means Island of Iron, as from ancient time till now, this island boasted its iron mine and production. I seem to remember they used to have a lot of blacksmith there. Papua means "curly" in Malay, but according to another local language near the island, Papua means "The land beneath the setting sun"

Few weeks ago, indonesian government changed the status of separatist movement in indonesia's papua from "armed chriminal group" to "terorist group" due to their action that resemble terorism and spreading fear among papuan comunity Days before indonesian government decided to mark them as terorist group, the Free West Papua armed group killing unarmed civilians Two teachers, a highschool student and an ojek driver (public transportation using motorbike) and using several villages as hostage. Due to their hostile nature, villagers around puncak jaya regency that close to the hostage village decided not to go far from their house, because they are afraid that if they meet with those armed criminals, they may be killed. Because of this, the villagers are heavily dependend to government support and unable to cultivate their field due to the fear that FWP gave to them. After indonesian government declare military campaign to annihiliate the separatist group and liberate the villages, villagers then have enough confidence to cultivate their field and they celebrate it with comunal harvest since that was harvest time for some of the crops like watermelon, carrot and vegetables

But the ruler of Mataram Kingdom at that time is a wise man and already evacuate his citizens to east side of java. So when we tried to dig the site, there's no death bodies. But from archaeological finding it's likely to be a sudden evacuation. Because many foods like rice have been left. interesting video, but the video should be a little longer and mention more of the historical advantages and disadvantages. weird you did not mention Krakatoa volcano when in 1883 it made the loudest sound ever on earth.

Interesting that you dint mention “kampongs” or “kampungs’ Theyre a major part of how low density areas work. Plus, most of the high rises on indonesia is in Jakarta so pretty much every other city in Indonesia (including mine which is called Solo, or Surakarta) is devoid of high rises, except for a minor few so kampungs are a really major part of how most cities work, or the Outer ring of Jakarta works and looks like.

I get used to think that “Indonesia is not really that big” until I see the map of the archipelago superimposed on top of Europe. The distance between Medan and Jayapura roughly the same with the distance between Paris and Teheran. It would be one hell of a journey to explore the entirety of this nation.

@@andriwahyudani1302 that considered cheap actually. That's a normal price to fly from East Kalimantan to West Java, i.e if you took the cheapest one it costs around 1.1 Million IDR on avg and if you use the white blue one it costs you at least 1.9 Mil IDR or if you're unlucky you'll have to pay around 2.2 Mil. That's like a year ago though... idk abt now.

For the new capital city; I must say that "Nagari Rimba Nusa" is not its future official name, since the new capital city still has no official name yet. The name "Nagari Rimba Nusa" is actually the name of the city design from some urban planning firm that won the New National Capital Contest (Sayembara Ibu Kota Baru) from the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) in 2019. The National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), also in 2019, has clarified that the new capital will only serve as a seat of government like Washington DC is, while Jakarta will remain the economic centre of Indonesia.

The "ngi" sound in Singapore Changi Airport is pronounced not exactly like but similar to the French "gn" sound in Champignon". Also while Singapore doesn't have a land border with Indonesia, it used to be part of a kingdom that is formed in what was once simultaneously Indonesia (Riau islands), Singapore (Pulau Ujong) and Malaysia (Johor) called Riau-Lingga. Edit: it was just the Johor sultanate not Riau-Lingga

Riau lingga never once had Johor and Singapore. The agreement in which Riau Lingga sovereignity was first recognized by europan power was anglo dutch treaty of 1824. The treaty divided the Johor sultanate into 5. Under Dutch influence: Sutanate of Indragiri (in mainland Sumatra) Sultanate of Riau Lingga (in Riau Islands) Under British influence: Singapore (governed by british empire) Sultanate of Johor Sultanate of Pahang

Lack of income has meant I haven't been back since December 2011. Miss the place very much. Prefer there than here in South West Sydney. Maybe my friend living next door to Bogor Botanical Gardens can pull a few strings to get me back there soon. I could feed carrots to the kijang in his yard.
