Well, if I remember why he didn't went to jail after court, the awnster is that he left a note at the crime scence to explain what happened. It's like a confession and a pardon for the accident.

I watch this movie with my family yearly, ever since I was little. I'm currently stuck abroad in the UK, so I won't be able to spend the holidays with them. It's really nice to see this review pop up.

Santa is a menace to society in this version who needs to be stopped. Like, damn, he keeps racking up crimes left and right

I haven’t even watched the video but the thumbnail has awakened a dEEP memory. Like I saw this ONCE as a child and the song and the movie is seared into my brain.

That grandpa is sus as hell As I understood the restaurant scene. He literally gets up in a public space and sings a song about his dead wife. Not a dirge, or an elegy mind you, but straight up talking about all the sex she is having in heaven with dead celebrities. He is never seen mourning or worried over his dead partner. Wtf? Who is this man? Why did grandma not divorce him? What kind of dark secrets is this family hiding?

They went out of their way to show the big metal thing that connects the harnesses to the sleigh is specifically what she takes to the Head. Friggin brutal.

My mom and I say “hi!” We’re stuck watching this movie at least once a year lol

I feel bad for everybody involved with this movie from the Actors to the Animators you can tell they worked for this and it all amounted to being a forgotten film

You've just never had the right kind of fruitcake. Most commercial fruitcakes are super dry to be marketable to everyone, but a proper tradtional fruitcake is soaked in rum. This keeps it soft and moist as well as prevents it from getting freezerburn if you choose to store it away. It adds its own flavor and enhances the flavor of the candied fruit. Its sad that fruitcake gets a bad rap when its not proper fruitcake most people are thinking about. Its like someone hating all burgers because they some gross fast food one.

There really is something just... Oddly fascinating about this movie.

Movies based off of songs are so...interesting. the "Story Break" podcast is great with taking ridiculous ideas and turning them into full movies pitches While I don't think "just for kids" content NEEDS depth, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Chronicles of Narnia, and Pixar movies definitely show that you CAN have depth also, perfect outfit color-coordination

11:38 -You would be surprised how many murders get pinned on Santa! In fact..a couple decades ago there was this guy..I think his name was Al..well anyway, he was spreading rumors that Santa went postal! A lot of weirdos out that trying to turn the authorities on the poor old guy in red!

I absolutely love this movie I watch it every year I used to to watch it with my grandmother every Christmas she passed away in 2017 but I still watch it every year in her memory it's one of my favorite Christmas movies

Personally i think the end of that trial was a joke. I could elaborate as to why, but for sake of time I'll boil it down to the two little sticking points- The, convicting "evidence" Jake submitted, (or rather claimed as being evidence) was a fruitcake that was not only found on the ground, but was also in an evidence locker for nearly a year. The reasons behind keeping it around so long is a mystery, but still, even if the bitterant Mel slipped in to what i'm guessing is a single fruitcake wasn't there, -it's still a year old fruitcake that was found in the yard. That fact alone ought to make it contaminated evidence. No wonder the jury gagged. Probably had a healthy dose of mold on it. To say nothing of animal spit or some such toxin. Then lastly, there's that letter. 'Handled by several sets of hands, even at the trial, and in front of the judge and jury no less. That contaminates the evidence, likely rendering it inadmissible. Come to think of it, there were a lot of boneheads in that case. I mean, who willingly eats year old contaminated fruitcake? Also, I've realized something. It is suspicious that there wasn't anything of a darker connotation that would indicate someone being struck with what i'm guessing is a couple of tons of fur, flesh, bone, wood and steel. Not to mention however many tons of presents were in the cargo hold. 2000's era Christmas Kids film plot immunity I guess. Grandma can get hit by what is essentially a flying tractor trailer and walk away with only a few wires temporarily knocked loose upstairs. A welcome departure from what happened in the song. Still, I really like the special, and even taped it off the tv back when Cartoon Network actually ran holiday specials.

I forget the movie but there is a movie where the dog keeps deflating the tree. its a running gag. I think its "All I want for Christmas is you" also check Doug's Christmas Story for an other dog story oh and did you see A Muppet Family Christmas? if you do look for the original the DVD copy got cut for song rights

Mel was just an innocent girlboss wanting to get her bag Santa is a NEGLIGENT CRIMINAL

I mean..whos cousin IS Mel..? Not only is there the creepiness of Grandpa getitng to close to someone POSSIBLY related to him by blood (?), but her age gap is between the parents and the kids, her accent doesnt match any of the family, she doesnt physically seem to look that much like the other family members, EVERYONE refers to her as cousin Mel and yet..she seems to live woth the main family? She is always over and around at pretyy much any hour of the day they are at the house..so yeah..who exactly IS this women and where the heck did she come from? Honestly the special makes it hard to know if its appropriate since most people seem to have no accent, the female cop has a midwestern accent as a fargo refrence, the grandma has..some kind of slight accent i cant quite place but MAY be southern? I swear the grandpa just speaks backwoods country folk accent, austin bucks speaks in the kind of tones and mannerisms a big buisness mogal from a cartoon would be expected to and well..despite being from the north pole, I SWEAR Santa has an offensivly steriotyped Jewish accent which is equal parts funny, confusing and uncomfortable. What world is this this that we have been thrust into and why is cousin Mel the oddestball at the center everything else is revolving around in its gravoddity. Btw, As a kid I never saw the orgional music video for thsi song. I guessthe singer plays grandpa and his wife plays cousin Mel where they two are shown to be very "chummy" in grandmas absence as well. Since I only had heard the song however, I assumed cousin Mel was some guy by the tone and context of the song refering to grandpa just watching football and playing cards with this cousin. Im not saying you have to be male to do this things but it seemed by the old timey nostalgic nature and reference to grandpa getting along fine without grandma that this meant he was just hanging out with the guys with his wife not around. Imagine my shock when I was this special years after first hearing the song and see Mel as this villainous bombshell. Much later I would learn that this wasn't completely out of left field, however yhe irgional DID have Patsey (The singer Elmo's wife) play Mel so despute Elmo being made up in old man makeup, she was still middle aged and less..um..flashy..to what the kids version apparently portrayed.
