Couldn't agree more with the comments. Great driving and stylish convertible. I think BMW hit the sweet spot with the design of the car. Have had my 1998 Z3 for 9 years and mechanically has never let me down. Love it 😊

Have the Z3 2.2. It is the best little sports car on the road. Just finished rebuilding the front suspension, after repairing inner sills and fitting new o/sills. Paintwork after 23yrs is still in great condition. These cars will only go up in price. I've had people walk up to me and offer to buy it, but won't ever sell.

I’ve had my very early 1996 £1100 M44 example for 10 years now and it really has been a joy to own and is so reliable. The only things I can think of that it’s needed is the wobbly seat kebab repair which cost £8 and a couple hours of my time and I also had the 3rd brake light seal water ingress leak but a new gasket was only £3. It’s worth replacing the coolant system for peace of mind, but then again it’s cheap and easy to do and the whole lot including silicone hoses plus a quality radiator and thermostat, water pump etc cost only about £120 all in. Mine’s completely rust free and is as good as it left the factory, but even a rusty example can be patched up cheap as the whole body shell is bolt on and that even includes the outer sills.

@@oscarwilde5473 Replacing fuel injection, gaskets, sensors, water pumps, wiring, cheap plastic cooling system parts, steering racks within 80,000 miles is not maintenance kid, it is called REPAIRS, and all the maintenance in the world will not stop these repairs Goober.....without saying. Go back and try again.

Nice one. When they first came, I wasn’t too keen on them, but now I really like them. I would love one of these at some point. I wouldn’t mind the 4 pot, but with the 16v M44 engine.

I have a 2.8 and it sounds great, is comfortable, drives well, and quick. Being NA these are pretty reliable with only a few well known problem areas. It is also comfortable for larger/taller bodies. I also prefer it over Z4s because the Z3 is more raw.

The UK is good for second hand cars. With a big population, and previously a nice amount of middle class people, there are a lot of cars on the market. Being right hand drive probably also keeps the prices lower too.

These BMW's are cheap because they are money pits that will end up costing 5 times what you paid in repairs.....stop the bullshit dude.......you buy one of these fine but better use it as a second or third car, as a play toy.

My 1.9 z3 5speed has 180k miles and I daily drive it. I take it up to redline every day. The only things I’ve had to replace are the tires, clutch and flex disk. Other than that it’s been flawless. As long as you do basic maintenance these will last forever. It’s more reliable than my Honda Accord
