They need to realize they happened at Indiana, a cursed school and team. DeBour AND Penix came from Indiana and immediately went to a National championship. As long as he doesn’t play any games in Bloomington while he’s a pro, he’ll be fine
@@kdot2315 it clearly matters. Carolina is cursed too, which is why CMC went from season ending injuries every year to the most lethal weapon in the league when he left
He was just picked 8th overall by the falcons. Who already had a QB, and they picked him because the raiders, saints, and seahawks were all interested in a guy like Michael Penix. Dude is a superstar, its just the media hates him.
@@imouut yes he is regardless what you think..his Achilles injury was what made him drop out of the top 10..he's better than Stafford, Goff, Wilson, Love, Fields, Howell, Rodgers..you get the idea
Frank gore tore both his acls too in college and went on to achieve the 3rd most rushing yards in nfl history. Never had a serious injury in the league either. But penix sucks
@@daveortwine2641he has had 0 health concerns in the last two seasons, not missing a single game for UW. Though I understand the health concerns, I do not think that they matter, nor that they are lingering/will come back.
That’s if they surround him with good receivers. Example is like Joe Burrow because he got to keep a familiar face from LSU. Jalen Hurts has 2 of the best receivers in the NFL on his team and that’s still not always enough. Penix can spin the ball, but he also needs to find somebody to pass it to
@@julioinfanteramos6535Hill is obviously Miami’s biggest weapon, but Jaylen Waddle isn’t far behind as an offensive threat and is arguably the best 2nd option in the NFL with Hill on his team. Miami also have another 2-headed monster in their run game with veteran Raheem Mostert & rookie Devon Achane
I'm of mind that if the Vikings (my team) can't get Jayden Daniel's or drake maye maybe we should take this guy at our 23rd 1st round or maybe third round if he's projected to last that long
It's definitely the injuries in his past, hopefully he won't have any issues going forward. He does have a different delivery that's for sure but looks like a great QB.
unlikely.... even though I would love to see that as Seahawk.... they might gamble and trade down hoping they can snap him up later.... but I bet someone will pick him in 1st round
It’s not about if his injuries will come back and haunt him, but when. We’ve seen it with so many other players. Now I wish him a long and glorious career but it’s something to be mindful of
As an iu fan it hurt to see him leave but I loved watching him thrive at Washington and I feel like he has a shot at being the best qb takin in this up coming draft even though I feel he might slide down to mid to late first or even early to mid second round I love this kids game but still the injuries are haunting
To many injuries , and he’s 24 , playing against mostly 18-20 yr olds, teams will always be skeptic about that .. not saying he won’t have impact at the next level , but those are concerns when your picking in the 1st round ..
Thats a big factor people dont understand, like honestly he should be balling out against 18-22yr olds, he has so much experience under his belt its be ridiculous if he didnt. Not saying hes not good but gotta put everything in context
I love how people make this argument as if he’s playing against teams full of true freshman and redshirt sophomore’s lol.. he’s playing against 22-23 year olds. That’s the average age of a college starter.
Same as tua it’s just Tua’s injury’s came later on in his college career they’re both left handed and throw extremely accurate but the other thing they have in common is they aren’t great in pockets get some pressure on them and they start to have a lot of trouble. Excited to see what penix does tho he literally has the best arm in this draft imo!!
@@notadeer3198they had the best oline. Okay obviously not ohio state had better and could hold back the Michigan dline, bama, penn state, all played Michigan well
I think he looked like the best on field product ready for NFL play imo.. He has that it factor too of being a leader and doing what's needed in the clutch. I want my Pats to find a way to draft Harrison Jr and Penix and we are on our way!!! 😂
@@ronaldbargain4925 the point is developmental years, and a majority of players don’t play past 29ish. You have to be in the upper levels of the top level to even play til you are 27 as you are there for potential when younger mostly
@@BigCal-3000 not really, by football logic at all. It depends what level he is at in the NFL. If he is decent then for sure, if he is a bum he is too old to become not-a-bum.
@@pohorex6834 respectfully, you just said absolutely nothing. You could literally say that about all ages and all positions. You could say it about a 12 year old and a 30 year.
Bruh yaw got fields.. why are yaw hating on him so hard... Then you had trubisky who had you guys at 12-4... Maybe yaw the problem... @@tacticaltradingpennystocks7206
I think it's a good possibility... cheap hungry high character and pro caliber deep delivery... can get him in later rds and surround him with even more talent... top tier NFL qbs usually come from second tier or below programs...ijs
@DoctorRickSanchez first off Pete was past his day despite being still effective... The team has talent and the ability to draft a quality qb.. Seattle has a franchise history throughout their entire franchise history of developing qbs... more consistently then any other franchise... don't forget Steve Largent was the league leader in receiving for more yrs then Jerry Rice did after taking it from him.... the qb throwing him the ball later became the qb coach under Harbaugh after leaving Seattle with Hasselbeck
If he is high in the draft he will likley go to a team with a bad offensive line which he struggles with under pressure. He has alot of time in the pocket so he has time to throw better throws.
So glad you put this up because I honestly think he could be the steal of the draft. Nothing bad about JJ, I just think when it comes to ceiling. Pennix has the higher ceiling and if he came go to the right team. Could be a beast
Honestly, he sounds like a player that went through insane adversity and came out still a dawg. Torn ACL TWICE and still looks fantastic. Sure, he may be injury risk or something, but that proves his adversity if anything.
He scared people with his last performance being affected by the pain he was playing with. He was obviously injured in that game. He showed guts but the doubt of his health came to light again.
Another thing about Penix is his ability to take nfl hits. Anytime I watched him he was always grabbing his ribs. He also seems to struggle under pressure since he’s not the most mobile QB and doesn’t have the best footwork in the pocket. That’s just my analysis from what I’ve watched from him 🤷🏾♂️
He’s the best pure passer in this draft and I think he has the best chance of becoming a top qb. As a pats fan, I would love to get him and either mhj or an ot.
A missing year and a half of pro-development is objectively a fairly big deal. And more importantly: 4 season ending injuries is a massive red flag. A single year of very inpressive play is an anomoly relative to his health. Nothing against him, but several teams wont draft him due to injury concerns alone. That and concerns with how he'll translate to the NFL (normal for a prospect) are why he's not talked about in the top end of (most) mocks. Still early and only takes 1 though
Shout out to this dude showin Penix some love. As a die hard UDub fan, of course I’m ridin w my guy Penix all day. Sure he’s a 6 year college QB but it’s not like he’s already in his 30’s or somethin. He’s got an NFL caliber arm and as long as he stays healthy he’s got the potential to have success at the NFL level. Yeah he’s got injury history but you’re not drafting him to be a dual threat QB, ur drafting him to be a pocket passer. He’s not a statue though either, he’s got solid pocket mobility and can surprise you every now then and break off a decent gain with his legs. If he gets drafted by the right franchise, in the right situation, with the right coach and coaching staff for him and a scheme that fits him well then that team could hit a real money pick. But thinking about it from the perspective of a franchises GM and stuff, they are always needing to think about the long term future of the team. 1st round draft picks carry a ton of value in the NFL these days and if you are looking to draft a QB with your teams 1st round pick then you want to be drafting a QB who will be the face of the franchise for the next decade plus. If u took Penix in the 1st round then by the time his rookie deal is up and hes ready to sign that 2nd contract Penix would be 29 years old. And with him being older you really can’t afford to draft him and have him sit for a year behind a vet cause that’s just not smart tactics. You would love to be a team with a good roster already that has either a vet journeyman at QB now (like a TB or something), or a team that has a QB that just doesn’t seem like they are going to pan out (like a NYG) or a team that has a good but not great QB and you’d like to upgrade (like a SEA). Use a mid 2nd round pick on him or something and they will be reaping the benefits
He tore his ACL twice… that’s speaks volumes when you’re talkin about having stock in any prospect especially a QB, RB, or WR this is an era of the Athlete so if he’s got those bumps a lot of guys are going to drive down another road to avoid it
@@calebmareki think Michigan had the superior football team. And him being young he was ask to slot when it comes to passes. I Michigan just got him with there scheme. They had no run defense or run offense to really help him out. He had 51 pass attempts the Michigan quarterback had least then 24
@@mikenike1616miss the point top pick play on the worse football team most of the time and they will be asked to do a lot and he probably is not ready for that
@@Halo2JackelI’m telling you right now any team that passes on Penix will regret it 💀 ima duck fan and believe me when I say this, mpj might be the best QB I’ve ever see wit my own 2 eyes at the college level, that deep ball accuracy is crazy, if Vikings pick him up I could already see JJ goin for a 2k year consistently
@@peej2faded513 No one will be going 2k receiving yards a year consistently. The NFL is a whole different level of physicality. There have been a lot of good college qbs who havent done good in college. Im not saying that hes gonna do bad, but I dont know if the vikings will just throw away a really good nfl qb and risk having him not do good.
@@johnwickspencil6180Yeah two years ago I have no problem taking this kinda talent most first rounders I've noticed realistically pan out anyway......perfectly healthy lol
@@enigma1one810 Most first rounders dont pan out. From 2010 to 2017, only 31% of first rounders signed second contracts. I dont know about the specific numbers of that for qbs.
Caleb Williams and Drake Maye are significantly above him at prospects. Daniel’s is looking like the clear QB3 at this point. That’s puts Penix QB4 at best
To me he seems like a qb that should go early to mid 2nd round because of the injury history but then end up being one of the best qbs in the draft if he’s healthy. If a team like Denver takes terrion Arnold or a great pass rusher in the first, and penix in the second it could be a franchise changing draft 🤷♂️
Only reason he’s underrated is because no body actually watched huskie football this year he’s been elite all year not just against Texas. Should a won the heisman to
I love Penix he made my alma mater relevant for the first time in decades. Problem is we've seen great WRs boost up QB draft stock. He had 2 NFL caliber receivers at UW. It comes down to work ethic and intangibles. Since 2011 there have been 38 first round QBs. Of the 28 that have had more than 1 contract, only 11 have been resigned with their first team and only 1 (Cam Newton) has been signed a second time. 1st round QBs are usually not who we thought they were. Statistically speaking (not using eyes at all) he will wind up a bust.
Penix is the best QB in the draft and has superstar potential, he has the best arm, accuracy and throws a beautiful ball, his command of that high powered Washington offense is so fun to watch 🎯🔥
He is mobile in the pocket and can move around in the pocket and he has legs and can run for yards if needed. Plus he's big and stronger and been healthy for 2 years he's good.
