Why it took me so long to get to 100,000 subscribers 

Congratulations! That's some serious channel growth recently! I think your advice at the end is spot on. When I started, I didn't think that many people would be interested in obscure city planning videos, but I made them anyway because I found them useful. Now RU-vid is full of copycat channels AND hater channels of my content! Success! 👍

The more niche a topic is, the less likely I have seen a similar video once before somewhere else. That's how actually fresh and interesting content comes to be - not just a repetition at worst and another perspective at best.

Your destination/town videos aren't bland. They are exactly how I like them. Nobody else makes videos about these towns, so please don't stop.

I love how he tried things along the nines of "well since I have the time I'll go out of my way and deliberately go for boring stuff to test this" and this entire fanbase went like "well screw you and your expectations - here is a new influx of views, deal with it" :D also congrats on the 100k and all the best in the future from a random internet weirdo ^^

Congratulations! 🥳 It is difficult to find channels that are not fully streamlined and thus also somewhat replaceable, not to mention all the channels that are produced like big TV channels. Being genuine is what made RU-vid interesting.

You started this channel when I was ten years old. I started watching when I was doing my GCSEs (at a British school in Germany). I then moved from Germany to the UK (or "pulled a reverse rewboss", I suppose...) a couple years later - a decade ago now. I'm pretty sure this is the only channel I was subscribed to in high school that I still regularly watch to this day. So what you lack in virality, you make up for in longevity/long-term watchability. Slow and steady wins the race, as they say!

I’m subscribed since the minute I saw your thumbnail for the video about German village road signs. As someone who grew up in Schöllkrippen, I was so confused to see something with „Landkreis Aschaffenburg“ from an english speaking youtuber that I immediately had to click. Now even my mom knows about you and sometimes watches your videos. Keep up the great work!

I think I was bought to your channel by the motorway enclosure video, but hung around as I have a similar background as a British immigrant to Germany who is also now a German citizen. I'm also really happy that your video of my favourite village is performing so well. I'll have to ask Andreas in the station restaurant (Vo'Gunders) if he's seen an increase in visitors recently as your video attracts people to visit. I shared the video to several people other I know who live in Bayerisch Eisenstein, and they enjoyed it!

Congrats on the 100k subs! The exploding aquarium video was also quite a hit. You offer a perfect mix of education, information and humour, and on top of that you also interact with your viewers which is pretty neat.

I (German) really only started this summer to watch YT videos that weren't old TV shows or an occasional music performance, but I found quite a few "cross-cultural" channels which I found rather interesting from my standpoint of a former one-year exchange student almost fifty years ago (in the U.S.). Meaning mostly from Americans in Germany and from Germany in America. Most of the don't teach me a lot of new things about my home country, though they still are entertaining and well-researched (do I need to give names?). But with yours I have now found several interesting subjects that I had never heard about, and I like your presentation (though it may be a little exaggerated on purpose, though nowhere near some other people's). Which is why your channel was among the first five or so I ever subscribed to. Special kudos for the bloopers than you keep including in the "closing credits". And especially the calm- and factualness of your videos with some mostly self reflecting little jokes without you pushing everything being „to your best knowledge“ and liking to appeal to a scientific, in some ways elite, audience really got me. What you say reminds me of an episode of the cartoon series Arthur, where the title character had to write a short story to read to his class, either real or fictional. Originally he was going to tell the story of how he got his dog, but after his sister said it was boring he started trying to modify it into a format that everyone would like and became increasingly frustrated when various family members mentioned even the slightest faults with it. After reading the final draft to the class he said that it was meant to be the story of how he got his dog but thought that would be boring, to which his teacher said that he'd like to hear that story, and after Arthur had told it the teacher said that he shouldn't think about what other people want to hear, but tell the story in the way it means most to him

2:10 If I'm not mistaken, that is the first Rewboss video I ever saw. As a civil engineer, it's no surprise I found this video interesting. As I like to travel to Germany, it's no surprise I found more videos on your channel interesting. And your shorts are quite interesting too; they usually contain information that even people quite familiar with Germany find surprising.

Congrats, but unfortunate to hear your travel-logs don't do as well, because I love the way you do them! What channels do you find do a better job than what you do? What I like about your videos is that it does cater to my style of exploration. You use public transportation, and you provide a glimpse into your stroll. The added historic context is a nice bit of context to provide awareness of a bigger world, but doesn't spoil the sense of adventure for me. I was 12, but I didn't subscribe to you at that time. A year ago a video of yours (I think it was about Ludwigshafen am Rhein) was on my starting page and I noticed your username again. It's actually really nice to see that you're still around after so many years!

Apparently starting in December RU-vid will start to close accounts that haven't been active in (i believe) 3 years so there might be a big purge comming up where they get rid off all those. If it happens it will be very interessting to see what's happens to subscriber counts all over the platform. You are probably aware of him but i think you share a lot in common with The Tim Traveller. I always thought he does stuff you might also find interesting. Your trip to the divided railway station from the other week, that's such a TimTraveler destination to visit. I think there's also a potential to learn from each other and get inspiration from. This channel is almost as old as I am! Took a while for me to find you but now that I have, I really enjoy your content!

Belated congratulations from a recent subscriber 🎉 I do think, you might also be profiting from a recent rise in popularity of channels, that make humorous content about cultural stereotypes. Liam Carpenter and Uyen Ninh come to mind, for example, although I'm sure, there are others. But these two, I've been subscribed to for a while and I'm pretty sure, that is why RU-vid suggested your channel to me. You also remind me a bit of 'Atomic Shrimp', another Brit, who makes delightful videos about random topics like collecting beach pebbles, foraging, cooking on a budget, pottery experiments with local clay, you name it. He basically just films whatever he's interested in at that moment in time and it's almost gotten him to the million subscriber mark by now. Being an ex IT guy, he started out with scambaiting as his subject, but very successfully branched out into 'random, interesting subjects'. And people love it. It's just fun and relaxing to watch. And as someone already commented...much of the success is due to the personality of the host. You're just a funny and likeable guy. You have 'opinions' (and therefore are not boring), but you aren't rabid or pushy about them. Watching you just feels like hanging out with an old friend, which is something a lot of viewers badly crave these days, I feel. So just 'keep on keeping on'. I'm pretty sure, as long as you are genuinely passionate about what you've filming, people will respond to that and your channel will continue to grow.

Personally I never got where you are now. Congratulations! I can only speak for myself, but my favorite videos of yours have always been the travel videos, especially the ones of towns that I have also visited. My roots are in approximately the same area that you reside in. My family comes from Kreuzwertheim and my Mom now lives in Marktheidenfeld. This area claims Bavaria's smallest town, Rothenfels, the Snow White castle in Lohr and the 10 day Laurenzi-messe in August at Marktheidenfeld. Congrats again.
