To be fair, grievous is terrifying, imagine sword fighting with someone else who has four arms and 4 blades, and cybernetics to perfectly wield them.

The 4 blades whirling is very impressive LOOKING, but not practical to wield in the limited space around his body. In the original Clone wars animated series he was able to bind the blade of a Jedi and use an extra arm to sneak out a saber for a surprise ignition kill. That's probably the only use, and a semi competent Jedi should have sensed that.

I loved Grevious from the old 2003 anime the voice, presence, ability as a fighter, everything was done very. I think everything Grevious brought to the table made it nearly impossible for a jedi to beat him. The terror and fatigue he created in that first battle were next level to the point you had masters on the Jedi Council fighting him and even they saw virtually no hope in winning so as a result they couldn't focus on the battle. But when fighting a battle or a war you need weapons to counter your enemies abilities so having so that can withstand or become invulnerable to the force is perfect to fight jedi.

Force shield, unknown for movies only watchers has a huge emphasis in the trilogy novelasation Darth Bane (highly recommanded).They are a lot of factors: first as you said, it's body has been made for deflecting force push: clawed feet and even more a very heavy body, hardening the push anyway. Secondly, to reach to the force, the being reached must be well identified which is very complex considering the apparant anarchic design of Grievous "armor", also being partly droid, trying to reach him, you fall on parts that are supposed to be flesh but can't consider it fully a droid because it is still his body who manouvers it (it's like he has two bodies). And as partly droid, as explained in the novel Revan, he is far more difficult to begin with to reach with the force, immune to suggestion and hard to detect. Ironically, in the end he is nether defeat nor by the force or by lighsaber but as the rest of the jedi during order 66... by a blaster bolt... so ironic x).

Dooku himself stated to Grievous, that if he was to go up against the very best of the Jedi, he would need Fear, Surprise, and Intimidation on his side. That he had to _break_ them _before_ he engaged them. That if any of the attributes were lacking it would be best for Grievous to retreat. This meant that his frightening visage and terrifying skills and abilities were only half of the equation; Grievous had to defeat his Jedi adversaries before actually engaging them in battle, by using scare tactics in addition to ambushing and shock and awe. This was evident in the 2003 "Clone Wars" series, when Grievous made his animated debut - Obi-wan was contacted by Jedi Master Dackman Barrak on the Planet Hypori, desperately requesting evac after his forces had been decimated by a "new droid general", only for Barak to be killed and the transmission cut off. It then showed the droids surrounding a Republic cruiser before their general signaled them to cease fire, and inside this downed cruiser were six Jedi, including Ki'Adi Mundi, Aayla Secura, Shaak Ti, and K'Krukh They expressed their awe and fear of such a fearsome foe, whose strategy and forces had comepletely outmaneuvered them and left them on the brink of defeat. Despite Ki'Adi attempting to bolster their confidence, their foe cruelly called out to them to "make peace with the Force", that this was their final hour, and that he, General Grievous, would give them a warrior's death. One of the Jedi, a padawan named Sha'Gi (who had witnessed his master Barak die) gave into fear and rashly charged out, only to be suddenly crushed by Grievous before he snuck up on the other Jedi, intimidated and just how and where he wanted them, and struck! In spite of three masters and two knights engaging the general all at once he more than held his own and quickly dispatched of K'Krukh and the two knights (including Aayla) before splitting Ki'Adi and Shaak Ti apart and seemingly killing her. Ki'Adi stood his ground and dared to face Grievous to the end, and it would have been had some troopers not come to the rescue, chasing off Grievous and saving Ki'Adi, Shaak Ti, and Aayla (K'Krukh was mistakenly left for dead, but actually survived), and Grievous added the fallen's lightsabers to his collection and mockingly told the survivors to flee had only prolonged their inevitable fate (which sadly turned out to be true) This debut demonstrated Dooku's words and Grievous's approach to killing Jedi perfectly. That the padawan left fear overwhelm him, only for it to get him suddenly killed, how Grievous's fast and deadly offense kept the Jedi on their toes and unable to catch their second wind. During the fight Ki'Adi had even tried to Force-Push Grievous, only for the general to easily outrun them, and even when Shaak Ti tried to telekinetically throw debris at him he easily knocked them away. That three masters, two of them on the council, were unable to defeat this jedi-killing machine is a testament to monster Dooku and Sidious created, and even in the rare moments a Jedi would get the best of Grievous he would either run or resort to dirty tactics, proving himself a coward with no honor

It’s nonsense. More so, in the movies, Lucas never mentions anything about it, because he didn’t think much about it himself. Once he becomes such a threat, that he has killed so many Jedi masters, they could’ve easily put a team together, just to take out Grievous, or simply have the best at using force abilities, that would be beneficial, and it just doesn’t make since. Grievous stands perfectly still many times in the movie, and this idea he scared everyone, as if no Jedi could possibly overcome it. Then the, “he has too much speed” thing. It’s just ridiculous if they worked together. The idea they wouldn’t use abilities in offense, is the biggest joke, as Lucas and others have had them cut limbs off of strangers who posed far less risk than a Grievous, and not in a war. It’s a war! The idea they wouldn’t kill is laughable. How many did the Jedi kill in AotC? In the arena? Mace decapitated Jango. I wish, that just once, someone would admit, that Lucas was lazy, with his writing in those movies, and it’s not as big a deal within them, as when I first watched it, I felt like Grievous would be able to get away with it for awhile. Attacking lesser skilled Jedi, or as an assassin, ambushing them, using a number of droids to weaken and gain the attention of a better Jedi, then attacking. I mean, how many Jedi die by just getting shot by Clone Troopers? Even the scenes we are shown, make the Jedi killed, save one, look very weak. My issue with Grievous, is in the Clone Wars series, he’s the main problem, as far as the Jedi know, or are concerned for awhile. We see feats by characters, that they just aren’t capable of, or ever even discuss making a plan to end Grievous. There is a comic, with Yoda coming across Grievous, after seeing something during a mission. It’s just the Grandmaster on a spying mission, all alone. He toys with Grievous, dueling for a few panels, with Grievous not believing what he’s seeing. Then Yoda, is just, “peace out, wielding such a weapon, for you it is not,” or something, snd leaves him. He could’ve ended him right there, as he sees he has weapons from Jedi he’s killed. It’s just bad writing. Jedi do kill. Some, maim. Obi Wan was a habitual limb taker, just for bullying. 😆

My issue with Grievous, and aspects of the Prequels in Episodes 2 and 3 (not to mention the animated series) is that they sometimes gloss over the plot contrivances necessary to make most Jedi ridiculously weak while others have absolute plot armor. This includes the Order 66 moment when every master dies like a chump against some clones except, of course, the two who end up in the OT. Grievous is a bit that too, he's wildly overpowered against every Jedi... except Obi-Wan, who defeats him with relative ease. I don't really buy the terror aspect, any Jedi with experience, certainly Council Members, should have decades of self-discipline to ward off fear.

1. Grevious tactics is the intimidate n bring fear to the jedi to break their concentration so they cant fully tap into the force. 2. All force sensitive place a sort of force bubble around them. Its to keep other force sensitive from hitting them with force based attacks n keeps their minds strong against mind attacks. This force bubble also raises the users awareness around them. The stronger u are in the force the stronger ur force bubble is. 3. Grievious is using a combination of an alters form of form 6 niman which is Jarr kai. Or the form using a 2nd blade. On top of that he was taught by count dooku who is a master of form 2 Masashi. Which im sure Grevious used as well.

In the final days of the Republic, Jedi Order became weak, corrupt and decadent - just like Republic they were sworn to protect. Yes, there were several masters with strong connection to the Force. But rest of the pack were Jedi picked up as younglings, with mid-level powers and no grounding in reality. Jedi Order became to large and thus diluted. Jedi would train anyone with modicum of Force sensitivity, as long as they could snatch him from the cradle. Grievous was designed by Palpatine to cull weak, he was never much of an obstacle for really powerful Force users. This too was by design, Grievous was a tool to be used and then discarded.

This makes a lot of sense. Even Count Dooku said that he needed fear, intimidation, and surprise on his side. Find any one of these lacking, it is best for him to retreat. Because the moment a Jedi gets a chance to muster up a defense or offense against Grievous, he is screwed.

The theme addresses one of my biggest frustrations with Lucas' Star Wars storytelling, and production, abilities. The Jedi could have used similar equipment and tactics used by bounty hunters, clone troopers and even their own when dealing with cybernetic enemies (electromagnetic bombs, shields, etc). Jedi could even have used The Force as a team, in the various times Grievous engaged many Jedi at once. Jedi could have used the environment and objects around to overwhelm/damage Grievous instead of just focusing on blade combat.

I never really thought of this, but it does seem as a writing flaw. Fear? and Ambush is what made him survive? Ok I'm sure it helped. But I don't see that helping prevent force abilities. In the end he what caught blaster fire to the heart? If there cybernetics could avoid force pushes and pulls could it not avoid a blaster fire? Just all seems so convenient an explanation. I always like the story Greivous being part cyborg could master any form of an opponent and gave him a tactical advantage and why the council didn't want him to learn VPAD and why he never fought that master.. Allowed him to combine, and use all forms. But I also never thought of the force, and now that I do, without some muguffin such as force reducing armor or something, just oh he was able to avoid it is not enough.

I've always been under the impression that all living things including, non-sensitives like Grievous, have at least a LITTLE bit of a force barrier or force resistance; otherwise crushing a living person would be no more difficult than crushing an everyday object. Otherwise, Vader for instance would never have to actually fight a non-Jedi opponent, he would be able to just instantly splatter them with the Force with zero effort. Considering he's able to crash starships by Force Pulling them, you'd think that applying even a tiny fraction of the same effort would turn human opponents into pink mist.

@MichaelRiderRebornfromtheashes
This is the problem with Jedi, and where I agree with Darth Sidious. A lightsaber is useless for the most part and is just a symbol, the true power of the a force user is the force itself. I feel the Jedi rely way to much on the a lightsaber. Using the force to dominate and fighting with aggression should be considered in the face of a great the threat, much like how Gandalf handles foes. For the most part he fights in self-defense, but you should be careful if the threat is great enough for him to go on the offence. Or a team is trained to take him. Lucas just wasn’t thinking about anything but the moment, snd the character doesn’t hold up to the scrutiny, of over 9,000 Jedi, yet they’re either too important to risk on such a mission, or aren’t good enough to not be scared? Sure. It’s like the thing about Grievous digging his metal toes into the ground, and a Jedi not being able to move him. Ok, just focus on the head, and pull it off. Or, if he’s stuck in place, it negates the “too scared” reason. The idea he’s just too fast for all of them is lame as well. Maul should’ve been used as that character, and Grievous is who Obi Wan should’ve defeated in the first movie. Still have Maul kill Qui Gon, then have him leaving Obi Wan for Grievous. Use a scene earlier in the movie, where Grievous takes a Jedi out, or just have him tell Obi Wan how he’s been the reason certain Jedi have gone missing, show him his collection, then Obi Wan levels up, cuts him up(which is his favorite), and Maul is the one Obi Wan goes after in RotS, while Anakin is turned. This makes sense. Fear is powerful enemy. Griveous used it perfectly. Honestly,Griveous was beneath Jedi. Beneath everyone actually. He was droid monstrosity. This was first answer when I saw the video. The Sith made them perfect fighter. May the Force be with you too. Have a great day too😊

Well that makes sense, since as the video stated, Grievous' abilities were tuned to take down fearful and disrupted Jedi, not rage filled Sith. Arguably Sith would actually be stronger against him, since their power is fueled by both anger AND fear.

I don’t think this is right, I’m sure some Jedi were scared of him, but not sought to where their ability to use the force was gone. Moreover, I’ve seen jedis use the force on him all the time, just not in a delay way. The real answer is plot armor and the producers not wanting him to die yet while hoping we do not say anything about it. Which is cool I liked the scenes but I always do catch myself asking “well if they used force on him right there why not use it to crush his body like made windu did in the2d movies

What if Dooku put that glaring weakness with offensive force powers, as an attempt to find other that were in doubt with the Jedi's dogmatic views? Dooku didn't like just killing jedi, he wanted to bring as many over to his side as possible i think, or perhaps he left it, because it left a bad taste in his mouth to kill jedi that way? Or maybe I'm giving him too much credit.

Dude, stop mixing legends Grievous with canon Grievous, they’re not the same. Things like having locking feat, dodging force attacks, and the force crush to the chest, those were legends Grievous, not canon Grievous.

Except the jedi do use the force on Grievous, multiple times. Obi Wan force pushes him in ROTS and Mace Windu crushes his chest in CW. This is what happens when people overthink and miss blatantly obvious things lol.

So when the Wampa is closing in on Luke and he is desperate to escape, by the logic you're trying to use then he wouldn't have been able to use the Force to reach out to his sabre because he knew he was about to be eaten. A concept far more terrifying than "scary eyes and mean words and four arms" considering Luke's inexperience in the Force compared to more experienced Jedi who Grievous bested due to his ridiculous plot armour.
@crunkers_
@crunkers_ 9 месяцев назад
Fear hampers your force abilities, but it doesnt completely disable them. He was able to pull his lightsaber to him, one of the most basic moves we see happen all the time. Probably because the lightsaber is such a personal weapon its more easy to pull it towards you. And it weighs a fraction of the weight of general grievous or a wampa.
@crunkers_
@crunkers_ 9 месяцев назад
Also if I were a jedi I would be far more scared of grievious than an animal that I could kill with one swing. Luke was probably thinking "if i could just get my lightsaber, I could escape" Pretty good motivation to be able to do that. And Luke was never able to force push the Wampa. Just saying.

@@crunkers_ Yoda made it clear that moving rocks around was no different to lifting an X-Wing. Back then though the writing was much better.
@crunkers_
@crunkers_ 9 месяцев назад
@@allenniumfalcon That's a statement that has deep philisophical meaning beyond just practical technical jargon. What Yoda mean is the same thing he means when he says "do or do not do, there is no try." To luke it doesnt make sense because he is having trouble lifting the X Wing so soon after just learning the basics. What Yoda is really saying is, "believe in yourself, believe in the force, and the impossible is possible. But if you want to get back into the technical Jargon that I agree is worse writing: Luke is literally sitting there meditating when he lifts the X-Wing. With absolute focus he was able to do it.

I really never cared for his character. Grievous in my opinion, should not have been as powerful as he was portrayed. His prowess in terms of lightsaber combat just didn't make sense. How could he have "learned" or been programmed in all 7 forms in such a short time... it's too far fetched an idea just to be able to say he was a Jedi killer only then for my boy Obi-wan to own him the way he did.
