You know what else is an underrated castle theme? Nexo knights. It is a castle theme, as fantasy era castle is canon to nexo knights, as shown in the knights academy book. It’s also my favourite theme (knights kingdom is second)
i wish this was the era when lego decided to make TV shows based off their sets not the 2010's knights kingdom II was prefect Saturday morning cartoon material and lego didn't go for it! same can be said about the lego theme exo-force #missedopportunity
A Knights Kingdom tv show would’ve been a hit for sure. Having the colors this theme has and putting them in a kids show would get so many kids into Lego. Great point to bring up!
Great video and I’m happy you mentioned so many positives that this theme brought to many peoples childhoods. I was definitely one of the biggest fans growing up. My favourite was no doubt Jayko, thanks to his storyline of being the youngest knight. But I love them all. I remember being so stoked about the third wave and was hoping the theme would find a way to keep going thanks to the new, awesome looking gen of knights. Sad it didn’t happen but if someone from Lego is reading this, please give this theme a farwell shot. Something so we could hold our heads high for subscribing to this theme as kids! You'll see no disagreements from me. Kingdom II had the most unique roster of heroes, especially its last wave which had its own villains too. I wish it had a bit more in way of unnamed characters (other than shadow knights), but let's be real, you have literally every other castle theme to get that. Plus, Vladek's Fortress is one of the best castles ever, especially for the price at launch.
Completely agree with your takes as well. Wish I could’ve gotten more of these sets when they were out. Shadow knights are one of, if not my favorite Lego castle antagonists because of their colors and the scorpion crest. I could’ve made those points in the video but didn’t want it to be too long with how new I am to this!
The themes and the ideas were really solid. Personally I think that the theme might have done better with a slightly more historical look. Give each of the knights a secondary color or even a bit of steel or grey like they did with the later releases. The story is great and it's unfortunate that the spiritual successor to this series "nexo knights" made the same mistake. A good mix of historical look with fantastical themes is what I'm hoping for.
