finally found someone who enjoys this movie as much as I do. everything about Let It Shine is so perfect to me, even the corniness of it all, I don't care I love it. and also a fun fact! the ones singing Don't Run Away were a boyband called 'IM5' and they actually have a video (or at least had) here on RU-vid singing it acapella.

Let it Shine was one of the rare times for me that just every song just hit. This movies was way too good for Disney to produce and I still remember people talking about it after it came out. These songs were just way too good. Guardian Angel is the best song tho and nobody can tell me otherwise

i think guardian angel and what i said are the 2 best songs, hands down. and i definitely relate to what it was like growing up watching everybody hates chris and then hearing about this movie. funnily enough, the first trailer for it that i ever saw was on BET. but after it premiered, all my church friends (like 12-17) were talking about it. and i've definitely heard the "hiphop is evil, the youth are so backwards" speeches from pastors before, including my dad. this video brought back a lot of the nostalgia of that era for me. thanks for that

2012 was when I stopped watching Disney Channel. I’m so glad I got to experience this movie before I stopped. I don’t think I’d feel the same way about it if I didn’t see it as a kid. Let it Shine and Lemonade Mouth were my favorite DCOMs.

the only reason i will always say bling lost the battle is for 1 reason and this reason is enough, Bling's punchlines where just empty simple jokes like how it was in the cut scene where cyrus dissed himself better than bling, he didnt have a theme with his insults it was just something you normally tell to someone you consider a loser, or rather his theme was just fake calling himself rich, compared to cyrus' lines, where he legit dismantled blings image to everyone by literally telling the truth. So all the stuff he was saying earlier were just empty insults where cyrus' stuff made sense because his first verse was him calling bling a phony and then confirming that he was a phony in the second verse. while bling was insulting cyrus and acting like he was rich through the whole battle, because after every insult he put himself up which showed how afraid he was to tell people about his truth. Call it plot armor or not i will always look at Bling as a fake rapper because that was the message they were trying to put in the final battle.

Gonna need a Rags video twin

This movie is a modern remake of the play Cyrano de Bergerac. It explains all of The Oddities that happen concerning the main plot semicolon in the play Roxanne is smitten with a man named Christian who she likes for his looks but has never spoken to, however thanks he must be as intelligent as he is beautiful. Cyrano who is besotted with her comes up with the exact plan that Cyrus does with Chris because he is so ugly and so lacking in self-esteem he doesn't think Roxanne could ever want him, and Christian also likes this woman so they basically pair his words with Christians looks. The wraps and songs were love letters in the play, and Cyrano and Roxanne / Cyrus and Roxy turn out to be the much better fit. The dcom gives it a much happier ending and holds Christian slash Chris accountable for certain things.

Dude this movie was so fucking fire to me . I was glad to see Tyler in the movie of course cause of everybody hates Chris . I remember trying to catch it on UPN growing up. I couldn’t stand coco Jones’ character in this movie and y’all loved her haha . Whenever it was on i watched the whole thing , no matter what part was on. Definitely glad to stumble upon this

This movie is definitely the best. Usually with DCOM movies, it loses its touch on reality. Like yes it’s great for a movie, but Let it shine, as you guys said, felt relatable. It’s the first Disney movie that feels relatable, a movie with soul, a movie that feels essentially real in my opinion. I also enjoyed how Disney touched on aspects they’ve never did before such as religion and the issues with pre judgment in the church. Not to mention the music is really good as well. It’s just so different from all the other films they’ve made and I really wish it was appreciated more.

A celebrity not immediately getting recognized is actually not that too surprising. Henry Cavil a few years ago did an experiment where, in Times Square, went out in public and stood underneath a billboard for Batman V Superman, while wearing a Superman shirt. Literally nobody recognized him at all. So Roxy not getting recognized when she's just by herself with Cyrus isn't actually too farfetched.

6:55 It makes a lot more sense to put this cutscene in the feature, his first encounter against Bling demonstrates that Cyrus isn't always as shy as the viewers think. Given the level of expertse as Chior Director/Musician, he does have the confidence to put his talent to good use. The only problem is he doesn't want to take the Spotlight because the pressures of superstardom would get the better of him, that's why he refuse to take on Bling in the stage in front of the crowd. 😔

Oh my gosh! This and Sky High are my alltime favorite DCOMs.

Best Disney movie in my opinion

I remember Disney hyping us up for this movie and it played on tv! Me and my cousins loved it! I wonder if it released in theaters too?

The first two minutes gave me flashbacks to when I was in elementary and middle school and still watched the Disney Channel. I remember loving the songs and I'm gong to rewatch the movie if possible.

It was #1 in my top 3 Disney Movies of that year along w/ Frenemies & Radio Rebel. Also Trevor Jackson the guy who plays Chris is an accomplished r&b singer & actor in his own right in 2021 he won a soul train award so listen to some of his music if u haven't already.

I always loved this movie. I grew up in a pretty strict Catholic household, so I appreciated that they acknowledged how restrictive and closed-minded religion can make people, especially when it comes to art. It was nice to see the dad learn to open his mind more and realize that his son wasn’t trying to do any harm with his art, it was just his way of expressing his passion and emotions. That plot always resonated with me a lot. Also Roxie was a gay awakening for me as a kid lol. I always thought she was so pretty and a really talented singer.

Need a let’s it shine 2 the reunion years later seeing where they all ended up or a conflict comes up and they gotta come back together
