Takes a real man to admit their own faults, especially when they've had such a clear track record in the past. This is why Blacky's always been a real one 💯
It truly sucks when an artist places the bar so high for themselves. Saying your latest album doesn't live up to the previous has to be the most backhanded compliment an artist can receive.
@@ZimMill There is a compliment to that. I can tell Kendrick DAMN. is not as good as TPAB. Saying LIVE LIFE FAST is the worst album Roddy has ever put out is strictly criticizing.
@Onouphrios Tell me how. Please Excuse me was one of the most praised albums of 2019/2020. It still remains an amazingly regarded album. Some people call it a “classic,” but I wont even step into that territory lol.
@David van den Boom Basically, I don't know who came up with it, but there has been a joke going around for a while that Blackyspeakz is Roddy Ricch for some reason
I think Roddy mostly enjoyed his success in the last 2 years and the album was pushed on a side track. He'll put his passion back into music and his next project will be ridiculous.
Nah his ego boosted too much afte mfs gassed em up and he thought he was this "Superstar" who could drop anytime he wants like k dot, Glad this album and era put his senses to place
*insert joke about blacky's own album flopping here* all jokes aside, i think roddy could have definitely done better. i firmly believe he has it in him to bounce back
@@givemesometime8405 yup, happens all the time. Look at Carti when he dropped WLR, most instantly said it was dogshit, it ended up being a pretty decent album because it was pretty much a tester.
It’s hard for an artist to deliver the same emotions/hunger on a project when they’re rich and successful. That’s what we all loved about Roddy Rich coming out, we all related to “Die Young” or “Every Season”. Now that he made it, he driving around in a Ferrari, pushing 180mph. He’s seems out of touch with the fan base that got him there in the first place.
Exactly he gotta go back to dropping music like how he was when he was back grinding, whenever artists get big and expand their music always changes and we end up liking their “old” self better
Exactly what happened to polo g and drake. They no longer care ab their craft but they know their fanbase will eat up anything they put out. Kinda sad cuz they have talent.
It just wasn’t good enough, it wasn’t that. I think he gots a big name now when it comes to an industry standard, so he could’ve had big numbers, the album wasn’t just good
i’m surprised i didn’t hear anything about this album until now. roddy’s wave was strong, unfortunate to hear people aren’t vibing with this new album.. i’ll check it out though
Personally, a large problem in rap is when an artist drops a extraordinary album, fans expect them to keep that consistency without realizing how time and effort it takes to put into the album and this leads to rappers overcompensating and releasing work that is neither their finest nor fans taste. This is definitely the case with Roddy and LLF. Although it wasn't my favorite, I did like a portion of the album.
@@bowlfrog1484 “different than most songs lately” boy you listen to a total of 6 rappers stop the cap edit: you thought you was slick deleting that dumba💲💲 comment
What really sucked was that the Intro (LLF) sounded sooo fire and dramatic. It made me so hype that this album was gonna be the next Antisocial (one of my fav albums in past 10 years) and then most of the rest of the songs were just meh 😕
Wdym I felt like the album was good 👍🏼 maybe not as good his others but I’m definitely going to listen to a handful of the songs in this album for the rest of the year
@@7xvibe Basically, there’s a joke that BlackySpeakz is roddy ricch (I believe because they have a similar voice) and this person is wondering why Blacky is speaking in 3rd person view. Hope that makes sense. EDIT: i was wrong lol
@@yeahaight8081 I’m not sure if that’s the case, I recall that Blacky said “I” once while referring to Roddy in an old video and that’s where the joke really started taking off.
i agree w your overall feeling on the album & think he 100% dropped the ball on it,, esp when so many people had eyes on him, had been waiting & had the potential to, like u said, solidify his career/name for years to come. but, SIR you are sleeeepin' on crash the party & rollercoastin' !!
He took too long to come out with new music. It’s not how it used to be when albums were anticipated. Back then a artist would make a album and wait two to three years to make another one. Now music is over saturated, there’s a new mix tape coming out Everyday . a new artist coming out Every day. if you look at the big artist, Da Baby, Lil Baby, NBA Youngboy etc they continue to create content consistently . and the longer you wait the more people get amnesia and forget about you. than you have the sophomore jinx. his first album was so massive that it was going to be hard to top that. it’s like 50 cent get rich or die trying, any album he did after that was not going to out do get rich or die trying. Roddy still has time to turn it all around though. stay creative , stay motivated and stay hungry
I think the production is the issue he should’ve kept Dj mustard, the live instrumentation blended well with his voice that’s a major part of his style he needs to bring that back
Please Excuse Me for being Antisocial is a classic. The intro alone is fantastic and quickly shows Roddy's artistic potential, with his instrumental experimentation, unique flows and tone all expressed into a meaningful sound. Through this every song stands out, adding personality and enhancing the entire composition. War Baby is still the most underrated song on the album. Live Life Fast doesn't do any of that. Feed The Streets 3 is gonna have to be massive, people were expecting the next evolution in his sound. Falling off this hard after a successful come up is very disheartening. I hope he can return better than ever.
J Cole - Born Sinner Kendrick Lamar - GKMC Drake - Take Care 50 Cent - The Massacre Eminem - The Slim Shady LP Ye- Late Registration 6 of the biggest rappers ever with some of the best albums ever off the top of my head in 2 minutes.. so we just making shit up or what, this album flopping is really bad for roddy.
well u shouldnt be expecting every album by Roddy to have the same sound, one of the most important things to be a successful rapper is to be versatile and drop different types of vibes/songs not the same style
Besides from moved to miami, there isn't too many tracks that seems to have a good amount of replay value. What made pemfba great was how every listen sounds better than the last one.
I'm guessing Roddy took the conscious rapper route and thought being silent and not releasing a lot of music would help build hype for his album, only to find out that he still needs to put effort in to do that
Right because it’s not like he was making a masterpiece behind the scenes all of this time. This generation is truly slow. I bet it sucks to be under a record label too. They have creative control of his route.
i'll agree that this project isn't as strong, but his lyrical content in Please Excuse Me wasn't THAT much different. That said, Please Excuse Me also set the bar pretty high. Toppin that would have been pretty difficult.
This album was such a let down man. I was so bored listening to it, which is not how I expected to feel listening to a Roddy Ricch album. Please Excuse Me was an amazing album that I’ve listened to countless times and is what made me a big fan of Roddy in the first place. Hopefully he bounces back from this album cause I don’t want to see him fall off any time soon.
Tyler the Creator went from Cherry Bomb to dropping three consecutively great albums... So Roddy has the talent and capabilities to bounce back if he takes his time to craft his next projects
@@UltraMegaFail I could definitely see why someone would say that, but his production (as a producer myself) puts me in the most indescribably dreamy state ever, no other albums have put me in said state, blow my load is one of my top 5 songs I think, and the chords on pilot are LOVELY something I have yet to recreate
@@learlawliet6197 I enjoy it too tbh... but if we are talking overall review from the masses... most hated it. Find your wings is still one of my favorite songs of his
Please Excuse Me is one of the best albums of the trap era! It's right behind Rodeo, DS2 & Culture. LLF was so disappointing because it was just another low effort, trendy feature heavy project that could easily be mistaken for a mixtape. We thought Roddy was going to give us actual ALBUMS that would stand the test of time...
Kendrick can wait a long time in between dropping albums today because he built up faith or loyalty with his fan base by consistently putting out quality music early in his career and because like the new album or not it is always clear that he put a a ton of work, passion, and creativity into what he's giving us. Roddy... you didn't do any of that shit bro and I'm sorry but one good (maybe even great/classic?) album does not earn you the right to half ass your second one.
honestly didnt even know he dropped till i saw the miami track on rapcaviar so i checked out the album cuz imo war baby was top 5 2019 singles and was honestly left dissapointed, hopes he drops sum better soon
Everything you said fam is exactly what I said and felt when I listened to this album. Roddy one of my favs but man I listened to it 4 times trying to like it more and never could.
As a genuine lil bird fan I was extremely disappointed and let down with the outcome of this album especially cause I know what Roddy is capable of, with this album he was getting out shinned by the features and they basically took over the song. His downfall in my opinion was not adding highly anticipated leaks/snippets like pray for me or , no gain or I don't know He'll redeem himself with ftslll trust
The album really good I think it’s amazing I honestly feel like it’s too early to say the album good or bad it’s only been out for 2 weeks playboi carti album showed you shouldn’t Judge a album so quickly I loved wlr when it first came out but everyone hated it now everyone loves it and the album doing really well now but everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.
I listened through the album twice, not because it deserved a second listen but because his first album is just so good. It's one of my most played albums period, almost every song is so catchy. Live Life Fast doesn't live up to Please Excuse Me in any way. It's like Roddy spent his entire life making that album and then two weeks making this one. It's so awkward and underdeveloped. His lyrics are recycled to death and there wasn't a single melody I can say I really cared for too much. Even the features are pretty lackluster and either outshine Roddy like crazy or just fall flat. I don't know, nothing seems to work for me here. 3/10, and that's generous. This was the most underwhelmed I've been over an album in a while.
When an artist has a big first album their second album usually doesn’t live up to the hype due to trying a different sound. but that third album is gonna be the one. He gonna take all the negative from the second album and make a better project
i feel like when rappers make something so good and then make a future project that dosent meet the same status as the previous album a lot of fans get upset by it. It happened to artists like Chance, Em, Migos, Lil Skies and it even happens J. Cole sometimes. I feel like it’s because they made such a good album and set the bar so high peoole expect something just as good and feel let down when it dosent happen.
I mostly Listened for 1 min of each song then skipped. Only songs that I liked a lot was Hibachi(with Kodak and 21), more than a trend, and moved to miami(with Lil baby). He had a good chemistry with those songs. Especially the ones that had a cool gloomy and echoey vibe.
Blacky Can you please do a review on Tory lanez's alone at prom I feel like the album deserves more recognition than it has because I haven't heard anyone talk about it
@@sleazyotto. people say that it "failed" because it sold less than PEMFBA by 40k (first album with 100k+ & llf with 60k+), so saying that it failed would be a slight overstatement, but not wrong
I feel like Logic's and Roddy's careers have took a similar route...they made it big and grew up, and aren't hungry to prove themselves anymore. Their family/personal life's are their current priority, which isn't a bad thing, but it does seem that atm music isn't their main passion(which kinda sucks as a fan, but I would rather have two of my favorite artists enjoying life rather than burning out or putting their careers over themselves and their family's).
Nah i dont see it like that at all. Roddy has had two years to enjoy himself and make this album. I dont know if he has a family, but even if he's focusing on his personal life, compare llv to no pressure. No pressure is leagues above. Disclaimer i dont really think it's good to compare these two artsists in the first place. Roddy is relatively new to the mainstream, since he dropped one very commerically successful album pemfba. He doesn't have the same excuse as logic for focusing on family when he's been promoting the album so much Logic has been in the game for years and officially retired after no pressure.
@Jack Villegas yeah every single artist from the past 3 years is an industry plant, only makes since that its only the last 3 years why wouldn't it be 4 years?
i didn’t even know he dropped an album. this vid hipped me to it. checked it out and i actually really like the first few songs. the hooks are really catchy. roddy’s lyrics could definitely be better but the sound and vibe of the music is really good Edit: I fw this FR but i do agree the lyrical content could’ve been much better. the hooks, instrumentals, and vocals/singing were my favorites aspects in the songs. late at night, crash the party, man made, and moved to miami are my favorite songs off the project.

It just sounds like some drown out album that he didn’t put much effort into and wanted to please more people other than his fans and he failed incredibly at that
someone do a study on album covers and if they have an effect. I immediately became disinterested once I saw the cover. Looks so cheap/boring compared to PEMFBA. I even look at DS4 that dropped today and wonder if it woulda had this big of an impact if the cover looked worse. DS4 cover looks raw and and for me, made me interested without any twitter talk
