He’s actually much more direct than Diaz, you know something is gonna happen when he has the ball. He has better physical attributes, can play on all front 3, much better workrate, stamina, defensive contribution, intelligence off the ball, playing as inverted winger getting those long balls from Trent. Better end product, that big game clutch factor too. Above all much higher g/a stats than Diaz. With all that considered, Diaz‘s probably at his peak football age and injury prone. Gordon can ONLY get better. Best left winger last season.

​@xixo4798 naa mate...the only thing I agree with you is that Gordon has a better g/a than Diaz...which is a fact. Other than that I don't think Gordon tops Diaz in any other departments. You talk about work rate and Diaz is like Kuyt in that department. He's as direct if not better than Gordon. It's just that it's not that the same as playing for Newcastle as playing for Liverpool, is it? 80-85% of teams sit back against us so it will look like Diaz isn't direct l, but he would look much more direct than Gordon if let's say Gordon was playing for Man City....it's just the way it is. The bottom line is in my opinion Gordon is not an upgrade on Diaz for at least the next 2 seasons.

Diaz is a good player but he likes an injury, he's been here three seasons and managed one full season, having less than half seasons the other two. Add to that a really poor goal and assist return... Not against the lad, I'm happy if he stays, but I'm fine if he goes too.

He's wonderful on the eyes, but his numbers don't stack up. Simple as that really.
