Its a good move. Once the structure is in place and relevant positions filled, I can be optimistic. As long as Murtough is not there and recruitment team overhauled, then I know real change has come. Then the issue of updating the squad and if the manager is suitable for the new vision can be addressed. Then we can say indeed Man Utd has entered the modern era. I really pray Glazers take a back seat and don't put a turd in the football punch bowl. They are toxic and negative influence on any progress.

On the one hand, it does look like he's taking the chance to get away from under the reputational damage when the Man City bubble implodes. On the other, if it does, I don't see how the people involved don't get sanctioned - presumably the club officials who are guilty of not submitting honest and true financial reports to the PL wouldn't just get away with it. Adam, the mistakes and lack of effort is on the players and the players only. The only common denominator are the players. Not many of the managers got all of “their” signings, and if they did, United waited for the luxury of overpaying.
@Paddythefriendlykiwi
@Paddythefriendlykiwi 5 месяцев назад
No, I don’t buy it. The culture lets players get away with that type of attitude. While the players are complicit, the higher level management allow that attitude to embed and fester, and here we are, 10 years later.
@thebiglebrowski3695
@thebiglebrowski3695 5 месяцев назад
Absolute nonsense. A managers job is to get the players playing. End of story. You either do that or you have failed. Ole had a MUCH worse team and got 2nd and 3rd. He spent less in 3 years than Ten Hag has in 18 months AND half the signings were done by Woodward and not Ole. Even when the team start losing the players weren't dropping their heads or giving a lack of effort. They just weren't good enough. The players came out repeatedly and said it wasn't Ole's fault but theirs. That isn't happening for Ten Hag because it actually is his fault. He is a toxic personality. There is a reason that Spurs rejected him for lacking charisma. No successful manager has ever been bad at man management. It is the most important part of the game. Just look at Jose. He was incredibly charismatic and had players who would for him during his successful spell. Now that he is older and more bitter and pisses players off, he can't even keep his job at Roma. Erik Ten Hag has 450 million reasons why none of his excuses wash. Just another failed eredivisie manager. He can join McClaren and Frank de Boer as failed managers
@Paddythefriendlykiwi
@Paddythefriendlykiwi 5 месяцев назад
@thebiglebrowski3695 and as Jose said, he had to manage everyone, not just the players. Got sacked when he lost the dressing room. The players sacked him. Same with Ole. Would be the same with Ten Hag. Sooner or later, you have to go through the pain to get to the end product. Now that Ten Hag has the structure being developed, he needs the opportunity to develop it. Say all you want about his signings, bit most of them haven't been playing this season, and the ones that have are coming into an unsettled team, in an unsettled club, ravaged by injury and off field issues. So see how he finishes the season, and let's make the decision then. Let's not repeat the same mistake over and over again.
@helli0n73

@@thebiglebrowski3695worst take. There is the saying ”the fish smells from the head and down”. Same is for United. Owners, staff and many more are the ones that have ruined the club for so many years. Players can act like divas(and crybabies) because the club and culture let them do it. Players have been given too much power. Everyone in the club needs to step it up now.

@@Paddythefriendlykiwi If he was signing young players for the future or at least playing entertaining football then maybe. He isn't though. He signed a bunch of players to try and win now and he is playing a win at all costs style that is beyond boring to watch so he has to starting winning now. Otherwise he has to go. It isn't like he is an elite manager. He is dreadful. Not a single good managerial trait. Fucking Spurs rejected him. Spurs. Because he "lacked charisma" and holy shit is that the understatement of the century. He has to be the least charismatic manager I have ever seen. I am not going to stand for "fans" wanting to sack Jose Mourinho (the best Transition football manager in history) only to back negative 54 goal Ten Hag ball. Ten Hag was ONLY HIRED for his style of play. He does not have the CV. He was only brought in based on the potential and his possession based style of play. It’s difficult to say. The optimist says it’s a coup to poach a serious executive who knows success in the previous organisations he’s been a part of. The skeptic comments just like in the video that the Catalans are in all the photos of success, and Berrada was not. The cynic answers that after leaving Barcelona, the club has fallen into financial ruin and has haemorrhaged world-beating players as a result. Is that because they lost the expertise of the likes of Berrada, or was it a sinking ship because it wasn’t being managed as well as it appeared? Equally, City have a multitude of white-collar charges levelled against them and Berrada was involved with the business side of the club during some of that time. He resigns from City roughly at the same time as the Premier League admits that there is going to be an escalation in the case against City with dates being set. I’m a United supporter. I want to believe that Ineos are a new dawn for my club and that serious people are on the way to make the necessary decisions to get us back to where we ought to be. It isn’t going to happen in the first six months though. Maybe not even eighteen months. Executives like Berrada aren’t supposed to be subject to the same managerial merry-go-round that we associate with football. They have been in the last ten years, to a degree. Let’s see what some serious people with continuity and a plan can achieve.

The Glazers manage Manchester United akin to a typical American hedge fund, prioritizing dividend generation over the sporting aspect. Their primary concern appears to be the share price rather than the team's performance. This situation is reminiscent of what occurred at Boeing, where the 737 Max program was exploited through extensive corner-cutting to expedite its release, resulting in a surge of orders. Unfortunately, the leadership at Boeing primarily consisted of pencil-pushing accountants and seasoned CEOs instead of engineers, leading to tragic consequences with people losing their lives.

Omar was a commercial man working for the CFG dealing with sponsorships, wages and bonus's since 2016 not Manchester City. He was 9th in the CFG/Manchester City hierarchy of execs, yes a good commercial man not a CEO. Manchester City have lost many execs to other clubs since Pep's arrival, 2 assistant managers, chief of recruitment, medical team, Academy. Manchester City will continue to be successful as the organization is not reliant on any single individual. The media needs to calm down over this transfer, it's a good acquisition but not the end of Manchester City's domination. I would love to know why SJR is putting so much of his time, expertise and money into the club and yet he will never own it. If united start to challenge for top honours the Glazers will just get more money and never sell. Can you explain the logic🥴
@samwize28
@samwize28 5 месяцев назад
SJR has a clause where he has first dibs on the glazers shares in the future at a fixed £33 price (which is much higher than the currnet price). The idea is that SJR increases the clubs value up to £40+ territory within that time frame (via making sensible choices and making football priority etc). Now the glazers can sell the club at that magic £33 rate to SJR. SJR wins because hes buying shares that are worth £40 for only £33. The glazers win because £33 per share is a very high price and will represent a pay day they would never have dreamed of. And they cant get greedy and sell for £40 to qatar instead for example because SJR has the clause that gives him first rights. Also note that the glazers are divided. The 4 siblings will cash out, leaving only joel and Avram as minority leeches as a worst case scenario. SJR 10000% wants the whole club. that should be obvious. We need to trust that hes smarter than the glazers (which as a self made billionare he is) and will outmanouvre them Ineos are a trogan horse and will take over MUFC. That is the hope atleast

I wonder, just as City pushed for Ronaldo, knowing the idea of him going to City would drive Utd so crazy that they would do anything to bring him back - with the intention of long term disruption at Utd by having him there. In the same way, are they letting Utd have someone who will long term implode and bring disrepute to Utd if he was involved in the City financial scandals. Is he a Trojan Horse being sent into the heart of United business, with City's blessing? If he was involved in the financial scandal, he will have to quit, leaving Utd in a worse state than before. Is this Art of War type tactics being played by City? Time will tell.
@mbahdiddo

To summarise your comments, this is the business risks that United must take. As a United fan myself, it's better to take this kind of risk rather than stuck with previous regime way of thinking. United particularly in the past 3 years really rotten to the core and clearly it was come from the club's leadership. Time surely will tell the outcome of INEOS project for United.
@johnmorrell
@johnmorrell 5 месяцев назад
I really hope so, too. I have the gut feeling that SJR and crew will start making a huge difference in how United are run - on and off the field - for the betterment of fans and the shareholders alike. It may take a wee while till we see the fruits of the changes, but come they will. As you say, that will involve taking risks. But they are very necessary risks. Here's hoping for a brighter future at OT.@@mbahdiddo

The question remains, will the skills and experience that Barrada showed at City translate into his new role at United ? As CEO he will be a couple levels at least above the CFOO role he had at City and therefore they won't be expecting their new CEO to be getting involved in sponsorship contracts and crunching numbers on marketing deals. Those aspects will be delegated to someone below his new pay grade. Could be 2 years before he gets the team he wants around him. Put the champagne back in the fridge for now re Barrada.

I expect fast change. United has been so badly run by owners who are clueless about football. United were caught by City, United will catch up with city faster then people think. City are a medium size club, United are a giant. Even now united are bigger then city but without any long term success. Omar will be a true legend once he gets United back to the top. The size of the clubs makes a huge difference.
