@@UncleKennysPlace Nope, lots of brain injuries can take years of extensive therapy to treat, and although he may never regain all brain functionality, it's definitely still possible that he'll recover enough to enjoy a normal life, and he's getting the best possible treatment.
I miss Michael Schumacher even though he wasn’t as consistent as the younger guys there’s no doubting his ability and speed was still intact. He wasn’t as consistent as he was in his younger days, but I still enjoyed him immensely. Just wish he could have gotten one more win. I also wish he stayed for 2 more seasons. Remember he was offered it. But felt he was only able to do one more. And Mercedes wanted 2 year commitment. I wanted him to stay in hindsight because he wouldn’t of had that accident otherwise. Also he would have fought for a championship in a third team. Forever my GOAT!
Well, I don´t think he was as brilliant and quick as his younger days (which is normal, he returned with 41 years in his back!!), but it´s true that every year was improving his driving and getting closer to Rosberg. In fact, he made a better year than Nico in 2012 (and we saw his last moments of brilliance, like his last podium and setting the fastest lap in Monaco), but his horrible luck in terms of car reliability, prevented him to surpass Rosberg in the drivers standings. It would be great to him if he stayed at least one year, with the Mercedes 2013 being way quicker than his predecessor, we maybe could have seen more wins for the Kaiser. But more important as you said, probably the duty of been F1 driver, could have prevented Michael from that terrible skiing accident
@AusWash not picking here, but the man has pride, and also if he's messed up to the point he or his family won't expose him to the fans as unable to present himself properly,
you forgot to mention he took basicly pole position in monaco in his last season but hat to start from 5 or 6th due to a penalty. making him one of the oldest pole time winners in recent years.
MSC was fastest at Monaco in 2012 during QUALIFYING Q3 in that horrible chassis ahead of the rest. I know the reasons why he was not granted pole and his history at that track a few years prior, but that doesn't take away the fact that he still had it in him. He tended to qualify lower than expected with single lap pace on tracks where braking with kers recovery were tricky (after long straights, unlike Monaco) but made up places the most compared to the rest of the field during the first few laps (without DRS) throughout his comeback seasons, adding to the entertainment of watching him climb into the points every race. He deserved a win at Monaco 2012 in my heart, and maybe the soaking wet Canada 2012 race (he was the best out there in that deluge if you take away DRS, but thats merely my opinion, nobody truly knows what would have happened otherwise).
@@keithgarcia8519 His comeback gets painted as disappointing, as it was on the whole. But there were so many reasons and variables as to why it was. The car in 2010 was setup to Button's driving style accoridng to Button himself, which didn't suit MSC. Same in general with the Pirelli tyres two years after. He also retired a lot more than Rosberg did. 5 times to Rosberg's 2 in 2011, and still finished, as said in the video, only 13 points behind. In 2012 he retired 7 times to Rosberg's 3. And crucially a lot of those were when the car was actually competitive in the first half of the season; China and Monaco being big examples (I'm not digging to see how many were in MSC's control as I'd guess a third were). I don't remember their quali performances.
@Nigel92 what a load of tosh? Setup for buttons driving style? Really? By your logic the 2013 mercedes was setup to michael's style, hence the reason lewis lost to nico. Oh wait, he didn't. He actually beat him that year.
@@jamesfeguson3445 they ended on the same amount of points and he had the help of his team. Alonso showed who was better from 2010 until 2013 when he lost out a double title by only 7 points. Lewis was never in a top 3 during that period despite driving a quicker Mclaren...
@@lukasgarage956 No accidents there. Much like the Ferrari revival years in the 90s, the Schumi/Brawn duo made wonders. Brawn himself asked Michael to join the team after the acquisition in order to work on the new car development (not to win titles). Mercedes picked up in 2013 after the groundwork was laid during 2010-2012. Hamilton and Rosberg were just there to reap the rewards.
you know that the main reason that a car is good is down to the engineering team? the reason merc were good in the early hybrid era is the engine. the reason they are good now is because they have developed the chassis and aerodynamics more. nothing to do with msc
I can't remember him ever winning any of those titles whilst racing against any other world champions in front running cars on the grid. Mabe in 2000 he did but Mika was kind of at the end of his career then. He certainly never got ANY pole positions while Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost were on track thats for sure. None of these things were his fault tho but did make it easier for him I believe.
What? lol he won races in inferior cars against the likes of Senna and Prost. He was still at the top beating young guns and future champs and legends like Kimi and Fernando and as a 43 year old took Pole and podium and perform competitively against Nico Rosberg (only for poor reliability) who just so happened to beat a prime Lewis to a championship.
@@ultrascreens5206 he did not beat senna and prost only the odd one off and always run behind them on track. He was out qualified by rosberg repeatedly who is not an all time great. He never had a world champion status team mate to fight against. He never got ANY poles when senna and or prost were on track. He was good but not the fastest or greatest. Over rated I'd say.
Chris Fleming he didnt get poles coz he didnt have the fastest car and in ‘94 he did get poles. He had way mor wins than poles which shows he didnt need fastest car to still win. As for Rosberg he beat a prime Lewis and 40+ year old Michael still was competitive. Pole in monaco in inferior car shows this clearly
Schumacher had his team mates to pull over at his request. Rosberg out qualified and out raced him because he was paid to win and was faster at that time. Your correct that in 94 shu had fastest car but senna got every pole before he died. Schumacher used his car as a weapon to hill in 94 JV in 97 and blocked Alonso at Monaco. Not actions ad a supreme champion.
Well it's good to see your taking my bait every time! The older you get the smarter you become so just be patient and one day you will realise what I'm telling you because right now your just too young to understand. Take care.
He lay the path for mercedes on their early stage of became an independent manufacture team after years working together with mclaren and indirectly helping lewis to becoming a great team they are right now, not only the mentality side of the team but also developing the car.
curious pugSchumacher layed nothing. Schumacher did no simulation work cause it made him seasick, Hamilton's input made Mercedes better and better, not Schumacher's input
For all his "development" why did nico consistently beat him? Isn't MSC the goat? This notion that he layed the foundation of lewis' success is a straw man's argument. Why isn't Alesi credited for laying michael's foundation in ferrari? Amazing the length's people will go to to diminish Hamilton's achievements.
MSC was not hungry for titles or wins anymore. Imagine if you're that age and have enough money to party the rest of your life. Back in his prime he was driving like a maniac. After tasting the sweet life of retirement, he simply didn't want to anymore. Besides that mercedes took him because of prestige and publicity. They were a new team, they had to boost their popularity.
@@titanmode3888 as good as simulations are they are still only estimations of how car will drive, the real data comes from practice sessions when drivers have to feel and give good feedback of what's is happening with car and how to make it better, Schumaher was famous of being able to set up car and helping the development. Why do you think they have 2 weeks pre season testing and 3 days testing before each race?
If they would race with GP2 cars, he might had better shot for 8th world champion for sure. More near to his early days cars. Cars that shapes feelings and driving style. And with age it can be very difficult to override these to adapt to more sim-racing type cars. That was my feeling during that time I keep that even more now.
Michael Schumacher will be forever a modern F1 icon. Sure Hamilton probably broke his record but he won’t be able to garner the same respect as Michael.
@@BergheVonTrips1 Hamilton is already hated to a degree that he won't be more respected than Michael. Sure, he's a great driver but he already got himself a "reputation."
@Ardimo- By whose reckoning?? This is why Hamilton fans say the things they do because of nonsensical comments like yours... "respect" is subjective, clear off Hamilton hasn't asked or need your respect...
@@justahuman8373 You and fellow haters need help-racism is the only reason for your comments and you should be ashamed. If by your standards he is not worth it what has that got to say about a bum like you who has not achieve what someone you believe is below you? P.S.. I am not black-just in case morons like you come back with this attack!
Retro Lover lol, Senna would be a fair argument, one of a few drivers you could say was as good or better. For me Micheal was the most complete and consistent driver (before Mercedes comeback lol)
@@AverageGamer2024 No Both Senna and Schumacher cheated at any opportunity, but yes I put Senna above Schumacher because he didn't need preferential treatment in the team and didn't demand number one status. At least Senna had the guts to teamate another champion. Every single championship MS won was with inadequate teammates and number one status. Wow what a champ he really is...... not. I would put Mansel above Schumacher any day. Not a constant cheat and to still be the only person to take back to back F1 and Indy champs is truly showing some class. As they say it's not the quantity it's the quality
rikster 111110 haha I think we will have to agree to disagree, although I can see the Senna argument, and it’s a good point. I just missed the Senna hype, started following the sport ‘95. It’s a great debate comparing drivers of the past, Clark, Stewart, Senna Fangio, Senna, Schumacher, Hamilton. Who’s better than who, we will never have the answer, unfortunately I’m just a Schumacher fan lol
if he'd stayed a couple more years most likely he'd be champion again as the only reason he was behind Nico in the points in 2012 was because he had more failures on the car. also had he continued to race then possibly his ski accident would not have happened.
I'm one of his biggest fans, but even I believe he would have fallen short. In 2012 the mistakes increased and while extremely fit, even he was as red as anybody else after a race. In his prime that never happened. So that advantage slipped away, which would have damaged his consistency on the track as well.
MS was competent after a three year absence but he wasn’t quite the old Michael. The narrator could have mentioned that Schumacher was fastest qualifier at Monaco in his last year (I think it was his last year)with Mercedes ( but had a five place grid penalty from Spain.) Topping Q3 (don’t remember if they used the same Qualifying format then)at Monaco is a small club for members of it.
Schumacher was much too old to stand any real chance of winning another race, let alone championship. Since 1990, only one race has been won by a driver over the age of 40 - Nigel Mansell in AUS 1994. Schumacher would have been 44 at the start of 2014.
I feel like if mec was better in 2012 and 2013 Michael would’ve won several more races. 2012 he didn’t even run that bad. He just had a ton of issues, and stuff take him out. Some of it was his fault, but others was just failures, and then getting collected. Wish he would’ve stayed for 1 more season. 2013 was a real up turn for them. It’s unfortunate that he set mec up for success and never even got to be apart of it, or know what came of it.
there was no way they asked Michael to do this, nope Michael wanted to do this his legacy of work in that period goes under the radar,he never joined to be a world champ driver again he joined to turn a new constructor into the biggest constructor in F1 and build them the foundations of a world class car and team. And he succeeded we are watching his legacy play out in front of us something the bosses at Ferrari wake up screaming about since it could have been them.
He definitely still had the speed. Just didn’t have his consistency of speed of his previous lap after lap. That and tyres where you couldn’t push without burning out. Similar to Webber v vettel from 2010 -2011
Yeah thats prolly cause he dipped After 1 Championship. U can Think what u want but it looked like he knew hamilton wont be dnf this often over the years and so he wouldnt win it again
I remember reading somewhere that Ross Brawn was hoping Michael would sign for two more years but he wanted one year to see the development before committing to the second. Apparently Mercedes were insisting on two so Michael walked. Pity he didn't do 2013
The testing ban was not good for returning drivers and new drivers. I personally think at his stage, to return with testing ban and not a redbull type title contender, he didn't need to do a ferrari 1996 repair and start a team again with Mercedes, fans could of been happy with him at Red Bull with Vettel.
Tire warmers are immaterial just for the first few laps that's all,not cheating just saved time and safer....I have a race kart and I was taking it easy on the first lap...turn 5 the power band came on and tryed to head for a light pole while I was cracking my visor a little, that's the last time I take a hand off the wheel in a turn, never again, into my head shot the thought now I see why they used tire warmer,it a safety issue ,if they don't they are just conserving the budget of teams no biggie...THANKS
My take from this.. Was a video really necessary for this.. 🤷 Wouldn't a small summary on his return have been better? This seems more like patchwork to me. I think he should have gone to WEC or historic racing instead of returning personally. 🤔 GP2 Engines have sounded better than F1 engines for years now. 🤪
Looking back on to my first few seasons being exposed to F1 (shockingly late in my life), I really do feel good having caught some of the 2012 season and full 2013. Between seeing Michael's last few races, to hearing the end of the V8 era, I really feel nostalgic about those broadcasts. Even if there were better seasons before, 2012 and 2013 were some of my favorite. 2016 being another podium contender for my favorites list.
Hmm to be honest i think the answer is a lot simpler in that he just fancied a shot and they were looking for feedback on the car anyway and who better to do that than the 7 times world champ.
Could you imagine, Australia 2021 and Micheal Schumacher pulls up on the grid on pole in he’s electric wheelchair. Sillyness aside hope he does pull through, such a shame knowing how for he use to be.
It's crazy to think that the man who was always living on the edge driving over 200mph in an F1/car. Got taken out on ski's 🏂 damn shame. Hope he pull through. 🙏🙏
