And it is infinitely more difficult to attempt to do so when comparing teams across eras, which you would have to do when comparing Jordan's opponents to LeBron's opponents. So that dictates what players would make up a roster in today's game. I think both players have a case to be made for the GOAT debate, but as time goes on, Lebron's case gets better and better and better. So much so, that when he retires, there might not even be much of a debate left. I mean, Lebron just made it to the Conference Finals at age 38. MJ was playing slightly above-average basketball on a sucky Washington Wizards team at that age. Still, I do think MJ has a case to be made, just based on how good he was in the 80s and 90s.
