Yeah. I did laugh at some parts too. I aknowledge it being a bad movie. But it was funny in some parts. My all time favorite is iBabe. I don't understand how Chris couldn't the critique of this short. It is the best one with a great message though.
Jude Ceant i too never did and never have i been so disappointed in my life it's like all those A- list actors agreed to do mass suicide to thier careers
Wow. Randomly rewatching this has made me realize that I’ve been following you for over 10 years now. You’re married, you have kids! I’ve been through multiple relationships, moved to different states, gotten engaged. So much has changed, but turning this on took me back to a time and place so far back. I love you, Chris! I’m so so excited to see your film, and so happy to see your life flourish. You’ve changed so much and it’s great to see you happy. Thanks for being there for us
I feel like the reasoning behind this movie is, "It's not funny, and that's the joke," which translated is, "I don't know how to be funny, so I'm just going to pretend that I'm deliberately not being funny."
No the reasoning likely was let's do a bunch of moronic skits that were rejected for Mad TV and SNL then put them all in 1 movie. This abomination makes battlefield earth the movie version look brilliant because that actually had a damn plot with main characters, and a climax. It royally failed to execute successfuly but still as a awful movie its entertaining. This abomination is like drinking a heavy dose of salt water plus eating burnt steak while being exposed to the odors of skunks, fish, onions, burnt popcorn, and vinegar in a small room. This movie is a utter abomination with no damn redeeming qualities at all. It's like a movie version of getting a zero on a test. Or if it's baseball be throwing out the 1st pitch it's thrown wide left into the other Dougout. The only good thing is this as a example of the kind of movie that never ever should be made again in Hollywood, Bollywood, and in the movies buisness.
This abomination is undeniably the worst movie ever if it can even be called a movie. Even the terrible lameass asylum movies which are notorious for ripoffs of blockbusters except very low budgets or not ripoffs still have freakin plots yes I'm complimenting asylum as being great compared to this abomination created by Hollywood because they still get the most basic trait of a movie right which is create a coherent plot while this hollywood movie fails completely no damn coherent plot also no damn plot at all. This abomination is so utterly dreadful that a 10th circle of Hell would be created with all copies of this abomination are transported to.
You mean a Horror Movie targeted at Everyone. Film Critics, Aspiring Filmmakers, Cinema Lovers and Storytelling Lovers. Movie 43 is a movie that Tortured everyone not just Critics
@@inexpertxennial6067 Thank God it's not just me. I also thought Kate Winslett's performance was spot on, she went from shock to embarrassment to confusion to the brink of madness in 7 mins. Jimmy Bennett's hysteria during the first period sketch was priceless. I loved Batman is an a-hole too. I watched it again yesterday and it seems way better now than back then and I thought all the actors seemed into it. It's not a million miles removed from something like Kentucky Fried Movie.
When people say the Star Wars prequels are the worst movies ever made, I will direct them to movies like "Movie 43" and "Dragonball Evolutions". Those are literally the bottom of the barrel in Hollywood cinema. At least the prequels had effort put into them.
When I say things like that, myself, I generally exclude movies like "Movie 43" because they're not really qualified to be compared to REAL movies. You'd never be able to measure anything against it, if you did. Lint in your pocket would still be a better movie. ;)
Well none of the actors wanted to do this movie, but they were tricked or blackmailed to do the movie... so I guess the actors did bad acting on purpose to get back at the filmmakers.
I couldn't make it through the whole thing, you are a brave man. Also, I am watching your reviews in a non-chronological order so it's fun to see how super young you look in the early ones, and also follow the evolution of your tattoos. Keep up the good work!!!
I really enjoyed watching the film. I think I've seen it 3 times. It's just like Scary movies, or Epic movie. I find it funny that some people were so disappointed; the trailer was pretty clear about what type of a movie this was.
I have a theory about this movie. I think many years ago all these now big time actors and actresses had sold their souls to the devil. What they would get from the bargain was that they would all become huge movie stars. But eventually they would have to pay the price. And that price would be Satan's attempt at making a movie for which they would all have to star in. And that movie was MOVIE 43. There's just no other explanation for these stars participating in such a horrendous movie. :)
+jeremybr2020 Your right, but doing this movie isn't the BIG sacrifice they have to make. They have to agree to sacrifice a loved one. Cosby sacrificed his son, Stallone & Travolta did the same. Mark Ruffalo sacrificed his brother & so on. They don't have to do it themselves, they just have to agree to let the CIA & similar groups do it & make it look like an accident(Huston & her daughter both drowned in a tub). They also have to attend certain satanic rituals with big politicians & industry pigs. The elite of this planet are true monsters.
sure there is. An alien broke lose from area 51 mind controlled this famous actors and made this movie to troll planet earth for fucking him over for so many years.
I started watching your channel late 2019 and it's fun to watch Chris get younger while I see his reviews going backwards from 2019 to his almost 10 years younger self... :D wich is a sign he got a good thing going!
Wow, this is an oldie (but very much a goodie)- interesting to see how your voice's timbre has shifted over the years (for the better!) to a lower tone that suits you very well. Either that or you got better at mixing the audio :P Keep up the awesome work, Chris!
+Norwegian Probably because you had to pay $5 for a movie ticket as apposed to $200, which could've got you a Game Boy, SNES, or Sega Genesis back in 1992.
As a critic who watches at least a hundred movies a year, I never even contemplate leaving the theatre... except with this. I actually stood up at one point (my theatre was empty) and started walking out, but I stopped myself and finished it. Just painful. I mean that literally. I felt sick after watching this utter trainwreck.
+Bass Lightyeah Just make a website and see as many movies as you can. Then write about them. Getting practice at a young age is paramount to your success.
I gotta say, I watched this movie with the same intention as when I watch The Room. Watching it with a filter of knowing it's bad made it way more watchable and made me laugh at just how horrible and inexplicable its existence was.
Well, Indonesian movies are mostly cheesy romance dramas with bad screenplays and horror movies that were maybe planned to be half porn (aside from both of The Raid movies and The Rainbow Troopers), is it as bad as those or worse?
MOST HILARIOUS FILM EVER!! I wet my pants the whole way through and still do. Your reactions are GREAT! I think your reactions are exactly what they wanted. Absurd is actually wonderful.
The worst skits in Movie 43 are either the one where the girl wants his boyfriend to take a shit (or poop as they say it in the movie since they say "shit" is nasty) on her, and the one with the cartoon cat. I want to know who was smoking what when they wrote those skits. I need to find eye soap after watching the cartoon cat skit, because that skit is one of things I could have gone my whole life without seeing. The bottom line, Movie 43 is so bad, it makes Grown Ups 2 look like a Martin Scorsese movie, hell, even a Spike Lee movie.
Strangely, I actually find "poop" to be a more disgusting word than "shit." I just watched that one scene in the Red Band trailer (like 10 seconds worth of footage) and I knew I was going to be awful. My faith in humanity has never been stronger than when I saw that this movie had been so horribly received by critics and audiences.
James Oldfield Trust me, it's a lot worse than that. Waring: The comment will be long and will contain some profanity. The skit was about a couple living in a normal house in a normal neighborhood. The boyfriend had a cat that was a cartoon. The cat was evil, and only the guy's girlfriend could see that. A few moments later, they show the cat jacking off to a picture of his owner (the boyfriend) in a bathing suit, and it was graphic and intense. I want to know who the fuck drew that, and were they by any chance under the influence of drugs when they drew that scene?Because a sober animator would read that script before he draws the scene, and slap the dumbass who wrote that skit. Hell, was the writer on drugs himself when he wrote that? Because like I said, NO sober person would be that crazy to write anything like that. I seriously hope whoever wrote that skit and drew that cat when to Narcotics Anonymous when they were done, because Movie 43 proves why you shouldn't do drugs and write a movie at the same time. Nobody deserves to ever watch that lazy piss poor excuse for a comedy movie. I wouldn't wish that piece of shit on my worst enemy, that's how bad it is. I would rather watch a marathon of Grown Ups 2, Jack and Jill, and After Earth 10 times in a loop than ever watch Movie 43 ever again. If you've never seen it, DON'T watch it, just give it the finger and tell it "fuck you". It is without a doubt the worst movie ever made.
spongebobfan190 Doesn't sound that bad :D It's only rated 15+ (for people aged 15 and up), and the highest rating here is 18+ (for people aged 18 and up).
yes it is my friend, instead of focusing on the negative things he may of done, why not take note that he made a very successful marvel movie that will probably be a trilogy
A.J. L. Personally I thought Gunn's segment of the film was the best part, and Brett Ratner's also good. The sad thing is that they're covered up by the other piles of shit that make up the rest of the film.
Everyone who said Movie 43 was hilarious needs to get their heads out of their asses. The trailer alone proves that it's a plotless film featuring a bunch of A-listers that's intended to be as controversial and sick as possible. So much for originality.
Restless Entertainment Although, he has stated that a hilariocity is either of these: A film that is so hilarious thats it good A film thats existence and the fact that it got created its hilarious. or a guilty pleasures. this movie could possibly be under the category where its hilarious that this piece of shit exists.
My wife and I saw it in theaters opening weekend. We were the oldest people in the theater and we're only in our 30's. Our theater pulled the movie the Monday after opening weekend. This movie is like walking in on your grandparents doing it.....something's can't be unseen!
The 'sketch movie' style doesn't *have* to be bad. Both 'Kentucky Fried Movie' and 'Amazon Women on the Moon' were absolutely brilliant movies. I had high hopes that 'Movie 43' would be a fun revival of that idea, but... no... no, it most certainly was NOT. Exactly like the 'Epic/Date/Scary Movie' franchise, this flick absolutely does not GET what made the movies that came before it successful. They think shock value alone is enough to get by. You have to be genuinely funny. Not just "funny to teens and anyone seriously intoxicated".
after watching this movie with a friend (per their request) I went to get dinner, and while thinking about it I actually stabbed myself in the thigh with a fork. then i thought i lost my fork. got another fork. and then realized the fork was in my leg. its that bad.
90% of people fail to see the irony of this movie being made. "This movie is everything wrong with Hollywood" Yes, that's the point. This movie was the internet troll before internet trolls were a thing.
I agree THIS MOVIE SUCKS. You people defending it, what the hell is it like in your head? This movie is boring and un-funny to the point where it's infuriating. Every single Scary Movie (even the last one) is funnier... -_-
I totally agree, it's incredible what films people will defend these days. Every year, Mike Judge's Idiocracy gets closer and closer to becoming a reality. Smh...
You know what Chris, I respect you. I mean that. It takes a lot of guts to admit that a movie like Dragonball Evolution that you feel damaged part of your childhood, much like the way that, Batman Forever + Batman and Robin hurt mine, is a way better film then Movie 43. You sir earned my respect. Nay, my admiration. I do hope that there will be more people like you.
always interesting to come back to old reviews and hear how different Chris sounds. it's charming... but I'm glad he got braces and improved his teeth and vocals.
Sid-Sic (이 시드니) The Conjuring was amazing. I haven't been scared of a horror movie since The Thing. And then The Babadook again in 2014. Annabel was complete garbage though.
I didn't think the conjuring was scary at all. But then again, I've been watching horror movies and reading horror books since I was three, so I'm a bit desensitized.
+Sid-Sic (이 시드니) I thought the conjuring was bad the moment it turned rathermore into the exorcist, away from building tension and not showing things. There was too much overexposition and effects round the end that had been done before, trying so bad to be scary it really wasn't... Also I personally I didn't think it was that scary at all overall, but it was an ok effort. I am really curious about the babadook though. Love me some psychological horror, or emotional aspect in the horrors. But it is sort of the same here that I got a bit exposed to horror to such extent I am not that easily scared.
It was quite funny sometimes. THe thing is that chris stuckman is woke. And since he is woke, he cannot like movies like these where the humor is actually very black and very hurting towards others. So yeah I get it. But i thought it was somehow funny at times. iBabe is my favorite skit,
Lewis Hartley I also thought it was quite funny. Yeah, a couple of the skits were cringe-worthy but it's no worse that many other movies I've seen. I think it's one of those movies where it's politically correct to hate it and god forbid if you dare disagree, lol x
It makes me even more sick that six years later, Peter Farrelly directed "Green Book" , which undeservedly won Best Picture at the Oscars. It was a better movie, but the guy who put "Movie 43" together should not even be considered for an Oscar.
The Veronica skit almost worked only because (bless them) Emma Stone and K. Culkin really went all in on the BS material they were given. "He was a wizard!" line was delivered so great. That's about the only credit I can give.
Okay, it was bad. It was really, really, really bad. But I still thought it was better than say "Meet The Spartans" or "Vampires Suck" or any of those god-fucking-awful parody abortions.
Even though I hate Seltzer and Friedberg and their movies, I have to say it... Whoever made Movie 43 makes Seltzer and Friedberg look competent. And yes, I mean it. The big difference between them is that Seltzer and Friedberg occasionally get a good joke (only to ruin it by overusing them). Every single joke in Movie 43 was dead on arrival.
+41Djfu#lksdkjfd Idiots? That would be those pissing their pants when the simpsons are repeating the same family friendly joke for thr 100000000th time
