I'm selling my Ford Ranger. It's got to go.... but why, I love it. Find out why I can't keep it and why I am replacing it with a vehicle that doesn't yet exist and no one has driven it. Am I crazy... I have ordered an Ineos Grenadier.
This is the ultimate off roader, or at least I hope so.

Great idea John, look forward to seeing it with Sierra in tow. I was lucky enough to test drive the 2B test vehicle. Plan on ordering one myself at some point .

Thanks Steve, Yep ordered the grey to go with the Sierra. Planning to take them both all around the country. I'll look forward to letting you know how it goes. Hopefully you will be joining me soon as a Grenadier owner. Thanks for watching. John

Well done, I lived in the Yarra Ranges Intel the last few years. You will only need to go as far as Toolangi to give it a good run when you get it. Yep good move on the lockers, I have them also. But the big question... what colour?? Thanks for watching, John

I am sure it is a great 4x4 and will be buying one myself but only once it runs for a couple of years. I can understand the excitement and don't blame you for that, this vehicle has a lot of great design invested into it. Personally I never bought anything that comes on the market for the first time, it doesn't mean the products are flawed but it's just me. Keeps us posted.

Hi, Thanks for watching and your comment. I think yours is a wise approach. In my case however I need a replacement so I am jumping in. Hopefully with no regrets! Keep an eye out for when I finally get it as I will be giving real feedback on it.Regards John

Looking forward to it, it's definitely the most interesting vehicle on the horizon at the moment. It has a few quirks I'm not so sure about, but very interested to see the final production vehicle which hopefully addresses some of the minor quibbles with the prototypes. It's great to see a manufacturer prioritising utility and off-road ability over luxury and town driving.

Hello again John, Any news on your build date? As mentioned previously mine is not til Jan 23 with, I reckon about April delivery. I’m still playing with the configurater. Went for a half height cargo barrier, bull bar with side rails and contemplating a full length pack rack. It looks extremely solid but lack of side rails or front and rear for that matter disturbs me a bit. Also (there’s more) it seems logical to have the 5.5t winch fitted during the build but for some reason the option is blocked at the moment.I spoke to a customer service member yesterday re this and was assured it would be available soon. It isn’t yet. I think I’m determined to spend the LCT “savings”. Regards…Steve.

Hi Steve, I haven't had any contact from Ineos other than the generic email that ran my build date out from October to November. The LCT pushed me over the edge with the winch and I have added it on the configurator. Bullbar a must as far as I am concerned, and I will be getting the rear barrier to keep the dogs back there. Roof rack I will wait and see, I reckon there will be a few options on that one and Rhinoracks have had a bit of bad publicity lately. Must say I am getting a bit edgy!!!! Thanks for you contact. Very interested in this new vehicle. The design looks great. If the engineering and build quality is as good as they are claiming then it'll be an excellent vehicle. I'm going to wait until some finished examples are available to test out before I commit to purchasing one.

Good luck with new vehicle personally I wouldn't buy a new model on first released you end up doing the R&D for the manufacturer especially if they haven't been proven in Australian conditions...look at the 2007/8 Landcruiser 200 ,the first release Nissan Patrol with 3 litre and the Hilux with DPF all took time to sort out. Pity it's not two of you cover on the rear seat dogs in the back. We leave our dogs with friends when we travel and reciprocal when they travel so many National Park & parks do allow dogs.
@cannyoutdoors
@cannyoutdoors 2 года назад
Thanks Ian, Yes I agree, a bit nervous about a first release but hoping they have done the extensive testing they say they have. I have traveled with the dogs in the back seat (i have a good cover) and it works well but unfortunately we are 3. The whole National Park thing with dogs is a real bummer. I reckon 99% of us are responsible and really care about our NPs but as usual a few spoil it for us all. Tanks for your comment. John

@@cannyoutdoors John I totally agree with your comments a dog desexed on a lead doesn't effect wild life all about management & responsibility. Previously I had dual cabs for many years fitted an ARB pressure hatch this reduced the dust ingress considerably. Cheers Ian. P.s Off with Matrix to Carnarvon Gouge soon.

One thing: if you’re concerned with hot temperature, why get a dark color? Having a lighter colored car would be much more pleasant in the temperature department.
@cannyoutdoors
@cannyoutdoors 2 года назад
Yes I agree lighter colours are more appropriate for our hot weather and much easier to keep clean. The issue I have is my lovely partner only wanted to have one input into the vehicle (she left all the accessories and stuff like that to me...) and that was choosing the colour. Case closed!!! Figured this was not a battle to pick ! And I do like the grey... I'll just be spending more time washing it. Thanks for watching and commenting, John

I doubt Ineos would ever let the Grenadier project be seen as anything other than a huge success, so they’ll back it up, no matter what. Their biggest hurdles are in scaling up production and having model variants at the right price points. The engineering is fine, it’s more like a g-wagen with all the unnecessary fancy stuff taken out. The service network and the leasing cost (and depreciation) will ultimately decide if it is a success in the market. If it is, you have a very smart buy, if it’s not then you have a very rare and collectible future classic in your shed.

Hi Steve, The Trialmaster has most of what I needed, lockers, BFGs etc. and a few things I don t need in the smooth pack. Added a few that I consider essentials, heat reflective glass, bullbar and side runners. Other than that, the spare wheel locker looks handy and alloys just because I think they look good, although the steelys are pretty cool too. My combo is the grey one in the video... hope i don't regret the dark colour!!! Thanks for your interest. What colour did you go for?

@@cannyoutdoors Hello John & thanks for getting back to me. I went for the solid green, also dark but a bit of a tribute to Land Rover. Other than that similar bits and pieces to yours. I passed on the bull bar and will have an after market fitted in Oz with compatible winch (long term) along with a roof rack etc. I did hum & har a fair bit prior to ordering re Ad Blue. Fuel capacity, servicing (I’m in Central Aust and my nearest dealer is 1500k’s away in whichever direction you look) but all was overruled by all the positives it offers. Still have a lengthy wait ahead as delivery is scheduled for Jan ‘23. Oh, I also ordered a heavy duty rear seat cover, we also travel with a pooch! If you hear any interesting whispers please post them. I did view an interesting post with Robert Pepper and Justin Holevar (Ineos Aust Pacific), worth a look. Regards….Steve

Hi Steve, Oh yes the green was on my list.. a great colour! Decided on the grey as my trailer is also grey. Interested in your thoughts re the bullbar. Central Oz you need one! I thought about aftermarket also but wondered how long before they would be available and the top of the line ARB is over $3k. So $1900 + LCT didn't seem so bad. However I am a bit concerned about not going with the winch and possible not being able to fit an aftermarket to the OEM bullbar. What do you think? Yep watched the interview with Justin..Thanks for that. Cheers John

@@cannyoutdoors Hello John, I hadn’t researched the ARB and had no idea it was so exxy..I think I will still hold off as I had similar concerns re fitting a local winch into a European b/bar. One extra I didn’t mention was the cyclone air filter. Looks a bit “Truckee” but might improve the breathing on our dustier (bull) tracks. I should have bitten the bullet a bit earlier, as I mentioned my car is not due until Jan ‘23.. Regards…..Steve
@cannyoutdoors
@cannyoutdoors 2 года назад
Hi Steve, the cyclone air filter is sensible choice particularly where you are located as it's not a snorkel and is not sealed it's purpose is to get cleaner air and I rekon sitting behind a road train for while you're still going to be sucking in a fair bit of dust. Had it not been part of the Trialmaster package I may have passed on the "snorkel" but is does look pretty good. I am still a bit concerned about the winch issue... maybe I'll have to remove the bar and buy the ARB plus a winch at a later date....groan!!!!. My build is supposed to be October but no confirmation as yet. Regards John
