Omega was my first big watch purchase - I bought a 44mm Planet Ocean with orange bezel, which I sold a couple of years later. Immediately regretted it, ended up buying a 42mm PO in black 6 months after that. I think the PO is far, far better than a Rolex sub. I've also got vintage Omegas too, the stuff from the 1960s and 70s are often both stunning and innovative for the time.

I'm biased here but I've really come to appreciate my first gen 42mm Planet Ocean 2500 with matte black dial, black bezel and white tri arabics "love the open 6 and 9 font" bought new in 2009, it just has such a timeless look, it's more subdued and elegant then the newer iterations, it has design ques that tie it to the classic Seamasters of the late 60's while still being of modern construction, I think Onega just got the proportions and styling right the first time.

Sales go to people who haven't spent hundreds of hours looking at watches. If they are spending a lot of money, they want it to stand out so they go for a bigger watch and we all have to put up with it.
He maybe could have worded that better, but he’s referring to AD’s ensuring flippers don’t obtain hard to get watches. I agree with this as well. Pure flippers in any industry hurt the rest of us who have true love for a hobby.
@@justace123 Agreed, that's what they SHOULD be doing, but all the indications are the AD's priority is feeding the flippers through the front door or the back one, and if you believe that Rolex, Patek or AP really care about that I've got a bridge to sell you. I live in a small but very wealthy place and there are at least a dozen Rolex and Patek boutiques within 30 minutes of my home, all pretty much empty. Yet there are an equal number of grey market stores with full stocks of every popular model still with the original tags and stickers etc. And some even claim they can validate the official warranties. So what does that say about the AD's?
How did we get to this point, HOW?? "an AD's job is to make sure the watches get in the hands of the right ppl" This is complete crap!! An AD's job is to sell things. You don't buy milk on the understanding you will only use it in tea, and never make a milkshake. Once you've bought something, it's entirely up to you what you do with it. Rolex themselves have created this daft situation, don't now allow the AD's actions become the norm. How do we allow Rolex to act like shits. You knock it when a mid band does it, but it's ok for Rolex. No it's not ok for Rolex. Stuff the brand. The situation is just getting worse. It's like you're bowing to a dictator, and believing them?? It's brainwashing, mixed with skocholm syndrome.

I'm glad you touch on proportion, as watch channel's rarely do so. Proportion is drastically more important than size. The reason people with small wrists can where one 42mm watch but not others, is down to proportion not size. Beauty is also intrinsically linked to proportion and symmetry, which is perhaps obvious to state, but so few brands/designers seem to take that seriously enough these days. Great video as always! Boom! Watch fam 🤗
Agreed. I think that’s why watches of different sizes can work well on the same wrist. And also only one watch may work between two watches of the same size
There is a reason my Seiko 5 wears so good!! Heck, I inherented a newer model Seiko chronograph (solar) from my uncle and I was staggered when i found out it was 45mm! Yes it looks big but still doable. Proportions is everything
Agree, I really want to thank the guys for addressing how some brands seem to dig their heels in when their customers ask for smaller case diameters. I'm one of those with small wrists and I feel the size range that is proportional and looks best is 36mm to 39mm. I just got rid of a beautiful watch that was 41.5 mm as it just looked way too big. Too many watches I want and would definitely buy are over 40mm. There is a Longines Conquest VHP where the men's watch is 41mm and 43. They have a women's watch that has the exact same design but is a 36mm, which I would definitely buy, but it's next to impossible to find those. Anyway, keep pushing brands to listen to their customers. Maybe if enough online review sites make noise about the issue, some may finally listen.

5:58 “treat yo-self! Between you and me, the odds that your wife got you something that you wanted is pretty slim” Laughing at the irony that fiancée got me the John Mayer x Hodinkee G Shock for Christmas so I’m feeling pretty lucky and this podcast was on point 😉 Great podcast guys! I absolutely agree Omega has been crushing it lately. I have been wearing their 3861 Speedy pro since last year and it has been fantastic. The bracelet, fit finish, METAS, accuracy, everything tbh. Omega is really listening and making improvements in the areas where customers ask for them and makes me look forward to more Omega rather than that brand we all know with the absurd waitlists.

Am I the only one who remembers Christian trashing the Globemaster when it was released? He specifically claimed that the fluted bezel was a datejust ripoff (without realizing that it actually came from the early 70's Genta C- cases). Glad you came around Christian :).
The perspective is one that I share. I have always mentioned that Rolex particularly ought to create something between 36 and 40 for MOST people. The 36 datejust for example is too small for a 7" wrist, while the 41 too large. I have also found this to be true for the Cartier Santos medium and large models. On the other hand the Omega Aqua Terra and Speedmaster in 38 both fit superbly. What makes things worse is that the Tudor black bay 58 is considered almost perfect by many at 39mm but Rolex fail to implement such sizing in their own range. Strange.

My understanding is a “Golden Handcuffs” is not you are paid so much money you can not leave. It is that you have been tied into x amount future remuneration that it is difficult to leave. For example x amount of stock or bonus that you only draw on after a specific amount of time. Love the bromance, keep up the good work!
I can 100% confirm this is the proper meaning of the term. when stock incentives are worth so much in the future you can't leave or you'll loose them...

Is Christian drunk? Lol. I agree with Michael on Seamaster 300. What's the height comparison between the new 007 titanium bracelet clasp and the new Rolex GMT jubilee clasp?

50 fathoms is good and proportions are awesome. It's big but wears small. It's the bathyscaphe that looks empty. And it's the bathyscaphe that you showed in the pic when speaking about the 50 fathoms...
Love to heard that the Blancpain FF is better that Rolex. I have a Omega PO 45,5mm and it’s perfect for my wrist, my Blancpain FF 45 mm is the same. Just a question of proportion on your wrist.

It is MADE IN CHINA, and that is the main reason for the way too many faults after being in fact Swiss ASSEMBLED, no more, which is all the "Swiss made" printed claim can mean. The CHINA-MADE parts are made so cheaply that the Swiss-payed shipping + Swiss assembly + Swiss offices + Profit Margin = all in all over 50 % of the value of each watch easily derived in Switzerland. NICE TRICK. Don't buy Omega.
Have a Omega speedmaster MW and Railmaster never had a issue with either. There very solid watches especially the Railmaster that watch has been through hell and back and refuses to give me a issue in any way. Also have a Explorer 1 but I'm done with Rolex I can't deal with that brand anymore a Zenith El primero open heart will be my next watch. The Rolex situation is mentally exhausting and just not worth the greif and its a bit of shame because I do like some of there watches
oh. really ???? i dont quite think so. to me, omega watches are best from 1950s to 1970s.... they lost their way since. i have an omega tank quadrant sector rectangle handwind watch and previously an 50s constellation with golden medallion at the back with bumper auto movement
The new Omega Speedmaster feels so much slimmer smaller lighter and more refined than the previous one while keeping the classic Speedmaster look. It’s a awesome move and the Seamaster 300 heritage has had a similar tweak. Omega are on a roll. They just need to do a similar job on the Seamaster professional and take it back to a 41mm.

I’m so glad you guys finally gave the new seamaster some love. I have the white one and I’m obsessed. Yeah the bracelet is a little hard to get used to, but holy SHIT it is COMFORTABLE, and the quick adjustment is amazing.

Golden Handcuffs are deferred financial incentives i.e. benefits or shares that will be provided to an employee after a set amount of time in the company
I have 3 omega and 3 rolex. The omega are slightly better Lumed and seem to have a much longer power reserve. Right now it's a dead heat between my omega world timer GMT and my Yachtmaster for wrist time....
I recently purchased the Omega Seamaster 300m in two tone Sedna Gold and Black Ceramic dial on rubber strap. I went rubber strap because, although I like the functionality of the steel bracelet, I highly dislike how it looks. Rubber strap works so well with the watch too, it brings down the flash of the watch. The ceramic dial changes in every lighting condition and it makes just looking at the dial an enjoyable experience. I will eventually get a rubber strap with a deployment buckle to make the on/off experience a little better vs. the pin and buckle. Nonetheless, I highly recommend looking at the two tone variants of the Seamaster; it might surprise you!

I love your videos guys, you are effortless, funny and educational. I have a suggestion, since English is not my first language, I prefer to watch your videos with subtitles. In this particular video you are using hard subtitles, which shows up at the same place as generated ones. That makes it less readable. I would suggest you to put hard subtitles in the top of the screen. That might be also helpful for hearing impaired people when they’re watch your videos . Thank you and keep up with great work.
I feel like anyone who dedicates their lives to serving the country deserves to skip the atrociously ridiculous Rolex wait lists. Good for you TJ your AD is a real one!
@Yorkiepoocharlie what about them? Do you not consider them to be of the specified group? First responders as well? I cant tell if you're trying to throw shade at me, or them? Your comment seems like you're trying to put me in some sort of defensive position like I've done something wrong. You sound like a crybaby liberal Democrat leave me alone.
Just to add to your comments about Blancpain, when they do decide to do a 40mm, they make it a special edition (for which they need inputs from the likes of Hodinkee🙂, imo it’s the product team that needs laying off); and they usually put their brand name on the side of the case, just in case you forgot which watch you’re wearing and are too lazy to look at the dial!!!
I think brands like blancpain definitely knows what the market really wants, but as a brand under cooperate structure, they really don't have the flexibility to do anything in the watch industry. They need allocation of all kinds of resources from its mother company and they have to be extremely patient with the market to react to it. It will result in lack of funding or performance from its sister brands which will affect the financials to its mother company as a whole. Thats why independents are much easier to make adjustments when trends shift and it reflects on today's market that mass majority of the madness comes from indes including Rolex.
I am having similar Omega 300 Seamaster Chronometer.........Super Semi-Vintage Omega!!!..........to me, my Seamaster is the Best Seamaster after current Omega "Tomorrow Never Dies"..........you should get this Omega 300 Seamaster Chronometer a after market Mesh Bracelet, trust me, you will not regret
Amazing Bon Iver shout. Love that video. As someone (now in 30s) who almost exclusively listens to alt rock / acoustic playlists curated during high school, I can appreciate. If you haven't heard his live performance of Re: Stacks at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, you're missing out! Cheers!
I wish Omega would update the Aqua Terra bracelet and add a diver's style clasp with a self-adjustment feature. The 38mm AT is on my want list but I do not link the butterfly clasp. Any thoughts on when Omega might update it? Nice Barbour jacket.....
I have one but I don’t think they could offer this on anything other than the butterfly clasp. It’s not a diver and is dressier so if the clasp is a deal breaker, there’s loads of choice in 300 SMP or the PO or the Seamaster 300 which is really cool with an adjustable bracelet.
I love the content gentleman! Hey what’s the intro song that you guys are using? I can’t find it anywhere. Please let me know. Thanks and keep the videos coming. I bought my first Rolex 1601 because of you.
