Indeed, ignoring this was the one criticism I can make of the video. He even noted the often ignored fact that pandas breed just fine in the wild, yet ignored that they are no longer classed as endangered.

At least conservation has worked fairly well for the panda, their numbers in the wild have risen enough that they aren't even classed as endangered any more, just threatened.

Baijis are still hanging around, most limely in areas people can't easily reach. They may be functionally extinct but we will maybe find more in the future.

Claww04Gaming I mean, is it tho? It doesn't have the coloring of any real bear, it only has the general vague shape, and it lives in similar areas to grizzlies. But it doesn't act at all like a grizzly. It literally acts like a panda. Maybe they supposedly based it on a grizzly, but it just simply is NOT.

Eats pretty much everything until satisfied, sleeps until hungry or disturbed, dangerous when it wakes. I'd say it's much closer to the average bear than a panda, although i don't think it learns biting or clawing attacks? That's kinda weird if bears were it's inspiration.

Actually pandas were once quite widespread, historically ranging through southern and eastern China, northern Myanmar, and northern Vietnam. Habitat destruction as the regions human population exploded caused them to lose most of the areas they once inhabited, restricting them to mountainous areas that aren't even the ideal habitats for them. So no, humans are the reason pandas got in trouble in the first place (but also the reason their numbers have substantially recovered). As for predators and competitors, pandas are quite capable of defending themselves (like most any bear is), and there are no other large animals that feed primarily on bamboo.

Actually its because of humans that they probably will die out earlier than they would've without us. Seems like everyone in the comment section hates pandas. I dont love them either but im not pissing on them lol.

But why should they? Why is it a bad quality to not be wanted for food? That would be impressive from most other animals. Also why should they be able to swim? What would they gain from that? Why should they intentionally leave the street with the food? Also the same is true for sea horses, many jellyfish and man-o-wars.

Crabominable evolves from Crabrawler, which is based on the coconut crab. And coconut crabs are DELICIOUS! Ergo, not the worst pokemon.

Its real life comparison is ok. It roughly lives near hydrothermal vents feeding off bacteria that live there. (Nothing maladaptive save for probably being blind in an environment where eyes don't matter).

I had a decent discussion with ecologists friend of mine on what the recent wave of construction and modernization of our once somewhat small town would do to certain local species. The conversation ended up going to pandas. Whether or no not humans had an effect on their preservation or near extinction. Simply put, pandas are at the end of they're evolutionarily branch and will probably not survive without human interference

also what if pandas were forced to eat bamboo? cats are carnivores but us humans keep forcing their feline friends (house cats that is) in to eating vegetables... because they have no choice! they dont want to starve to death so they have no choice but to eat whatever the carers offer them, and some of that food for them contains vegetables... so a part of me thinks maybe pandas were forced to go on a full vegan diet despite their bodies being adapted to being carnivores? also look at how some vegans even deny the fact we're built to be omnivores (which means being able to eat meat), not herbivores

You are not a panda and it doesnt justify sticking with a diet that is completely out of place or lazy tendencies or low breeding. In all environments predators are less in numbers than those they prey in, so they need to breed to keep the numbers. Even if only half of what Gnoggin said is true it still makes pandas seem totally idiotic

In fairness, the laziness is just the fact that their diet is poor; they're physically unable to work up the energy for things. It's not a direct choice to be inactive, it's a consequence of their dietary folly.

@@blarg2429 Alright i recognize that's a good point. I think we should try and restructure their diet, tho. Try to make them more carnivorous, because they have the tools, but their mindset is what hinders their development. I'm afraid we have domesticated pandas too much while trying to protect them, thus they became more childish, to put it in a way.

@@M4x_P0w3r OK right, 1) yeah no I'm not like the 'on all levels except physical I am a wolf' guy 2) the diet was probably used to avoid competition. 3) it's not that they don't breed, it's that they breed slowly as it reduced the risk of overpopulation back when they lived in a nearly problem-free world. 4) pandas are not domesticated animals, some are trained and in captivity so those individuals could be considered domesticated, but that is the same for most animals in zoos etc. The wild pandas are most certainly not domesticated

Not really, the problem was that they don’t want to mate when there a bunch of humans standing around, watching them, also they aren’t allowed to compete for the females attention which in turn doesn’t let them get into the mood

I'm sure if people looking after pandas in captivity can stop spoiling them with bamboo, they could try and put a lot of effort in to encouraging a panda to try some meat, I've seen a monkey that was raised in captivity due to stupid pet trades, being rescued from the previous owners, because the previous owners was spoiling the monkey with an unhealthy diet of sweets... but managed to encourage the monkey to eat some bugs which is what its primary diet should be! (it is an omnivore but still... they need the protein!), if someone can put the effort and even patience to help encourage the monkey to eat what it's naturally supposed to eat... then surely someone should have the levels of effort and patience to do it for a panda tbf maybe thats why pandas chose to eat bamboo? because maybe they were forced to eat it? because that's will to survive! they dont seem stupid enough to let themselves starve to death, if they were they would have died by now... but they havent! they're still here, because that's the will to live! so perhaps they had no choice but to eat the bamboo and got too used to it, never had enough effort to encourage them to eat meat? look at cats, they're supposed to be carnivores, but the reason they eat food that contains vegetables, is because they have no choice... it's the only thing their owners are offering their house feline friends! it's either force yourself to eat something even though you're not really supposed to or die of starvation.. what if that's similar with pandas? maybe the people in captivity are simply being too lazy to put as much effort to giving them the proper diet? (this is what I think btw)

Literally everything about the panda is biologically built for meat and only meat all the way down to its stomach, intestines, and even teeth structure. That’s why the bamboo it eats makes it so lazy, it’s digestive system literally cannot take out the little nutrients bamboo has properly while herbivores can. Some carnivores can get away with eating lots of plants, but the panda is not one of those carnivores

The term is "obligate carnivores". Just because a dog can eat some plants doesn't mean they all work like that. It is retarded to compare a shark to a panda. It is like comparing an apple tree to a nightshade bush.
