Hey Stich, do you even remotely understand how amazing you are at explaining stuff? It's just mind blowing... I've been playing for 20 years and picked up a lot of things from many different musicians including people on YT but dude... I can't tell how many times I got something incredibly useful from you and that at the same time revealed a huge hole in my knowledge/understanding of this instrument, especially blues guitar. You are second to none when it comes to that.

Literally the only channel I’ll sit and watch a video in entirety multiple times and I mean I’ve been playing for only ~4 months and I feel like every other video explains something makes it so much simpler. The neverlost minor video pretty much taught me the 4 other positions and the roots in an hour because it teaches you three strings automatically

Before I ventured into English Comp 1 in college I needed Writing Skills. My professor was teaching me how to write a 5 paragraph essay. After turning in my first essay my professor told me "Not what I was asking for". Then came the tutorial dept. That professor gave me the formula for writing an essay, and that's when the light bulb went off. Stich you just did the same for me. Thank You for this tutorial. I'm a 70 yr young guitar player and teachers like you are making my journey a pleasant one.

A great lesson! : ) You're dead right about making up your own licks. You should spend your practice time improvising. This is what the greats have done. Sometimes you'll play and you'll incorporate a lick you've heard before, or one you've used before, just because it sounds right. Also, if it's a song, rather than a backing track, refer to the melody and the syncopation now and again, then the solo will fit with the song. The pick-up doesn't always start on the 'four', very often on the 'and' following the 'three'.

Just curious, what gauge strings do you use? I played 10's for years and just switched to 8's, don't think I'll ever go back to 10's. Not because it's easier to play it's because I feel like I can put more feeling into my playing as the lighter strings change sound much more with lighter or heavier picking/strumming.
