What I don't understand is why they would make the ps5 only have 600gb when every new game is over 100gb so you need to get an Internal SSD that's more than the ps5 itself
@@Skye_YTT Its always cheaper to install a 3rd party SSD, Sony gave the PS5 the option to have that SSD slot for that very reason. It would be a crazy price bump to buy a Sony built 2TB or more internal stock SSD for PS5
@@Skye_YTT Thats how lazy people go broke, waste all their money to avoid small amounts of work whether its buying a premade high spec PC or simply always buying takeout refusing to cook. Stay broke and waste your money when all it takes is less than half or half the money to do it yourself
@Toki you dont have room on the hard drive for even that. especially when all games are getting ps5 upgrades. then on top of that you need the full space of the game to update them. so the ps5 holds like 600 i cant have more that 450 gigs or so without having an issue where i have to delete a game. i dont know what games you play but for me thats 5 to 6 games tops. add to that a ton of games i play daily cause they require it. this ammount of space is a joke. every game is becomming a "ps5" game so you cant have them on an external. they keep getting updates. our you can keep the ps4 version... but then why do i even have a ps5 😂 also if xbox is worse than this 🤣 skip next gen entirely and buy a pc lol.
One thing we have to remember is that Sony is notorious for locking consumers into their proprietary system (eco-system). We saw what they did with the Vita and its memory sticks. I believe they do the same with their cameras. They are milking their brand name. I love Sony products but don't like how they do this. Also, Nintendo and Apple do this as well every chance they get. Nintendo 64 stuck to cartridge to get royalties instead of jumping into CDs.
All we can do is move ps5 games from the other hard drive once in a while when we want to play them it’s our only option besides redownloading it would take longer
Bro this why pc is always going to be superior because we don't have to pay crazy prices for storying ps5 games i can simply get a 4tb hdd drive for the pc and play the latest games without having to worry about paying for an internal ssd
would you pay the price? sony will do it if they knew people would buy it. so many cried about the ps3 being $600. ssd prices are way lower than what they used to be when the ps5/seriesx came out.......
This makes sense 100%. I have an internal SSD for my PS5 and just purchased a 5tb external SSD for my games. I have nearly 40 PS5 games and was running out of space. This is perfect for me. I can have a top 5 or 10 on the internal and have the rest on the external. I don’t need them all immediately available. On my Xbox I have external and internal drives totaling 12tb and they are all ready to go.
@@MrRandoNando Yes. you have console storage and internal storage. Yes, you can run PS5 games from both of these but not for external drives. External drives, you can play PS4 games directly from this with no problem but can only store your PS5 games with it. PS5 games demand more to help them run their best, that’s why only the console storage and the internal will work. Sony does have a limit to how much internal space you can have. I think 2tb is the max.
@@jjordan8884 I’m referring to a internal 2tb WD black SSD w/ heatsink. PS5 does not come with this. SSD is required to run your PS5 games, besides what memory Sony offers out of box. An external SSD, you can store and play all PS4 games but you will need to transfer to the internal drive in order to play PS5 titles. Hope that makes sense.
So if I understand correctly, the only way to storage games and saved data is the cloud storage? Because I bought since my ps4 years a 1 TB a external usb hard drive to store all the games instead of deleting them to free some space, now I need to manage storage between consoló and usb but everytime I want to play a ps5 saved on the usb I need to copy it to console and it takes hours 🥲
Dude, I have 4 ps5 games installed. 4! And I can't play all of them because they are too large. I play them all consistently, so I don't know what to do. I have to move one to play another, and it's a pain in the ass.
@foxyrules2190 The reason it did was because there were duplicate copies of the same game in the ps5 & external storage. I had to erase one, and it ultimately went back to normal.
Thats just not true. I have a Seagate external hard drive that I bought for my PS4 that only says it's for PS4. I plugged it into my PS5 and I can play them all just fine. I even have a couple of PS5 games on the external hard drive. It plays them too.
Even an external ssd faster than the internal ps5's ssd can't run ps5 games because it is connected with a cable and the data transfer from the cable isn't fast enough to read the ps5 games. An ssd to utilise it's full potential must be installed directly to the motherboard like the NVME PCIE GEN 4.0 X4 M.2 2280 ssd
so is it only the external drives that you can’t play the games from? i can still buy an internal m2 ssd and expand that storage in that slow and play on that drive right?
The best part of this entire video was when he said that just the way it is 🤣🤣 But getting to the point is really Interesting meaning this video is very interesting to listen too
I cant be the only one.… i vividly remember playing my games from the external hd and then at some point i was forced to copy games back onto the console…
Yeah me too 2 weeks ago i played lego starwars which is on my extended storage and not on my ps5 storage but now i gotta copy horizon forbidden west to my ps5 storage
So have they changed this? My friend has all his ps5 games on his external and says he's playing off of there and it works fine. He has to be tripping I said lol
What if we used a m.2 gen4 nvme with a external case that supports 10gbps.. will i be able to play my ps5 games from that external drive..? Edit: Im already using a 1tb gen4 m.2 in the expention slot in the ps5.. but i want more space.. if this is possible when ill just change my 1tb 2.5' ssd for a 2tb m.2
No incorrect. I have been playing ps5 games off external external drivers up until today. And ONLY until today. So I'm sorry this is not a technical issue. This is a Sony policy issue. My ssd is faster then a ps5 read speed, it was an investment of massive proportions. Useless now. Absolutely useless.
The reason why u can't play ps5 games on an external ssd that's faster than the ps5 internal is because Sony is pushing the idea of their ps5 being advanced technology. In other words, marketing
I just picked up an external hard drive last night and it clearly said for ps5 on the package which led me to think okay they make one for ps5 and it fucking doesn't
Both microsoft and psx did this on purpose. I am not going to give a single cent to both companies. Imagine buying an external drive and then you can't use it to play the games.
Question. I know everyone says you can store PS5 games on an external drive but not play it directly from there (people say get an SSD) But a friend of mine showed me him being able to boot up Cold War (PS5 version) from a USB extended storage without a problem. Sooo, is the hard drive usable but just slower or does my friend have the best luck ever?
Same thing with my buddy but a little different story. He wanted to be able to play games off the external but couldn’t, so there was something we did and I can’t remember it specifically because I can’t do it on my ps5, but he put astros playroom onto the external an did a few things then it downloaded onto the ps5 itself but it was still fully on the external. I think it was possibly the save of the game was moved to the ps5 an therefore you play off the save while the game is on the external? I’m not 110% sure but I’d definitely like to figure it out.
What's the point in creating space and you move files but you can't use them that doesn't make any sense for all that you might as well just delete the game and re-download it
Is there Like a Drive for Extended Storage for u to download play and both New PS5 and PS4 games because I’m a little nervous on what will happen to the PS4 or PS5 games or both console games
If anyone could answer my question here it would be greatly appreciated If I can only store ps4 and play ps4 games on my external hard drive for my ps5, do those games still get graphical updates or are they quite literally just ps4 games being played on my ps5? So should I then prioritise putting my ps5 games that I play a lot in the console storage?
HHD is not faster than SSd that is a fact I am look for any information saying what you just said and that's literally nothing online about it it's impossible for a hard drive to be faster than SSD what is a hard component the other is electrical impulses so wherever you getting your information and it PlayStations releasing that and saying that it's literally bull shit
@@cydragon2.099I got a steam deck for my Pc fix so I won’t be getting a Pc anytime soon, I just use my ps4 as a backup storage for any other games I don’t want to put in my 4tb hard drive and ps5
This is dumb. The base console does not have enough space for these new games. We should be able to play our PS5 games in the extended storage. The base console storage is actually so small its not even funny.
Your the guru… so can you explain why I can’t store a fraction of immediate game required for playing on ps5 and bulk data and and slower aspects that can meet pace in storage constantly looping off screen feedbacks like a conversation… Is this possible in update to delegate something for the consumer needs? I don’t want to wait 25 minutes to trade a game to play a game… I feel like much of the game is dormant and my save point and immediate information is the fast part. Can they sync it up to separately focus and communicate between the two systems immediate and background chatter? So potentially in your knowledge could they make this feature available. FYI I know nothing about technology. What would be even better… Is if I’m playing a game directly, the others I are automatically stored separately to optimize speed over storage and the compatible systems can work that out by themselves… I would pay for such a product double or triple the cost of this ps5 3 terabyte unit that I am questioning…
I explained poorly… Ps5 stores say 10% of game I’m seeing Storage stores big picture off screen non used chatter and locations say 90% of what I’m downloading. This would be acceptable to me if they automatically transitioned as I played game.
Ive been playing games off my HDD until today.... so for some reason my country never had this feature or update... Its never been an issue. Why in SA they only had this update today is buldust
It’s not fast enough? It used to be. I used to play and still have ps5 games installed on my external hard drive. Then….. they updated it. The update stopped any ps5 games from working on external. It’s bull shit. It’s a scam. It used to work. It used to fucking work just fucking fine.
I'm with you. They need to ATLEAST make ps5 compatible external drives because ssd's r stupid expensive. I got a 2tb external for my ps4 for 80$ and a 2tb ssd is going for 200-300$ which is crazy.
Really starting to miss my Xbox. PS5 is cool. Just can’t do half the things Xbox can. Like no quick resume and can’t play off a hard drive smh sad man.
kinda unrelated but i have an external hard drive from the ps4 and i tried ti play one of my ps4 games on ps5 and it wont put the data on there? it hooked up just fine and i tried to safe mode it but it hasnt worked
I have Gta V on my PS4 on my External hard Drive. When I get a PS5 I will plug the External hard Drive in to play all my games. If I update Gta V to the PS5 version on the PS5, Will I then have to move it to the PS5 console system to play it?? Or any game for that matter, if they are updated to the PS5 version of them? If so then I’m going to get a Internal SSD at the same time I buy a PS5.
You can store PS5 games into your extended storage but of you want to play them, they would have to be downloaded onto the console to be able to play the game.
Well I just bought the Firecuda 530 1TB ssd yesterday, and I can play ps5 games from it. So if you’re looking into buying one then you’re absolutely fine yes you can play your games from it
It might’ve been because the firecuda you put inside the ps5 and it acts like a new ssd or like another ssd the ps5 came with if that makes sense (did you put it inside the ps5)
Can't you make an adaptor lead from the M.2 port to a hard drive or ssd owe no good then 5 times slower lol Well we need 8tb M.2s then lol So if it was uncompressed would it read better
This is bullshit, im findin this video in 2023 n this is da first time I’ve had this issue where I can’t move my games to usb n still play it, complete bullshit every fuckin decade with these consoles
