Why Rachel Lindsay is Team Barb After Peter Weber’s Wild 'Bachelor' Finale 

I wish more people in the world could disagree civilly like these two.

honestly, though peter comes off as a player, he doesn't know what he wants. no way he's ready for marriage he has a lot of growing up to do first.

I think Rachel raises a very valid, realistic point. I also questioned why Madison, a girl with such strong morals...decided to go on the Bachelor. Like girl. You know what you’re signing up for. So why did you do it? There has to be an ulterior motive buried in there somewhere. She’s sweet, and likable, and charming. But maybe we should be questioning Madi’s intentions a bit more.

Dont y'all remember maddie made her own fan account and commented about how genuine she was with her own profile. There is no way she plans on staying in that relationship. she came thinking that if she could last long enough than tell the lead that she is waiting she would be dumped and celebrated for her values and get a bunch of Christian Mingle sponsorships. Personally I share similar religious beliefs as maddie and because of that I would never go for a guy like Peter cause realistically it would not work out cause we'd be to different. She is far to calculated and I don't she ever planned on staying or even getting into a relationship with Peter.

I do 100% see Barbs point of view and she has every single right to have those doubts. But going after a 23 year old girl like that on national television was totally uncalled for. And throwing your own son under the bus like that too? What I don't understand about Barb is, you knew the outcome of that night. You knew he was no longer with hannah ann and that Madison was somehow involved with it, so if you wernt supportive of peters and madisons relationship, why did you even show up? Did you show up just so you could drag your son on national television like that? As far as I know, it isn't a requirement for the parents to be present and it probably would have done a lot less damage had she been there. She was not there to support peter, so why did she even come at all.

I’m a Latina and I agree parents in Latin America are different than in the U.S.. However, Barb’s comments were completely out of line, and only showed how controlling she is. Latino parents don’t “culturally” react that way at all, this was fully her personality. Also, what she said in Spanish was “But say something BAD too, help me”. She absolutely said the word “bad”.

I actually agree with Rachel's points, almost entirely.

It’s possible Peter knew from the jump that he was in it just for the “Bachelor” ride. Doesn’t seem to me he is anywhere near being ready to be in a committed relationship and acted so damn confused the whole time. Victoria F was the best match for him in my humble opinion...the chemistry between them was jumping off the TV screen but he chose Madison instead🤷🏽‍♀️

I literally don't understand why Rachel or anyone keeps saying people know what they sign up for when they come on the show in regards to the fantasy suites. As if only those who are fine with that portion of the show should apply? Those fantasy suite dates are NOT written in stone and people are entitled to navigate them how they see fit. It's very evident these are the "new" franchise cast members because there have been several examples in the past where the lead does not choose to sleep with multiple people. Emily Maynard chose not to have over night dates because she wanted to be a good role model for her child.... Sean Lowe was very open about his past and how he chose celibacy until marriage. Nick Vial has stated he was only intimate with Vanessa because he knew he was going to choose her. Colton didn't take anyone to the fantasy suites..the list goes on and on....People are entitled to remain true to themselves and let everything play out.. WITHOUT conforming to this normalcy of fantasy suites. ALSO they used to never really disclose what went on in those overnight dates and now every season its all about sex for the story line.. ugh I miss the way the show used to be. It used to be a lot more organic and felt more personal to the individuals and their personalities and lives playing out. Now everything is clearly maniuplated and produced more than it's ever been.

Rachel is wrong. Rewatch the episode. Madison told his Mother, on camera, that she loved Peter and she saw a future with him. Chris Harrison said that Madison was not totally responsible for the delay. Barb was grasping for straws when trying to come up with a reason to dislike Madison. Additionally, other celibate/virgin men have led this show. Colton? Sean? Rachel is just plain wrong.

I am with you Rachel. I think that Barb definitely let her emotions take over the situation and didn’t know how to express them and choose the incorrect place to do so but, I can see where she’s coming from. She’s scared of Peter changing who he is to fit into Madis world. The bottom line is Peter and Madi are two completely different people and as a mom the biggest concern is to protect who he is and the person she raised and that was triggered by Madison stubbornness. Madison didn’t look like she wanted to find common grounds with Peter. Being a strong minded woman is a beautiful thing but where do you draw the line between self betrayal and coping and acceptance? So I think she put her, Peter and his family in a one way route type situation and that’s what provoked Barbs behavior.

It's ironic that Rachel Lindsay is making money from this appearance, but simultaneously wants to shoot down Madison for getting an agent and possibly doing the same. I like Rachel, and I think she makes a lot of valid points here. But let's all be real, the possibility of making a living after being a contestant on the bachelor is a real thing.

I agree with Rachel 100%, Maddie went on the show to stay as long as she could. I do not think Maddie's intentions were as pure as she wants to portray. I think she did this for fame and fortune. I said this before the last two episodes and AFR.

Barbs points about how they are not compatible are valid, and it makes sense from what she saw of the two of them that she’d want Peter to pick Hannah Ann. But rolling your eyes and publicly bashing a 23 year old who did nothing wrong but stay true to who she is and what she believes is so inappropriate and rude. The compatibility issues between Madison and Peter come from BOTH ends, not just Madi. Neither of them are wrong, they are just different. Barbs arguments and opinions about whether they are a good match may have some truth, but there are MUCH better ways to express that, without attacking Madi in front of a live audience. Also, at some point she needs to let Peter follow his heart and figure it out for himself. He took the road she wanted and proposed to Hannah Ann and that clearly didn’t work out. It is absolutely disgusting the way Rachel has put Madison’s intentions on trial in every podcast, interview, etc. I haven’t seen her do that with anyone else. I can’t believe Rachael is standing up for Barb after just last week she was on the show talking about bullying of women on the show. Yet, Barb was definitely a bully to Madison. Her behavior was not acceptable...was abusive! I don’t think Madison was rude to Barb. I think she was classy and restrained from being rude.

Let's not forget, many have been confused about the final 2 ... Peter has even suffered an injury to his head; which didn't help in his thinking; he is confused, he pause before saying ""yeah" about his love for Madison ...His mother truly liked Hannah Ann, but is overbearing & tried to get him to chose the one that was charming & very easy. Men love the chase, Hannah was too willing & easy. Most contestants want to "win" the prize, regardless ... Madi is confused; she kept leaving & returning; didn't know if she loved him, did not want him to sleep with others; etc...Unfortunately, she is demanding & will probably have a difficult time being married to Peter. He comes from a family of pilots & will never be home enough for her... It's possible she left 2 days before the final rose, because she was hoping to be the next bachelorette... If they love each other; it can work. Peter will have to go through many changes for that to happen... If he stays with Madi, his mother will have to accept it....Why did Chris go to Auburn? Why didn't he let them get together on their own; if they wanted to?

It's crazy to me how everyone assumes what Madi's intentions were. What's your PROOF? Also, seems like people are basing their support for Barb on her WORDS. Sure her "concerns" seemed reasonable. But let's talk about her ACTIONS. I've dealt with people that exhibited similar patterns of behavior to Barb in both my professional and personal life. With that being said, after watching this season play out and post season, I have much more compassion for Peter. At the heart of him, I feel that he is a good person. My heart also goes out to the girls involved. For me, it was never about #teamMadi or #teamHannahAnn, though they are both beautiful and neat girls, it was about LOVE and who Peter could give his whole heart to. That's not something for Barb to decide, for Rachel Lindsay to decide, for Chris Harrison, or me or YOU, to decide! Speaking in GENERAL, whether or not it will work out, no one can say. (Case in point, my husband and I). When did any of you become GOD?! I disagree with Rachel's argument. First of all, if Peter and his parents (BARB) were on board from the get-go, knowing, as Barb later explained, that he was an indecisive, fickle, partier, still-living-at-home, boy - why did THEY come on the show?! WHY?! HYPOCRITES! Remember, actions speak louder than words! Secondly, what is wrong with a faithful virgin looking for love in this manner? There have been many previous cast members that had similarly high standards. Everybody's love story is unique. Love can be found anywhere, at any time! (Again, case in point, my husband and I). Thirdly, let's be "real" here about this "reality" tv show. If someone you were dating told you they loved you (like Peter did with Madi BEFORE any of the other girls, and BEFORE Fantasy Suites), and you voiced your expectations and feelings to them (even if awkwardly), then they DID the exact opposite, wouldn't you also feel betrayed and incredibly hurt?! Also, again in "real" life, if someone slept with two other people a week before potentially proposing to you, out of SELF-RESPECT, wouldn't you have a hard time with moving forward in the relationship with that person?! There is nothing wrong with self-respect or high standards. OR being REAL. I'm sure not everyone that has taken the opportunity to have that Fantasy-Suite time has slept together. Fourthly, let's talk about the girls meeting the family (BARB). We definitely got to see a lot more of BARB at the end of the season, right? Peter let his family know BEFORE they met either girl that his heart was with Madi. He also disclosed (bad move) some very private info about their relationships. When Hannah Ann met the family, she was immediately madly in love, emotional, mild mannered, and submissive. (To Peter) You can do whatever you want, whatever you need to do, you know? I will always be here. How would that translate to Peter's mom? Think about it. Then Madi comes into the picture (though we know she's been there once before). Madi was open about who she is, where she stands, etc. Very honest. Madi even said to Peter's dad that she "genuinely wants what's best for Peter". She didn't make it about her.... Barb hardly even gave Madi a chance. Seems like her mind was made up. Oh, the tears! Oh, the weeping! Did you notice Peter's response to his mother to "stop!", and his body language? (That was at his most attractive all season, in my opinion)! You'd think that a mother would have a problem with her son's love interest if she was a drug dealer, a compulsive liar, a gold digger, extremely promiscuous, etc. But she had a problem with a faithful virgin! Doesn't make sense! She said she doesn't want anyone to "change" him. Seems to me that she doesn't want him to "grow up". I've seen this in family dynamics before, with a narcissistic mother and her grown son. This was the beginning of the red flags for me. But hey, let's not jump to any conclusions, right? Now to the "After the Final Rose" episode... Hannah Ann showed a lot more strength (good for her)! Madi showed a lot of self-discipline and restraint. (Honestly, she handled herself with a lot of grace, kindness, and strength, considering...). But do I really need to get into the details of this? Simply put: It was the "Barb Show"! It was about HER wants, HER decisions, HER being right, HER need for control, and she was doing all she could to get what she wants! This is when it became apparent to me that it was never about either of the girls, it was about Barb and her need for control. The distinction between the behavior of the middle aged mother and the young love interest was incredibly apparent. One was very selfish and unkind, the other, classy and strong... Actions speak louder than words. At this point, why would ANYONE want to be involved with a mother like that?! She humiliated her son and showed the world on national tv that it was ALL ABOUT HER! Watching this really upset me! Her behavior was incredibly narcissistic. Then it made sense to me, Peter's indecisiveness, his confusion with "love", the fact that he still lives at home... I actually feel bad for Peter! Also, for Madi, for Hannah Ann, for all involved... And I've come to this conclusion: If Peter is ever going to be able to have a healthy, successful relationship, he, first of all, needs to move out. Then he needs to establish some serious boundaries and be consistent in maintaining those boundaries. He probably needs therapy too. Seems like his mother wants him to be Peter Pan forever. Just saying. I post this because I truly feel for him, for Madi, for Hannah Ann, for all involved. A very disappointing season of the Bachelor. I wish them all the best! And I truly, truly hope that Peter will move out!! Lol.

I just don’t like people trying to guess if people were there for the right reasons. I think it’s unfair because we can all speculate. I think though that Barb was absolutely shaming her. Hiring an agent isn’t wrong though. We can not fault people for using a platform they have created. They all will what’s wrong with her being smart and taking advantage of the situation? Also Barb went way too far. As a parent you have to allow your child to make their own choices and Barb in a strong sense took that away. I agree with her they won’t work out. However, that’s for them to figure out and not his mother to tell him to decide. It’s just my opinion and I’m probably the only one. Rachel, none of your points make sense. At 2:45 you say that no one comes on the show for the right reasons but what about you? That’s very telling. During Becca Tilly’s interview she says that production told her not to tell Chris Soules about her virginity until overnights so she sides with Madison and believes that this also happened to her the same way. Makes sense since they were looking for more drama thus the reason the women were in the same house at the time for overnights. Never done this way before. You say that Peter told you that Madison didn’t tell him about her virginity until after the overnights but let’s face it producers would tell her not to tell Peter for the drama and to get a reaction from him. Duh!!

Rachel and I agree. When you start having no respect for your elders , and the body language of Maddie says it all. Barb is dramatic and she goes too far , but this is her baby boy. No matter what everyone thinks , Peter is super young. 25? this isn’t his wife. He will not end up staying with this woman. They have way too Many differing values. Not to mention interests. It’s not going to last. He likes the chase. That’s why he liked Victoria F. Drama . Could see Peter was more into Maddie than she was into him. Peter wears his heart on his sleeves. The way that Maddie carried herself and was so smug , and cavalier. Not cool. I would hope her parents taught her to respect her elders more than that. Regardless of the fact that she has vitriolic, bitter feelings toward Maddie , it’s prudent to bite your tongue and apologize. Especially if you want something lasting. Clearly Barb is angry about more than just being stood up for 3 hours. We aren’t getting the whole story.

I’m a little confused that Rachel was shocked that Madison would take Peter back after he proposed to Hannah Ann. Like this has happened many times in bachelor history and it’s not unheard of so why are you confused? Maybe it’s because you have some sort of crunch on Madison? I love Madison and don’t get me wrong I don’t have anything against Barbara, but the way Barbara acted to Madison on my TV was just wrong.

I 100% disagree with Rachel. She is not a fan of Madison and does not consider anything from Madison's point of view. She does not know everything that was involved. Why did Madison come on the show? Because she was hoping to find a Sean or a Colton, which both had/have saved themselves for the holy union of marriage. Sean professed to a re-born virgin until he and Catherine said their marriage vows. Madison had spoken of her strong Christian faith from the very beginning. No one was willing to listen to her on the subject matter, especially Peter.

Everyone is forgetting Maddison and barb had meet before and everything was colors and roses. 3 hr wait and being rude supposedly from Maddison’s part. Does anyone recall the first date how she treated peters family??? Barb didn’t like Maddison, that’s it. She got it her way. Good for Maddison on moving on.

I agree with Rachel because what Madison was saying didn't make any sense. The whole purpose of going on the bachelor is to find love and she knew early on they weren't right for each other but she decides to stay and throughout the show she kept saying this is my journey too so it seems that she was hoping to be the bachelorette or gain fame.

Rachel is over here insinuating that Madison came on the show to be famous when she's on every talk show, every season giving her giving her opinions. We all know that Rachel is the one who's chasing fame. Since her season ended she's been popping up everywhere trying to stay In the the limelight. She LOVES it! Lol. Rachel girl you know you're addicted to the all the attention and the $$$. Don't sit there throwing stones at Madison when you know you have an agent too. Lol.
