@@HeYDeVuH it was sad for all of them really. Just experiments for Miranda’s virus that she saw all had unique powers of some sort which was really their only purpose for her
@@HeYDeVuH hey man can ya tell me the name of the theme playing whn u started to talk bout his biology? It's just so awesome bt can't figure out from which RE it came from 😅
Given Salvatore's childlike demeanor. It's theoretically possible that Mother Miranda infected him at a young age with the Megamycete & it arrested his mental development, so basically he'd be a Giant Mutated Manbaby.
But what about his tattoo? Typically children wouldn’t have them and I wouldn’t think he’d get a tattoo like that while he was a fish-man; plus his grown man’s watch (or bracelet on his arm) and pants that fit his (longer than childrens) legs?
Has anyone else noticed that Alcina is the only lord that was given an age and date of her mutation? we don't know how old everyone else is and how long they've been infected.
I felt bad for him for a moment until I found out about his lore where he would experiment on innocent people which often resulted in their deaths. From there, my pity for him quickly dissipated.
@@HeYDeVuH Yep. I was like, "Dang. This dude's life is pretty rough even though he looks pretty nasty." And then reading up his lore in-game, "...Actually you know what? I take back what I said. This guy's gotta go."
I do like Roanoke's theory that Moreau's family tried to save Eva back in the day, but because they failed Miranda had it out for them, so his cadou placement was done outta spite.
I don’t remember now but, is it hinted at some point how old is Moreau? I know Mother Miranda and Lady Dimitrescu are almost a century old, but I’m not sure if Moreau was around when Miranda lost her child.
I really did hate the lack of lore and character story for Moreau. He and Donna both just got such a short end of the stick compared to all the other characters.
@@HeYDeVuH I come from the future, the DLC was weird, unnecessary, and explained nothing. I'm really REALLY sure that they are preparing something big, the "car stopping on the middle of the road at the last cutscene" was not explained and was given even more attention.
I was under the impression that his obsession with Miranda was because she was the only person that was willing to talk to him. One thing I did really like is that in one of his notes he questioned what would happen after Miranda finally got her kid back and was afraid that she would abandon him. Similar to Alcina he wanted to be seen as special but was viewed as the lesser of the 4. Salvatore's personality, voice and his home having an old TV and a bowl of cheese makes me think he should be a Donkey Kong Country character. He's strangely the most light hearted of the villains despite the experiments and horrid design. I'm actually surprised that they didn't give much of Salvatore on purpose to show how little he meant in the story.
While I found Moreau...gross...I did feel a bit sorry for him. He clearly wasn't overly intelligent and the deformation brought upon him was horrible, but all he really wanted was acceptance. In truth I think that's what made it easy for people to sympathize with him if only a little. Yeah, he was a bad guy, but he didn't come off as overtly sinister. It was more that he was just following orders in an attempt to make his "mother" happy.
Very well said, he did have some factors that we can sympathize with him in a way but in the end he did everything he can to make Mother Miranda Acknowledge him
@@danmakes2497 yeah, the experiments and miseries he caused needed to be answered for but I think it’s the fact that he’s so childlike which makes me feel bad about ending him, but he did have to go
If she'd treated the lords better Miranda could have had a weird adopted family. But grief over Eva and the mould driving her crazy meant she wouldn't settle for less than her actual daughter back.
They weird thing is her baby was A BABY. Like Eva didn’t have much of a personality outside of “aaa a baby that’s mine” and she still cared more for that then the lords she raised for like 100 years
@@astolfofansunny4047 Evelyn had accelerated aging and the mold couldn't stop it. If it did and she wasn't a psycho maybe Miranda would accept her as a vessel for Eva
Imagine Miranda succedded with her plan. She send Eve, aka Rose, to school but a bully make fun of her everyday. Imagine the bully face when Eve come back with the 4 lords 💀
I found out that a jellyfish tattoo represents strength, and protecting one's family and friends. And the most stealthy and dangerous as well due to the tentacles of a jellyfish itself. Capcom knows what their doing with Moreau's character design
Another theory to think about with his "obsession". Mother Miranda says that the black mold holds memories of everyone it touches, this is why she believes she can even bring back her daughter by using the mold. If all lords were infected to see if they would be the perfect child , it's not far fetched to assume Eva's memories or whatever were in him causing the obsession with Miranda.... calling for mama. If you think about it the story goes that eva got the Spanish flu before death. His mutation and sickness could also be representing memories of Eva being sick and calling for mama before death.
Thats actually a pretty good theory i always felt bad for moreau he was probably the saddest lord in my opinion all he wanted was love and respect from his siblings and his mother Miranda. Even though he changed the villagers in to lycans he did it all because he wanted mother Miranda's love. And his hidden weapon the wolfsbane revolver saves us during the stronghold fight with urias so in a strange way moreau actually helps.
It's crazy, sad, and irony. Moreau came from a family of doctors. Moreau might have been like the black sheep (or black fish) of the family and became a fisherman instead. All Moreau wanted was love and he was willing to help Miranda kill innocent people. Miranda was just using him for her selfish reasons. If Miranda did show any love, she would have help him with his problems and his insecurities. She would have at least give him a better home to live in the Reservoir like Dimitrescu, Donna, and Heisenberg. Moreau was too simple-minded to see the red flags. He overused his transformation causing them to be unstable. He was unable to control it.
Alternatively he IS a doctor, the papers about him are about the after-effects of his transformation so he may have been the village doctor, and parasite gave him extreme brain-damage (he is, after all, the first successful 'child' of the group). This would be why Miranda is surprised by his decrease in intelligence (if she knew he was an idiot she would be expected much improvements) she picked him because he was smart, knowledgeable, medically trained individual...and she got a child-like idiot instead.
he really resembles Quasimodo from the hunchback of Notre Dame. both wanted love that they never get and people always view them as nothing but a monster. the only difference is that Quasimodo get a good ending while Moreau is uuh... at least Ethan can put him to rest, even though not in a good way.
I hate that Disney always has to have a happy ending, Quasimodo in the original book died a horrible death; he starved himself holding the corpse of esmeralda. In a twisted way, he had her at the end.
@@Majinhero how about a bittersweet ending where Quasimodo died happily at the end and Ismeralda accepts his death. And everyone realized that people with deformity such as Quasimodo is also human and that everyone has their own weaknesses and we should respect them and let them pursue their dreams? I guess that’ll be a good thing and teaches kids that people with deformity deserves a better life, and that not everyone can get a good story, but that doesn’t mean they don’t die as a Happy person.
He didn't have an Oedipus complex you and the content creator are really f****** gross. It seems you want to make it into that instead along with the content creator. and all I see from the perspective of somebody who has studied psychology is somebody who was horrifically abused and know that if they do not please their parent they will be abused more.
To be entirely fair, it’s not like Miranda actually cared about any of the lords in the first place. At best she saw them as tools worth preserving. And her “parenting” shows in all of them. Donna could not even speak to people with her doll and wanted to be viewed or valued by Miranda or just left alone. The second we escape the giant baby nightmare thing, her only strategy was hiding. Hence possibly why she’s barely relevant to the overall story. Heisenberg outright hated Miranda for what she did to him and presumably his family. Moreau is self explanatory. Dimitrescu was lead to believe that she was Gods gift to the world and all others mean nothing. Hence why everyone else, human or Lord, hated her. Probably why she had no biological offspring, nobody wanted to be anywhere near her because of how insufferable she is. Yet never realizing that when push comes to shove anyone and everyone will leave her behind, *especially* Miranda.
Despite the things he did, I honestly felt bad for Moreau. To me, it was like watching a child suffer endlessly. I’m glad Ethan put him out of his misery….
Donna was the only lord I genuinely felt sorry for as it seemed she was the only one not to enjoy killing as much as the others even morau seemed to enjoy experimenting on people with the cadou its even stated that donna is mentally ill so its more likely angie the doll was the one who killed anyone who entered the beneviento house it seemed in the game that donna had very little control over angie and the dolls were essentially their own beings now that could be completely wrong i don’t remember everything about the lore
@@Daddy-Saxon All she did is making people hallucinations just like what she did to Ethan in the game she seems Innocent but the side effects might be heart attack.
Donna showed a lot of signs of mental disability/illness, as stated by Miranda, and had a very childlike point of view, as well as taking in and responding to information similarly to that of a child. So yes, she had the thought process and mannerisms/behaviours of a child. It was also made clear, especially by the Benviento’s gardeners, that Donna was very shy and mainly only used her dolls to speak. Yes, the dolls are a part of her. You can see bits of the Cadou in Angie’s face (although that could have just been Donna since it really was her all along). Donna was not one for kills, and instead stayed in her house alone, making dolls and planting the yellow flowers. She even let the gardener see his deceased family, so Donna was actually fairly benevolent, until Ethan, and even then she never directly harmed him. I don’t think Donna ever really killed unless she felt severely threatened or felt like she had to (attempted to keep Ethan in the house, he tried to escape so she was forced to resort to plan B - violence).
@@mel.atonin I don't know about benevolent. You don't see any more excerpts from the gardner's notes after that. And likely, you would journal being able to see your dead family again. The entries end after he was invited to her house, which means he died there.
When I saw some youtubers i follow do a playthrough, I saw a drawing of Moreau inside Mother Miranda's lab (it's on one of the walls on the right side if I remember correctly) and it showed he had 3 Cadou inside him. One in his head, one in his chest and another in his back. When I first saw that I thought that Miranda thought he wasn't strong enough or one Cadou didn't do anything so she kept adding more and they disfigured him more and more. Also, I thought he was the doctor since his childlike demeanor talked about him needing more people to make lycons. This whole game and it's theories are so interesting and fun to learn.
From his speech and the way he writes, I believe Moreau was likely a very young child when Miranda got him in her clutches. He reminds me of Lisa Trevor and I wonder if he was intended by the creators to be some kind of nod to such a tragic and iconic enemy of the franchise. 🤔
i feel like it would've made a lot of sense due to how obssesive he can get with the people he loves (Miranda), but it also would've turned him into a more creepy, sinister lord like his "siblings". Kinda like the "she didn't want to accept my love, but now she'll be with me forever" trope or something like that sounds cool from a horror perspective, but i like more the pitiful moreau we got:]
@@PruBen66 Are you suggesting that a respectable doctor saw that he was losing his mind and humanity, went to confess his feeling while he felt he still had time, only to grab her in a panic, as the tried to flee in shock and revulsion, lettingj0 [EDIT (my phone fell)] a unpredictable and barely understood parasite to latch on to her?👾 That seems like something that would make for good drama, but is it plausible?
It’s sad to see him act the way he does. Just like you said, how the main lord make fun of him. The villagers are scared to look at him and talk to him. His only love is for his mother that made him that way. I’ve noticed that him and Lady D don’t say a word to each other. I’m guessing Lady D told him that if he gets near anywhere her and her daughter’s, she will SLASH HIM INTO SUSHI 🍣! That’s maybe why he don’t talk or get near Lady D.
I like that in his larger fishlike form, the human body is in his mouth where IT seems to be a parasite rather than the opposite. There are many aquatic parasites that live in the mouths of fish.
His acid attack was my first death. He felt so harmless till I drained the lake. Best strat for Ethan woulda been whipping out Leon's Infinite Harpoon and throwing them at'em while he was in the water.
Even though all of them were evil Donna and Moreau were sympathetic but Alcina and Karl weren't. Donna may have made people hallucinate their fears with her plant spores then killed them but being left alone after her parents died and Miranda taking advantage of that to manipulate and infect her is tragic as is nothing Moreau does being good enough for Miranda. None of it excuses them experimenting on and either turning people into Lycans, killing them or cutting up Rose.
Nah he was a unique villain and there wasn't much they could do with him. His interactions with Ethan were fun as well, reminds me of Ethan's dialogue with Jack. Overall he was executed perfectly
I think the design influence is more inspired by the Hunchback of Notre Dame. With the pitiful, sad vibes and insecurity, being looked down on, disrespected etc. Kappa, I don't really see it... sure, amphibian yes but... not turtle.
My former chemistry teacher is named Moreau. It's also the name of a friend of mine. Actually it's a very common name in France. Also, "eau" being French for "water", and "Mor" being pronounced like "Mort" (dead), Moreau's name sounds like "Dead Water".
Salvatore Moreau might have been the most disgusting and possibly one of the most evil people in this game but I have so much pity for him because everything he does is just a result of mother Miranda's trauma that she's caused basically Feel bad for the guy he deserves better to be honest
Moreau tried so hard to get Miranda approval and attention. Even the other lords don't acknowledged or have any respect for him. Each lord ( except Moreau ) see themselves at the top tier spot and the other beneath them.. especially Moreau. Atleast Dimitrescu and Heisenbreg acknowledged each other. Beneivento has her little companion Angie. While Moreau is the lonely outcast of the group.
I pretty much agree with everyone's comments, he really was a sad creature only wanting to be accepted by others, and he was at his happiest and quite passionate, trying to kill Mr winters but in the end none of them were good enough in mother Miranda's eyes, again Mr Hay Duvah you've made my day with your vid's, I'm quite the fan of your work, love the info you put together, until next time take care
I wouldn't be surprised if he was her first experimental vessel and she would use a 10 year old child, because her child died when she was 10. The way he speaks and how he is obsessed with miranda sounds like a child. Maybe she took him in when he was just a child living on the streets and used him for her experiments way back before the others were created. She was also a doctor I think, so there is also the connection to the book... Also he lives like a helpless child, sitting in his own junk, eating raw food he probably had stolen and staring into a broken TV.
I kinda feel bad for Moreau cause all he wanted was to be loved and accepted, and the fact they kept implanting the Megamyctye in his body despite the fact he wasn't showing any improvements and the mutation kept getting worser but he did do a lot a horrible f*ck sh*t so I can't feel to bad for him and it's intersting that he didn't exposed of or eaten the essence of rose. Alround a good villian, the design is badass and unique and the voice acting is spot on 💅🏾💅🏾💅🏾 and damn Ethan that hurt my feelings.
With Moreau, it was like they looked at all the cool mold-villains of village and then they were like "Welp, it's not resident evil if we don't have at LEAST one monster that makes you want to barf on site...." Like I have such a hard time watching gameplay of other resident evil games because everything is so nassssstty and fleshy and body horror-y, but with Village it was like "Wait....it's like regular monster movies until like...final forms, but even those didn't make me as uncomfortable as previous villains- closest is moreau though- he's soooooo nasty and full of fluids and pus and nastiness- even HE makes himself puke....but I thought his character was a bit charming- like he is nasty, but he doesn't seem like such an evil dude, he just wants some love...but then the growth on his back and the eyes all over his final form......barfffff CITY!!! Still, none of that holds a candle to mutant baby. mutant baby is the most terrifying and "worst" part of the game (like it wasn't bad in gameplay, but just a bad time...with baby...) ick.
One thing I've noticed through all of the Miranda "children" is that they really do have child like mentalities. Some more than others, they all were "adopted" within a deep time of need which in some ways i believed solidified their mental state as children and inferior to mother miranda. Even Alcina, who has daughters of her own, acts childishly by arguing with Heisenburg and we can see she becomes incredibly stressed at the idea of losing Ethan and disappointing Miranda during her phone call. I think it really just plays to the manipulation Miranda had. She wasn't just the most powerful, but she really infantalised her peers and "children" to the point where it feels like an actual family dynamic of adult and child. I think Beneviento and Muearo are the best examples of this because of their more obvious child like behaviour. Beneventos whole story is that she was a young anti social and anxious girl who basically became solidified in a case of her own mourning when her parents died that she still doesn't truly "speak" and only does so through Angie. She was so overjoyed to be "adopted" by Mother miranda as she desperately seeked a caretaker and I almost feel bad when you have to kill her in game because she does feel like a victim in some way. She is the most "innocent" out of the four, childishly seeking attention by being bold, rude and cheeky through Angie as a second persona. And we see that Moreau is the neglected child that constantly seeks the attention of Miranda despite being seen as the most "disappointing" of the four. Heisenberg, to me at least, genuinely seems like a rebellious teenager in the way that he acts. Even though he is considered the most resourceful and the "favourite" if you will, he still seeks to childishly rebel for his own selfish reasons. It really reads to me like a typical teenager that wants to desperately to be an adult. While I think Alcinas is much less obvious, there are still signs that she is subject to this childish mentality at the hands of her "mother". While she is incredibly powerful, domineering (quite literally), has children of her own and has an entire castle estate we still see her buckle under the stress of disappointing miranda. It really radiates eldest child vibes of even despite being an "adult" she is still scared of her elders or parents and their expectations beyond childhood. This is why I love the cast of this game so much and in particular the villains, because they aren't just a super league of baddies that want to get you for the sake of getting you but they're a strange "family" that all have intimate ties to one another while also suffering psychologically at the hands of Miranda. They are in a way, from a distant past, all victims themselves... as they were all guided in to her care as misguided test subjects who believed they were chosen and special by the all mighty mother miranda. While she pretends to value them like children, she really only cares about her one "true" daughter- of which if you read her notes you see how quickly she dismisses them as they aren't suited "vessels" for Eva. I love how they really brought how Mirandas motives in every aspect. It's not just how she wants to reincarnate her child, but how she has reached such points of power and its still not enough. She has tried to fill the void by "adopting" others and making them emotionally depend on her love, making the village see her as a holy being, an all present paternal source of love like a god, and makes the hugest hypocrite move and steals someone else's baby away to make herself happy despite knowing how much pain it brought her. Awesome game!!
Moreau is the best character imo, I met Maggie Robertson (Lady D) at a Comic-Con and I was saying it’s a shame there’s not more cosplay of him 😂 I wish the reservoir was done better tho
Moreau reminds me of Lisa Trevor from the RE:remake, and I think his character is rather nostalgic because of this. Lisa just wanted a mother, and so did Salvatore. Tragic how it ends for both of them but, I'm almost more satisfied that Moreau still got the spotlight he did as a character.
When Moreau first showed his disgusting face right into the camera, I physically recoiled on my seat. I knew about everything he's done to the villagers and that he was twisted from being raised in such a horrible environment. After he died, I couldn't get him out of my head and ever since he's been my favorite.
Man, what a great story that would have been. A person he was in love with transformed by the parasite into an abominable fish creature that slowly died while on land. In a weird and twisted act of love, Moreau carried them on his back to the water while they succumbed to the transformation of the parasite. When he got to the water, however, he would be unable to release them as the parasite itself had silently begun to fuse to his own back. Now tormented by the creature clinging to him, his body rejecting the advance of the parasite, he lives a painful and grotesque life while struggling to hold on to his humanity. Attempts are made to recapture the small pleasures of his old life, such as savouring his favourite cheese or wines. He struggles in vain to pursue some semblance of hope that his beloved can be transformed back to the way she was. Everyday he is drawn to the water, and the longer he resists its pull, the more sick and pain he feels. He endures this gut wrenching, vomit inducing nausea until he must satiate the needs of the creature on his back. Out of pain, he releases himself to the water, where the creature takes over and can flourish again and again. While the feeling of sickness fades, it is not long before it is replaced with the torment of water rushing into his still human lungs, unable to breathe, always drowning and yet... unable to die. His experiments on the villagers are an exercise in futility to learn how to reverse what has been done. As time goes on, parts of his mind are lost to the parasite. With failure, his defences falter and the parasite plunders his intelligence to the point where he has forgotten why he began the experiments in the first place. Miranda abuses this fact by brainwashing Moreu. She hijacks his unrequited feelings that still linger from what little part of himself remains. Now as he lives between two worlds of hell, either drowning in an endless sea of vomit or in the sullied waters of the dam, his only console is the love of Mother Miranda... whomst he will do anything for.
It's actually sad,the fish man's story. It actually put me in tears.Even though the guy was a big jerk in the game. It's sad that he was emotionally abused by the other lords and shunned by Mother whatsherface.(can't spell her name at the moment.)
She ruined all their lives, but Moreau was especially pitiable. He did a lot of messed up things trying desperately to gain her apparently non-existent approval, and it's kind of sad, like watching a little kid try "earning" the love of a distant, abusive parent. It doesn't excuse the horrific experiments, but it gives a reason as to why.
I can't help feeling bad for him, he was clearly suffering from his mutation, like it had clearly taken it's toll on him worse than any of the others, sad 😔
You know I realized that since the mold from RE7 originated from the Cadou in RE8, it’s entirely possible that one or more of the four lords are only evil due to the influence of the cadou, just like how the baker family (excluding Lucas) was only evil due to the influence of the mold
Btw anyone else notice the fact that a cart spawn from nowhere in the reservoir? You pass the tractor go up the stairs push a cart to the water, get down open the control panel full of bugs solve the puzzle push one cart to the water so you can go back to where the first cart was and there's another there. If you look around there's no that the new one could come from it just appear there?!?
When you activate the lever with the maggots on it,a platform rise up from the water thats where the second cart came from, its easy to miss since most people just continue straightforward without looking back
I love Moreau, easily my favorite out of the Four Lords. His design, voice and speech patterns, final transformation. Just the way the eyes on his back darted around like a real fish in his final form, absolute chef's kiss. He's one of the best designed biomutants in Resident Evil. This whole game and setting does, too, but Moreau really takes me back to RE4.
I wonder if the creature from the film 'The Host' had any influence with Moreau's design. they have the similar looking mutations and movements in my opinion.
I feel so so bad for him and Jessie nailed his voice 🙌👏 Moreau in fanarts and plushies/Capcom's mini puppet is just adorable as well lol his monster form is literally inspired from the 'The Host' korean film from 2006 and I love it. I fear dark, murky and deep waters so I have this massive dilemma when I was crossing and running during his part LMAO 💩🙃 I just wish we got more from his area and have ooze like monsters similar from REV1 💨 Once again, another superb video Dev 😃👊💯🐟
Moreau was definitely my favorite bossfight of all the lords besides Heisenberg, and I did feel genuinely bad for him. Yes it made me upset when I realize he was still performing experiments on innocent villagers and making the horrific monsters that Ethan had to fight up until that point; but to his credit they were badass as fuck monsters. It always made me kinda upset that Moreau didn’t get more attention from Miranda I because he was the one making all the monsters which helped keep intruders out of her village, and control the human population so they couldn’t rebel. Side theory of mine is that Moreau was in fact from the more merchant/trader class of society being a fisherman, and especially dealing with something gross and dirty like dead fish would make sense why they disliked him all the more. I saw another comment in here saying he reminds them of a twisted version of Quasimodo from Hunchback of Notredame and I agree with that. Even though his design was nasty, he was definitely my favorite monster-wise and boss area wise. I always love water levels in horror games because they’re so inherently terrifying when done right, and just knowing that Moreau was gonna be a big part of said water level made me like him more and look forward to his fight. His insignia being a mermaid as well also made me excited because I have a soft side for anything related to merfolk and old myths or folklore having to do with the sea.
I’ve seen headcanons that say heisenberg was taken as a child but just never had that child-like demeanour but it never occurred to me that salvatore could have gone through the same thing but never grew out of that child-like nature causing him to act kind of like a young child
He's as pitiful as he is disgusting. His longing to be accepted by his family is simpathetic, sure, but he's also the one responsible for countless lycans and the other monsters we encounter in the game. He robbed countless families of their future just so he could be accepted by a group of people virtually incappable of love. For that, he gets no mercy.
I tjink Mother Miranda's "Some of you were less persuasive than others" is directed to Heisenberg and his argument to leave Ethan in his responsibility
Also in the introduction sequence/ meeting Moreau was the only one without a seat. And by draining all of his water his status as a noble is even further put in question seeing as the resairvoire is the hairloom of his family wich gave them prominence and such a high status.
this four lords, Mother Miranda on top and Mold... make me thing of The four Emperors, The Gorosei Master Im-Sama as Miranda, The Mold and he fuse with her and the villiage land as Onigashima-version of the whole cacke island, and how big mom fuse herself with with him, make him "alive".
I saw him as a stinking beast, and I hated him more after reading the lore notes about him. His childish behavior was cringe, his crimes to please his mom was even worse, and his form was just yuck. Never felt sympathy for him at all. He can rot in hell.
I wish they did more marketing/showcasing of the other houses instead of focusing so much on Lady Dimitrescu. She's a fecking cool character, don't get me wrong, but her section seems so short compared to the others, and the others are so fucking cool too. Moreau especially because our of all of them, he's probably the weirdest but also probably the most unique
