love how all the euro countries are "fighting" shein with legislation, not because they genuinely want ultra fast fashion to stop, but because obviously the EU is america's assfly and they don't want a *chinese* company to be more efficient at... literally the same exact shit the others do just cheaper quality lmao.
when it comes to economy it's less xenophobic than other sectors I'd say. china is a major supplier in all kinds of fields, producing items of various range. the manufacturing power, market that's intended for international business relationships, and the cost of production (including manpower) are all what makes chinese suppliers so attractive to businesses. well, that's known. but the thing is, importanting stuff takes the share of market that could be taken by national businesses. instead, if there's oversaturation on the market, national businesses cannot enter, and the money end up flowing out of the country. also possible jobs aren't opening and other lost opportunities for economic development and also independence of the country. actually, that's why usa government procurement requires locally (=in the usa) produced goods as well as usa citizens as workers (as compared to off-shoring to countries that are cheaper in this regard)
