Ironically I wake up with pins and needles as well as neck pain when I sleep on my back. The front is the only way I can fall asleep. If it's "the wrong way" I don't want to do it the right way.
my neck does not look like that, for one.. that pillow is much too thick for a stomach sleeper (I use a feather pillow, always have), my body frame adds more support than yours for my spine, and my hips hurt way worse and I get way worse pins/needles in my arms/shoulders when sleeping on my sides. I am hypermobile and neurodivergent.. sure it may not be ideal for the spine, but arguing “this isn’t the only way you can fall asleep” or “this isn’t comfortable”? ..those are simply opinions my guy. With peace and love, just because it isn’t comfortable for you doesn’t mean everyone else’s experience is exactly like yours.
I slept this way until I was 30 because it was the ONLY way I could fall asleep, and I never had any issues with pain. Only when I hit 30 did it seem to start causing upper back and shoulder pain. By then, my body was having other issues, as well. It took me a very long time to learn to fall asleep on my side, and I still can’t fall asleep on my back unless I’m absolutely exhausted and couldn’t stay awake even sitting up…He seems to be able to sleep in any position he wants and doesn’t understand that some people can’t do that. It’s like people who have never experienced depression saying,”Snap out of it. Be more positive.” Totally unhelpful.
It’s all well and good advising people what not to do but why not then provide the solution? Show the most optimal positions for lying on your back/side sleeping.
This is the only way I can fall asleep. I don't sleep with a pillow under my head. I sleep with it under my chest/sternum. Not much to do about your head being to ome side but switch regularly. Arms go wherever comfortable.
I found myself on your page cos of the Pain ah feel at my mid hip whenever ah woke up in the morning... and now av learnt alot Thanks Man,...I appreciate Am Jacobs from Nigeria 🇳🇬 ✌️
I slept on my left side for years and now my left shoulder is lower than my right. Probably going to feel the effects in my thirties, so there's goes being a side sleeper.
You presume that someone sleeping that way might be using a huge or medium pillow. I, myself, sleep in this position (rarely). When I do use this style, I use a thin pillow for my head and also a thin pillow under my stomach.
My head isnt that high when I sleep on my front/side...is that not why it hurts? I dont get these pains. Sure I get pins and needles when I am t-rexing or my legs tucked in my legs but that seems an obvious and I didn't control it.
For acid reflux, try to sleep on your left side, as that way the neck/entrance to your stomach is upright and so the acid can't leak out as easily. If you lie on your right side, your stomach is tipped upside down and so the acid leaks out, causing reflux. It's been a game changer for me since learning this. Hope it helps you!
