As a 29 year old solo lawn care operator thats been doing this for 13 years , when i saw the title, i didnt think i was going to agree with what you were gonna say. But as it turns out, alot of what you said was spot on. You made alot of really good points that actually got me thinking. I still do like getting out there and working with my hands making sure my clients are happy. I have great days and i have terrible days. Ive also had good years and bad years. Last year was not a great year, but this year is working out pretty well. One thing ive also learned is in this field, you DONT want to do business with everyone because some clients just cant be pleased and some just wanna fight over prices. I do understand that one day, i may not be able to do everything i can do right now, but ima try to take care of myself as much as possible to make sure thats a long ways away before i start deteriorating lol

George knows you can see it in his eyes and emotions. Solo here and your 100% correct as usual. Going to be 65 end of this year and looking so forward to probably stopping yard stuff or just a handful. I have other avenues. The Body is shot and we all think about that dreaded C word everyday. Much respect.

Same was happening to me in Real estate i was #3 in western Australia for years but money is not worth the working 7 days a week, after my divorced i sold the company and moved to se asia, started a small business and employed the locals, far better now and i am behind the scenes..by the way love your direct style:)

agreed George, being solo creates a ceiling that can't be exceeded. Hard to take time off, too, as you say. There's more to life than work, so building a business that can be running while you are living life gives the real work/life balance that is necessary for long-term sustainment...great video Sensei. -Alan

I am in a small town and refuse to go into Charlotte or Gastonia because they are little Chicago. I scaled down the number of customers and do it less. I work only with my son it is his side hustle we can do all of the jobs before lunch. We are faster than 5 guys when they were doing it. I got rid of everyone because they not dependable. I had to sit in court two days with a employee that got back on meth. Nope done with people. I also pick up one extra lawn each year and usually drop one. I stopped doing lawns as a main income and started doing fiberglass repair also. If the lawns fall off I can keep doing pops old boats my other RU-vid. By the way I just ordered my second roll of timer line. I made over 80k off one roll if you break it down over 7 years. I drastically down sized. Went from 12 lawns a day 6 days a week to 15 customers. I actually keep more money each week now. Debt free of course.

Good for you brother but I'm telling you that there's an easier way to make money and that won't last forever my friend.

Listen, I would be happy to talk with you if you ever need a friend, just give me a call 715-350-1741 I would love to talk with you !
