There are so many talents to put in use around the world including in African countries, Russia, China and others. If only we could come together as humans, Mars exploration and beyond could be achieved easily and quick.

Real reasons, safety regulations. Even as a contractor, when you work with any US government agency only US citizens are allowed.

Yeah, the last thing the US wants is a "non-citizen" to return home with the knowledge to build rockets, knowledge that could be "weaponized".

Then Russia or other countries build their company, there are many people than spacex can hire.

It's a matter of trust and relationships, cultural and personal barriers. We can't accomplish anything if we don't have good relations first. Unless you're willing to take down your barriers, don't expect anyone to take you in or let you in. Prove you can be trusted. Talents are useful, but not enough.

ah, I've known i've wanted to work with something space related for a few years now and because i'm still young i know that i still have the time to study and get the best education i can but i also knew that living i the UK would be a problem as the bigger space programs are based in the US and other countries which kinda sucks because i also don't want to worry about flying over seas and leaving the UK :/

Please just understand that companies don't care about nations, they care about employees. If there were no nations every company would benefit - more candidates to choose from. Also don't think that there's oversaturation of workers in the USA. Only 4% of the people who can work are unemployed. Now add the fact that you need to find experienced engineers and scientists out of those 4% for which each of the employers are competing for. Thus it's no surprize that even spaceX has numerous job vacancies.

Let's be honest they just needed some Germans scientists at the beginning but now they can work on their own. Nothing better than a good german kick to set you straight.

I think the US policy is good which prevents spying or stealing of this advanced technology by some other countries, especially when SpaceX works with NASA...

He also had GOV. contracts. He only hired Americans in our community. He never hired Greeks. He was very proud to be an American Citizen CEO and this was a way to thank the USA to provide 300 all American employees jobs.

EVERY industrialized country has their own space program or supports some one else's . It's not like America is the only one. Work on your countries space industries or if the don't have one yet, start one.

This isn't news. The aerospace industry has always had this rule. I don't remember working with anyone that only had a green card on military contracts, but it is allowed (as far a ITAR is concerned). However, at the higher security levels, I don't remember ever working with someone who was a naturalized citizen (they were all US born). Getting top clearances is extremely difficult. ITAR is not classified material. It is simply export controlled. Boeing tried working with the Russians on the Sea Launch program and got severely burned with a host of penalties due to ITAR violations. (At that time, the ITAR rules were more vague than they are now.) That said, back in the 1960s, Boeing set up Boeing Scientific Research Laboratory (now defunct) just so that they could hire folks who were "un-clearable" (like university professors). Its campus was located "outside the fence" and the researchers there had no interaction with government programs. There is nothing prohibiting Elon from doing something like that. However, Boeing found it to be of little value (other than PR).

OK, I get the whole 'weapons' thing but shouldn't you just have to swear an oath or sign something. I'm British, I would LOVE to work at SpaceX and so would a lot of my friends, and a lot of people in other countries and surely, if you had the money which I'm sure SpaceX does, why don't you build sites in China, Russia, Britain, India etc. and then you won't have that hassle. Just saying.

There should be no expectation that foreigners work for a US company. Forget about top secret clearances There is simply no obligation to hire them. What do you think happens when an American wants to work for a foreign company in a foreign country? In many cases it's prohibited by law. If there was equality in this scenario I could see it, but there isn't. On the whole foreigners want to keep Americans out, but they want in. They need to stop their whining.
