The scene in the apartment when Peter’s spidey senses go off is one of the best in the MCU in my opinion. He knows that one of the villains is about to turn on him, but he doesn’t know who. He also knows May is in danger which sets him off. As soon as he realizes it’s Norman he immediately shoots webs at him. No hesitation, just trying to diffuse the threat. To top it off, it sets up the AMAZING fight between Peter and Norman.

The part where Andrew saves MJ is amazing. It’s a perfect Spider-Man moment because he didn’t think twice about trying to save MJ even though he had failed at saving Gwen. The worst thing he had ever experienced wasn’t enough to stop him from trying again. And he succeeded. It was my favorite part

It might just be me, particularly because I don't know the first two Spider-Man series as well anymore, but Sandman kind of confused me a bit. He was all good at first, helping, then he wanted to be cured to go back to his daughter, but then it feels like he kind of switched too easily without all that much convincing? And then there's The Lizard, which I know wasn't super fleshed out (also I hardly remember anything about him), but I ended up questioning a few things (again, mostly in a "evidently I'm forgetting something" kind of way). Why exactly was he left in the van? And I get he wasn't really up for being "cured" but I felt like there was just a tiny bit missing somewhere with him (aside from "he bad", but again that's probably mostly just on me). As for what the guys were saying about people who haven't seen the first two Spider-Man series, I think they'd be confused some, or just kind of have to take things as they come like "okay, that's how that is", not enough explanation for some things. Like, granted I can't remember them very well, but still I _have_ seen them yet I felt a bit left behind with what's going on with Green Goblin. I can more or less piece together what I "think" was his deal, but like the the switching, father-son stuff, dark side was like... information but not exactly explanation/understanding. So people without a clue just kind of have to take it at face value and not feel like they need a huge understanding because they know there are so many villains going on.

I really loved how the marketing of this movie was handled. The trailers showed off the villains from the other movies,, but not the other spidermans. The inclusion of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield was so heavily rumored and leaked beforehand and the inclusion of the other villains supported it so everyone was 98% sure that they were going to be in it, but it was never fully confirmed. So everyone still went to watch the movie to see the other spidermans, but had that very small doubt that they weren't going to be in it. Which made their entrance so much more exciting to see. In addition to that, that made my theater experience watching it the best experience I have ever had in a theater. @brittn2410
@brittn2410 2 года назад
Exactly. The reason I think they could fund tech cures is that most of the old spider-man villains are good people tech gone wrong stories. Tech from the other universes backfiring and creating monsters. Most aren’t villains because they want to be, their villains because freak accidents happened. Tom Peter realized that, and they even showed that they never were truly all bad in that they willingly went with Tom Peter after he showed that he was unwilling to send them back if that would kill them. They’re not villains like Mysterio who choose to be bad. It’s not far fetched to think that if a freak tech accident caused a problem that a freak tech miracle could solve it.

On top of that, both of them got their own forms of redemption in the form of Andrew saving MJ and Tobey stopping Tom from using the glider to kill Green Goblin. The movie does a great job of taking characters we know and love and building upon them even more. This was easily top 5 MCU movies, if not even top 3.

Also important to remember about the curing of the villains, Peter (holland) 1 had already used a lot of stark tech to analyze and prep for curing them and Peter 3 (Garfield) already had cured one of them and Peter 2 (McGuire) had plenty of time to reflect on how he would have cured three of them if he’d been given the time and opportunity to do so, the lab scene was mostly just them acknowledging that some assembly was required to make the cured work. Doc Ock simply needed a new chip to control the arms and they were 20 years ahead of Spiderman 2 and were in a universe with far superior tech (Stark tech). My justification for Strange's actions at the start of this movie are simple. One, he has post blip PTSD from what happened with everything and him basically making Tony a sacrificial lamb. And two, I feel like the movie really hints at the fact that Strange does this, because he cares about Peter. Which I think it's surprising because it's a new side of Strange, but I was really glad to see it.

Something that another reviewer brought up that I didn’t even notice until he said it is- this movie feels a lot more in line with the Raimi trilogy. It’s not as dark and gritty as the Amazing Duology, but it still treats itself seriously and has direct consequences for actions. And I think the big thing about that is the fact that this /is/ the MCU Pete’s origin story. That’s why the origin was skipped- every movie Peter was in was building up to his true and complete origin here. He truly became his own Spider-Man at the end.

The thing with DR. Strange saying we, after he cast the spell the first time Peter said he only changed it 5 times when strange said 6 times. Meaning he secretly tried to change it so he would also remember him
@mikeregester25

One thing I’m curious about is how messed up those other universes will be now that the Peters cured all those villains? What will have changed? For instance, in the Raimi universe Harry now has no reason for a vengeance plot against Spider-Man. No dead dad means a happy Harry. Now there’s no guarantee that Dr. Octopus would even end up existing without Harry taking control of the company. Could those situations have anything to do with the shattering of the multiverse?
@Elderberry4199
@Elderberry4199 2 года назад
I think Raimi's movies still happened (all Spiderman movies are now officially canon, lol), but this is now a splinter from that universe. There's now another splinter jutting off from Doc Oc being cured, and another one from Sandman being cured... So Tobey's Spiderman now exists in four distinct universes. Tobey's Spiderman will go back to the universe, though, that we're familiar with from the movies. That seems to be how time travel works in the MCU: Changes made only create new universes- they don't alter existing ones.
@mikeregester25
@mikeregester25 2 года назад
@@Elderberry4199, but it’s not just time travel, is it? This is from a whole other universe. Though I guess it’s possible that when the people got pulled out it was more like a copy, that the “original” continued the timeline. Then when the cured characters “returned” to their worlds, it really started another off-shoot of that universe. Hmm… feels like it needs a diagram… lol

44:33 GUYS! They have spent years if not decades regretting the deaths of these guys! It makes perfect sense that the two older Spider-men would have figured out the cure for their respective villains! I thought they said such a line or two when Peter (Holland) asked them to help him save those guys! I was something like "I have been wanting to do that for years"

I’ve heard a lot of theorizing that it’ll be Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man but really anything is still on the table for that universe. As long as they leave Tom Holland in the MCU I think that Sony can’t go wrong with their own Spider-verse.

I feel that this movie was a well thought out setup for if Sony and Disney DO have a falling out though. If there are no more Spiderman movies it'll be "ok" because no one in the MCU remembers him so he's just off doing his own thing. That being said, I will NOT BE OK if that ends up being the case!

This is EXACTLY how I feel. Especially with tom saying he’s ready to take a break, they have least technically bid themselves some time to literally forget spiderman. In defense of the lab scene, Andrew already cured the lizard, Norman funded doc oc so he likely had an understanding of the arms and how it was designed. The first way to cure Norman fails however once Toby who says they put a lot of thought to it over years tries he succeeds and Peter had help from Norman and doc oc to cure electro. The only one which was just Peter doing it fast was sand man.

Mild spoilers ahead: As someone who watched this without having seen any of the other spiderman movies and limited marvel movies (the 3 Tom Holland Spidermans, End Game, Infinity War, Black Widow, and WandaVision are the only things I've seen), I absolutely loved the movie. I think they set it up well where as long as you know that those are villains and spidermans from another universe, you're good. There might have been references I didn't get (like everyone freaking out about the lawyer, idk what that was loll), it was still a great experience and the best marvel movie I've seen.

If you haven't heard about Matt Murdock / Daredevil yet, I think you should watch the 2003 movie starring the saddest Batman, Ben Afflec. Don't get me wrong - it's not a great movie by a longshot, but, it's a pretty decent introduction to the character and who he is. AND, with a runtime of 1h43m, it's far less of a time investment than the 39 almost-an-hour-long episodes of the series. (Although, just to be perfectly clear, you really should watch the 2015-2018 Daredevil series. It's great.)

With regards to your observations regarding the Multiverse at the end: Westview plot takes place 6 weeks after Endgame, Spiderman about a year later, so they are not simultanious events. If you look on the Timeline order playlist on Disney Plus, Loki comes immediately after Endgame (since SM-FFH is on Netflix) then What If, then WandaVision. Loki (or more specificaly Sylvie) were was the one to enable Multiverse to exist in the way it will be used going forward. The single line of the Secred Timeline breaking off into millions of paths. Some say that was the moment Wanda heard her sons in the post credit scene but the creators denied syncing that on purpose, so... Then What If showed of what this new order meant for the MCU with its alternative character arcs. I think all the Covid delays did mess with their orginal intended order, but everything will slot into place again as we go along. But the reason other Peters and their Villans existed to cross over, is Loki and Sylvie. Timeline is a loop, so when it "exploded", alternative, fleshed out worlds were created from the begonning of time like they have always been there...

I went to see it with my dad, and the theater experience was really different then my previous marvel theater experiences. It was a lot of families in the theater, and I was sat near a lot of other teenagers. And honestly, us teens were really hyped for this, and were very vocal. But not in a bad way, we just had a lot of reactions. It was a lot of laughing, gasping, definitely some shouting after May, and the girl next to me starting crying. I did check to see if she was OK, and she said she was just caught off guard lol.

The theatre experience was amazing. There was three moments and the AG reveal easily got a bigger pop than Cap lifting Mjolnir in Endgame. I don’t think now way home and wandavision could happen at the same time because im pretty sure wandavision happens directly after endgame because going to find visions body is the first thing that wanda does after the events of endgame. In far from home, they mention that its been 8 months since tony died and no way home picks up right where far from home ends.

Going by a really well written article I wish I could find again so I could link it, the timeline post blip seems to be Late 2023: Wandavision (3/4 weeks after endgame, which takes place around October 2023) > 2024: Far From Home (Summer) > Eternals/No Way Home (September through November) > 2025:Hawkeye (Winter)(according to the director + set photos it set over the Christmas holiday season in 2025 which means wow that steve rogers play got a long runtime). so yeah, neither FFH or NWH could take place at the same time as wandavision, their over 6 months and almost a year afterwards canonically. Now... Where Dr. Strange and the multiverse of Madness fits in will be interesting, since that last little wandavision cabin scene was edited to seem like it might possibly be taking place right before that film begins).

@@darkflame9410 as far as the Hawkeye 2025 thing, I think they've come out since then and said it actually was originally 2025 but they decided later that it would make more sense and feel less like an outlier and everything if it was instead set in 2024, IIRC I think there's even a ticket for a party on Kate's corkboard that's dated for Christmas Eve 2024 that seems to be coming up (I think her mom mentions a Christmas Eve party or something) so it seems like NWH and Hawkeye are taking place around the same time (NWH might be a few days or so before Hawkeye (Christmas music in the mall, MJ needing to take down the Halloween decorations, Doctor Strange and Wong just "happening" to leave the door to Siberia open, etc.), but it's still about the same time).

I don't see anyone talking about how well Otto was handled in this movie. I was very concerned that they were going to undo the redemption Arc of Spiderman 2, but they brought Otto back onto the good side very early and even gave him a nice hero moment versus electro. I also like that they sidelined strange for the meat of this movie and also didn't introduce the elder Spiderman right away, giving us a chance to see Tom's Peter in a lead superhero decision making role and solve his own problems to a large extent, instead of having him defer to the older wiser heroes

I think Doctor Stranges miffed-ness and willingness to do the spell comes from the fact that hes not sorcerer supreme anymore. Imagine you get added to a sports team and are this really useful member only to get sidelined for a year and have that spot gone? You'd be willing to do most anything to shake things up a bit and it comes back to bite Strange in a really delicious way. I love this movie!
