Wasted potential seems to be the trend with Sonic games these days. From Forces to Team Sonic Racing and heck even Sonic Boom, all these games had something to offer. Perhaps it was a few bad decisions, maybe a lack of passion or understanding, or not enough budget...I couldn't really say. I appreciate the delays since they help avoid the worst case scenario, but there seems to be a deeply rooted issue that's keeping these games from being truly great. I just hope they can figure out what that is.

Knuckles' new voice and weird team ups outside of Team Sonic and Team Dark. Here's how to fix the other teams: •Amy, Cream & Cheese, and Sticks •Espio, Charmy, and Vector •Blaze, Marine, and Silver •Mighty, Ray, and... Honey? •Fang, Bean, and Bark •Metal Sonic, Tails Doll, and Metal Knuckles (This team would be a reference to Sonic R.) •The Deadly Six would appear in two teams, like in Sonic Lost World. •Jet, Wave, and Storm (This team would appear as DLC. Possibly in a bonus story after the main story.) I'd imagine that Infinite is still out of commission.

Content was clearly wasted of potential and it doesn't peak to the likes of Sonic Racing Transformed (haven't played the first All Stars Racing, so can't comment), but I still enjoyed Team Sonic Racing for what it was. The racing gameplay is still just as good and team mechanic is quite fresh for me despite being a little dicey here and there for me. Hopefully the next racing game is an "All Star" game and lets me play as other characters (i.e. Arle Nadja).

I know it seems far fetched, but hear me out: Team Sonic Racing Plus. An entire relaunch of the game with updated character roster, stage roster, animations, and an entirely new vehicle type to go along side the standard cars- the extreme gear. And to top it all off, they actually advertise more than the soundtrack for once and release it in 2020.

Mania Plus worked because it was a 15 buck game upgraded to 25 dollars, we've already paid for a 40 dollar game, we shouldn't have to buy it again

Too late, what is done is done. And I don't think 1 DLC will be able to fix this. We will just have to wait to 2021, or the Olympic games.

Like all other Companies SEGA just has a case of the big head. They pull and force their assists to make a gain instead of doing it the sensible way. Sure, they can do all the things mentioned in your video. However, due to the fame and popularity of the franchise, SEGA has become overly reliant on it to see sense.

It sucks for me, because I'm a huge Sonic nerd. Sonic is my favorite, and I do like this game! The music especially is a blast. But I have like double the time invested in Crash as I do TSR, and Crash is newer! Both games are even the same price of $40, but Crash feels like it has twice as much stuff, with more updates and DLC in the future. TSR doesn't even have plans for DLC, and it is a bummer, because I really want a reason to dive back in, but I probably won't, aside from racing just as an excuse to listen to the music. I'll spend all my time with the game that is going to give me free content updates, on top of already having a heap of stuff for just $40.

The next game really needs to be Riders or something. Something that easily stands apart from any racer. Then, roster gotta be bigger. Needs to have some way to increase replay value (like custom tracks. That's a reason why F-Zero games have way better potential than other anti grav racers). Could also be they also make sure that cosmetic stuff on cars, like paint and such, DON'T alter abilities, because that would encourage just choosing a style just for extra stats. Transformed had it right with the Mod system. Also needs to have seriously cleaned up online as well as constant activities like CTR did. Another thing would be to actually put animations in there. A character driven racer shouldn't have a sheer lack of animations at winner's circle celebrations, or after they place 1st, 2nd, or wherever in a race. Unless there's going to be a Team Sonic Racing Reloaded or something, it's better to focus efforts on another game (which again should be a new Riders game or something).

I love Team Sonic racing but I agree it needs more. after I beat Story mode there was nothing keeping me there. no Cream, no Chaotix. no real villain teams. the story was so bland, I mean they give us a new character that is pretty much god and all he wants is to race cars. the whole game is spent trying to figure out what his plans really are and he kept telling them the same thing over and over again. I'm glad we got Silver and Blaze but even they were wrong, they acted like they knew each other when that isn't possible due to Sonic 06's time erase. so really the game is fun but yes it is playing it FAR to safe. I would have liked to see Shade. Cream. Tikal. Chaos. Tails Doll, Nights. 15 is such a small number for a racing game about teams and yeah winning doesn't even feel like winning because all you get is a picture with a number next to it. Transformed felt like a real racing game, it felt like a complete one. this has so many problems that I want to tell Sega but they won't listen.

maaaan, I think a racing game would be the *perfect* place for fanfare, as CTR has shown us really works well in it's favor. Fans have been clamoring for more of several different characters from different continuities for YEARS, even. They've all been under utilized for so long, even the main stays of the franchise. Hell, locations have as well, and some people wonder why sonic isn't doing so good and hasn't for a very very long time.

You know what it lacks still doesn’t ruin the game at all. It’s still a really solid racing game. This might be the case like with Sonic Mania, after a year they announced DLC maybe their doing the same for this but then I’m pretty sure won’t be playing this. I think it should be handled in 3 packs, each pack has 3 characters (a team) a zone (3 stages) and obviously custom parts for their cars bring the total to 24 characters and 30 stages.

@@bluevelocity9166 i actually think mario karts items are more balanced. For some stupid reason, characters can only use persific wisps. Why? That never happened in riders or transformed. People genrally think that its impossible to dodge an item in mk but their are multiple ways. The only items that dont block atacks are the blue shell, lightning and boo. And even then the lightning and boo can just get rid of the opponents items. The double item box makes th game more skilled because you wont just constantly get coins. You can also use bits of the terrain to block shells. Thats why many players keep their tems like bananas and even coins. Its more about item usage and i dont think people get that. As for the team mechanic, i dont think it comes close 8s mechanics. It doesnt help that transofrmations are not in tsr but ill let it slide. Anti gravity adds more decision making and strategy You know whats sad? That i really like the character type mechanic. I know people joke about this being sonic heros 2 but if they expanded on that mechanic i would probably like this much more then transformed. The game has great ideas but they are brought down by multiple things. So i would still concider transformed and mk8dx tied fr best racing games. But thats just me personally

Akeem Taylor The specific items never bothered me that much cause I never found much use for them besides maybe the pink spikes. I really like transformed but I honestly feel like I would lose control of the boat and plane with the slightest turn, I really like the team mechanic for how they created different ways to help teammates instead of just passing items. Personally I don’t think the anti gravity adds that much more decision making considering natural instinct is gonna go for the boosters and other players. And about the character type as well that brings more of a strategy to the race track, some stages that don’t have any off road terrain aren’t much use technique types so much use a power type to plow through obstacles or if their is a lot of terrain use the technique types and their great for beginners. Look I’m not trying to force you to consider this as the greatest racing game of all time I’m just making some points for a game people have already forgot about.

You want more characters? OK: Team Sonic and Team Dark stay the same. In Team Rose, Cream and Vanilla replace Chao. Team Vector drops Vector, introduces Sticks to the main series (with her being Speed type, making Blaze Power type), or maybe uses Marine as Powee instead, and is renamed "Team Psycho". In Team Eggman, Orbot and Cubot replace Zavok (they are a Technique type which makes Eggman Power type like in the good dark age). New teams: Team Chaotix (G.U.N. Commander as Speed, Vector, Espio and Charmy as Power (there is even a fan-art of them in a bike), all four Chao as Technique), Team Babylon (Jet, Storm and Wave, with all of them having the same vehicle, just with a different color scheme each), and a team customizer in single-player. Also, there could be characters only playable in free-play mode: Eggman Nega, Infinite, Dodon Pa as a hidden feature (his car should look super cool), Tikal, Gemerl, Black Doom (I know he is dead, but it's outside story mode), can't think of any more though...

It's weird. Dissappointing. I mean, Transformed is arguably one of, if not THE best kart racer ever and the visible lack of budget is maddening. Not their fault, the game is fun, but you had a winning formula with Transformed. They run a monopoly as far as PC goes, it's either this or Transformed as Crash hasn't yet arrived on PC. SEGA can still make a revision of these concepts and come out on top, but I doubt that'll happen. As for now, I'll keep playing with the same people on Transformed.

I've had a lot of gripes with this game and I agree with everything in the video! The only other things not mentioned that I didn't particularly enjoy was the whole mod pods system, the story mode, and car customization. I HATE mod pods! I wish you were able to just purchase what you want like in Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing rather than having to pray to the RNG gambling gods! As for the story mode, the story really fell flat, like they didn't even try with it. When comparing it to the single player/story modes from the Riders series, I just felt like they could have done better with the story. The car customization as is is okay, but I wish you could do things like pick your own colors for vehicles instead of being forced to use a color palette, have different vehicles to choose from (like in the later Mario Kart games) instead of just switching out car parts, and be able to change things like the size or length of your car/car parts....or just be able to make a custom car entirely! That would be pretty neat!

Hmm. I really like Team Sonic Racing. I...actually see it as my ideal Sonic racer. The Riders games are a bit too complex for me whilst the previous All-Stars Racing series was more of a Sega IP crossover. This game focuses more on Sonic, my fourth favorite series after Mario, Kirby, and Pokemon. One thing I dig is the roster. Despite the odd pairing of Vector with Blaze and Silver, no Cream, Espio, or Charmy, I am not stomping mad about the ones that are in the game. This may be attributed to the fact that most of my 10 favorite Sonic characters are in, plus I like Zavok. I can agree on DLC racers though. I will admit that this game does feel low-budget. There aren't animated cutscenes in the story mode (though I like the characters speaking to each other), and the ending in particular is rather anticlimactic. I dunno; I think TSR is pretty good. It's no Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Crash Team Racing, but as a rather casual Sonic fan, I enjoy the game and what it offers.

2:43 Cream & Charmy to young to drive (Tails has at least piloted multiple planes) Espio is spying on Dodon Pa and gives the info to Vector and because has become a main villain character after lost world, seen he showed up in ALL the games after Lost World (and i like him)

Cream pilots the Tornado in Advance 3 if you pick her to be the partner character, has been in multiple Riders games (Extreme Gear sounds more dangerous than a teamwork car), and doesn't have a parent that would logically give a fuck. Zavok is nothing without leading something, but they lumped him in with Robotnik, thus making him filler. Besides, since when has age stopped racing spin-offs from including a character?

This video made me realize that this really does feel like it's the late 90's again. Then: Mario Kart 64 / Crash Team Racing / Sonic R Now: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe / Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled / Team Sonic Racing ...and just like in the 90's, it's the Sonic racing game that gets crushed by the competition the most.

Team Sonic Racing is garbage because the game does not show your online win and loss records. Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled is guilty of the same thing.

The writing, but that's been a problem since Colors (or Free Riders), and it's not that much of an issue here since this is a spinoff racing game nor is it as bad as some of the actual stories modern Sonic has put out since Colors.

Wow, this is one of the most lazy racing games ever (By Sonic Standards)! Considering that sonic is super cool, but doesn't get many good games! Sonic Mania Plus was good, but Sonic forces and Team Sonic racing was trash. Oh yeah, before this game came out, I always had a dream of a new Sonic Racing Game, but when I actually found one, I was so mad at the laziness. There should have been 30 characters, not 15! Although you could argue that they were crunched for time given this was supposed to come out on December 2018, they really weren't because it was delayed 5 extra months. So here's how I would make the roster: Team Sonic and Dark are the same Team Eggman Eggman Orbot and Cubot Metal Sonic Team Rose Amy Cream Big Team Chaotix Vector Charmy Espio Team Silver Silver Blaze Marine Babylong Rouges Jet Wave Storm Team Classic Sonic You know what it would be l= Team Zeti Zavok Zazz Zeena I've saved the best for last! Maybe the small roster must be from the whole team gimmick. I understand they were trying to stick out but... TEAMS? really? Maybe if it was something more personalized to each character, there would've been more space for potential.

When I got this game, on Switch, I had high hopes for it, considering I loved the First Allstars Racing, and Transformed was a HUGE improvement (And better if you were on PC.... which... I wasn't. I was on Wii U.) But as I played it, I started just playing it tll CTR came out... and when THAT game came out, I never went back to TSR sadly. I went back when I heard updates dropped but after the last update I just..... I *WANTED* this game to be a banger, I Really did.

As one of the few people to like Zavok as a character in the comments, what the fuck is the point of having Zavok in the game if he isn't with the Deadly Six? He's not Frank Sinatra; He needs his Rat Pack for his impact to actually matter. It was already awful he showed up solo in Forces for no reason. Even Mario & Sonic at the Olympics at least had him hang out with Zazz. Jesus Christ.

This game Ive played every stage the only things I like is the stages scenery and music! The race tracks seem so simplistic and little boring XD NOW , FOR BIG REASON I DONT PLAY ANYMORE: missing characters, WHY TEXT SPEECH DIALOUGES REALLY!!? SEGA! So Lazy, this isn't DS GAME MY GOD. Loved sonic back in days such as generation, black knight, sonic riders series or sonic unleashed were cgi was so iconic or animation of scenes on sonic adventure. And your right Wolfie no animations wat so ever at wining screen geez... even sonic and mario olympics has one its not hard Haha The ending BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!

I like the game, the gameplay is great and the graphics are gorgeous. There're less characters than Crash, but they are much more memorable, most of Crash Team Racing characters are generic and boring. But, Team Sonic Racing does lack content. The online mode is terrible, too

@@sonic_jukebox, sorry but the polar bear and the tiger from CTR are totally generic. At least 50% of CTR characters are generic and have poor character design. Team Sonic Racing should have as many characters as CTR, but quality is still more important than quantity. I prefer playing with Shadow, Blaze, Silver, etc than playing with that boring and generic polar bear from Crash Team Racing. Even Big the Cat has more charisma.

@@raphaelmartins6529 and alot of sonic characters are just copies. For example compare Sonic and Shadow, their design is really similar. Ctr has a lot of unique characters and most of them aren't generic. You will get the same response from someone else that knows Crash Bandicoot

I still love this game, and I think it's one of the better kart racing games in the decade. But I will say that it needs way more to make it better. Hope Sega doesn't give up on this game.

Yea.i was gonna buty this game untill i saw mario kart 8 deluxe. At first i wasnt interestedin mario kart but watching the first track, it was everything i wanted in a racing game. The music genrally made me tear up. So i think ill buy mario kart 8 dx instead

Team sonic racing could've had 7 teams. Sonic, tails and knuckles Amy, big and chao Vector, espio and charmy Blaze, silver and cream (idk who should be the force type tho) The babylon rogues ( future free dlc maybe) Orbot & cubot, red eggpawn and blue eggpawn Eggman, metal sonic and zavok

Coco Bandicoot has some great winning and losing animated.Even today on CTR, it is not hard to find a online match on CTR. Sonic could of done so much better.
