Texas A&M is continually hyped up to make a run at a title every year and despite a 100 million dollar coach and the best recruiting class of all time, the Aggies have not been able to get over the hump and 2022 was a disaster for them. Today, I want to talk about Aggie football, how they got to this point, last season and my thoughts for the future, enjoy!

we had a big lack of depth, serious injury issues and a first year DC with a completely different scheme and ideology than the prev. DC. Plus Durkin (the current DC) didn't have a full offseason to work with his guys. one of my buddies on the team told me the defense loves his energy and his passion for the game, but they've just need to get the scheme down fully. And on the other side of the ball, most ppl don't understand how serious it was that we lost ainias smith. He was the only major returning target that king had any experience throwing to, and without him the offense suffered greatly. Looking forward to the future tho, and i'm confident in the teams ability to improve in the upcoming seasons. Gig em!

Offensive line was probably the biggest issue. Freshmen starting and the upper class-men dealing with injuries. Losing Anais Smith early really hurt the offense. Fortunately Stewart and Moose were able to step up. Hard to say what the quarterbacks could have done with less pressure in the pocket. Hopefully Petrino can dial up an offense next year.

Offensive line was the issue the entire time he was at FSU. Even the 2013 team didnt have a dominant OL despite being loaded with NFL talent. Winston masked a lot of their issues.

This video criticizes A&M for losing to Bama, meanwhile Notre Dame lost in spectacular fashion by 24 points to Clemson and still got in the playoff the next day. They turn around and lost again to Bama by 17 just a few weeks later in the playoff. Meanwhile Ohio State lost by the same score that A&M did earlier in the year. Also A&M had a larger win streak than Ohio State had regular season games and since the only loss was in the second game that means that A&M finished the year on that 8 game win streak during a season where A&M played extra conference games against a tougher schedule than normal. A&M was left out for TV viewership reasons, ESPN wanted OSU and Notre Dame from the get go for what they hoped would be a wider national audience. Period.

As an FSU Die Hard fan this is the problem with Texas A&M. Jimbo Fisher. Period. Just like when he was the coach at Florida State, his teams look awesome on paper, on the field they do not live up to expectations. He won his National title at FSU because he had Jeremy Pruitt as his Defensive Coordinator. The following year when J.P. went to Georgia, FSU struggled all year on defense and got smashed by Oregon 59-20 in the playoffs. So His national title Win has an Asterix. The Problem for Texas A&M fans is your stuck with this hack of a coach till his contract expires because of his massive payout. I feel for you guys.

a&m returns 19/22 of the starters from the LSU win last season, with many of them being first or second year players. the simple fact is that with the amount of injuries and illnesses the team had throughout the season, many young players were forced to play when they weren't ready. originally the only freshman that was even slated to start was evan stewart, but by the end of the year half of the starting roster was freshman. I think we've got a bright future with so much returning production and stars like weigman and e stew, jimbo handing off playcalling duties and durkin getting a full offseason to coach his defense up.

@chillxxx241
@chillxxx241 Год назад
Jimbo had literally one of the best seasons in A&M history 2 years ago. He did everything he needed to do to get to the College Football Playoffs and if A&M would have been a "blue blood" they would have gone and competed for a National Championship. He also followed that with a #1 recruiting class. I think you will need one or 2 more bad seasons before "buyers remorse" sets into College Station.
@Elementalism
@Elementalism Год назад
@@chillxxx241 One year where they lost to Bama by 28 points. Then followed it up with 4 and 7 loss seasons. Outside of the weird 2020 season he has lost 4, 5, 4, and 7 times in each season. Paying a guy that kind of money with expectations of national championships but lose on avg 4 losses a year is not a good track record. Especially has his predecessor had a better record at the same point in their time in College Station.
@chillxxx241
@chillxxx241 Год назад
@@Elementalism they didn’t lose to Alabama by 28. I think they lost by three points. They went 5-7 with 40 something players injured and having to use 4 different QBs and 5 of the losses were by 1 TD or less. It was crazy bad luck. They weren’t getting blown out even though they were playing with freshman and back-ups for most of the year.
@Elementalism
@Elementalism Год назад
@@chillxxx241 They lost to Bama in 2020 by 28 points. It wasnt a game past the 1st qtr. They didnt have 40 players injured. Also they have been a top 5 recruiting team since Fisher has been there. They have depth and talent to match Bama and UGA. Yet lose 4 games a year. This is the same story and excuses we made at FSU when he brought in 5 straight top 5 classes and struggled with teams like Wake Forest and in 2017 claimed the reason why he went 5-6 was because of a QB getting hurt. Truth is he built a terrible culture of entitlement which lead to infighting and subpar play. He bolted in 2017 because the destructive culture he built was closing in on him. FSU was about to go probation because the academic performance crumbled so bad they were dead last in the P5. Which would had banned him and FSU from post season play if he stuck around. It is the same story he had at FSU. Poor OL play, QB recruiting flops, play good teams close, play poor teams close. It is amazing testament to the guys stubborn approach to life.

@@Elementalism 15 players who started in 2021 missed the equivalent of 103 games according to 247. This 15 didn’t include injuries to non-starters or the incoming class. I heard it was close to 40 players, but this could have also include the 5+ players who also missed game due to suspension.

@@ScottFisherCFB I think that was Connor Wegmans first start. He was recovering from the flu and Devon a chain was injured in a boot. Most of the team got sick. I believe Wegman won his other two starts. I believe Max Johnson also won both of his complete games against top 15 Arkansas and Miami. I think he injured his hand in the next game, which was a loss, and then we had to go back to King against Alabama. Pretty much every game kings king played we lost, and every games somebody else started we won.

Sounds like guys may have been going there for the wrong reasons or at least not football reasons. Also, Jimbo may be a bit stubborn in his offensive approach and may need to give up some control. Idk but if it goes south again in 2023 its going to go really, really, south. I feel for Aggie fans because they're some of the most dedicated fans and deserve a winner. This year is the crossroads year for Fisher. He needs to show progress which honestly it shouldn't be that hard.

Texas has done less with more to answer your first question
@markschneider3947
@markschneider3947 Год назад
For all his talk of accountability, and how important it is for players, Jimbo accepts none for himself. After every loss last year, he blames his players and their poor execution. Even this year prior to spring practice he insists scheme and playcalling are of no importance. Once again, he is distancing himself from any possible plane if the season does not go well. Great coaches do not force fit their players into their scheme. Rather, they adapt their scheme and their playcalling to fit the players they have available. Jimbo stumbled onto a winning formula in 2013 and he will carry it to his grave, and blame everybody but himself for all his failures between now and then. To this point he has been one of the most embarrassing coaching hires in the history of college football. I hold no hope that things will get better until we dump Jimbo. He is a great recruiter, and that’s all I can say good about him. Aside from that he is a has been getting worse!
@EliezerPerez5
@EliezerPerez5 Год назад
No he didn't, he blamed himself and the coaching staff when they lost to App state and a few other times. He does preach that his players need to execute but he never blamed them for their losses.
@markschneider3947
@markschneider3947 Год назад
Coaches do the planning and players are responsible for executing the plan. So when you say all the problems are with execution, and not with the planning, how is that not blaming the players? With perfect execution, any plan will work. Jimbo is right about that. But perfect execution is impossible. When none of the plays you call are working, the problem cannot all be with the execution.! How do you fix the problem? Its easy. Call plays your players are able to execute. You do not hopelessly cling to a plan and a system that worked a decade ago, but is no longer effective. Jimbo is an idiot! Unlike Nick Saban, he has been unable to change with the times, and the newer players.

Jimbo fisher’s awful offense finally was exposed with subpar QB and O line play. Also a young team did not help TAMU at all. The hope lies in that the team was competitive in a lot of the games that they lost like bama and they won the last game at LSU when the offense finally put up more than 21 points
