I didnt like Pattinson being cast -- but after seeing him in The Lighthouse and The King I have full faith in him. That dude can act. I have extremely high hopes for this movie, I love how super dark it seems to be. That's Batman to me.
This batman seems extremely menacing, like he's out for a vendetta. He won't kill but seems like he really really wants to hurt his enemies, that they wish they were dead. There's no peace in his eyes whatsoever.
Remember this is year 2 Batman, the character of Batman is still figuring things out for himself. The suit, the car everything hopefully this won’t be the only Matt Revees bat movie
Actually, the whole thing is on Patterson's shoulders. If he can pull a Michael Keaton/Heath Ledger and surprise everyone in the part, there could be more than one movie. There had better be improvement done to his gear. And personally, I would like to see the deeper characters from his Rouge's Gallery this time. Like Lincoln March, Clue Master, The Ventriloquist and others. We have only seen A tenth of his Rouge Gallery and the movie stick to the same characters. Why not go deeper and try to make better movies? I want to dare the Director of this to include the League of Owls in this Trilogy.
@@gustaf3811 yeah it’s like the “I’m out and about, so you probably shouldn’t be” light. One guy in the Nolan verse even refrains from buying shit from someone *the second* he noticed the bat signal.
I feel like this Batman would be more related to Daredevil, a madman who believes he is above the law. And the movie will question why a hero shouldn't kill, from the point of view of these vigilantes who don't kill you but do break all your bones.
Probably because they don't want to take the law into there own hands and go down that path into darkness, which goes against your idea of Batman being against the law. Is Batman not entirely sane yeah and that plays another part in his no kill rule as he perceives it if he was to cross that line and kill any of his rogues gallery he would be just like them, this is what makes his chemistry with the likes of the joker so great as one embraces their madness whilst the other fights it both internally and externally. Not trying to be rude or condensing just thought I would give my two cents.
@@ahopefor Don't worry, but I was linking Batman to Daredevil, I don't know if you saw the series, but the Batman trailer looks a lot like the series. Even if they are not the same character, they have that relationship of taking the law into their own hands. "I am not going to kill you but I am going to break your legs." It's this double standard of, I believe in the redemption of criminals, but I'm going to leave them half dead first
@@carlosduarte8429 Ah I see what you mean, yeah well I mean both characters are very heavily linked in general. Ben Affleck has played both characters and Frank Miller also wrote for both characters.
it tries to be dark, but hiring the Twilight Boy to ensure controversy is a Red Flag. Base on the Thumbnail this is going to an SNL special like Wonder Woman 2 was.
New for live action I guess, which is pretty depressing since we’ve gotten so many live action Batman movies but hey at least it’s being used for its full purpose now
yeah no ones going to look at the bat signal and be like ‘ha ha look batman is coming what a dumb ass to warn us.’ turns around and BAM! he’s standing right there.
As the director Matt Reeves said, This batman would be focusing on the detective skills of batman from comics. Also for the people thinking if Mr.Pattinson is skinny for the role batman, no. In some comics batman was really buff and big example Mr.Affleck And Mr.Pattinson fits for the role needed for this batman in the movie
@@StrygianArranges Being enormously muscular is not actually a good thing in a fight. Look at Bruce Lee, muscular without being bulky, he was built for strength and speed.
@@midnightmosesukYou expect a 50 year old Batman to have peak human flexibility. Batfleck is the story of an old Batman who manages to make up for his flexibility what his gadgets and monsterous strength. Sadly, no other live action Batman didn’t have fight scene as good as him so people think Batfleck is prime Batman. But, the comic readers and animation viewers know Batfleck is not the pinnacle of human flexibility and strength.
His armor is bulletproof and heavy because this is a year 1-2 Batman. When Batman first started he use to wear heavy armory till he got older and he noticed his movement speed was not good enough like in his golden age when he was younger so he decided to reduce resilience for speed making new suits that can advantage him in different situations.
@@ΠαοΤασοςΠαο Each director/writer/author makes their own adaptation of the character/figure. Every adaptation won’t be always the same buddy, they just use the character(Batman) to make their own (origin)story. Is like “Joker of 2019” which is not 100% adapted to the jokers from the comics, animations or other movies.
I think we'll get echoes of Michael Keaton's Batman/Wayne in Pattison's performance. Keaton played Bruce as someone who appeared eccentric and harmless on the surface, but was actually rather lonely/isolated and wanted some sort of vengeance for his parent's death. There seemed to be genuine physiological trauma, even madness there, in a way that wasn't in Bale's despite all the physical ordeals he went through. I dunno, just the way they've decided to do up Pattison as Bruce doesn't give me a 'playboy' vibe with his pale skin, his long and rather greasy looking hairstyle, his posture etc. but more like a character from a Tim Burton film.
Well that’s because Matt reeves and Robert Pattinson said Bruce Wayne doesn’t know how to separate Batman from Bruce Wayne they are completely identical even when he is not Batman he still is Batman but u will soon see him become the playboy but This Bruce Wayne prefers to be Batman at all times
@@Phantomiam That's cool. Again, not unlike Keaton's Batman in some ways, at least in the '89 film. I love the scene at the end of that film on the tower where Batman starts telling Joker how he killed his parents using his 'regular' voice, but slowly slips into his Batman one as the scene goes on. Little details I suppose.
The only thing missing with this Bruce Wayne is credibility as a man trying to hide his vigilantism. A foppish playboy who acts like an idiot savant to the public, but gets real when it's time to get down to business, makes Pattinsons Batman look like an all too obvious suspect. I mean, he's the only guy who can afford to build a Batmobile Hot Rod, but despite being in the one percent, he's no where close to being suspect? SMH . . .
@@herloss448 I don't read comics but I love films. I've enjoyed all the different incarnations of the character so far, even George Clooney's Bat credit card and Val Kilmer in his nipple suit. I liked Joel Schumacher's unintentional comedies. So I've seen enough Batman films to form an opinion of what a good live action Batman should be and I liked Ben Affleck. Everyone has a different take, that's just mine.
Ben Affleck didn't want another chance, he left the project But, yeah, he is a great actor and I'm sure if he had been given a better script he could've been a good Batmam, but we just got psychopath, gee thanks Zack!!!
@@Negative.headspace It's really Good. Pattinson is awesome btw. Really like him as an actor. I don't even remember those silly vampire twilight bands movies. I base my like off his recent stuff and choices. He's legit
Killing bad when Affleck. Killing good when Pattinson. The real reason they're defending it now is because Marvel movies suck now and NOW all of a sudden they want DC.
Everybody in here throwing shade at RP for being some "sparkling" Batman or whatever should go actually watch some things he's done. I watched the lighthouse a while back, and hoy shit dude has chops. He pulls off gritty and rough very well. Let go of the damn twilight movies.
A good amount of the people who are excited for this movie are not Batman fans who read the comics or watch cartoons. The others already noticed that a long time ago
I need some good action and entertainment next year so you comic incels can argue all day but people like me have a life and watch movies over the weekend and just enjoy what we get
@@Us3r739 your life must be quite miserable if you need some good action and entertainment. So how about you deadbeats go sleep on the couch so people like me that have a life can enjoy their life.
I think it starts with what we might expect an action thriller where we see batman is physically unstoppable then once riddler gets into the picture with his mind games batman just starts to get frustrated and starts developing detective instincts.
That thumbler was practical. It was also a prototype. Few people knew about it. Tracing the parts would have been hard because Nolan's Batman would have also been able to hide where the parts come from. To be honest, this kind of shows that you guys don't know something basic: if the vehicle is not in production, the company that did R&D on it has little to do with it. Basically Nolan's Batman looked like he hacked Wayne Enterprises' computers and had a prototype custom made. You need maintenance for a car like that and Wayne Enterprises isn't making any spare parts since it's a prototype that never went into production.
Dude, a lot of people knew about it. It was demoed for the army and they tested it with drivers to get it to jump over bridges. It would have had teams of engineers. It also wouldn't have been practical, prototype vehicles are not built to be easy to maintain and run flawlessly, in reality the damn thing should have broken down after a few weeks. He never would have been able to keep it running. Some guy even figured out Bruce was Batman by looking at the records. He wasn't an engineer, just and accounting guy. They handwaved that away as him being too scared to tell but that never would have stayed a secret.
@@TumblingPebble Dude, you're wrong. Few people knew about it. Yes, it was demonstrated to the army so that means a few commissioned officers and a few non-commissioned officers knew about it. Yes, they would have had a couple of test drivers and there would have been some engineers that worked on it (the team wouldn't have been too big and if the engineers were organised in multiple teams, they would have been small) but besides that, nobody knew. Yes not a lot of people knew about it, few did. It would have been practical. Prototypes ARE built to be easy to maintain and run well. Nothing is designed to run flawlessly. Do you know why? Because if the prototype gets approved, it enters production which means that all vehicles would be difficult to maintain and run badly if it were according to you. Basically, the contract would be lost very fast. The guy would order en mass spare parts so he could maintain the vehicle from another company. Yes, some guy figured out Bruce Wayne was Batman when he found the schematics for the vehicle. Yes, he would have been too scared to talk about it. In reality, that would have stayed a secret. You don't realise the context here. Batman was pretty much the only thing that kept Gotham safe and Gotham was a scary place to be.
I still don't see handles of a gun in that bat emblem. I own guns and I like guns enough to keep up with new releases and unless that is a super fancy, futuristic, comic gun then it just doesn't look like a gun.
The signal being a warning isn't a new thing. Jim Gordon in TDK puts that signal on to remind the criminals that he's (Batman) still out there. 'No man. I don't like it tonight' it's always been a signal for help as well as a warning!
I am really curious how Pattinson pulls this one off. He definitely has guts to take on such a role! About his acting, I've seen The King but that's basically Pattinson speaking with a French accent and having a ball since he's British. I haven't seen the Lighthouse yet so will watch that first.
The bat signal has always been used has a tool to inspire fear why don’t you think Batman just gives Gordon some untraceable number to call it so criminals will get scared that his coming this so not new to this Batman
Yes, that isn't nothing new, for example, in the beggining to "The dark Knight" one criminal see the bat signal and go far away for fear to Batsy, the same Gordon said that he puts it only for remember to the criminals that Batman is here
People are calling this Batman realistic but something you don’t realize is that you’d need 20 layers of armor to be like fully protected and bulletproof but how the hell would you move?
It’s annoying that he’s goth 😐. Batman has often been something gothic, but that’s more in tone and setting and not so much the personality of the character himself. Also, it’s annoying.
As per my experience watching all the animations and movies and reading comics i think the bat signal is not just for calling the batman. It is lit everynight to strike fear in all the bad guys; the fear that batman could b anywhere watching anyone so that they think multiple times before commiting a crime or even quit commiting crime at all. Its a reminder to every bad guy that batman is watching.
@@speedracer1945 I love that you brought that one up. That series was just fun. I don't take it as serious as the movies so I didn't mention it but if you ask me Adam West deserves a star on Hollywood Blvd.
There have been leaks from comments by early screeners of the movie that were shown in 3 different versions. Reportedly, comments ranged from saying the movie was dark and violent, that Pattison’s Batman was good, but his Bruce Wayne was really good. Some thought that the 3rd act “was a mess,” but it’s expected that the studio/director will work on issues that come up. Overall, the early screeners liked the movie. This is only what I’ve heard.
Great, an all new alternate take on how Batman became the Batman. Haven't had one of those in almost 5 minutes. Is it too much to ask we get a Batman movie that's like the Batman comic character? The animated Batman has managed to do that for literally decades. (Mask of the Phantasm is The best Batman movie: Dying on that hill!)
@@TumblingPebble - Talk about comprehension skills. Read what i wrote: About how Batman became the Batman; i didn't say "origin." This movie, as you say, is set in the early stages of his career, and tells the progression from the angry hellbent on revenge and punishment, and into the Dark Knight and defender of justice; ie: when he's *becoming* the Batman. I'm looking forward to the movie, and i think Paterson should make a good go of it (I'm, also looking forward to it, as I was an extra in one of the action sequences; shot it through in Glasgow back in early 2020). My gripe is why do we always get yet another reinterpretation of Batman, going for hyper-realism, and not a Batman movie that fully embraces and dives into the world of the comics? Why is WB so scared to make a Superhero-Thriller movie, and not just a crime thriller?
People have been complaining about the bulletproof suite...I think he does it to strike fear into the criminal world. Opposite of Christopher Nolans Batman, instead of Jokers immovable object he's now an unstoppable force.
@@milkiassamuel780 I don’t think he was expecting that reply 🤣 these casuals are wild. But also even if it was actually Edward Nygma it doesn’t really change shit about the character.
This is gonna be more dark and twisted than joker movie. Making the villains scary as he'll. Not like 90s cartoonish movies. I was thinking Batman meets jigsaw right before you said it. And batman definitely has a grudge. Not just out stopping crime. He's hunting someone.
Anyone else thinks he looks like Dwight Frye in a batsuit? Also, that car was Wesley Snipes first! I think he gave it to Vin Diesel later on after Blade 3... :)
Robert already looks like the best Batman ever. But I’m not totally sold on him as Bruce. Hopefully he’s not just always depressed and moody throughout the film. Despite his massive issues, Bruce in the comics could still be charming, outgoing, and a great conversationalist. Especially with Alfred.
The reason marvel is better than DC is because they keep building new versions of different characters and not focusing on advancing some sort of story. Like really how many different jokers and batman's do we have to have? It takes the story absolutely nowhere.
Where the hell did he get the idea of the retractable batarangs as gun handles plus there’s only one gun that killed his parents and two retractable batarangs on his chest
that, and high ground clearance means a higher center of gravity, exactly the opposite of what you need for good cornering, due to increased body roll, among other things.
It's exactly what I expect. A movie adaptation of the most internationally known comic book character and arguably the most favorite super hero character. Who is also over-saturated in movies right now, especially reboots. With production values that make it the equivalent of a straight-to-video production. For all you whippersnapper youngins', that means movies that skip theater runs. Pattinson hasn't even bothered to work out to look like Batman. My expectations aren't even low, they're kind of not there at all. And this is coming from a massive Batfan.
He was fighting the cops in the first trailer so it seems like Gordon is probably the only one on his side because the others most likely don’t know what to think of him yet
Bat signal was always that in the previous movies. Im pretty sure there are numerous lines saying so as well? Thats not a huge change tbh! Bat suit is though and its EPIC! Im so excited for this!
