At an old job there was this lady who had one back in 2010. She just drove her kids to work and then to work. She told me she was spending $100+ on gas per week. I told her that was insane and if she would switch to a vehicle that had better mileage she could save $. She never did that. People are insane
@@pqsk Allegedly the $20K+ price of the Tesla car batteries only last for 100.000 miles then need another $20K set of batteries for the next 100K miles. Is that cheaper? Chernobyl!
@@dub2536 thats what makes me nervous about electric cars the battery has the charging cycle drama. True ev will replace gas gas but its too early for that and right now its a rich mans toy.
I first drove a Hummer in 1986ish. It was obnoxiously badass compared to the Jeeps we were phasing out. It had certain GTFO of my way attittude. But I couldnt imagine wanting to own one in their original form. They were a PITA to park (people forget that they also had to be used on-road while convoying, etc.). There was no A/C. In full 'battle rattle' with the flak vest or Chem suit when it was over 100F, you couldnt drink water fast enough. Oh, and no cup holders either. The later civilian models were a bit more practical (if you could think of a Hummer being practical anyway). The gas mileage on the H2s seem no worse than the 2012 F-150 5.0 currently in my driveway. Its getting about 15mpg. But you cant really expect a vehicle weighing nearly 6K pounds to be economical. Thats why my daily gets 36mpg.
Gm was right it was a military vehice that was meant for open spaces and warzones. I admit the hummer is cool but i dont really feel bad for it dying out it just wasnt meant for civilian life people want easy to drive and park cars with good mph not a mini truck.
I know some of the bad stuff about the Hummer (though not the extent) but the videos you showed of the military hummer doing stuff that no car should be able to do were, no lie, extremely cool looking. No reason to buy one and no excuse to drive it around a city, but I now get the appeal.
I was issued a M998 Humvee when I was in the Army in the early 2000s. I just bought my first Hummer H3 June 2022. Then hurricane IDA floods put it under water lol. Got my 2nd hummer h3 in September. Love it. One day I'd love an H1
Can't watch. No captioning. Please consider adding captioning to the videos for the benefit of those of us in the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Thanks.
Why didn’t discuss the humvee c-series? They still make it today. They started of making the kits with no engine and tranny now they make full trucks only sold to china and maybe other countries.
Hummers were the favorite Car of the "Red Bourgeoisie" loyal to Chavez and the Socialist partyin Venezuela during the mid 2000's it became a meme, "how to spot the Chavizta, the one driving the Hummer, even Chavez had in his hour long broadcast got mad and repudiated at how many "Socialist party members" were driving Hummers "this a Revolution of Hummers or Of The People?"
The H1 is the only true Hummer, all the others are just gas guzzling posers. The new EV is certainly intriguing, although the 9,000 lb curb weight and $100,000 price tag are a bit off-putting.
İ would really like to get my hands on one of this "off-road wide car" Why? 1)our village is a barren rural area meaning no pathways needed to drive offroad 2) yhe main problem of this car is its poor fuel efficiency, so replacing the engine with something proper is a good idea 3) its wide chassis offers some easy upgrades/alterations and i can use that to turn this thing into a modular workhorse 4)big hood big and *efficient* engine
It never really made sense to me that people have to be understanding in peoples choice and who they love and how they identify and everything else but when it comes to what people choose to drive for themselves that you’re allowed to attack them over and literally destroy their property over it’s like some weird place we live in where they rules only apply to certain people for certain reasons the whole respecting peoples right to live their life I don’t know maybe I’m missing some thing but a lot of those people who destroyed those Hummers seem like hypocrites to me personally I don’t care for the hummer and I understand why people think it’s ridiculous which is why I would never buy one myself but I respect other peoples property enough to not destroy their hummer if they buy one like OK vote with your dollars we live in a capitalistic society destroying people shit is not how we should operate respect other people respect their property and this country would instantly become a better place overnight.
$75,000 in 2003 is definitely not “the same as todays money” What prices were 2 years ago are not even the same as todays money with the insane inflation the past couple years
Guys. I hate the narrative of your video titles. They always seem to be coming from a negative view point. Which is the main reason why I avoid clicking on them. I really love you guys and love what you stand for, but can you please be a little more positive in your titles.
