During the nintendo direct, capcom announced they will be relasing a marvel vs capcom collection, meaning #freemvc2 IS OVER. Today, I wanted to go over some topics regarding the potential for an MVC4, why the Darkstalkers revival is not a good indicator of a new game, X-Men and the MCU helping out odds for a RETURN TO MARVEL!!!!!!

@@Awesome-fw8mu Still possible, Smash ultimate achieved 89 fighters with the help of porting old assets over from Smash 4 101 isn't too far out of what is possible. Especially since we don't know what can lack in the RE engine.

For a hype standpoint I agree, but this was the best call to announce it here. Evo just caters to fighting game fans. This collections goes beyond that. The audience who played ANY of these are getting hit with a nostalgia aren't all hardcore fighting fans. It needed to hit the masses and Nintendo direct was perfect. This game needs to succeed (which it will) in order to get a new MVC title. SO HYPER !!!

Pretty much every Street Fighter character in this game is based off their Street Fighter Alpha series appearance (between SF1 and 2) so they all look a lot younger than their newer counterparts. I always thought it was funny that in MvC1 they tried to make Ryu look like his older self with red headband and different voice, but that CPS2 sprite can only be modded so much lol.

The only game in this collection I've played is Marvel Superheroes VS Street fighter. So needless to say I'm beyond hyped to get my hands on the others, especially that X-men VS Street fighter one. Best news of the year so far tbh.

I’ve got a very bold prediction, I think if this is the first and last time we get a collection like this of its kind, it’s going to likely be even more cost heavy in the future due to these being the definitive versions of the arcade classics, as well as Switch and PS4 consoles probably end up being very sought after for this one game. That’s my take on it anyways, I doubt we’ll ever see a collection like this again, not this generation anyways.

I bet this will do much better than the Capcom Fighting Collection because while that is a great collection, the audience for those games (besides me) are just playing them on Fightcade, so they probably got a PS4 or Switch physical just to have it, and then went back to Fightcade since those fans of games like Vsav and Cyberbots already have gone through the hassle to play them. The amount of casual fans for MvC is so much bigger and don't want to play via Fightcade is so much larger, and I bet it's going to be much more played than any other collection before it

If anything, this collection should help push the gauge of interest that people want more Marvel versus capcom! And hopefully not have Disney muddy their hands all over it like they did infinite! The game was solid but there were too many flaws that had too many cooks in the kitchen all over it! They should just sit in the corner while they let the pros work their magic and they still get a paycheck out of it!😊

2:44 I agree the collection actually sold badly, however, Darkstalkers was at fifth place in the recent Capcom Polls. Even beating VS series too. So it isn't that we don't really play the games or are a vocal minority, it's just that we are not gonna buy the same game we have been already playing got two decades. Other than that, great video, i am excited to play Omega Red and Venom again :)

@@nugieboy Hey, not problem mate. I saw you asking who you should main there in the pin, i super recommend Venom. He is super fun, has a projectile hit grab, very large hitboxes and a comboable grab that can easily lead to supers and high damage. I am not that good at MVC2 so i can't say which tier he is, but i know he is actually fun to use.

2:49 I kinda disagree with this bit cause the way most modern and newer fighting game players are especially the ones that migrate from larger genres like FPS or MOBA game will be down on this collection as soon as the steam chart drops below 1000 it's "dead" despite being a retro title. Also with the steam chart stuff we gotta remember these collections are in instant competition with Fightcade and emulation in general. Some people even buy the collection to support and still go back to Fightcade. Either way I'm geeked but we'll see...

Trust me the Capcom fighting collection is great. Pretty sure it’s got rollback, and the version of ssf2 is an actually non broken version of the game. Along with all darkstalker games of course, seriously it’s a great collection. Pretty sure you can find it cheap by now, could be wrong though.

2:27 Even if you're right, Morrigan on the cover of any game will sell that game. That enough should be why she, at minimum, should be cameo'd in multiple products. The darkstalkers fighting games were good games, but I think they were special more for the setting and character design than for the actual gameplay. Imagine a Darkstalkers where you can play as the original cast but it is an RPG or some kind. A JRPG or an Action RPG would work just fine. The universe it sits in is entirely ripe for harvest. It doesn't NEED to be a fighting game, but it just NEEDS to exist.

Might be time to read some comics... Marrow was pretty well known, blackheart is from Marvel as well. If you're hype for X-men '97 and MvC, read their material to support them. Game studios don't know where to pull material from anymore, so point them to the likes of Marrow and Blackheart.

It's not important only for fighting games or Capcom games. It's a huge deal for Marvel itself. It shows the direction that Marvel animated shows can go to. It also opens a variety for new shows that are more on Capcom side of the deal, and gives new possibilities of content for Disney+.

I want a Strider manga/anime. I would love to see a Captain Commando cartoon. I would really love an OVA trilogy telling Final Fight's story on that 3 SNES games span. I would kill and die to get a Street Fighter anime remake telling the events of Alpha, 3, 4, 5 and 6 games. Not to mention the comics, manga, cartoon, anime and TV show possibilities for Devil May Cry, Dino Crisis, Viewtiful Joe, OKAMI, Resident Evil, Breath of Fire, Ghosts and Goblins, MegaMan Imagine if Disney+ decides to air Capcom owned content, properly produced.

IMO this release is no more important than any of their other releases. Preservation, you say? There are censored backgrounds in this release (and censorship in other arcade rereleases they've done). So its technically not the original version. That's not "preservation". Also, this MvC collection will be delisted in the years to come for the exact same reason the PS3/360 versions of MvC stuff were delisted. That's not preservation, either. There's a physical release? OK, so you will have "preserved" a physical disc of censored games, stuck at unpatched v1.0. If this is preservation, then there's a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow.

I didn’t know that about the censored backgrounds, that’s pretty interesting. What about it is unpatched? Is it different balance? At the end of the day they’re a company and always gonna be caveats to rereleases like this but rollback for a steam release is pretty big deal for someone like me who isn’t that interested in fightcade just to boot up and play(not a part of that ecosystem so there’s more friction to play it, even if I have the know how to set it up etc)

@nugieboy Any depiction of the Rising Sun, such as in Honda's background in all versions of SF2, have been censored to either plain white, or some other art. It's a cultural symbol in Japan, but in other far-eastern countries such as China, Korea, it is a symbol of Japanese imperialism, as they committed various atrocities in these regions with that image on their military banners. It's obviously a nitpick from a preservation standpoint - but *real* preservation is like that. These games wouldn't be considered good enough for GoodROM, for example. They would be considered ROMhacks or bad dumps. As for patches, perhaps a salient point for this release of old games, but the point was that any day 1 patch or any patch thereafter is not present on the disc. Therefore in many cases - you're just preserving a buggy, unfinished game. I'm all for this collection, don't get me wrong. I just don't see it as anything more than what it is - a collection of slightly-censored old ROMs, with online play and some museum stuff.

@@n64fan60you make it sound like that’s a terrible thing. Capcom had 20 years to patch these games, it’s not gonna happen. Censoring the rising sun flag is understandable but any changes to gameplay or mechanics would essentially kill this game. Capcom made that mistake before, they aren’t stupid enough to do it again.

@TNTGamingonline A patch could come to add more content, change the way netplay works, all sorts. Indeed, I did say being limited at v1.00 is probably not a big deal for this. It is what it is. This MvC Collection is a bunch of altered ROMs, with rollback netplay, and museum mode. Nothing more, nothing less.

2:18 I disagree. Remember, everyone thought games made in Unreal Engine 3 looked like Gears of War until Guilty Gear Xrd came out. And guess what was also made in RE Engine: Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection. An engine is just a tool and will not make a specfici art style alone, the art director is responsible for this.

I just want to say I've had it explained to me several times but I can't really tell the difference. Like it's pixelated. When does it become a sprite? What's the distinguishing feature? How can the average person tell the difference?

These sprites are still pixel based. Just not made in retro 8 bit as it's using 16 bit sprites. The alternatives would be handrawn sprites or 3D models... Neither which are the case for any of the MvC collection games.

@Deadwolf27 pixel art are so low res you can't see their face, usually they're chibi art. Mvc1 art are so beautiful they reuse the sprites and just expand the roster for mvc2

You want me to be excited about Marvel and Capcom joining forces but then you give me characters like Karate Woman Black Widow aka Chun-Li but worse in everyway, soldier with a metal arm (Cable but worse in everyway) big Robot (sentinal but worse in everyway) like wheres my weirdos?!

You kinda laughed at The Punisher.. but if you know your history, you know its literally the reason this collection exists. That was the first Capcom Marvel game. Every Capcom Marvel game after owes its existance to the success of The Punisher, so show some respect.

Pretty much this. The success of the punisher arcade made it clear to the higher-ups at marvel that these capcom guys know what they're doing and it eventually led to the versus series.

Xbox players are not interested in anything that isn't on game pass and the first collection barley sold 1k units on the system so this time they just skipped it entirely

@@_sliver Gamepass actually sells backwards compatibility games so it makes since for them to import the 360 version which I cover on my channel

Totally agree! Though I personally find Morrigan overrated, and just want some new games where I can play as mah boiz Jedah, Dimitri, Jon Talbain, Pyron, and Lord Raptor. Also I like Winter Soldier (he needs more appearances where he looks like how he did in Captain America 2 though), but we can have him AND X-men characters!

Even though I will NEVER EVER be a part of the Fighting Game Community (FGC) because it’s now a toxic wasteland and I just want to play video games especially fighting games that I think I’m going to have FUN IMHO without other people ruining my fun because of their opinion, even if my hot takes and unpopular opinions on the video games that I like or love might set people off in a bad mood, I DON’T CARE AT ALL AT THE END OF THE DAY. Anyway, I’m really excited to check out Marvel Vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics on Nintendo Switch and Steam (via on my Steam Deck)! BTW, I’m looking forward to Mario & Luigi: Brothership, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Funko Fusion, Super Mario Party Jamboree, The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, Fairy Tales 2, Fantasian: Neo Dimension, Nintendo Switch Sports Basketball update, Mio: Memories in Orbit, Disney Illusion Island update, Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports, Luigi Mansion 2 HD, The New Denpa Men, Darkest Dungeon II, the new games coming to Nintendo Switch Online, Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, LEGO Horizon Adventures, Stray and Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven when I watched the June 2024 Nintendo Direct the other day.
