One thing to add, the movie just gloss over a critical plotline that set up this whole movie. That is - Carol being Annihilator. Which is absolutely mind boggling!! This movie would hv benefited alot if there was CM 2 with whole Annihilator plotline and Carols marriage with Prince Yan or Yon (forgot his name) and Dar Ben's tragedy then quest for revenge. The Marvels doesn't have that emotional impact despite so many things getting destroyed bcs background story never given time to flourish. When Thor in Infinity War says Thanos destroyed Xandar, audience understand the implication and Peter's shocked face bcs a whole movie took place there. The place we saw bustling with life is now destroyed!! That's freaking insane! But imagine if we never saw Xandar then audience won't care nor get how far Thanos is willing to go. That's what happened to this movie.
This is a great idea. I've been here since the modok and quantumania VFX videos. Nobody really wants to watch "break down" videos anymore, so experimenting with other videos ideas like this is a great step in the right direction. I support you bro. Keep going!!!
I'm currently getting bored of superheroes. I watched Don Townsend react to The Marvels and Iman Vellani/Kamala Kan was the most fun to watch. Ms.Marvel and Monica's suits looked good but Captain Marvel's suit was too dark. Also, Brie Larson doesn't know how to act sad. Some of the CGI looked wonky but the choreography and CGI during fight scenes were cool.
Huh, huh.. I agree with everything he said. And I hope marvel could learn something and fix their future films, but i won't say im not also excited to see more critics about how bad their next film is (if it's bad), it's like punishments for them and they totally deserve it
Fix what exactly. The Marvels for once wasn't virtue signaling. It has completely ORIGINAL characters, seems like the anti-woke podcasters convinced audiences of something that wasn't there. They just don't want minority lead character based movies. They do realize MCU's Spiderman is Woke as hell. No Way Home is not a great movie, you can see how late Toby McGuire entered his contract since he was not in shape for filming
@@suzygirl1843 @suzygirl1843 yes, people don't really care so much about small characters, that's where a good story should come into play, this movie, has no good story or execution. No Way Home doesn't have the most inspiring story, but when it comes to enjoyment, it doesn't have to. if you could somehow bring people excitement while watching it, that's enough to make them to love a movie
The writing is bad. Majority of the problem stems from how boring their villians are. This is why spider man was the last good film. They should have skipped Wanda in dr strange, and used Mordo. We deserved more screen time with him since he left us with a cliff hanger for the first Dr strange. Kang was great but they spent zero time building that character. Gorr was good but they should not have killed him and just used him in future movies.
@@y.reviews The Marvels for once wasn't virtue signaling, it was more consistent than No Way Home with completely ORIGINAL characters who aren't raceswapped or genderswapped. Seems like the anti-woke podcasters convinced audiences of something that wasn't there. They just don't want minority lead character based movies. They do realize MCU's Spiderman is Woke as hell. This movie doesn’t have to be as emotional as guardians 3 or the most emotional scene in no way home but they could’ve at least dealt with the film’s emotional weight when they were talking about the bad stuff carol did in the past
Nia DaCosta is pretty open that the movie is the studio's and not hers. The movie's "plot" is basically some gimmicky concepts strung up together. Think about it, it's an event of putting together one movie character with two (mediocre) TV show characters. People love the tentacle cat from the first movies, so now have its offsprings. Also, everything is undercooked likely because of or for reshoots. In case the execs change their minds on something.
What sucks the most about The Marvels is that even when the sequel to Captain Marvel was first announced, there were a majority of people who WANTED this movie to suck AND bomb at the box office because they already hate the character and/or the actress. And for stupid shit that wasn't even the actress's fault and shit she said that was taken out of context. Instead of hoping it at least improves on some of the things the first movie did like I do. Go watch the second part of CinemaWins' Captain Marvel video because I don't have the mental capacity to explain the context. Edit: I never got to see the movie because my aunt, who saw the first one with me, was having health problems. And normally I wait til to the weekend to watch movies, but I waited long enough and watched it last night. It's honestly not that bad. I loved the switch fight scenes, the bonding between the lead characters and after so little screentime from her last few appearances, we finally get to see Carol actually BEING a human. She's serious most of the time, but she's not this evil, heartless character that haters make her out to be. Sometimes, she makes jokes but she's not overly quippy like so many blockbuster characters are now. I love that she kept the Skrull tortue device. I've always been a sucker for superheroes taking a supervillain's weapon and using it for good like Shang Chi taking his dad's rings. I know that the Skrulls weren't bad guys the whole time but they didn't find out they were on the same side yet. I actually liked the parts where the Flerkins ate the entire SABER crew AND the Kree soldiers and Kamala copying Fury with the Avenger Inititiative because as a superhero diehard, she'd definitely do that! I can't wait to see whatever Young Avengers project we get, especially since they're not getting any younger. And I'm curious to see how the post credit scene fits into the Multiverse Saga, let alone Deadpool 3. I freaking love that there's a musical planet and Carol being the princess of that planet for legal purposes! Especially since Brie Larson WAS a pop star for a minute! And they kept the same sci fi buddy cop comedy vibe the first movie had! While also giving us a sample of what Carol's career as a cosmic hero was since the first movie. So yeah, I think the movie DOES improve some of the things the first movie did, just a little. But I am sad that they couldn't have gotten to be more. This is what Chapek does. He rushes creative people into releasing content ASAP instead of letting them do their job in their own pace. The animation studios, Marvel, Star Wars. Good effing riddance. This and Wish were the last movies that were the closest to completion during his tenure.
I was sick when the film hits cinemas and i miss it. I'll watch it for the first time on disney plus to judge myself. Yeah youtube and daniel rpk spoiled me the postcredits, i saw it on youtube and was amazing to oficially see the return of the fox xmen
I wanted to see it with my aunt because we saw the first one but her health problems were getting worse and she kept rain checking me every weekend since the premiere. I've been avoiding spoilers this whole time and I normally watch movies during the weekend. But I decided to just watch it tonight.
@@y.reviews okay i saw time for my review. First of all as i said daniel rpk spoiled me the postcredits, i saw it on youtube and i didn't understand how monica ended up on the fox xmen universe. So i watched the entire film it's a let down from part 1 (i consider captain marvel 1 being overrated is a nice film), first of all the switching of place dynamic didn't helped at all, the concept made the majority of the action scenes chaotic and hard to follow, next issue a ton of bad and stupid ideas that doens't fit well with the plot like the musical planet or the flerken eating the sword crew, also the film does a poor job to explained in deep how carol felt after finally reuniting with monica (i read reports of how brie and teyonah didn't get along on set and fought a lot, i know some people tired to debuked the report but i feel it's true you can see the lack of chemistry between them). And nick fury acted like a complete different character. The only good thing kamalah was better portrayed here than on her tv show
The Marvels is like a really nice looking cupcake, with colourful sprinkles and sweet sugary frosting, then you take a bite into the middle and it’s filled with cream cheese
Used to take people out to see the newest marvel movie, but now even they are like "yeah wtf happened these used to be at least funny?" Highlighting the overuse of the virtual sets is extremely important. The scale of the franchise is weighing too heavily on the production. Artists have to rush to complete the next project before one is fully cohesive. As an advent, these movies all feel the same, as they were produced under the same circumstances as the last # movies Working on churned out products like these has got to be creatively stifling, it's a massive shame
Unrealted to the movie, i struggle a lot with overthinking, but when you said "sometimes you just gotta shut up and do it," it is genuinely the most inspirational quote that changed my life. so thank you.
No Thor Love and Thunder is still arguably worse (I would say they’re both equally bad) . Gorr was the only good thing, but the rest of the movie is so bad it puts it right next to The Marvels. Just cuz another bad movie came out doesn’t mean another bad movie gets better. It still deserves to be treated just as harsh 😂 In my opinion at least
This movie is as bad as people claimed the first Captain Marvel was. The first one at least had some good aspects to it. Even just the fact it took place in the 90s made it interesting...and it gave us more Coulson. This movie couldn't even get Fury right.
I agree with everything you said except the space bit. The mcu earth has had all kinds of heroes roaming the earth all kinds of aliens from outer space all kind of Gods from outer space half the population wiped alien invasions and more so going to space would be the least to mean something because all out answers about alien life, safe space travel, how to travel to space and moe would have been discovered so by the time Ms.marvels family roamed space they’d feel 20x more safe than we’d imagine especially being transported with a human who’s been on space himself (Nick fury), also the flerkin is a different alien than Ebony moss, Ebony moss is a different alien than the accusers, different dna different body functions different outcomes when traveling space. And have you watched movies from the 90’s and before they look like bad technology without green screens cgi or that new technology so whether you use practical or not the only thing that matters is a good story not the props or any of that just wrote good stories with some emotion and connection with the audience then spending the money or not wouldn’t be a issue
That's a very good point you bring up about the space travel. I guess in Endgame it felt more cinematic to me which I liked. And yeah maybe the human looking henchmen were some kind of alien race but it starts to look a little silly that they're just so exposed on an alien planet. But then again, all the human heroes were exposed on Titan too so I have no idea what consistency Marvel is going for.
@@y.reviews I’ll agree the consistency in the mcu is very off which is why we have no definitive way of knowing what aliens or parts of space are habitable without a helmet
yea.. but they also contributed to making marvel great. before disney they had only made iron man and the hulk, so i think it’s fair to say that the mcu wouldn’t be on the same massive scale without disney.
I'm convinced that this failed internationally because everybody doesn't speak english and even if they did, Marvel as a word isn't much used in the basic vocabulary. It's like calling the movie DC's the DCs. There's too much Marvel in the title.
Yeah. It’s like “The Bollywoods” (it’s a genre but still). While I thought this movie was actually pretty good, it’s hard to even talk about since it’s four letters off from being Marvel: Marvel
@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdombc some ppl didn’t wanna see the movie out of preconceived notions of what it would be, plus the strike was happening and the actors couldn’t promote it before it released
