Is Chill still on this “Luka has to do too much” thing again? Kyrie has been carrying the mavs along with Luka lately…Luka cooks for the first half and then Kyrie cooks for the second half. It’s working. They’re winning games even without Luka going as crazy as he was previously, Luka only attempted 14 shots last game and only made 6 of them, yet they still won.

I swear to god none of these commenters have watched the mavs. We have not been super Luka reliant to win games. We have two elite lob threats in Gafford and lively, pj Washington, while inconsistent, is a major contributor and a great defender. In the win against the kings Luka only shot the ball 14 times! He’s very willing to defer if that means winning. He just didn’t do it before the trade deadline and last season because outside of Kyrie, there was no one who could reliably be an effective option. Luka can take over games or defer and play traditional point guard. And there are plenty of moments and games where he lets Kyrie cook! This team is good as hell and can beat anyone in the playoffs

I disagree I don’t think kyrie would be inconsistent. I think hardaway was the inconsistent one so now he doesn’t have to be relied upon as much with kyrie there so they should be fine.
Luka doesnt have to do too much, he just DOES TOO MUCH lmao the mavs system minimizes their 2nd and 3rd best players to maximize their 1st best players, kyrie and THJ are much better without luka, not just by the numbers they are much more efficient and play more games. The Mavs are not BETTER without Luka because Luka is a positive and not a negative, but they can be better if kyrie and hardaway benefit from the system as well
