Joker doesnt promote violence, it tells us why violence happens.

Watching Joker caused me to be a kinder and more friendly person in general public. You never know what small kindness will mean to someone.

The joker being hated by media and groups but being loved by the ordinary people just shows why it works

The part where Arthur is talking to his therapist and says "you just don't listen do you?" is the most relatable part of this movie for me

Arthur by any definition is an outcast. When you're an outcast, No one wants to help you or be your friend. They only want you to disappear.

In a way, the reaction to Joker proved Joker's point.

10:40 the coworker had no intention of helping Arthur. He gave him the gun precisely for him to lose his job. He and the other workers use to make fun of Arthur and the short guy. That's why Arthur kills him brutally and let's the short guy go.

and now, Joker is the highest grossing R-rated film of all time. *In your face, media.*

Of course, the corporate media doesn't like Joker. It held a mirror up to their faces and they saw Murray.

First movie I felt actually treated mental illness with some respect. Rather than making it a cute little quirk or novelty. Rather than making it seem like something to be afraid of and cull. The fact that this movie exists makes me feel better about having one. Finally, somebody in popular media gets it. Phoenix did a wonderful job with the tiny details of his character. The subtle shaking and shortness of breath. That kinda stuff made me tear up. It absolutely did not make me want to murder anybody. It's art. I appreciated it like art. If anything, I felt it made people empathize instead of treating those kinds of ailments like a monkey you can make dance. You see so many people online gloat about their self-diagnosed Tourette's and DID and DPD or whatever the hell they can find on WebMD. Nobody wants anybody to know that they're sick. Displaying it like a ribbon on social media is a big red flag. Those who do have it and make it the central point of their personality just end up hurting everybody in the long run, especially themselves. It's so weird seing a channel or video be popular just because of someone else's pain. I dont think anybody watching those cares about the person as much as they want to clap when the showperson gets triggered.

It was so satisfieing to see mainstream media fail instead of the Joker.

And this is why I trust the audience more than the Media or the “Movie critics”

When The Dark Knight released, nobody panics. Because it was all a part of the plan. But when Joker becomes a box-office success, EVERYONE LOSES THEIR MIND!!

I hate when people say it’s “too dark” it’s a movie about a man descending into insanity and becoming a homicidal maniac crime lord what the fuck were expecting, just because it’s dc doesn’t mean it’s a super hero movie. The movie was a goddamn masterpiece and I will always stand by it

The movie is full of times you can have empathy without giving acceptance, which is something we know the media hates (among all the other reasons big media is generally bs)

Damn Jimmy fallon was that offended by this film portraying him so well thst he hired alot of media website mods to diss this film.

If anything, Joker shows us the true value of kindness and empathy.

I think what really shines a light personally for this movie for me was just the fact how relatable it was. I don't mean it like 'that's so me' but all of us. This was just a good man trying to do something to make the world a better place & all it takes is a few awful moments at the wrong place & the wrong time to completely turn someone into something else. Many people think they would never be capable of such horrendous crimes but they are far from wrong. We are all evil, the only difference is the fact we were just lucky in terms of the circumstances that were played out, others? Not so much.

Tl;dr: Bad people know they are bad people, but don't want to deal with the consequences of being show what their behaviour does to other people.

Murray was the mirror to them and that's what they really focused on was that one moment that one scene specifically where joker felt betrayed by the man he looked up to because of his comedy genius to then showing his true colors

The fact that the media wants Joker to fail makes me want to watch it more.

I believe that this movie portrays what violence and bulling does to people , especially people with mental conditions which are often targets of the aforementioned practices, and has a very positive meaning. It shows us what luck of respect for each other can do to society. It is a masterpiece of a movie!

The Media response to this film is the most terrifying aspect of the film.

Buddy of mine summarized the movie like this. The Killing Joke: All it takes to make a monster is one bad day. This movie: this is a man who NEVER had one *GOOD* day.

The reason the media wanted this film to fail was to justify their shameless persecution and disregard for the mentally ill. Ironically proving this film right

You finally have a movie that speaks to the daily struggle that most of us face every day. So, of course it's instantly relatable to the majority of us. And of course it will make a billion dollars. We are being beaten, humiliated, harassed, and tortured at various turns and repeated times in life. Privilege and inherited wealth does not autonomously entitle anyone to a moral high ground.

Murray was a metaphor for the very same media that hates the Joker.

I'm writing this in July 2020, when the same Media paints a false narrative about the omnipresence of police violence & white supremacy, then excuses actual destructive rioting in the streets. But a movie like "Joker" is the real problem.

This film made me feel sorry for a person with mental illness and how society is kicking him down constantly while he’s trying to do his best to keep his life together and not go into madness. It made me understand that I really don’t care or even understand people with mental illness and how difficult their life must be. It’s given me a new perspective on life. The film is disturbing and sad, the violence was the last thing on my mind and it’s not gonna make anyone want to go out and cause mayhem. That’s just stupid. Like you said the media just wants to control everything and this film is showing how society is fucked and unfair and it’s letting people down every day that need help to survive.

The people who said The Joker sucks/is problematic are also the people praising Cuties right now

i like that media claim that Joker has a toxic fanbase, yet ignores Harley Quinn's fanbase that idolize an abusive relationship.

The film shows that even the toughest fabric can tear with the tiniest cut. I’ve been picked almost my whole life and feared that people are staring at me and judging my every move, so this movie hit close to home for me.

The childish thought that there are just: victims or villains. This is something I used to think most of us grew out of. To become an adult and not know that all villains are victims is deeply worrying. But that is how the world is, so childish. Reality is being outright denied by so many, and it's so weird to see this serious topic attached to something made for entertainment. That is Joker's crime though, that it's acknowledging reality. The people against the film are painting a big sign on their foreheads, that they are the problem. The ones who are telling you that you aren't a victim anymore if you're mean. The ones who will say your suffering is invalid now, because it makes it easier for them to hate you. Those are the problem people.

I worked at a movie theater when Joker released. The bag policy felt more like a talking point and making people not bring in food. We literally had to measure bags and only let in bags under 10x10in. We later changed to 12x12 then 24x24 and kept that until I left. Movie theaters have been going under for years now. The 2 places I worked at fired their professional projectionists they had for about 10-20 years.

Movies like these are necessary. It shows us how to be better or nicer people. Thinking about others and what invisible challenges they may be going through. And it also shows how certain actions give birth to things, thoughts, and actions in people.

That was a great nuanced movie, appreciated by those that are so tired of the two dimensional evil villain tropes.

Because it's an accurate depiction of a violent and depraved American society ran by the greed of an elite capitalist class that has destroyed humanity and the planet. Joker was a work of art. First movie I have actually bought in a decade.

The media hate the Joker movie for 2 reasons. 1. It humanizes people who they have worked for years to thoroughly dehumanize 2. It draws attention to the very issues they deliberately try to sweep under the rug and dismiss.
