Reminds me of the bodyguards in the vanilla game I was just scouting the outskirt of my base when I find an advancing party... and they get immediately fired upon by my bodyguards who are in the middle of my base. Distance is illusion, if they see it, they can shoot it.

@@Contevent yep the elite firewarrior bodyguards have much larger base range, but I think still benefit from range research, making them into rapid fire sniper squads.

In black crusade the Tau technically had infinite range with their weapons. Cuz of 1 ability they had and a trait their weapon had. Most ranged weapons with the Tau had Gyroscopic traits for their weapon, extreme range is considered long range in terms of combat. Then they had marksmen which made everything out of range considered extreme range. Thus fucking infinite range.

Its....actually not. Only the ethereals have access to pyschic powers. It's (from what I gather) how they keep the other castes in line, and how they were able to create the Tau Empire essentially.

Play Dragon Age to get better idea WHY with their Mage Circles. Short answer is that since Tau general public is really dimmed in their warp "trail", any psyker near them would be "lighting up" several times stronger in comparison. You're basically a big ass target on you. Well, psykers always have it, but now it's with GPS tracker and glows in the dark.

It's also one of the most OP units in the game, and has a bug that allows it to instantly regenerate it's entire void shields at the click of a button, without any cooldown or expense. (And I did mean "and has a bug" there, not "due to having a bug". It's pretty damn OP even without it.)

I'm not even sure orks count as "evil," or at least it's very subjective. In some ways they're less malicious than humans can be, it's just that their nature is entirely focused on combat. An ork won't fight you because he hates you, but rather because it's fun, and he doesn't understand why you don't find it fun as well. Orks won't lie and manipulate you, and if you don't put up a fight they might enslave you or keep you around because they find you amusing _or_ krump you because it's funny but it's never about causing deliberate suffering. Everything they do is what other orks consider "good."

Really late here but in the case of the Imperium eldar and tau I wouldn't call them evil but more so along the lines just doing what is necessary for survival, which one would think that in a more sane setting that the three would have put their differences aside and ally with one another but everyone in 40k is an arrogant prick.

Having your entire existence dedicated to mass genocide isn't exactly what I would term good regardless of whether or not you're "evil" in your head. Also Orks straight up eat people all the time, and being enslaved by them isn't exactly a walk in the park.

Alan Lin Well aliens from X-Com have conquered other worlds before, have gateways and have elders with Psyker- level powers. And Warhammer universe spans thousands of worlds. Both arent mutually exclusive. X-Com ending further more just falls in line with Tau lore of having advanced tech, but low numbers.

I heard something about Tau getting their greedy hands on working warp drive and planning to do test run with it while broadcasting it to all their citizens. I think Tau will get more psychic powers then they ever wanted and all that just for the bargain price of your soul and everything else.

I am pretty sure there ARE Tau psykers, but they are so incredibly rare that having them as an actual military position, even a specialized one is very ineffective and unreliable, especially since time teaching them how to not summon daemons accidentally could be spent teaching them to pilot a titan or be a better rifleman.

They did Fire Warrior, although it wasn't very noteworthy. But yeah, the T'au are the perfect race to inteoduce someone to the 40k Universe since they are the New ones of the setting

First time I played dawn of war, it was with tau only yah I was impresses by them specially their commander tau. Ya there are some units in tau that aren’t very satisfactory.

@@jagsingh279 Don't mind zoomer, 40k has notorious flame wars about the factions, and while some have some merit, the ones concerning the T'au are generally more butthurt than most. The main complaints about the T'au are that: 1-They are too bright and positive for Warhammer 40k. To that I answer that there plenty of Darkness and hopelessness within the T'au, first being their collectivist mentality associated with a cast system, and imperialism inspired by the UK, and the general lack of personal freedom compared to us Real life, or the Imperium at its prime. The fact that they are also miniscule make them extremely vulnerable to everyone else, the sole reason they have not been overrun is that nobody has noticed them enough to commit full strength against them. They are, in fact, on the brink of annihilation. -They are actually minuscule and inconsequential, therefore they don't deserve that much attention. I think people are just not used to have aliens instead of humans filling the part of the New underdog with a bright future and an advanced, complex society. Other factions in 40k barely have any fluff except for their fighting prowess, the only other exception being the Imperium. The T'au have a civilian society, a culture, a rich History, and even a coherent language, far more than the Eldar for example, that have been there far longer. The only rival is the Imperium, but even it inspires itself from real life, while the T'au society has no similarities with any current eal life societies. We've seen theocracies, we've seen fascism, but we have never seen a working, collectivist society. Both of these.complaints are actually what makes the T'au fascinating to me. They offer a different answer to the Grim Dark, and one arguably better than the Imperium's. But that's arguable, as the T'au do not have the same amount of problem, nor the vastness of the Imperium and therefore the difficulty running it. On the other hand, despite the nigh dictatorial attitude they are very welcoming of other species and actually believe in cooperation beyond the blood, something the Imperium never managed to accomplish, the Emperor being a human supremacist that excluded xenos from the Imperium. Finally, the T'au faces challenges that are unknown to the Imperium, such as how to maintain a hopeful philosophy in a grimdark Universe. Recently they have been facing fear, mistrust, betrayal, and death on large scale for them. Some of their elements have denied the rule of the Etherials, other have started discriminating between the species. Their society is bending, but will it break? Perhaps not, because from Farsight to the Etherials, everyone truly believes in the Greater Good, they are not sure how to achieve it, but they are united in purpose and actually apply their philosophy without hypocrisy. The suspense is killing me and I'm rooting for them all the way.
