I’m no animal expert but I feel like the zoo enclosures on the amusement park side might need some more trees or something to block the light and noise from the animals. Just seems like it would be stressful for the animals. Could even help to give it a more wildlife feel.

1) the taxi should not be centered to the entrance, it should be off to the side. The excitement of walking up to the entrance from the parking lot is more valuable than the view being blocked by a taxi stand 2) you should add a small toll to enter the parking and make the exit a one way.. like Disney or other parks where you have to pay for parking

The reason why the zoo is so much more popular than the amusement park is because of the entrances. Because you can go to the carnival from the zoo and the zoo entrance is right next to the bus depot most people are going to the zoo first and thus never actually counting as going through the park. You need to add an entrance in between the 2 parks.

Yeah, and I really want to see that giant parking lot fill up at the main entrance!! Which would also free up some tiny real estate for a harbor.... just a thought! :D

I'm coming from VB, and loving this series! Very freeing and so much fun. A couple ideas: - I love the mid century homes, but the pools are driving me nuts. Its the great lakes! people dont have backyard pools! - Dont be afraid to use the flags more often outside schools, harbors, ferry docks, and police/fire stations - I think its a missed opportunity not putting the sea life enclosure in that little inlet. Its kind of weird having the dolphins just loose in the lake. You could even close off the inlet a bit using big rocks or something? It'd also be cool to leave the 'floor' of the giraffe, lion, and elephant enclosures sand, more like a desert vibe. I definitely think you can fit every animal in if you're creative and efficient with your land usage! - Whenever you find those wildlife spawn points, you should move them to Mackinac Island! I hate seeing the poor wolves wandering around downtown, and it would be so nice to see them enjoying the nature reserve instead. - dont forget to put fire watch towers all over Mackinac!

I get you took out the palm trees and stuff for aesthetics, but different enclosures will have different trees to fit the animal that is inside. Something to consider. Also, as someone else pointed out, the attractions might be very stressful for the animals, if you're going for realism. Also, also I think a reason one of the parks was getting a much bigger amount of visitors is because when they enter the zoo gate they can just walk into the amusement park without paying an amusement park ticket, I don't know if that's how they measure that, though

@CityPlannerPlays Great idea with connecting zoo and amusement park! But I have concerns about noise and lights from the park next to enclosures. Perhaps little separation would be great for animals health and behavior. Enclosures next to town, highway and park with fireworks may stress animals a lot. Also zoos can be smelly, which is another point to add some separation between park and town. Another idea to place Sealife Enclosure in the little bay, where water is much calmer and safer. As a bonus more visitors can watch animals and fish from key walls surrounding the little bay. P. S. Very sorry for my bad English. English is not my first language

I think it would improve the integrated feel of the zoo side if you add more of the circus tile surfacing around here and there. The Ferris wheel looks very out of place because it's the only section with the tiled surfacing. Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever done a zoo, and only one amusement park (at the end of a tram line, old school style), but the ability to turn an oddly shaped bit of land into a park is super useful-why do all parks have to be square, after all. Also, I like turning the areas around map assets like lighthouses, castle ruins, artillery bunkers, etc. into parks, and putting info centers near those features to act as museums, viewing platforms looking over the features, etc. Feels a lot more organic than just “plop a square of parkland.”
@simongeard4824
@simongeard4824 Год назад
@@JohannHitz It's also a perfect example of how to do DLC well, so I suspect it will be back in that form in CS2. By which I mean that it adds something new to the base game, it's not something that's must-have functionality in the base game, and it does it without conflicting with the simpler park functionality in the base game. Contrast with Industries, which is one of the best DLCs in terms of what it adds - but in doing so, it renders the entire base-game industrial component largely irrelevant, and because it's not base, other DLCs (like Sunset Harbour fishing industry) couldn't build on it.

I recently discovered that the small parking lots (like the CPP one you made) are classified as type "Park". The result is that the park maintenance vehicles were occupied travelling to them instead of my "real" parks and therefore I wouldn't get consistent boosting. To deal with this I created a parking lot as a "commercial building" asset instead and in turn my real parks started getting boosted as one would normally expect.

I think it looks great! Yeah it's fine to leave stuff out. However, I do think there's enough space to fit the rhino enclosure in by the top of the bay where the ship currently is. I think if you moved the swinging ship a little out of the way, and properly fenced and landscaped the road out of sight, you could put the rhinos in there. Also, maybe a contradictory point, I think some of your enclosures might need some form of sound/light dampening to make them less stressful for the animals.

I dont' think it's my place to make any critique when you've done such an amazing job! (but I'm going to lol) Pretty spectacular build and quite crafty, so well done! The one thought I had as you built this was about the water. You've got levels, and a bridge, it seems like a slightly missed opportunity not to have a creek or water feature run through the complex. Some canal action or whatnot. I realize space is tight but you can almost see what would be the remnant of a creek bed that goes under that bridge and into the zoo. I would think with the habitats and whatnot that a waterway would be a great addition. Otherwise it's just a very great build, well done!

Love the build and the idea of a hybrid park! You may want to look at the elevation behind the monkey palace; having open enclosures next to a elevated area would let mischievous folks potentially toss items into the habitat. Also, it feels as if the inlet has such potential but nothing there. Potentially moving the open water exhibit to the inlet would utilize the space well and keep the sea life from being in open water, as well as provide for another space to place concessions and restrooms near that end of the park and on the shoreline with a great view to eat your overpriced hot dog and nachos!

One note, and I've seen other comments saying this too, you made such a big deal at the beginning how Chuckles wanted to orient his park to prioritize the highway because that's where his business is coming from. I don't think there's any way he would plant trees along the highway side of the park because that's costing him precious envious visibility to every vehicle passing by. In fact he'd more likely put up unsightly signs or billboards along that stretch of road advertising the park and telling drivers to "exit now!" etc. Not as pretty for the city, but I think more realistic based on my experiences living near amusement parks growing up and begging my parents to take us every time we drove by. What a great build! I think the paths inside the Carnival could use even more lights as there are a lot of poorly lit areas while walking around at night.

lmao not the amusement park lighting fireworks next to the animals, not to mention the thrill rides with people screaming next to the lions. Gotta love Chuckles

There is no doubt that CS1 would have flopped if it weren't for the modding community. Eight years later and the game can still feel fresh and exciting. Love watching your content Phil, my partner and I watch it together.

Hi Phil! Great episode. In 50:00, this is where those invisible terraforming networks would come in clutch and flatten the pad for the ferris wheel without affecting the quay.

It’s always great to see the different parklife areas being blended together as there are some neat assets to use! I think you used some of the propless paths in the zoo side which means a large part of it doesn’t have lighting. Maybe some lights could also be added on the quay wall?

Seems like building in a closet for the parks, especially the animals. I think space is quite tight and intense noise. Regarding the visitors, more people enter through the zoo due to bus stop vs highway travelers.

looks really nice! I do worry that you leveled a bulk of the park at or below lake level. It seems like a bit of a bowl, and might flood with heavy rain or waves from the lakes. Maybe some regrading or a retention basin to mitigate this?

Phil, get rid of that little, naturally occuring 'sea cove' you ringed with quay walls. Fill it in and use that space to add the couple zoo enclosures and any other elements you are thinking about leaving out. 👍
@astrognash.

Phil, this is a nice park, but to really take it to the next level, you need a weenie! A big, visual element (like Cinderella's Castle at Disney) that draws people from the entrance deeper into the park (and, in this case, would be visible from the road).
@RileyPsyches
@RileyPsyches Год назад
I think you can fit in the two final enclosures! If you extend along the beach where the elephants are. It might be nice to add an extra entrance on that end, which could share parking with a public (or private?) beach 🏖

A lot of birds (particularly the fancier sort you'd see in a zoo) are quite sensitive to air quality and noise. I doubt Chuckles would care too much for their welfare, but the vet bills or cost of replacing them might be persuasive. Alternatively, he could just dye some pigeons various colors and let them into the aviary, lol.

This is a great series and as a resident of northern Michigan myself, it's great to see some representation! I have seen others comment but I think it's worth reiterating, the reason that the underpass has to slope down so steeply is because your Mackinaw bridge does not raise off the ground enough. The bridge is waaayyy higher in real life and there's park and beach under it. If you raised the bridge a fair amount it would look much more realistic! Love the series regardless and keep up the great work!

Love the amusement zoo build. I think a park this size would benefit from a gondola. Ultra large amusement parks tend to have a transport system like that, maybe even a train, but the station assets are usually too big in CS

I like the trees between the path along the elephants enclosure and the lower road, covering the cliff. However, I'd think an additional fence would be nice for safety - children at play everywhere

Where you removed all of the parking spots from the park entrances, you could place some kiosks…let the spending start even before you pay to enter the park, and one last chance for the kiddos to beg for a balloon or a treat in case mom and dad were slick enough to avoid the gift shops on the way out. If there’s one thing Chuckles loves more than laughing, it’s making money!

Something you can to do hide those little protrusions where the path meets the quay is add small rock formations. It would make the hole area look a lot nicer and give a more finished feel.
