I remember my first Slayer show at The Stone in SF when they opened for Laaz Rockit. Slayer absolutely shredded that club down to it’s studs. I think was 1984. I had bought Show No Mercy (vinyl) a few months prior, but it was so raw and powerful, and I didn’t like it that much. After that show I was hooked. To me, Reign in Blood was their masterpiece, 30 minutes of absolute destruction. I think I saw them about 6 times in the 80s then once with Lamb of God at SJ Arena about 15 yrs ago. Will miss them, great memories.

Probably the most respectable band in our scene. Beez, I'm glad to see you around RU-vid! You know you've got all my support, as always. Bye from Barcelona.

I've been lucky enough to catch Slayer twice on this final tour, once in Cardiff and again at Download, and both times blew my mind,. for one thing I didn't know you could out-pyro Rammstein but Slayer certainly gave them a run for they're money IMO. Tbh the fact that I'll never see them live again hasn't fully sunk in but I'm so fucking happy I got to see them and that the're able to go out whilst still fucking reigning. Slayer are the epitome of extreme and you don't really get any more metal than fucking slayer.

aimlessCorsair They had these flames that shot out in the formation of an inverted crucifix the last time they played the Forum in Inglewood. It was so rad. 😆

Slayer was the second metal show I had ever gone to (after Pantera). I saw them on the 'Divine Intervention' tour and I don't remember a single moment of it. I guess I was just concussed by the force of the music.

I grew up with Slayer and I never thought they were anti-religion but instead anti-organized religion. Regardless, they are legendary and fashionable while retaining their sound that is completely identifiable with youth and old crusty like myself. War ensemble makes me want to ride a ten speed while swinging a katana with a cigarette.

Tom is a devout Catholic, so think they just mainly enjoy the showbusiness aspects of pushing those buttons.

What he said. Tom is a catholic guy but also sings “I keep the Bible in a pool of blood so that none of its lies can affect me.” The message is what it is.
