The M3 estate was crushed before it went to court, the police were fined and was told to give the M3 back before having to tell the judge that they had already crushed the car. They were then told to give full compensation. It’s messed up

oh yeah, I'm actually from the area where that m3 was crushed, as it turns out the police did another investigation after the fact and whoopsie, turns out the whole stolen parts thing was false. they crushed a perfectly legal and well built car. the police round here are an absolute shambles, and the fact that they focused on this rather than the knife crime that happens every 5 minutes is abhorrent. they also seized some kid's drift mx5 as well earlier and were really trying to justify it saying it had "illegal mods" when in reality there was almost nothing wrong. oh yeah, the removal of airbag steering wheels can now land you a fine and your mot to be invalidated as well. and yet it took a month for them to start on anything to do with the theft of my neighbor's fiesta. tl:dr the cops in the west mids are fucking useless.

God damn it, the police are awful at handling theft almost everywhere it seems. Around here they've sometimes downright refused to even have a look if an original owner has spotted their very unique modified, stolen car sitting on someone else's property. I mean FFS, you say you're spread too thin, but here's a SOLVED CASE served on a silver platter to polish up your atrocious statistics, and you'd rather have your guys sit around in a car behind a shrubbery and write out tickets.

Instead of crushing and wasting these illegally imported and built cars, we should really just have a system where they're rebuilt to be legal, and resold on auction or something. Otherwise, this is a huge waste of materials and quite frankly, nice cars that could be enjoyed by someone else who could get some mileage out of them.

as a bmw fanboy, seeing an M3 Touring that was never even officially built in the first place hurts my heart. Those were 2/2 custom made M3’s but now it’s a 1/1, there’s still a blue M3 Wagon with an LCI conversion (unlike the green one in the video which is a pre LCI) still riding around the UK streets.

I like how the British police had a problem with parts of the M3 being from other stolen vehicles, so instead of returning those parts to their owners, they just crushed the car. Imagine if they did that with other things as well: Police: So we know you recently reported that someone had stolen you phone, and we have great news - it's been found! Some guy: Awesome! Where can I collect it? Police: Aw that won't work mate, we've set fire to it. G: ? Police: Yeah it was stolen property. We've made a great video of it on our Instagram though, you want the link? we actually have that in germany its called a history title. you can run a car catless if it never came with one don´t need to pay taxes for it and the insurance is really low. you get a little H on the end of the plate too pretty nice my rx7 has history plates.

I remembered there was an episode on Top Gear where Jeremy raced in a lancer evo 7 against the british army. The car was owned by a drug dealer and it was originally meant to be crushed by the police. But was eventually brought down by the army as it went out in flames.

yeh, Aussie here, my AE86 is at 1 of 3 strikes just for accidentally chirping the wheels whilst turning when I had a new button clutch I wasn't used to. I got charged with "excess noise and smoke pollution", a charge that's supposed to be for people doing burnouts around crowds of people dangerously etc. When I went to court the judge basically threw it out but couldn't take away the strike, the best he could do was give me a 100 dollar fine, the minimum. Basically the cops have full power with hooning laws not even a judge can reverse the strike it's ridiculous.

I'm glad to see that the Police Forces around the globe have in common the trait of spending well public money. "OMG how dare you have fun in your car! We'll crush it. That's right: not resell it, nor rent it, nor put it in a museum, nor use it ourselves... we'll destroy it." Australia is 90% desert: create dedicated hoon parks, with an admission fee. Police could use those same tracks for their own training, and even organize paid courses for the public. You know? Creating things and having a friendly relationship with the public, instead of just destroying stuff and be the guys that give you fines for doing 40 in a 35 zone.

An old buddy of mine was given a preproduction 5th gen Pontiac Grand Am to produce aftermarket parts for. It was given an Eaton supercharger, racing hart ç5 wheels, massaging seats, body kit, etc. I managed to get almost all the aftermarket stuff when it got sent to the crusher in exchange for putting my stock parts on it to be crushed.

I've been dailying an old Beetle for 11 years, I feel like it got a lot of respect since I got it. Some think it's a bit silly, which is fair because the thing is totally silly - that's why I and everyone else love it. Boomers are always nostalgic over it, thinking of how they had one when they were young. People might laugh at you if you drive a New Beetle, which as a classic Beetle owner I see as fair because it's a Golf with a Barbie Car body, nothing more than a novelty.

There is no reason to crush it. They should have made the guy to pay his taxes and then given the car back to him. If he couldn’t have paid then the goverment should have just sold the car and keep the money that they should have earned from the unpaid taxes. There is just no reason to crush the car.🤬

According to my dad, a lawyer, if a vehicle were imported legally but its value under-declared, the owner will be given a chance to pay it accordingly (as what you've stated). Unfortunately, the crushed cars were illegally imported and well... painfully executed

To see this is like the „Scrapping Bonus“ we had in germany in 2008.Soo many good cars were send to the crusher for a so called „Cleaner environment“😢 You traded your „old and dirty“ car in for a new one ,got a 2500€ bonus from the Dealer/County. But in the end you still had a dirty car because most of the new cars had the manipulation software in it 🤣🤣

"Cash For Clunkers" Was the USA version of that program. Lasted from 2002-2008. I remember watching our local news, and the reporter was in tears watching a "Near mint" Iroc Z be crushed. Not only did this clean out most classic cars at the time, but it TRASHED the used car market for 10 years to follow. I got my license right at the end of that program, and there was no such thing as a sub $5k car, even in 2009. That program is still the reason why we have too much scrap as a nation. Scrap prices fell during that program, and never rose back up. People were scrapping cars that were driven to these events. Parkinglots would be rented out, and mobile crushers would be brought in. There would be miles of cars, waiting in line for a few thousand bucks, to dump there running cars...

7:53 the 620R was illegally imported to the philippines with the owner labelling it as a cayman to save taxes, the porsche 911, merc SLK, and lotus elise most likely also fell victim to being illegally imported (there was also a bentley and a genesis but they weren't seen on camera), a few years prior to this incident they also crushed cars such as the lamborghini gallardo, nissan 350Z, ford mustang SVT, chevy corvette (classic one as well, ouch), mclaren 720S (fate still unknown though), mclaren MP4-12C (fate also unknown), lamborghini murcielago, and ferrari F430 to name a few

I would love to see hi/low do a season on engine swaps. I would like to suggest the Ford Focus V8 swap. Kugel kompponents makes the engine, transmission, and rear end cradle so this is a Bolt on project. It would be interesting to see what the differences would be between used/cheaper and new/expensive Transmissions engines and rear ends, amongst other parts. I think it would be interesting to see what a modern take focus roadster would do with the 4.6 or 5.0 smallblock V8 in it

Tbh car crushers are like the dumbest thing to exist. Look, I get that you want to punish people who had done wrong, but completely destroying those cars is stupid in so many ways. There are way better options if the car's are in good shapes: - Auction them off, you'll even get money out of them - Strip them apart and sell the parts as spares and replaces, you'll even get money out of them - Donate them to schools etc. so learning mechanics can practice on them and schools have less costs, you'll even save money with this All in all just plain stupid. Also you destroy some car history with it, f.e. with the 650 R which is limited or the Vipers
