I guess it is hard to notice that Will was lying about El commissioning the painting. But if you listened carefully to how El recaps what was going on with Will, you would know. "Will is painting a lot. But he won't show me what he's working on. Maybe it is for a girl. I think there is someone he likes, because he has been acting weird..." - Eleven (S04E01 around the 11 minute mark)
@FangedStew9530 If it was so obvious, this video would not have been created. Given that the episode where Will lied is in the middle of the season while the information that proves he was lying is in episode one, it is easy to miss. Remember, not everyone binge-watch the show.
Exactly what I said when I saw this video. You know Will is lying because El even says in that first episode that he is always painting, but he won't show anyone what he's been working on. Glad I wasn't the only one who caught this.
@@zantos4853 His, who? The video poster? Or Will? Either way, sensing a speaker's sincerity isn't something that every human being is equipped with. Also, "signs of lying" is different in many cultures.
dude no offense but how did you miss that it was a lie!! he paused and made it up on the spot and the knowing look and how it's pretty obvious that Will made it himself, El knows nothing about dnd or anything about their party since it pretty much disbanded before she even saw it, it was 100% obviously Will from the beginning!
Pay attention to the beggining, the letter from El to Mike S4E1 in the first 12 minutes. She says something about Will doing a painting for someone HE likes (El thought was some girl), so she doesn´t knew ANYTHING about what was in the painting... And she said that Will had been acting weird. I noticed that in the first episode because everyone was talking a lot about that painting, so I payed attention when I saw that episode.
Joyce says will dad use to call him queer, she says will drew the picture with rainbow colors, Mike says its not my fault you don’t like girls , will lied about the painting , will confesses how he really feels about himself pretty much throughout all of season 4. I really hope they make will character come out because so many signs point to it.
After the scene with Jonathan I'd say they're building to him at least telling him (and perhaps Joyce too). It's anyone's guess whether he's ever going to tell Mike though.
At the same tame, I'd hate for the whole LGBT situation to override his whole character. It's a big issue people in general have, trading in their personality for their sexuality as their identity.
I think Will lying about the painting and his speech to Mike (which he claims is what El feels) is gonna bite him in the ass. Besides the fact that it basically took away what El truly feels and thinks, Mike was able to say I love you because of the lie (remember, you’re the heart!). He’s absolutely gonna get found out and I wonder how it will unravel and if he will reveal his feelings to Mike 👀 I’m Team Will obviously 🤍
@@ExulInsani I honestly see it both ways. I agree with you, in a way, they've been a thing for seasons but I don't think Mike and El are a good match. It's just, Mike views her as a superhero, so whenever she does something that he considers not superhero-y he makes her feel bad, and its happened since s1. Even El mentions it to him in s4. On the other hand Mike and Will, Mike makes Will feel likes he's not a mistake and they have had a close connection since the beginning, so them getting together wouldn't be that bad of a decision, if done right ofc.
They had to cut those lines because it should have been so obvious to Mike what Will was really talking about without them but with them it would have been even more apparent.
With that in mind, while I *love* Noah's performance in this scene and it feels totally realistic for Will to get that worked up, it just makes Mike look like a complete idiot. Will is very clearly getting choked up, but apparently Mike is either too obtuse to notice, or too embarrassed to mention it.
With the lie about el commissioning the painting, in the first episode el said something along the lines of, “I don’t know what he’s been painting, maybe for a girl he likes”
Yea the Duffers think the GA is smarter than they really are lol. I don’t think a lot of people picked up on that. Will is my favorite character so I picked up on that immediately
Wait, am I going crazy? Or are all o those scenes in the chapter? I remember the "Superman landed on his doorstep" and the "rip it like a band-aid" scene, they all made it to the final product.
They're partially there. There's a little bit in the Superman line about 'at least Lois Lane had (something great, cannot remember what lol)', and the bandaid bit is missing the line saying 'it hurts too much'. So it's only small differences, while the main gist is still there.
Both lines are there and are complete, at least in the version I have. I just rewatched the scene a minute ago and both lines are spoken pretty much word for-word from the written script. Perhaps the aired version was cut a bit.
It was so funny how he compared El to SuperMAN though and not like Wonder Woman (like Max) or Supergirl (like Argyle). But nah to Mike she’s Superman. Or Yoda.
My only problem with the novels is they aren't written by the Duffers or any of the writers of the show. They are written by authors outside of the framework of the show who come up with what they think happened in those moments. Sure they get a list from the Duffers on what they can or can't write about, but that's still just glorified fan fiction IMO.
Facts. Like Eleven's father for an example, people keep referencing the book but that wasn't written from the Duffer Brothers so It's not the real deal
To me it was so obvious he was lying, I had no idea some people didn't notice it. But I think that's a good thing: Some people, just like Mike, were focusing on his relationship with El and didn't doubt that "yeah, of course she would do that, she loves Mike" And some people, like Jonathan, care way more about Wills feelings and catch all those little details that leaded to that lie And don't know if that made any sense, english is not my first language 😆
Honestly, people are always against Mike and Will getting together but I'm personally all for it. They say Mike and El are endgame and "adorable". Uh yeah. It's so adorable how they got together in S1 when El barely knew how to interact with people. It's so adorable how they spent most of S2 completely separate. It's so sweet how all they've done for the past 2 seasons is lie to each other, get angry, fight, and break up. This definitely feels like such an endgame idea. And honestly, they've kept us out of Mike's head for a while now. But I definitely like him with Will better and I think there are hints to him maybe feeling the same way.
Mike and El are most likely endgame. Their relationship has been turbulent the past couple seasons, but that's not to say it can't improve S5. I do like the relationship between Mike and Will more, though, and I kinda ship it. It's more compelling to me, and honestly, there are a lot of great fic writers who can handle it better than the showrunners most likely. Canon isn't everything. I strongly feel like Mike and El were always intended to be endgame. There's so much emphasis on their relationship and feelings for one another throughout the show that I'd be shocked if this weren't the case.
Mike and will can't happen because mike literally forgot his existence for 2 seasons now and it looks like he doesn't care about him anymore he barely know anything about Will's life past 2 seasons what he's going through, what he's doing.. mike doesn't care a bit which is very sad imo he should atleast treat him like he used to whereas when Mike was away from el he thought about her everyday and he was sending letters to her in California he was also trying to talk to her through the walkie he really missed her and it's way too obvious mike and el are the end game therefore there's no chance for will and Mike
The “because losing you it just hurts it hurts so much” that wasn’t just about Will moving it was about how Will feels like he lost mike, his life long crush that he absolutely adores, when him and el got together.
another thing to be mentioned abt the van scene is that it somewhat parallels a scene in s2 where will is the one saying "you really think so?" and mike says "yeah." the roles are reversed in the van scene and in the script will says "i know so." another cool thing about the scene is that the track that plays is called "being different" and towards the end (the part where will is crying i think) the song plays a melody thats similar to the tracks "the first i love you" and "the first lie", the tracks that play when robin comes out, el says she loves mike, and the jancy scene in s2. so it was will's first lie and i love you (as a gay person.)
Now that it’s confirmed that Will’s words to Mike wasn’t about El - and that it was a lie that it was El who commissioned it - it will be only a matter of time until the truth comes out in season 5. And I would seriously be so shocked if this slow burned romance that’s been building up since SEASON 1 between Will and Mike ends up being one sided. It was clearly Will’s painting and Will’s words in the van that made Mike tell El he loved her. If only he knew it wasn’t how El felt about him, “You’re the heart”, it was Will - all along.
same. itd be so painful to see this gay kid suffering nonstop, and his feelings being used to uplift mileven just make me feel sad. plus mike wants to feel loved the same way that will loves him. mike wants to feel needed and will says he needs him. :(
@@kamilo7473 YES. Everything is pointing at Will and Mike being endgame. They wouldn’t build up an entire story arc of the season just Will pining over Mike (and push him towards confessing his feelings for El?) for it to be unrequited in the next season, that wouldn’t make sense at all.
@@angelwithnightmares Everything to me is pointing to unrequited love. I feel like Mike will reject Will but assure him that he is still his best friend and that he loves him, but not the same way. If there’s a significant time skip I kinda hope it happens before and their arc is coming to terms with things and rebuilding their friendship. Will getting over the heartbreak and embarrassment of confessing your love for someone who doesn’t feel the same way and Mike missing his best friend trying to repair their friendship.
@@whitelasagna6786 Unrequited where? To me, it looks like Mike is feeling the same way and there’s a lot of proof for it. For example, he has internalised homophobia, and he doesn’t know about Will’s feelings for him, he assumes that Will is straight since he was painting for “a girl he likes”, accoarding to El’s letter. The way he hugs him at the airport, even though he has no problems at all with hugging his other friends. The way he panicks when Will accidentally touches him. The way he NODS when Will says “Sometimes it’s just scary to open up like that, to say how you really feel, because what if they don’t like the truth?” As he AGREED with what he said. And the way he looked at Will in the van, so flustered and happy for the painting at first but then the smile drops as soon as Will says it’s from El. They wouldn’t film an entire season of building up the romance between these two (The California plotline) just for it to be unrequited and one-sided in the end. It wouldn’t make any sense and it would be a huge waste of time.
I think that in season 5 mike will get vecna'd and vecna will haut him about how he really doesn't love el anymore, bc he loves will. Basically torment him with his internalized homophobia. I think that by the end of season 5 will and mike will be together (they have been foreshadowing it every since season 1) BYLER WILL BE ENDGAME!!!
Did this man watch the show with his eyes closed...? Honestly his videos don't seem genuine or provide any actual analysis, like half of this video is just incoherent meaningless rambling and ads. Smh.
I think it was obvious that Will was lying about El telling him to commission the painting. Cause in the First Episode (if it was the first Episode) El states in the letter to Mike that Will is painting something that she has no clue of what it could be. With Her having suspicions that he must like someone.
To be fair it's a very German looking name (no idea where it actually originated tho), in which case Michael nailed the pronunciation. But you're right that that's how Noah pronounces it, so that's about it.
Will was obviously lying about the painting because in the 1st episode of the season, via 011's letter to Mike, it's revealed she doesn't know what it is because Will won't tell. If Mike read her letters, he'd know that. 🤦♀️
Dude when el broke troys arm mike was like “ YOUR A. HERO GOOOOD JOBB EL!!!!!” but when she hurt her bully it’s not ok??? Like what the hell makes it okay to hurt his bully if she can stick up for herself!💀😠
@@aubreydeangelo I feel like part of it was bc of the blood. There was no blood when Troy broke his arm. But that’s only like 5 percent the rest goes to him being a litteral toxic a hole.
In season 1, mike would have died because of troy cuz they were going to make him fall from the cliff or smth. In season 4, though the whole roller coaster crusade circle thingy was still bad, it didn't come close to anyone's life in danger. But still mike really should not have doubted el bcz she still was acting in self defense
I realised that will was lying about the painting while I watched it. I knew cuz at the start el said in the letter how she didn’t know what the painting was. If Mike re-read this letter he would realise it was will who thought of making it.
Of course its a lie bro El said that Will didn’t want to show her what he is painting…haven’t you watched it with all your videos😭 and they cut things out because they didn’t want to me it TOO obvious that Will loves Mike because then like would be too blind lmao
Earlier in the show- in a letter to Mike, El made a comment about how Will would not let her see the painting. Thats how I knew he was lying when he said El helped him with it.
As mad as I was at mike for not comforting will in the moment, I kinda understand lol. They're in the back of a car and they don't really have privacy and, like Jonathan, he knew he couldn't really comfort him there. Hopefully we see this get rectified in s5 tho
Yeah people say the same about Mike dying and I'm just... no? Unless they mean Will would be vulnerable to possession because he's spiralling, but if the Mind Flayer can just hop on in whenever he wants I can't see it being that difficult for Vecna if he wanted to.
At the beginning “Els note said will is making a painting. I don’t know what it is. I think she likes a girl.” So this is more support that will is talking about himself here
Mike and El obviously love each other. But only platonically. I literally refuse to believe that Mike isn’t also gay and reciprocates Will’s feelings (he just doesn’t know it) because it’s literally so obvious. Mike *is* scared of losing El. He’s scared of losing her as a beard!!!!! I mean, why the hell is Mike looking at Will’s lips in this scene. WHY DID THEY KEEP THAT IN??? That monologue was total BS and El KNOWS IT!!!! That’s why she doesn’t talk to him in the end. Like it’s RIGHT THERE!!! Mike Wheeler is gay. Mike Wheeler is completely GAY
Keep dreaming buddy, people WANT mike to be gay so they project that desire onto every single scene he is in... Its really ridiculous, when did a teenager having trouble saying I love you suddenly equal gay. The wheeler parents don't exactly set the best example for sharing there feelings so why would Mike? El didn't talk to Mike or anyone much after everything because she had just lost to Vevna and her only female friend might not ever wake up from a coma. Your logic is so far of a stretch its laughable
Man was really grasping at straws so much he went into eye movement and assuming they are looking at his lips. But what did I expect from someone with shipper on their name. Also it kinda ruins a lot of the story if el and Mike don’t like each other like that.
I agree with you 100%, but there is definitely more solid evidence that Mike may reciprocate his feelings towards Will than just the fact that he was staring at Wills lips, lol.
I have a theory about how Henry gets his powers I think stranger things 5, will introduce us to a stranger character who gave a damn to Henry and used him. Can you tell me what is believed?
they said they editted the van scene to be 'more subtle' and mikes line of being able to tell el doesnt need him anymore being cut for 'subtlety' is making me think shes gonna break up with him before the timeskip in s5
That's exactly how I feel it ended with Hawkins being split open and it honestly looked like Karen had an idea something else was happening and I believe that because in season 1 when Ted said trust the government she rolled her eyes. So I do think part of her is a deeper thinker and figure it out and what would they tell the towns people anyway? Earthquakes don't crack open into what looks like molten lava? Wouldn't so many of the towns people see that? In my mind, it would start right where it ended off, in a really crazy way. I dont understand how they're going to pull it off and why they're doing it. If they're doing it cause they are getting older I feel most fans could deal with it because they wouldn't look WAY old and it they look a bit older that is better than working around that effecting the story! I really don't understand.
The Duffers made Will open to interpretation or they're bad writers. If you were a kid at that time and your best friend moved away, it was goodbye forever. No internet to keep in touch. It was painful.
Mileven's problem wasn't el going too far. Going too far was mike deeming el as going too far. Why did mike say what did you do? and stuff to el as tho she murdered without a cause, like she's a monster. But back in s1, el rescued mike by breaking 1 boy's arm and could snap their neck if she wanted. Mike said she wasn't a monster by doing that. But now, after that event, mike doesn't even trust el even though she saved their asses a lot of times. Honestly, will and el are so underappreciated.
Yeah, in S1 he was still completely blinded by seeing her as this superhero, and now that this facade is crumbling, he can't keep denying that she has flaws. But idk if he can accept that
I would definitely love to read books of stranger things but I think they will release the books when season 5 will already be out. It just makes sense. And I also would want it to be like that
I am cool if Will is actually gay but I just wish they made it more clear in seasons 1-3. I just rewatched 1-3 and short of me being completely oblivious it seems like LGBT is the new token and Will went under some heterosexual conversion therapy offscreen because Netflix demanded a token gay guy for season 4. If I am indeed oblivious I would like to know what I missed after watching 1-3 for a third time.
I actually did have my suspicions about Will lying about the painting. not only about WHEN but also WHY El should've asked him too. the why explained here simply doesn't feel like something El would've asked of him.
Am I missing something? I'm pretty sure that all these lines were in the show, the ones about Mike's fears about El was definately there... very confused about which lines were cut here.
Wait... You didn't know Will was lying about the painting? I thought it was obvious D: He was talking about his feelings, not El's, that's why he cries.
I think they left that last one out because the script needs Mike not to know or to convincingly fake he doesn't know by that point. Dropping him the "losing you hurts that much" would make that impossible. Let's not forget season 3, when Mike said "It's not my fault you are not into girls". He probably knows Will was gay fpr a while and he probably picked up the hints about his feelings towards him. But there's too much on his plate, he has to figure out how to keep his friend in a complicated relationship.
"I saw it in her eyes" I think Mike was referring at the way she looked away when she was being taken by the police. She didn't believe him when he said he was going to fix it.
