The philosopher stone can really carry during a boss fight, and it is definitely worth getting.

By the way, it is confirmed that in a later update they’re going to make it so you can equip ANY accessory in a vanity slot so you can swap them out for strategies like this

A way to fix the time lost when switching it out is turning autopause on (idk if its a pc feature as well) which then makes your inventory pause the game like the menu, so you can exit the inventory and heal with minimal damage taken.

As a terraria player for a very long time, I really understand the usefulness of this accessory! It is actually even better if you upgrade it into Charm of Myths (an accessory that increases life regen by 1 point every second and reduces healing potion cooldown from 60 seconds to 45 seconds)

I always used the charm of myths in every Terraria playthrough I did, even all the way to Moonlord. The faster healing definitely helped me evade death a couple of times, and with the trick you mention it would've no doubt been even better.

I've recently been using the Charm of Myths just as a permanent accessory. When you're always going Melee Class having that extra health regen can be very helpful

I never use the Phil Stone on its own, but I tend to use the Charm of Myths in early hardmode because its a good accessory in its own right. The 1 extra point of healing per second is more useful than you’d expect.

Even when you don’t swap it every time the charm of myths is more than worth giving up a damage accessory for, against bosses, in my opinion. Especially against moon lord, the reduced cool-down and increased regen are invaluable.

If you ask me, the class which most benefits from the CoM accessory swapping strat is probably summoner. Losing focus during the fight matters far less when you have built-in auto-attacking as the main gimmick of the class.

if you dont wanna make a band of myths to put the philosophers stone in your vanity, appearently 1.4.4 is allowing every accessory to be put in vanity slot

charm of myths is an accessory i almost always use when i get the chance because the cooldown reduction is so good, especially with the buffed restoration potions in late pre-hardmode/early hardmode from opening shadow chests

Could also right click from the inventory or accessory slots for even quicker swapping

I guzzle potions frequently with that, and it saves my life just as often. It was my go-to accessory during my first ever playthrough. And I think I used it in a similar way like you described too, I had the stone in my accessory slot (I was on 1.3 in that old world) and I would swap it out every so often, however I usually keep it there forgetting to swap it back since I was so bad at the fight I needed constant focus... Though my setup wasn't that great due to lack of equipment balancing experience so I wasn't loosing much damage or defense anyway.

The philosopher's stone reduces potion sickness by 25% essentially increasing your rate of healing by 33%, so it is the most essential part of any tank build. If we count with greater healing potions, it increases healing over time by 50 health/minute, which may very well make the difference between life and death

i did not know it could only be used once and then replaced thanks this was really helpful info and will keep this info in mind in my next playthroughs also a very nice video

i used this for a while and when i finally figured out how the tinker’s workshop worked i was even more happy to combine it with something else and get more buffs out of it. However i found that i didnt even use potions that much later on so i ended up getting rid of it and equipping something else

The philosopher's stone is a must especially when playing a squishy class like summoner in early hard mod simply because it's really easy to upgrade it to a charm of myth which is when it really starts saving your butt and during some fights

assuming a greater healing potion, it's mathematically equivalent to getting +0.8 health regen per second. (calculated as the amount of extra health you get per second you spend with the potion sickness debuff) whether that's worth it is dependant on the length of the fight and your ability to micromanage it without getting hit.

A neat little thing you can do is throw it in an accessory vanity slot which wouldn't be as significant as your other accessories, then right click it and it should swap with that slot only, so you don't accidentally swap out your wings or boots. I love this accessory, the regeneration it provides when upgraded is why I keep it on pretty much till Plantera.

Man I've been using the charm of myths in all my vanilla playthroughs. It's amazing and I'm so happy the philosopher stone got some attention thanks to this video.

I'm doing a Fargo eternity mode run right now, and I've been using this strategy. By enabling the "autopause" option on, you can essentially heal, but without the "lower focus" you described at the end of your video. Although, this is so powerful I almost consider it as cheesing... But it gets the job done wonderfully !

1.4.4 changed it so the healing goes back up to 60 after swapping back

You can right click an accessory in your vanity slots to quick swap it with your active one if that one can also be equipped in the vanity slot, so the fastest way to heal is theoretically inventory -> rmb on stone -> quick heal -> rmb on swapped accessory -> close inventory (or you can keep it open the entire time if it doesn't bother you tbh), if your mouse has macros i reccomend binding them to inventory and quick heal respectively, or at least put heal on middle click as H is clunky and way less convenient to reach

When I do use it, I always upgrade it to the charm of myths and just keep that equipped all the time. The health regen that it also adds isn't something that you should just scoff at.

you can actually right click it while in the vanity slot and it will equip it and swap with the other acessory if the one can be equiped in the vanity slot aswell

You can also swap accessories between vanity slots by right clicking on them. So you can have the charm of myths in your vanity slot next to your terraspark boots, for example, and swap between them when you need to heal.

if you put a accsesory in the vanity slot you can rightclick to swap it with the accsesory next to it this allows for even swaps without disrupting your fight all that much

(Before you read: This is what used to happen before 1.4. I’m not sure if they’ve changed it or not, so take this and know I could be wrong.) Yeah you can do it on console, but I’m pretty sure it will cycle through all of your accessories. Example: You have accessories 1 through 5 equipped, and accessory 6 is in your inventory. When you go to quickly switch the accessories without dragging it over from your inventory to your equipment page, it’ll cycle out accessory 1 and swap in accessory 6, as expected. However, when you go to quickly cycle it back in, it won’t put accessory 1 back in. Instead it will start going down your accessories from top to bottom, and it will cycle accessory 6 in to every slot. A long and complicated explanation, but I wanted to get my statement across.

Hey, did you know that you can instantly swap the vanity slot with the corresponding accessory slot without having to left click multiple times? You can just right click the item in the vanity slot and it will instantly switch out with the item in the corresponding accessory slot. Its a small time save, but during tougher boss fights every second matters.

you can right click items that are in vanity slots to quick swap them with the corresponding accessory item too, assuming the item in the accessory slot can be put in vanity

In an average bossfight, 1 minute can feel like a lifetime.

there is a fast way of swapping and then healing, if you put the charm of myths in a vanity slot next to another accessory that can go in a vanity slot. You can quickly, right click it, then press H and right click it again to put your normal accessory on

The flying knife you get from mimics is super underrated also, its such an amazing weapon for when you get it

If I'm not wrong, you can also right click the charm of myth in the vanity slot to swap it with the one equipped in the same line. It only works for the vanity slot, it does not work if you right click the accessory slot and you can do so only with an accessory that can go in the vanity slot

The charm of myths is great when you have 7 accessory slots, I ended up using it all the way up until post golem

Their is a way to bypass the accessory thing idk if it's only on console but after the update their is a new lock item animation where if you drag and switch a item it automatically switches their places this can also be used on all accessories but for it to begin you have to have an accessory that can normally go into the vanity accessory slots such as wings. So for instance if you wished to put the philosophers stone in the vanity slot you would have the have the wings in the vanity slot corresponding to it's accessory, from there put the philosophers stone into the accessory slot then switch it with the wings. Now the philosophers stone can be switched between the vanity slot and accessory slot but this only can happen if a visible accessory is in the vanity slot prior to putting the philosophers stone in. I'll post a video to my channel, as I feel seeing it happen is easier than trying to understand this Edit: 3:22 yea it can work on console but when we open our inventory it force locks us into the slot below the hotbar slot so you would have to have the stone placed under the weapon mainly being used in a fight to maximize time.

I find the philosopher stone / charm of myths is useful in most places, but in terms of the most useful accessory, I would say the magilumiescence is a contender, because of its incredible versatility at the time you get it in game. Some people might not use the accessories in the videos because they don't get hit often, or they don't need to heal too much, but I agree with the tip of switching it on and off, and I use this often. To hasten your accessory switching, you can just right click on the accessory on the vanity slot to equip it in the accessory slot. I don't know if this still works in the recent patches, since it's been a little over 2 years since I last played Terraria, but it helps tremendously when abusing the Philo/Charm potion trick

One thing that can say is that on console (I’ve only tried Xbox) you can put non vanity accessories in the vanity slot via a bug where if you equip it and swap it with an item in your vanity slot.

The philosophers stone/charm of myths is something I just thought everyone used, 15 less seconds of potion sickness and more Regen? Seemed important to me at least

On PS4 (unsure if this works on other consoles) you can put the philosopher's stone in your vanity section by taking an item that CAN be placed in the vanity section, putting that item there, equipping the stone, and then swapping the accessories.

I literally always use philosopher stone when I’m playing because I use the same trick that you do or I just keep it equipped for the regen. But I realized how good it was when it helped me with skeletron prime one time I was so low on health because I accidentally switched me health with lesser healing and I didn’t want to die getting my health back… the philosopher stone makes that short duration of healing sickness stupidly fast and people hardly realize it… definitely recommend because it’s more useful than it seems

You can right click on the vanity accessory to make them instantly swap and if in the inventory you can also switch it with the top accessory slot by simply right clicking, clicking again will swap them back so with some training you can swap heal swap within a couple of seconds so you dont have this awkward time scrambling through your inventory just to heal

The ability to put any accessory in any accessory slot or cosmetic one is in now. Plus there's loadouts and loadout hotkeys so you could potentially keep the charm in another loadout, drink a potion, tap f1/f2/f3 and back.

You can actually get it into the vanity slot because if you have something equipped that can be put in vanity put it there then equip the stone then select the item in vanity and replace the stone that will switch them and the philosophers stone will be in vanity

it is very useful in a mod like calamity that combines the philosophers stone into the ultimate accessories, helps out a lot with the crazy bonkers bosses

You can actually do the swap faster. If you have it in a vanity slot you can right click it (Granted you have something that can be put in a vanity slot), drink the potion and right click again to swap back.

I always make the charm of myths and keep it on, the extra regen speed is very useful and it’s one of my favourite accessories because it’s no useful, especially when combined with regen potion, and the set bonus of the palladium set+a fast weapon, campfires and heart lanterns only increase the power but they aren’t reliable when not near your arena

You can put any accessory in a vanity slot by putting said accessory in a main slot then move a vanity accessory into that same slot. I don't know if this works on PC but for console it will just swap the accessories around this putting the stone into vanity

I found a glitch while playing on 1.4 on my Xbox where if you have an accessory in a vanity spot and an accessory that can't be put into a vanity slot, you can pick up the vanity accessory and put it in the actual accessory slot that the non-vanity accessory is in, and it will swap the two, causing the non-vanity accessory to be put into a vanity slot. I'm not sure if it works on other platforms though, as I only have Terraria on my Xbox.

I almost always use a charm of myths as a regular accessory when it becomes available, regen + quicker re-heal is pretty huge.

Charm of Myths is an accessory I always use regardless of class, current activities, or loadouts. Unless it's something like a very very specific grinding loadout or something

The charm of myths helped me a ton trying to defeat Duke Fishron Pre-Mechs since you usually die in 1-3 hits but having that faster 150 hp from potions increases your survivability greatly.

There is a way you can put it into a vanity slot, at least on console. You need to have an item that can be placed into the vanity slot filling said slot, equip the stone and it should trade places when you interchange the pair. Effectively putting it in vanity.

What Is the mod for the Spawn rate And speed of your weapon?

For consoles, you could keep the stone in your hot bar, switch to it, then do hit the attack button to equip it to you top accessory slot. Then just quick heal, and hit your other accessory to switch it back. This is actually really cool, I didn’t know you could do this before.

Idk about console and I’ve only just started pc terraria so idk abt here either but I’m a mobile player and there’s a feature where you can pause the game while your inventory is open on mobile which is useful with this item in bossfights especially

I usually ignore the philosopher's stone because it's kinda rare and I don't like grinding very much. plus I didn't know it was a 25% decrease. I'll definitely use it more, especially combined with the band of regen.

About your mob farm what's the delo with that water in the middle of ur safety box.

If you are on console (and maybe even pc) i recommend using auto pause you can go into inventory, swap it, quickly close inventory menu then instantly open it again (so the effect actually happens) then swap it back this is what i do as a console player, it may even be helpful for some pc players too

At console is a bit harder to do, you need to press the inventary button again to it stay in the background, when you need to switch between the stone and other acessory you select it with r1/l1 or rt/lt then open the inventory and equip it quickly, because the character can't move with the inventory open.

You can also right click the charm of myths when its in ur vanity slot and it will swap witht eh accessory to the right of it.

If you right click on it while it’s in tue vanity slot it will swap with the main spot, instead of manually swapping them

I would like to point out, right-clicking on an accessory that is in a vanity slot instantly swaps it with the corresponding accessory in the adjacent active slot (also works with armors). Just beware tho, until the next update drops (where this won't be a problem anymore), the swapped accessory must also be able to be put in the vanity slot, otherwise it'll just remain on your cursor, thus disabling attacks. Ye all have fun :)

You can leave it on the vanity and right click and it will switch with the item slot to it's right for even faster switching !
