Well done. The theory behind his approach is that...in your town, today, there are between 10-100 people that are actively looking to buy what you sell....and probably several hundred that are thinking about it. You just have to find them. These cold calls are not for leads you paid $30 for, but for really cold calls. And I use it knocking on doors cold.

Key to gaining interest, 1- Your name 2- Where you are calling from 3- Why you are calling and the benefit of this call to that potential customer. Talk to much about stuff people do not care about you lose interest very quickly, especially over the phone, especially a cold call.

Hey David I'm a newbie (> 1 year experience) in insurance sales and I recently watched this video to improve my performance in cold calling. I used this script today (along with rebuttals taught by Claude Whitacre) and I managed to book an appointment with a plumber who's got insurance through a union...I've never dealt with a plumber who's insured through a union before...do you have any pointers for me?
@TheDIGAgency
@TheDIGAgency 5 лет назад
Fact-find when you get into the appointment, and if you discover the coverage is inadequate, offer more. It may be just a small burial/final expense plan, and may not be comprehensive enough to replace future income if he dies before retirement.

@@TheDIGAgency I operated a Handyman Business in Tucson, AZ for years before starting my yardwork business. My recommendation is to offer the restraint in a less "restraining" form here. For example, as a Handyman, I was, by definition, a jack-of-all trades (no avoiding that!), but there were jobs I loved doing the most, and was therefore better at. You don't say you only do that, but you say rather that you "specialize" in it. That way, you have identified the market you are most interested in, and kept the door open to all the honey do list items they can come up with. In fact, saying you specialize in honey do lists can work fine! Good luck!

Hey Dave,that method is also something that I found out that works well for me as well,over the past 3 years in the Janitorial Cleaning Business. Its short and sweet..Another way I get Solid appointments is I would ask,"What are the procedures that I must follow in order to provide you an estimate for your Janitorial Cleaning?" THAT'S IT.. 2-3 out of 10 would just say not interested. But out of the other 7 calls i notice that I'd get the Direct Person who handles the decision making and we'd set an appt. for that day or later in the week or other times within a month..Other times I'd get someone who says that they would be the person whom I'd see but the final say so is Blah Blah Blah and we'd set up appt. to see both.. It sounds 3rd gradish but it works.

Yes - hang up the phone and go to the next one! The idea behind the script is to move quickly during prospecting, focusing on cutting to the core on those prospects who are genuinely interested in hearing more about what you have to offer, without cajoling or employing typical pressure tactics.

@sixstanger00
@sixstanger00 5 лет назад
My only objection is that the script doesn't bother to introduce the sales rep's name and who they're with. As it reads, you're a no-name person calling them up out of the blue and telling them you sell X, and are asking if they're interested. Early in my trial-and-error phase of door-to-door, I accidentally asked _first_ if they'd be interested in my products before telling them who I was. The prospect seemed a bit annoyed that I didn't introduce myself and had to ask who I was and who I was with.
@TheDIGAgency
@TheDIGAgency 5 лет назад
Thanks for the comment. Just like all marketing activities, it comes down to testing the premise to see if it applies. I can see how prospects may come off negatively towards the pitch. However, I know an agent who uses a similar pitch over the phone, asking for free life insurance quotes calling on business owners. Says it works great for him!
@sixstanger00
@sixstanger00 5 лет назад
@@TheDIGAgency It may be different depending on what you're selling. I own a screen printing business, so most of my door-to-door & cold calls are to other businesses, and since a single sale can range from $300 to $1200, folks tend to want to know who you are before they'll even consider forking over that kind of cash :) I admit though that I have no formal sales training; everything I've learned has been from hands-on experience -- getting out there and hustling.

How often do people get caught up on the "why only for plumbers" part and how do you open up this exclusivity for the customer also?
@TheDIGAgency
@TheDIGAgency 5 лет назад
Very rarely. Remember we're trying to massage the prospect's interest, and if they show interest, that's our sign to close for the appointment. Not sure how you mean by your second question. It may help if you explain what you're selling.
@stevenhazel4445
@stevenhazel4445 5 лет назад
I mean how do you go from "Hey I have something only for Plumbers" to "actually I can get you in too"? Maybe it's a non-issue. IDK.
@yardmasterswealtheducation8424
