With Spider-Man: No Way Home out now, I explain why I think Tom Holland is the worst Spider-Man, and why all the other MCU Spider-Man characters are the worst versions of their characters as well. Twitter: / attilchannel
I agree. I wish his story had build up from being an independent hero then join the Avengers. I know the writers were thinking that viewers would get tired seeing Uncle Ben being the main focus for Peter to become Spider-Man but him being Iron Man's apprentice I feel wasn't really needed.
I thought his debut appearance in Civil War was godawful. All of the “humor” attached to his character is just him being painfully awkward and him acting like an autistic kid with ADHD. He was obnoxious even if his character is supposed to be that of a high schooler, and it felt like Tony Stark was babysitting a second grader rather than having deputized an adolescent that’s unfamiliar with the Avengers-level playing field.
@@HistoryPersist how. Every final villain he’s defeated by himself. Except nwh. But he’s clearly the front runner for that one. And would’ve ended goblin if not for Toby. He’s not a sidekick
This is why I love the PlayStation game version the most, because outside the suit he’s mature and a little awkward but stumbles to have a normal life, and in the suit he’s quippy and fun but not to an annoying degree
@@hoya1178DUDE TOM HOLLAND IS JUST A BAD SPIDERMAN, HE IS SO LAME. THAT WHY HE COMPARE THE INSOMNIACS SPIDERMAN, because even a spiderman from a game is better than your lame tom holland.
@@TSU_PIA Insomniac's Spider-Man needs constant help from others and Miles is proving to be a better Spider-Man than Peter even though he is less experienced. Also using capital letters that much makes you look like a little child.
I would’ve loved if everybody tried to undermine Spider-Man for his age just to prove to them that no, just because he’s young, doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be treated like an equal. Not a side kick, or an underling, his own hero who is more capable and selfless than most of the other heroes around him. All at the age of 16. Would’ve been awsome to see a live-action mcu rendition of the Spectacular Spider-Man tv show.
I get that in Homecoming, Tom Holland's spiderman was supposed to be young and naive but in the later movies they just made him stupid. His idiotic decisions in No Way Home seem selfish and childish. Isn't Peter Parker supposed to be intelligent? Difficult to relate to his spiderman because the decisions he made are the kind of the decisions that someone who lived a privileged life would make. And that's not Peter Parker.
@Erik Kemeey Curing them is kinda Cheesy for a Spiderman movie i thought Curing them was too easy just wish they would of put on a fight but the movie was good
You sir, have no idea who Spider-Man is. The genius behind the MCU, that no one appreciates, is that they were the first ones (in live action or cartoon) that showed how Spider-Man was in the first 28 issues of his comics. Aka the ditko high school era. Spider-Man doesn’t start as an inspiration in these comics, Spider-Man starts off as an unlucky frustrated little kid, who constantly tries to proof himself, and constantly fights an unfair world. It’s was also silly, entertaining, and very comic, because when Stan Lee started writing Spider-Man, he wrote his stories as a gag because he was so sick of the stuff he used to write all the years before he started the Marvel heroes. They were stories full of silliness, and cheesy situations, sprinkled with serious criminal drama. And that’s exactly how it is in the MCU. For example, you'll see Spiderman making plenty of mistakes like in homecoming and far from home. You'll see peter arresting criminals before they do a robbery and they call the police and him just standing there like an idiot (homecoming vibe), you'll see him getting scammed and being played by mysterio (far frome home vibe), you'll see him having an adventure with Dr. Strange around the time of his graduation (No way Home vibe), you'll see him comparing himself to johnny storm and and the fantastic 4 (like he does with Tony and the avengers in the MCU), you'll see him doing naive things like trying to cash in a check without writing his name (homecoming vibe), there is no Mary Jane, Harry Osborne, or Gwen Stacy in the ditko era (same as MCU), his life has completely changed at the end of no way home like it kinda did at the end of issue 28, Uncle Ben is barely mentioned (once or twice) in the first 30 issues (exactly like the home trilogy). There are no real consequences in the ditko era during high school (there are no real Consequences in homecoming and far from home), Peter is a happy go lucky kid who enjoys being Spiderman and sometimes thinks irresponsibly because he's just a teenager (unlike the raimi movies and just like the MCU). Peter's identity was in crisis in issue 12 (and it was in crisis in the home trilogy). The high school and friends interactions are heavily emphasized in the ditko comics (unlike the raimi and Webb movies and just like in the MCU). The things the MCU made different from the comics have a very good reason to, like making Tony stark build him the suit (a story telling tool that shows the evolution of Peter Parker until he makes his own suit, highlighting the growth and maturity of the character) Aunt May has a way more satisfying arc in the MCU than she did in the comics (by making her younger and more important to Peter). Peter having EDITH (to emphasize Peter's terrible luck in no way home and to be used by mysterio to frame him just like in the comics). So it’s sad that the most comic accurate Spider-Man we ever got is the most hated and the most underrated :(
@Warfox What makes Spider-Man great is his evolution, look at how he started out in civil war and homecoming, and look at where his now. That’s exactly how it was in Stan Lee’s original run. Like at how Spider-Man is in issues 1-4 and look at how he is in issue 34. Then look at how he is in issue 50. Tremendous character development. It’s as if he is a different person. And the MCU emulated that perfectly with the wall crawler. Fans will ruin the Spider-Man character if they controlled him. Spider-Man is not for all people. Most people are dumb and bullies. Spider-Man is for bully victims, Spider-Man is for people who constantly get misunderstood, Spider-Man is for people who might accidentally lose their nerves and then people exaggeratedly judges them. That’s how MCU Peter is like, a frustrated kid who life constantly shuts down, and screws things up more than he saves things, and is being judged negatively by everyone…from iron man himself to J Jonah Jameson to the public. And fans say “he’s iron man jr” fans are so unbelievably dumb.
@Warfox I don't care that he's a tech character I care that he has to ride off of someone else. Spiderman has always been a one man band besides the casual team ups. He doesn't make cool qips anymore he makes stupid pop-culture references I don't know if you know this but we kids AREN'T ACTUALLY LIKE THAT. They took away his common sense something that he usually has, spiderman is supposed to be some type of child prodigy Edit:I feel that Mcu spiderman is at his best when there is no iron man involved he only ever made pop-culter references around him and his whole entire personality seems to revolve around tony when he's around I liked the last mcu 2 spiderman movies honestly but the first one and spiderman's first introduction not my vibe.
You say the back symbol looks like a child drew it despite the fact that the back symbol is straight up taken from the original comics and is used pretty much to this day in the comics (Tobey maguire fan here btw)
@Rocky Montana Garcia mayne deadass I like it more than the actual spider designs on the back, I’m fine with whatever is on the front but i like the simplistic back logo more because Spiderman is supposed to look goofy no matter how cool we think he is, i mean it’s a nigga in a leotard who sewed his own suit
See I always related to Bruce Banner as a kid and I still do,especially the 2003 Hulk version, he was a reserved, quiet and intelligent man who never threw a punch at anyone and bottled his anger and sadness so deep within himself that if he were ever to let it out it would be catastrophic and watching the Hulk was like that euphoric feeling of release of turmoil and anger I wish I was able to let out like Bruce Banner had.
I think we had that Bruce Banner with Edward Norton. While I did like MCU very much in gral. the only big change I would have made was keeping Edward Norton instead of Mark Rufalo
Dead!? Oh snap I thought you cobained yourself and slit a new breathing hole in your esophagus? Also didn't know you were a nerd like that? I thought you just like playing with decomposing animals and burying your clothes?
Tom Holland Spider-Man is THE worst spider-man to ever show up on the big screens. The 2018 game had a MUCH better take on Spider-Man, Yuri Lowenthal did an amazing job with the character.
The big difference between mcu and other versions in terms of jokes (comics included) is that all the other Spider-Men joke at someone else's expense. They joke in-universe to annoy/tease someone. The mcu version doesn't really joke he gets himself into funny situations often being the butt of the jokes with no self-reflection. These jokes are made for the audience and not the characters.
@@aqua6166 well I mean those ones are when they changed a character correctly because if I was honest Thor previously to me was a legit soulless one dimensional character. Ragnarok did him best where he was a little goofy but still portrayed his serious unless u mentioning love and thunder then I agree. Hulk I 100% agree with
Spider-man has always been a very independent character. He’s never had to, or wanted to rely on Stark or the Avengers. Hell, alot of the time he would kinda dislike them for how they handled things. Comics Peter was a loner when he was in that suit, but this one is the exact opposite. When you make a depressed introvert an energetic extrovert, you’re adapting your material wrong
@ANTARIKSH CHOUDHURY the ultimate line of marvel comics was horrid trash. Wolverine was a pedo, scarlet witch and quicksilver were banging each other, and the way that universe ended was catastrophic, i could go on for days. Mj was horrible in the mcu, Zendaya plays the same girl in every role, she is basically rue from euphoria without the drug addiction, the same “quirky and unique” personality.
You are appealing to the comics instead of paying attention to the interpretations writing. This is the issue everyone has and it’s idiotic. Most of the comics suck. Hot take, but it’s true
I had a hard time relating to tom's spider man who obessed or closely simps to an old billionaire. No responsibilty, no consequences, and relying on stark tech. He never really feel like spider man or a true superhero. Im so glad no way home finally fixed it
Yeah and guess what? The civil war arc in the comics isn’t really looked back on too fondly. It’s been 15+ years since that event and a lot of the complaints fans had are still relevant.
No way home was garbage! Since when did Ned need so much involvement!? Tom is just iron man jr. He isn’t that smart since he attributes to his own problems in this trilogy.
MCU Peter is smart and capable on his own and after No Way Home all of his connections to others have been erased so he'll be on his own from now on, which seems to be what the ones who hate the MCU version want.
@@onesaucynougat7471 facts. It kinda annoys me. Not that I'm not happy people like Andrews Spidey now but honestly, TASM was a soft take on Ultimate Spider-Man, Tobey was moreso a take on Stan Lee's Spidey from the 60s, I knew that when I first saw The Amazing Spider-Man because Ultimate Spider-Man was the first comic I read. Granted many people don't read comics lol

@@josiahfinks8098 honestly I'm fine with Ned and MJ. Like I'm aware that Mary Jane in the Tobi movies is a manipulating b%tch. But at least you get a scene on why Peter was attracted to her. But with the MCU it felt like a vague teenage crush.
The problem with MCU Peter Parker is that we barely ever see him as *just* Spider-Man. His best showing was in Civil War where we see RU-vid clips of him on patrol. After that, everything he does ties back to Tony Stark. When he isn't trying to impress or become Iron Dad, he is completely beholden to his technology.
@@emmanuelojurongbe2469Shut Up Clown 🤡, Tobey Maguire Spiderman is just way more Relatable than the Comics Version even I am both Marvel and DC Comics fan I must admit that
Stan Lee created Spider-Man as an anti-thesis to other 15-year old super heroes. Whereas they were always sidekicks to adult super heroes, Stan Lee made Spider-Man his own man who made his own costume and web-shooters. Besides the occasional team up to boost sales, Spider-Man never needed mentors or sidekicks. That is until the MCU decided to turn Peter Parker into a typical Gen Z kid who worships Steve Jobs and Elon Musk-like tech moguls and made him a pathetic Tony Stark fanboy ("Yes, Mr. Stark. No, Mr. Stark"). Tony basically tells Peter that if he wants to be a serious super hero, he NEEDS to upgrade to a Stark tech Spider-Man suit and web-shooters. This is why i don't like Holland's Spider-Man; he is basically Iron Spider and too dependent on Tony Stark. In defense of the "childish" spider symbol; this is actually how John Romita designed and drew the original Spider-Man costume and it has been drawn like that in both the comics and cartoons for decades. It actually IS iconic, unlike the modern spider designs you praise so much. Also, Peter Parker became Spider-Man when he was just 15, so Tom Holland is not too young, Maguire and Garfield are too old. This is exactly my problem with people who only watch comic book movies and shows while never having read the actual comic books (as REAL fans would): They always complain about things that are actually correct.
That's the best comment here. Dude's whole video is based on nostalgia, his obvious hatred towards Tom as an actor or a person or idk and he has ZERO comic book knowledge. The only argument that could be valid is the Tony Stark hardcore influence over those 3 movies. Thank god they fixed it at the end of NWH.. hopefully we will see some real Spidey next time.
True Peter Parker was only 15 but he was also very nerdy and almost a boy genius something I never got from Tom same with Maguire and Andrew I very much like them all for different reasons I also think it was a very bad idea to have Spiderman be a sidekick to Tony that was just lazy writing trying to make Tony the center of all mcu which I hated as well lol.
I think people forget that Spider-Man in the comic books idolized the Fantastic Four like MCU Spider-Man idolized Iron Man. Just like in the issue #3 of The Amazing Spider-Man Peter talked about how the Human Torcj wouldn't have failed against Doc Ock and then the Human Torch changes his perspective and tells him that he isn't so good as Peter thinks and he has his insecurities too; note that Far From Home mirrored this in the scene with the talk Happy gave to Peter I highly recommend this video that gets deeper about how good this trilogy adaptates the highschool era of Spider-Man in the comics
@@oa-san53 But the thing is Peter didn't idolize the Fantastic 4 or the Avengers in the Mcu he Idolized Tony Stark and Ironman helping him out almost every single time did help things.
I actually thought Tom Holland was fine. He's not my favorite, but I didn't think he was bad. A lot of these issues come down to subjective issues you take with the character. Your first one being that he's a kid? I mean, in the comics AND in the Toby McGuire movies he was a high school student starting out, ya know? Why can't he look and sound like one? (lord knows Toby didn't look much like he was in high school in the first movie) And as for the heroes talking down to him, well yes...because he's inexperienced and he's walking into a world he barely understands. That was the character arc for the hero: A young kid who dreams of being on par with the Avengers but is a rookie and needs to learn to not only handle his powers, but also learn what it means to be someone who can stand among giants. The David learning how to face Goliath. He makes mistakes. He makes poor choices. He has to suffer for them. But by No Way Home, he actually finishes his character story arc and comes into his own as a hero. The way you talk about it, I have to wonder...what if a teenage boy in high school DID get superpowers and wanted to be a superhero? Would you say he couldn't because he was too young and superhero work is an adult thing, only reserved for people over 21? You have to be old enough to drink to fight crime? XD
I agree with a lot of the things you had to say in the video about Tobey and Andrew, and I totally agree that they made Tom spider-man an ironman mini. HOWEVER, No Way Home did kind of go over a lot of things you didn't like, aunt may not having an emotional impact, or peter having too much high-tech stuff making him a mini ironman. peter is forgotten, which means it's no longer possible for him to wear his iron spider suit as no technology remembers him anymore. Now he has to start from the beginning in a shitty apartment and sew his own suits again and become the crime-fighting, wise-cracking, now older more experienced legend we all know him to be rather than relying on tony stark. He basically gets a new start and we'll get to see him as we see the other spider-men now that no one knows spider-man is a kid.
Thing about Aunt May tho, her death just didn't hit. Because we really had no precursor to show their previous relationship, I just didn't feel like a part of Peter died when Aunt May did, in that movie.
@@ethanlee8307 true, her death was sad, but it didn’t feel detrimentally sad. I agree if they had done more bonding or important things together more than just “sexualizing” her every movie, it would have been much more impactful.
I disagree about aunt May I think her real problem is it she's nothing like aunt may at all mean I'm all for different interpretations but I'm also a big believer in character consistency.
@@jacobfilasky2729 and that’s spiderman fault like can’t control that? Vulture motivations has nothing to do with tony stark, mysterio was mad at tony but his plan was for the world to know him
Homecoming is one of my favorite MCU movies for a few reasons. Peter in this one is an actual friendly neighborhood spider-man, helping old ladies with directions, stopping bike thieves, and the villain is a down on his luck construction worker dealt a shitty hand who just wants the best for his family. Peter also saves the day with his homemade suit and not the Tony suit. Far from home and no way home lean way too much into the typical MCU spectacle where as homecoming is more grounded and realistic. Granted it’s not a perfect movie, I don’t like how much iron man influences the story in a spider-man movie.
Same , even though it’s not perfect I will defend homecoming with my life lol Peter In that movie is young and naive but he never comes off like an idiot he just comes off like he’s in way too over his head but it works because by the end he’s humbled
First Peter isn’t IronMan in Far From Home this video is obviously so pointless asf lol, also he never used any tech against his villains, he used his smartness and techniques against Mysterio and even in No Way Home he took on Otto and the rest of the villains.
Sam rami's aunt may litterally is half the reason that peter was able to convince doc ock to see the error of his ways. Without her in the second movie there would be no return of spiderman and doc ock wouldve won because he was the one that knew how to defeat the self sustaining fusion. How the hell is the mcu aunt may in anyway better than that.
I feel the same way about him looking way too young, I didn't notice it at first until I noticed what they did to Peter's face in the Miles Morales game where in the first one, he looked normal, but now he looks like a Ken Barbie doll, it's super off putting and now it's hard to look at his face whenever I see him in the MCU
"Who says a kid can't play Spider-Man". Uhhhh... Nobody. Because Spider-Man is a teen in the comics. Maguire and Garfields versions of Spider-Man weren't good because they were played by adults when the role is for teens.
Lol what? he's barely ever a teen. All his exciting stories and side characters like jjj are when he's an adult, and marriage with mj are as an adult. I have tons of Spiderman comics from when I was a kid, he's an adult.
Yes, but does that still detract from what he said? His main point was this versions web swinging scenes was lacking. Whether he had web wings or not in the comics is irrelevant. His main point was that the web swinging scenes were not on par with previous movies
I’m in the same boat as you. They should have just had him play a version of Spider-Man the age of the actor . He just was legit street level under the radar. Sad how much they sonned him in MCU and made the original final suits being all thanks to tony stark
Nice video 👍🏻👍🏻💯 you should’ve brought up the fact of them not redoing the green goblin and using the real Mary Jane watson name and dying her hair red and bring Norman and harry osborn .. it should’ve been like that and he could’ve built up to be part of the avengers but still being a solo act .
While i agree with alot of his points, this video still seems to be heavily nostalgic based. The whole video, hes complaining about how peter is this and that while yes, its true, but he's not meant to be like the other 2. which is basically what he wants tom's spider man to be. He wants him to be generic and basic and almost a copy of the other two. And im pretty sure they're whole thing to make peter stupid on purpose is the whole point. Given how we have the multiverse, this is the universe in which peter is just plain dumb. They wanted him to be different from the other spider men and not be copy and pasted with a few minor changes. And that's what i like about this spider man. Although i do like Andrew's better, i wouldn't go as far as to call Tom's spider man awful and shit. But that's just my take. Whoever sees this, feel free to agree or disagree.
The problem is he isn’t different. He’s like a copypasta of the last Spider-Man but somewhere alonn the way they took out a lot of his core and got him only on his suit and supporting characters. He’s really bland and generic and if you put him in a random hero costume and say all the same things and do the same things he does, you can’t really say hey that’s Spider-Man
@@Sodamuhchine he’s really dumb, trust me, I was younger than him when civil war came out, and I can guarantee I wouldn’t do HALF the dumb stuff he does.
the issue is that he kinda is a copy and paste but not of peter parker he is damn near what miles morales originally was before he got any character development. constantly looking up to other characters and being looked down on by others they turned ned into ganke and little to no character motivation until much later on. he is just a early white miles morales 😂 (funnily enough people complained miles was the opposite before he became a real character)
I think the best moment in his films, is his acceptance of being Spiderman and letting his old life disappear, unfortunately this might be the last appearance so...
The first superhero movie I ever saw was Tobey Maguires Spider-Man 1 and he’s my favourite spider-man since he sticks with canon and an amazing actor and the story for spider-man was the best in my opinion and Andrew Garfield in my opinion is the second best for the sticking with comics like Tobey’s movies
Tom is only the “worst” Spider-Man cuz of writing. Marvel has never failed when it comes to casting and Tom is no exception. He has the potential to be the best Spider-Man. But for some reason Disney thought it would be a good idea to dumb him down to a Disney movie with a Marvel logo slapped on it. Instead of taking this complex character more seriously. They added in ridiculous things like Stark Tech which is just not Spider-Man. After watching NWH tho, that ending really has me thinking Tom might finally start moving in the direction of the classic Spider-Man we know and love
I'm glad you point out that the MCU flash Thompson is just a pipsqueak. Flash NEEDS to be a big jock. The whole reason he's even called Flash in comics is cause in high school he played for the football team and was "the fastest player. So fast, he'd be at the other end of the field in a flash when he had the ball". MCU Flash doesn't look like he could even lift a football without ripping a fat one in his pants
amazing video (pun intended). really grateful for this, as you expressed EXACTLY what so many spider man fans where thinking and feeling about this new era of big screen spidey. A+
I'd say No Way Home is now making Peter more independant as all of his connections have been erased and he's all on his own now, which seems to be what the ones who hate the MCU version of Spider-Man want.
@@dragonboy99 If you mean that the MCU is only repeating itself, then I disagree. @@dragonboy99 They wanted to put a different spin to Peter Parker and Spider-Man as everyone is already familiar with his origin and the overall story as well as connecting him to the other characters. @Erik Kemeey it's more than that the mcu spiderman feels more like a sidekick than an actual hero, also he seems like a major superhero fan boy trying to impress Tony stark, this isn't peter parker this is miles morales, the characters aren't portrayed right with aunt may being young and hot, mj renamed to Michelle Jones rather than Mary Jane, flash thompson not being a jock and honestly looks like a bigger nerd than peter himself, and ned leeds and peter parker were never friends, Harry Osborn was Peter's best friend
@Erik Kemeey you're probably one of those people who only like tom holland's spiderman just because he's in the mcu if it was this same spiderman in his own universe you wouldn't like so much
@Erik Kemeey being young is important but its not the only thing to work sure he stopped the vulture by himself and cares about his friends but it seems like he's trying to be the next iron man we dont need that spiderman is fine just as himself
Wait did you seriously shit on the Spider Logos of the suit and non-raised webs when they're straight from the comics? Are you fucking kidding me? Spider-Man's movie costumes have honestly ruined peoples thoughts on how Spidey should look. His costume should look simple and cheaply made in no universe would it be realistic that money struggling Pete would be able to make the Toby or Andrew suits.
Kinda feel like this guy doesn't really like the comic book spidey. I feel him on tom feeling like he's never going to grow into the adult spider-man of the 70s onward but bruh the fact that he hated on the first suit lets me know he's only a movie fan and wants every adaptation to be like the last. I personally wanted holland's spidey to be like the ultimate comics with the death scene but no he was uplifted by tony and didn't have any villains of his own really, honestly this guy's completely off base.
@Manopla Holland's suits don't look cheap at all, this dude unfairly called them cheap looking for not ripping off the Raimi or TASM suits. I think a perfect Spider-Suit would look like something a skilled Cosplayer would make and would take heavily from the comics instead of movie suits. Hollands suit is eh I'm not big on it but I hate that people shit on it for trying to be comic accurate instead of just ripping off the last five movies.
@@MrPikaGammer it's funny because spidey's suit has only looked cheap the first movie(wrestler) and the vigilante suit from tasm. Holland's hoodie suit had movie eye lenses so that knocks that one out just looks super hot.

too goddamn young Stan Lee said "I can't believe it. It's as if we created a living being to be Spider-Man, and it turned out to be Tom." Tom's Peter as opposed to Tobey or Andrew who were 17 to 20 during their movies. Tom is just 14 years old during Civil War. and is just 17 during No Way Home ending. He looks like a boy of that age of that age. Unlike Tobey and his class who were all guys in their late 30s playing "17 year olds", they literally all seemed to be the same age as their teacher. Tom and his class do look like young people between 14 and 17 years old, it is assumed that Spidey in his original comics was 15 years old when the spider bit him. Furthermore, the fact that the other heroes who are clearly older adults are reproaching a CHILD for things is nothing strange, even when it comes to Spider-Man. Spider-Man is not the mdf Batman, a serious man who leads the heroes. He's just a random guy like you and me and especially in this version, he's just a guy under 18 in a world with heroes who are in their 30s and 40s, it's common sense. Obviously when Peter grows up and is an adult he will stop being seen as a child and will be an equal to other heroes of his generation, literally this is what happens in the comics where he has had his problems with Ironman. We literally see a bit of this in NWH, we see Peter oppose Strange and confront him, in a fight of ideals in which Peter wins. Also, what kind of hypocritical argument is that? With that rule of 3, what the hell is the Raimiverse doing treating Peter Parker/Spider-Man, one of Marvel comics' greatest heroes, like an idiot? A fool who gets everything right wrong, he is unfaithful to his girlfriend and then they are unfaithful to him? a common loser? Where is the brilliant mind of Marvel and the Hero he should be? You never saw the movies, "in these movies they treat him like an Ironman apprentice." WTF?In Civil War Peter literally refuses to help Stark at all times, it is not until Tony messes with his aunt and tells him that he will tell him his secret that Peter decides to help him, he does not decide to go help him because "oh my god "If Stark I'm going to be like him," he does it for May. Of course, like any boy his age, he gets excited about the trip and the experience. In Homecoming Peter literally rejects Ironman and the Avengers to be his own hero, to be Spider-Man, not Ironman Jr. In Far From Home, after pressure from people, he feels that everyone places him as "the new Ironman", which confuses and stresses him because he doesn't know if that could be it. In the end Happy makes him remember the facts, he is not and will not be like Ironman, he must be Spider-Man, Peter reacts and makes a new suit. And in NWH there is literally no Stark influence whatsoever. Now, the suit, the design of the suit is really subjective. To be fair, Tom's is the one most attached to the comics, the web is supposed to be from the design of the suit, not a metal web that surrounds and protrudes from the entire suit like Raimi and Webb did. The difference in why everything goes wrong for Tom and not for the other 2. It's because he's only 14/15 years old. Tobey was 19 in his second film and Andrew was almost 20 years old. You cannot compare the effectiveness of a young man who is almost 20 years old with that of a child who is just entering puberty.
Everything about mcu Spider-Man is lame. He , his aunt and MJ. There is nothing there. Totally fake. Tom as an actor is ok but as a Spider-Man is a disappointment. Out of three my love to Spidey goes to Tobey and Sam Raimi.
So it’s sad that the most comic accurate Spider-Man we ever got is the most hated and the most underrated :(
@@omarmansour6766 Why are you in like every reply chain. Give it a rest with that annoying ass copy pasted paragraph. Good for Tom for being "comic accurate" but in the future I know that I never want a super by the books comic accurate Spiderman ever again if it's gonna be this insufferable to watch.
@@so_gushy If you think Stan Lee’s original characterization of the character is insufferable to watch, then you are as dumb as Stan Lee’s publisher back then who that Stan Lee’s ideas about Spider-Man are terrible. You’re a bully. What makes Spider-Man great is his evolution, look at how he started out in civil war and homecoming, and look at where his now.
Funnily enough, i can see your points, but I prefer his iron spider costume to the comics version (better than just red and gold, least for my color palette 😂)
I feel u Ya know what's my question? They cast a teen-looking guy to have Spiderman around as long as possible. Then they made him an Iron Man protege. For me that's fine, I don't like Spiderman, but that's besides the point. The point is, if this Spiderman is going to be some Ultimate Spiderman with all techno-gadgets and driving a company as a corporate CEO - so after all the casting a youngling for the role, positioning and stuff, why do they kick him out to replace him with Ironheart? Where's the business-rationality in this? Especialy, no matter how much I don't like Spiderman, it IS their most profitable superhero, period.
Um...shouldn't the suit look home made though? That's the point, that Peter made his suit by hand. The Tobey and Andrew suits look more professional, at the cost of not looking like something Peter could actually make himself
I love how people like you bring this argument up. You do know there’s this thing called cosplay right. And several cosplayers on a limited budget can give you suits and designs a movie production can, sometimes they even do it better. Like I saw a fan years ago that made a life size 7ft tall Apocalypse from X-Men costume. The whole “Tobey and Andrew’s look like something a professional would make” argument is kinda moot with the existence of cosplay in real world. It’s really not that hard to believe a 17 year old can make a suit like Tobey, because guess what?? Go online and you’ll find vids of teens doing just that.
@@Fakequeenie him being in highschool is generally new in terms of movies. Tobey graduated in like the first 30 minutes of the 1st film. And Andrew graduated in the 2nd. To say it was repetitive is just blatantly wrong lol
While I do agree.. he gave his reasons for why his age is odd.. 1) in a world where he is the youngest hero. Making him the one to look down on 2) bc he's looked down on.. it kinda ruin the Spidermam view from our side of the world. Spiderman is king of MC. So seeing this kid, whose in the shadows of other heroes.. is kinda a disservice to the character. He's supposed to have something the rest of the mcu characters don't. A well rough relatable, super altruistic Life. Standards like captain America but more influential in New York.
@@xpflowexclusive4313 I would kinda agree with his points if Ultimate spider-man would not exist, this is the prime example that Peter living in a World of héroes already grow up works, he is not doing that to look cool or to get a long with the other héroes he is spider-man because is the right thing to do.
15:57 I think this can be explained by time. Bullies aren’t stereotypical big hulking foot ball players anymore. There were a lot of bullies in my school that looked kinda goofy. It’s not about your physical appearance but the confidence you emit.
But Flash thompson wasn't the goofy small version of a bully. THe character was celarly defined. Let the character remain the chracters.....that waht made them good in the first place. The line of thinking that you can just change and replace characters on a whim is why modern entertainment sucks. Flash is supposed to be intimidating. The kid in the movies is just annoying...little more than a troll. It changes the whole dynamic and frankly makes the story less engaging.
ok but flash thompson wanst a stereotypical big hulking foot ball player, he was a character who started like that and evolved and redemeed himself to the point he went to war and became friends with peter, rewriting his character to be more relatable to todays bullies is stupid as he already is a defined character
@@panhoca7838 making it so being a bully in current times makes it dumb because his character was already defined? What? If his character was already defined then the purpose of the character should be that, not how he looks or that he isn’t shoving Peter in lockers and dumping his face in his own food. That just makes him more relatable for the people currently in school experiencing these types of bullies, he can still become a friend of Peter even if he isn’t a hulking jock
@@invert8505 but that isnt who flash is and what he does, sure he still bullies peter but he is a totally different character, its the same if we made batman a cop instead of a superhero because its more relatable, flash thompson was always made to be dumb and strong to paralel peter because peter is smart and weak, making flash thompson's bullying really soft and making him weak defeats the whole idea of both's character relationship and history
Mad respect my guy, hit the nail on the f'n head man. Loved the video, excellent points, and even though I don't dislike Tom quite as much as you do he is definitely my least favorite Spider-Man. Great work and way to have the stones to put out this video considering Tom's popularity.
Spider-Man is nothing like Iron Man and the reason why the iron spider suit looks like an Iron Man suit is because in the comic book Iron Man gave Spider-Man the iron spider suit.
By the end of the video your saying Tom Holland's spiderman suit is the most comic accurate. I disagree. Because despite Toby's and Andrew's suits looking like they're made of cool fabrics and their logos have a cool sharp design, those versions are more closer to classic spiderman than Tom Holland's. Sure Tom makes a new suit by the end of No Way Home that's a complete nod to the comics but it doesn't impress me with its visuals. Even PS1 games had Spiderman looking cool. Granted the first game missed the web lines. But the second showed how much better Spidey was becoming.
@@JayX2099YT Spoilers: In the behind the scenes for the movie they confirm its a reference to one of Peter's earliest suits in the comics. Not that it looks to good as we see it for only a few seconds in the end of the film.
*This is interesting, as a Spider-Man fanatic that has read the comic books played all the video games watched all the films I can definitely agree on a lot of the points he makes in this video but I honestly feel like I think the mcu's version of Spider-Man can hold up on its own as a new reimagining of Spider-Man but at the same time I can completely agree with the points that he makes in this video and it's really interesting because I have conflicting opinions when it comes to this subject on who is the best Spider-Man*
He’s white Mile Morales, Ganke, walking in a deceased, better heroes footsteps, being looked down on his his age and inexperience. I feel like the MCU writers read Ultimate Spider-Man to get the basis of his character and accidentally got a Miles comic.
For me Tom Holland is worst for spiderman and then people started rumour that he will play Ben Tennyson. I don't want him as ben 10 he already ruined spiderman for me
I found it odd in No Way Home how reckless Peter Parker was. The entire conflict was basically caused by his decisions. It was a good movie but only for fan service and not much else
Wasn’t even good fanservice. I hated how they made bad jokes about genuinely important plot moment in previous, better movies. For example: when they made a joke about Harry’s death, I actually wanted to tear my hair out. You DON’T make jokes about the depressing death of the protagonist’s best friend!
The entire trilogy of Tom Hollands Spider-Man movies was basically just his origin story, at the end of Spider-Man No way home we finally see a more adult Peter, who’s got his own apartment and is now making his own suits without all that super high tech stuff.
Tom Holland has never been my favorite spiderman in fact before no way home he was my least favorite out of three and it boiled down to two thing Tom's Peter didn't feel like spiderman to me, and when is he going to have his own villains. After No way home Tom's spiderman and Peter Parker has grown on me and I like him a lot more even though I still have the same frustration with the character and how it's written
Obviously a cinematic fan of Spider-Man who has no knowledge of comic book Spider-Man and that's cool. Not everyone has to have knowledge of the comic book lore of Spider-Man and you're entitled to your opinion
@@GoulaLegamer Oh, I didn't realize that the guy who made this video was going to be making the next Spider-Man film. In that case, you're correct. I thought he was just a fan giving his opinion on what he personally felt was wrong with the Holland version of Spider-Man
I find it hilarious you call Mary Jane and Peters relationship iconic because she was a c*** to him in all three movies.. she continually manipulated him like constantly
Like when? she straight up gave up a life of riches with an attractive guy, not just once, but twice all for a broke nerd who kept playing with her feelings then claiming to not love her. Then he slaps her, then does their kiss with another woman in front of her, yet she still takes him back. Mj is the most committed woman to a man she loves that I've ever seen. Sure she was not committed to the other men. But she was a dream girlfriend to Peter.
@@thecensoredmuscle563 many people don't continually manipulate and treat the other person like s***which yeah he didn't mess up with that kiss but literally when he slapped her he was being controlled by f****** venom
well peter holland is accurately young like in the comic books while Tobey and Andrew where near their 30s and still looked like teenagers, But at least they were both independent unlike Tom who always relied on Tony.
I don't like his spider-man too but the thing about the logo on the back of the suit is most comic accurate. also peter parker is kid in comics it was just sam raimi thing to graduate him so tobey maguire wouldn't look too old for highschool
People who say Spiderman is supposed to be a kid/teenager forget he is an advanced teenager in college. That was how he was able to work with Dr. Connors on genetic recombination. Also, once in the costume, Spiderman is bossy and bullish, that no one can tell it is a young man under the mask. He sounds just like an adult and gets on J.J. and Eddie Brock's nerve.
This Spiderman is the worst because Holland's Spiderman has help from Tony Stark in the form of his suit. Has Tony to mentor him. Has Stark to clean up his mess. Both Tobey and Andrew's Spidermen were on their own, they had to find their own way. That makes them stronger, and more compelling. Holland's Spiderman will always be the Spiderman who got a boost to fame, instead of earning it.
The Spider-Man suit cannot remain constant with the MCU universe. In order for Spider-Man to be in phase 4 and phase 5 you must give him more Powers than what he had in the comic books or he will become irrelevant. Just like blade. You have to keep up with the multiverse. I was only a fan of Spider-Man when I was young so either way I don't care but your general neighborhood Spider-Man cannot compete in the multiverse.
I may be a couple years late for this video but I’m glad I’m not alone! What really ruins it is the fandom in general because every time I bring up the issues of the Tom Holland version I’m usually greeted with responses about how he’s the most “comic” accurate mainly because he’s a high schooler and the way his eyes on the mask move! Plus their comparisons of Maguire and Garfield now it’s like all of sudden I’m a being called a hater because I don’t like the MCU Spiderman movies in comparison with the other 5 movies!
You are just wrong and I don’t even need to hear the arguments and then after hearing the arguments I knew for a fact you were wrong. This is like every other Tom Holland Spider-Man hate fest which do not put into perspective that this isn’t the same character as the other two. Your arguments don’t take into account how the Spider-Man 2 ruined Tobey’s Spider-Man or how Amazing Spider-Man is just garbage. Tom Holland has been the only consistent and well-written Spider-Man we have seen. And as always you have to bring up nostalgia and nostalgia has nothing to do with the writing of MCU Spider-Man. Your arguments are just awful man, please at least try and be objective. Also what the hell is wrong with the kid being looked down upon. He isn’t established like the others. Also, you have the Ironman arguments which doesn’t work. He is a kid recruited by Tony and Tony makes it very clear that he believes he will be better than him with or without the tech. As always someone says Iron boy Jr and it’s simply wrong based off of the character’s differing personality and they aren’t making him Ironman. I hate using the nitpicking argument but this is a video with nothing but nitpicks and horrendous arguments. I’m sorry but you are terrible at your job.
I respect your opinion, I came across this video since I was looking up peoples opinions on him as Spider-Man. I am actually writing a piece on why I think he is the best. Before I do I will definitely look at some more opinions and their reasoning behind it.

I find it crazy that the brief love interest with Liz was actually a bit more convincing then Mecelle Jones. I feel things could have been better if they stuck with Liz
