I have wants, needs, and family outside of him. Then other things. Dating... he served me. If I wanted to go skiing or see a concert, we budgeted and planned it out to make it happen in 4 months. He called me daily to ask about my day and even got me a book I wanted. He was as broke as me working at walmart. Living together, and it's knowing how little I matter after his goal is met. I obeyed, never argued, never cursed, never drank alcohol, stopped asking for things I wanted, stopped expressing my feelings good or bad, and I apologized for something daily. It was boring just work and more work at home because the house needs to be cleaned and the family fed. I had high anxiety about offending my husband. Then, a mental escape with a tv stuck on local channels. He dumped me for someone else after 8 years married. It's when I did not take him back that he actually respected me. I am taking care of myself. I have friends and family to rely on. I have great kids out of the marriage. I got a mortgage. I have my mom begging to see the kids more, my former inlaws, and their dad gets the kids 4 days a month. I can enjoy the kids and not feel burdened by them. If genders are better apart and so be it.
