Brett Lasala ran Sick Week, logged 1,000 street miles and made 2500rwhp+ on an Oem predator block, oem Voodoo heads, and oem Coyote crank. Avg 6.7 @ 212 with a best of 6.52 @ 216 on 275 radials..... John Mihovetz has gone 5.88 @ 250mph on a prepped OEM cast block and heads 4.6 4V. Made over 3 000 hp from 281 in³ MkII Motorsports holds the standing mile world record @ 300.4 mph on an oem block and heads 5.4L and is near 3 000 hp. Vipers are overrated
@@chadkent1241 too much horsepower doesn't kill cars nearly as much as too much torque does. A stock viper block making 3000hp and a stock Coyote block making 3000hp have WAYYYY different torque curves.
Just bought a Gen 3. Red, 2005 30k miles. Installed Full headers and exhaust - a short shifter, all the fluids, new tires and brakes. The power, handling, looks and sound turns heads everywhere. It is really a fun car and it’s an absolute rocket
Great ACCURATE information… sooo many people screw up the Lamborghini casting part! The rest was developed with Yamaha… also why does the viper community go crazy for the gen 2 cars 🤔.
Because the gen 1 cars actively tried to kill its owner.. Edit.. When those cars first came out I was deep into the street racing scene very seldom did somebody bring out a viper and the car made it home at the end of the night..
Because the gen 2 GTS is absolutely beautiful and has timeless design/lines. There's a reason so many car enthusiasts in that era had a poster of the classic B&W Viper GTS!
Carrol Shelby's focus on making the car a bathtub powered by a nuke is what makes it so iconic. The original car is still unbelievably competitive with a VERY competent driver
The 2000+ engines can still be boosted, you just stop around 750rwhp. Concerning your Viper tax, that's pretty much the body itself. The engine parts are fairly inexpensive as long as you know how to shop. The older interiors weren't that bad. They didn't fall apart like C4 and C5 Corvettes did.
@@macattack9041 yes, and so is the interior on my 97 mustang cobra but not all people care for their cars the same way. gm interiors have a bad habit of not staying together after youve taken them apart once. they also tend to squeak and rattle a lot, not just because its older either.
@@OxBlitzkriegxOso modify them, its not that bad figuring out different/better ways to fasten things..the factory isn't always looking out for you long term. Plus you can put in foam or some other sort of material to absorb any rattles etc at the same time.
I use to work @ Viper I remember the warehouse being full of Gen 5s before the release date had to be 75-80 Vipers. GTS blue and Stryker Red. Still hard to believe they built this iconic supercar on Conner Ave in Detroit, Mi right in the middle of the hood.
Another very innovative and unique feature to the viper V 10 is the split cam shaft on the last generation. These movable cam within a cam allowed variable valve overlap along with valve timing. To my knowledge there is no other car that has that feature
I’ve been putting the start of production rather than “model year” for the viper. For example the SRT viper is a 2013 Model year that started production in 2012. I’ll start using the model years from now on
@@ronnieboucherthecrystalcraftsm he's joking and it's a meme. That greasy hair bad complexion Redditor trying to correct everyone starting their comment with "actually".
I dont see why people would want to boost such a beautiful engine. I think thats what makes these cars so special the fact that it is N/A.I feel the same way bout the 392 as well. Not everything need to be boosted IMO. Dope vid though bro !
Boost is awesome, but I also have a great appreciation for naturally aspirated v8s! I cant wait till he makes a video about the m156- the N/A 6.2L v8 mercedes threw in a lot of their AMG 63 models around 2010ish
I agree agree completely. Its refreshing to see someone share that thought, as not many do. I'm fairly young (under 30) and an active member of my local car community, and not many people agree with your statement, especially people around my age or younger. There really is something about the feeling of a naturally aspirated engine, be it a four cylinder, all the way up to a twelve, and I've been lucky enough to have driven quite a few. Anything from BMWs, to Jags, to Lamborghinis, to Corvettes and Mustangs. Unfortunately, I can't say I've ever driven a Viper, but I would absolutely love to.
First time I saw a first generation do a launch on a red lights, my jaws literally fell to the grounds !!!! Never saw anything has violent as this, I know tires are really really wide and hook to the grounds, but never imagined it was gonna leave this effect in my brains, and remember this was before all electronics devices that make a beast easy to control, now with all this you could sit a chimp in a modern car and he would do a great 1/4 miles times, back then the car literally was fighting you like a mad bulls who didn’t want to play with you, my reaction has I saw it leave the corner street, it didn’t look like it was accelerating !? it looked has if it already had a swing ! Like it was already coming from, and not completely stopped, it gave me the impression has if a big fictional hand had just throw away the car, and my eyes didn’t catch and only saw from the car leaving the line. Very very impressed by this car back then. 😍😍😍
Yeah they have very similar proportions and the 250 GTO is widely considered one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Mid engined cars will just never have those heroic and beautiful proportions like a well designed front engined beast like a Viper.
@@matrinezkevin11492 funny you mentioned that, i saw some pictures of a mid-engined viper concept that Dodge apparently flirted with the idea of making, but never did. It looks pretty cool actually, but i like the original better.
Man!! Those GTS coupes look SOOOO damn good. Classic, sexy lines. Insane( but not really) how much power they can make when you combine huge displacement ( built engine) with boost pressure. Always loved the huge tires these have too..from the back the feel like the gen 1 GTS is perfection but if I had to own one I'd pick a gen 5 coupe all day.
You should talk about the 4.3 L V6 it was in the fastest trucks / SUVs on the road for many years and they are 350 Chevy engines with 2 less cylinders!
@@jahosaphet05 they could make wild NA power but then boosted with say 9 pounds you’ll need wheelie bars, roll cage and insane suspension setup. Used to go down Sac Speedway in my S10 4.3 NA
I used to live down the road from the OG Hennessy Viper that was on the cover of Motor Trend. 1000hp naturally aspirated, the sound was actually scary. It didn't roar like the stock Viper. It screamed like a street bike. A V10 street bike.
How about do a video on the 1UZFE, that was originally designed for F1 racing with over a billion dollars of research put into it capable of putting a million miles on it without a rebuild and can take boost for days..👌
Great and informative video! I've always been a fanboy of the early GTS models when I was growing up. Also didn't know it holds the manual production car record around the ring. Very cool. Thanks for posting 🤘
Awesome video as always my dude! It would be dope to see a video about the 5.2 & 5.9 magnum v8 that was in the second gen rams and of the era mopars. Another engine that would be awesome to see you do a video on would be the m156 mercedes 6.2L N/A v8 that was in alot of the amg 63 models around 2010ish. Thanks for making sick videos man, keep it up!
This gotta be one of my top favorite channels already!! Very informative! And im learnin so much thru these lil videos! Much respect 4 puttin out these truth bomb vids!!! 💪🏿💪🏿
Best damn non-biased reviews and info I've ever heard or seen. I've learned more in the last couple of hours than in the last 10 years. I'm definitely subscribed. Cheers & hope y'all had a great fourth of Julie 😉.
6:30 The point about the piston ring gap from a NA engine is moot though. If you are going from NA to turbo you should be gapping the rings regardless. I don't think there is an NA motor you can slap a turbo and a ton of boost in and not have to worry about ring gap.
Great overview of the platform! I've been in the Viper community for many years now and it certainly is a select group of owners but I view that as a good thing. Also to note, shops like Calvo and Nth Moto have massaged upwards of 3K WHP out of the Gen5 blocks and Calvo is working on a billet block to shoot for the moon. Also shout out to my friend Ryan L of who's car was used in the Calvo Viper clips.
awesome video! I would want to see more videos on older engines like the chevy 350, ponitac 400, buick 455, Also maybe some japanese hero engines, 2j, rb, sr, kpower. Anyway keep up the amazing work!
Subbed bro, so straightforward and contains a lot of info! And it’s entertaining As heck Also have you done anything on Honda’s K motor or the F series in the S2K? If you have, I’d love if someone could link that or I’ll find it myself, thanks in advance!
You should do a Honda J-Series V6 video. We specialize in Honda Jseries Performance (HalferLand Performance) and have some videos of our 06' Accord Coupe 6spd making 550whp/460wtq on just 8psi. Even just at 550whp we have gone to finals and semi finals for Street Car Takeover verse Hellcat Red-eyes, Boosted Lambos etc . Stock form they can hold max 600whp and come with forged Cranks, forged Rods (forged to reduce mass not for strength, 600whp is the limit) and cast but stout pistons (some have made 600-800hp with them by just Tweeks to the ring gap, but we advise an upgrade for prolonged 500+ engines. We added our HalferLand Hyper/Semi forged Pistons, HalferLand 1000hp Rods, Stock J35a7 Block, Stock Crank and our custom Turbo kit...and now have over 40k miles on that setup with zero issues at 550whp. Theres some J's out there making well into the 1000's with stock block and crank. The engines also came in damn near everything Honda/Acura Released so their availability is too notch (CL, TL, TSX, MDX, Odyssey, Ridgeline, Accord, Pilot, etc
Knew it, thought that voice sounded familiar. Never knew you were on YT. Your short videos have always been very informative, but you really kick it up a notch when you make ur longer ones. Great work!
"Not available but nost likely garbage"😂😂😂 the best! In my opinion when you say america its always the viper! Dodge to this day rocking the "good ole raw vibes" big power engine and 0 traction boats or racing cars with bigger engines and a manual! Engine i would like to see you feature...(mercedes M104-nissan TB48-toyota 1and 3UZs - theres the big block chevy LS engine idk the name of but its a vortec 8.1 engine i would love to see it and theres the older classic hemi engines)
hey can u do the UR engine generations from toyota, because i only hear small talks about it, idk man those things rocks with superchargers and i want to know how they actually get that power number. It'll be interesting bet ya.
This is my new favorite car RU-vid channel you are clearly spoken accurate information that I can understand at a speed that I can absorb. Basically it’s ADHD approved. May not mean much to some people but I love carsAnd I love to learn about them but not every channel explains it well enough thank you
Hey 337 Speed. Great video! It would be awesome to see you do a video on the supercharged 3.0 litre V6 Audi used in the S4 between 2010 and 2016…it was super bullet proof and took to mods extremely well. Bit of a unicorn engine too!
Always appreciated these but being in Australia they are very very limited. I have the vw v10 tdi touareg and can appreciate the v10 and always looking of tips n options of science. Thanks
