it’s like a meme already. junior role: Job min 3 years required. Me as boot camp grad, screw that, I’ll apply anyway! Amy spent 6 sec on my resume - rejected 😂😂😂
forgiveness denied ooof that burns 😉 I KNOW!!!! I need to dig into this entry level debacle. I need to research because it’s definitely got people fired up!
Hi Amy :) I really enjoy your videos. I've been binging them for the last few days. I was wondering, are those email helps you offer still active today? Don't want to bother you if it is something old and decomissioned....
Amy Miller ok ok, I will admit that job search tactic can be different depending on how urgently you’ve looking, and how actively you’re looking. I guess, networking with the people at the company that you want to work for + applying online and letting a contact person know that you have applied will help to combat those robots 🤖 lol 😂
Thank you sharing this information. Will check the BQs before making my resume. But, are there any other reasons besides this, for a resume to get rejected ?
Hi Amy, I applied to Google for early career SWE role. 2 recruiters rejected me for not having enough years of experience. Everyone says that Google hires new university grads on potential... and here I am getting rejected for lack of experience. I'm sad, devastated and depressed 😔. Please help!!!
@@AmyMiller Basically, I submitted an application online and emailed recruiters I found on LinkedIn who were specifically hiring for Early Career SWE roles ( they don't explicitly mention that they are from university hiring team). I'm graduating in 5 month.
for small mom and pop hr outfits like yours you may get to look at the persons resume but most job boards like indeed and monster or other online job boards you are going to be in the bot world and most hr people never see the resume your best chance of getting looked at is probably scammers list aka craigslist other than that good luck
I was a bit overwhelmed by the responses but I’ll get to them all!! Will double check and let you know if I don’t have yours. Hoping to finish them by the weekend
Does this mean if you want to change industries you are pretty much screwed? Person A has 10 YOE creating medical products, think insulin pumps and dialysis machines, but want to work on Autonomous Vehicles (AV). So person A now needs to do side projects in AV to get noticed and the years working in a similar role with C++ and safety crucial systems is not enough? Should this person just apply to entry roles since they aren't Senior working on AV they are only Senior working on Medical Products? It seems like there is always the line in BQ that says (Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, or drones operating in a real-world environment) which would never be met unless you were already in the industry or did school projects.
@@AmyMiller Awesome because this is what i'm trying to do now, lol. It would also be interesting to see if this is treated differently between Web related jobs, where industry experience may be less important compared to my situation of Medical vs AV which industry experience would be a plus in each. So does this boil down to a skills vs domain knowledge issue? Does Webdev do more skills based hiring where Medical and AV wants to hire more based in domain knowledge in addition to skills?
Yesssssssss Amy! We need to keep fighting against the crazy ATS BS being spread out there and keep reminding job seekers HUMANS are reviewing resumes and HUMANS are making the hiring decisions.
