While Ser Lancelot dad owns his team, at least he's a nice bloke and kinda likeable. Mazepin on the other hand, this guy has punchable smug face that have unlikeable persona and his sportmanship is questionable.

You're right about Haas considering Perez. Lots of Mexican sponsors, more money, and a seasoned veteran that WILL give results and help develop a car in time for the 2022 changes. Pair him with another free agent like Hulkenberg, and I will def be a Haas fan for sure. They might gain a little bit of ground next year, but I kid you not if they play their cards right they'll certainly gain a lot more ground in 2022 with all that financial backing and experienced drivers behind them.

While Mazepin and his dad's money are one option, there's another Russian F1 prospect by the name of Robert Shwartzman. Shwartzman's main backer is one Boris Romanovich Rotenberg - a wealthy oligarch and close associate of the president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. He owns, among other things, SMP Racing (the motorsport branch of his SMP Bank) which has supported many Russian racing drivers in various series and has good relations with Ferrari, where Shwartzman is their academy driver along with Ilott, Mick Schumacher, Marcus Armstrong and Giuliano Alesi. We could very well see Mazepin Sr. and Rotenberg team up to create an all-Russian (and by extension government backed) F1 team (after the failures of MF1 and Marussia, third time's the charm?) for their drivers. The thing with Perez and Hulkenberg is that for them there's a bigger fish to fry - Alex Albon's seat at Red Bull. If you have read the recent news, Christian Horner and Helmut Marko have basically said that they may look outside of their own drivers (by this they mean Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat from AlphaTauri as well as their F2 driver Yuki Tsunoda) should they decide to get rid of Albon (more like demoting him to AlphaTauri which could be a blessing in disguise for the Thai driver). When there's a seat openining at one of the top teams, Checo and Hulk would jump on this opportunity in a heartbeat - who cares if they'll be mere stooges for Max "the golden boy" Verstappen. Even Williams is more perspective option with the new ownership (even though they won't be stupid enough to dump a future star in George Russell, won't they?) than Haas

Great video Will. I’m not too familiar with Nikita as a driver/character but you highlighted everything really well. There are more deserving drivers but he’s getting the seat simply because he has a rich dad. Not that this is new, just annoying to have another one. He’s also quite disliked for his behaviour in Spa when he had a full on tantrum when Tsunoda won. I get that post-race penalties aren’t the best especially if they alter the outcome of a race, but he took it to another level. Anyway, I hope someone like Ilott can find a free seat in F1 eventually.

This was so disappointing when I first heard about this. I've been enjoying this massively intense battle in this years F2 between Schumacher, Illot and Schwartzman, for which Ferrari Academy drivers will earn the spot in F1. Only to find out this guy will probably get a drive no matter what happens. But then again, the line ups haven't been confirmed yet.

Can’t Haas see the partner with idiots totally destroys their name and reputation. No one in 2020 wants to be associated with a person like Mazapin. This not only hurt Haas but the whole F1 brand. The only thing they can do now is get rid of him an minimize the damage. I don’t understand Haas driver strategy with two rookie drivers next year. They need experience to develop the car. They are at the bottom of the field right now. This is the second time money clouded their judgment in a short time. After the energy drink fiasco they should have learned.

I think that Grosjean, Stroll, Checo don't deserve any comparison with Mazepin. These 3 are way nicer, fair-play, and respectful than the new Haas driver.

Haas will be at the back of the grid again, which is a shame for Schumacher because he is a geniune good driver that just needs experience. I couldn't be happier that Mazepin is at the back of the grid next year, where he deserves to be. Let's hope he doesn't get far into his F1 career

I think Nikita Mazepin will be like Sir Lancelot Stroll. Almost universally disliked, a pay driver, and rather poor in his early seasons save a few decent performances.

Think he's had a good season this year on track. The expectation from him after an underwhelming season last year and with a new team to the series (all be it Hitech who are no mugs) was pretty low but he's shown pace. There have been far worse drivers in F1. His attitude off track though absolutely stinks. He just comes across as the spoiled rich kid who can get away with murder and not care about consequences, someone with all the social awareness and grace of Santino Ferrucci. He makes Max look considerate. I appreciate that most drivers who get to F1 tend to come from a certain background of comparative wealth but that doesn't mean they have to be a terrible human being, I can't think of any on the current grid who seem a complete lost cause but I don't think there will be many people spending money on Mazepin merchandise. The new Grosjean? Romain shouldn't be mentioned in the same paragraph as this character.

This is why I miss the old "Speed" channel in the US, which had regular coverage of F3000/GP2/F2. If I had to guess Old Man Mazepin is going to buy Haas outright, as Mr. Haas seems to have run out of patience and would be happy to unload his operations on a sucker.

Idk, of course he is not the ideal driver for haas, but I consider him very decent driver. And honestly I don't think HAAS got any more options for money. I don't see checo in Haas because he said that he wanted a good project and honestly haas are not the best option.
