I have a 1986 PRS with birds. Serial # 6 1389. Bought it at Washington Music Center. Went in to buy a Strat. The following week I went to Annapolis to visit his factory and he walked me through the entire shop and introduced me to all 22 employees. As I left he signed the only PRS poster he had at the time. Guitar is still amazing today and the poster is a cherished reminder of a day I will never forget.

I have currently got 7 prs guitars, I've had probably 15 over the course of my life and there is nothing else out there That rises to the level of what Paul Reed Smith is doing. I have several other types of guitars but those are my showcase guitars. Paul is on a quest to build the perfect guitar and I Occasionally laugh when I pick up one particular instrument because if I ever had the chance to meet Paul I could tell him that he could stop his quest. He built the perfect guitar in 2009. It is a violin burst nitro finish custom 22 known as a pf09. For me it is the ultimate guitar. I would love to get the opportunity to hand that guitar to him And see the expression on his face when he started to play it. And the funny thing is I am not a musician. I am a trucker. I drive around the country all year long and in the back of my semi I have a small little amplifier and one of the most exquisite guitars ever made. I love this video. 10-4

Just bought a CE24 and have to say I was apprehensive to drop that much but now I can say I don't regret it at all. No, an expensive guitar does not make you play better, but I've never been so inspired to learn and progress since I've bought it

I was not a PRS guy until I ran into, and bought, a CE semi hollow, Love the pattern thin neck and the satin finish on it. It's my benchmark guitar now. I also just bought a $3,000 Charvel USA select, which I also like very much, but the $2,000 PRS has a slightly better fit and finish.

I am Fender guy, but I have been seriously looking at PRS. I have played a few within my price range (no selling the house to buy a guitar). Even what PRS considers entry-level or mid-range models are amazing. In addition, I very much love these videos. There is so much nastiness, but Casino consistently bring an appreciation of the craftsmanship that goes into instruments without ignoring the flaws.

Ben Thanks so much for taking the time to watch this and for your kind words. We really love the guitar world and do love focusing on the positive and amazing work that is coming form the manufactures now. Well...sometimes they goof up pretty ferociously and need to be called out for it but in general it is a group of great people trying to make amazing instruments! Do check out some of the new S@ lines in the McCarty flavor that are just coming out. They are really nice at a great price! Thank you again for your kind words!

I've got my first PRS (a Custom 24-08 10-Top in the Violet Blue Burst finish) back in February. I have a tough time putting it down. I've always loved playing guitar but playing it on my PRS literally has made me fall in love with playing all over again. My wife asked me how I keep from getting bored playing... she recently left to go meet up with some girl friends at like 10am with me jamming on my PRS and returns at 7pm and I was still there banging away. Everything you said is on point, they are set up great out of the box, it's like the thing plays itself. I wrote like 3 songs out the gate that were very different from the style that I normally write in just because I was inspired by the tone of the guitar. There's something about this guitar that to me feels like magic.

I just bought a PRS single-cut Santana SE, absolutely love it. My favorite guitar ever, and I’ve been playing for 50 years and owned some high-end Gibson, Fender and a few PRS Core series. The single-cut Santana SE is essentially a 24-fret Les Paul with a PRS tremolo, simplified controls, and great pickups. I love the neck, a bit wider and fatter than my PRS Custom 24 pattern thin neck. And under a thousand bucks!

I love Strats and Teles and Les Pauls and 335s... I recently bought a 2018 Gold PRS DGT... and man, is that a great guitar too... so good. So many great tones to be had from the bridge pickup alone with the volume knob and a trem that feels and works perfectly.... definitely recommend trying one!

I bought a Custom 24 during COVID, which means, I couldn’t see it, touch it, or play it before buying it. I was completely blown away when it arrived. I couldn’t find anything close to a blemish or defect. It is perfect. I still love my Strat, but this PRS is so freaking awesome. I can tell that the people who made this guitar put some love into it.

I wish people would put their brand bias to the side and just recognize and appreciate a great guitar for what it is. If it plays great, built right, and inspires me, I want it. This just happens with PRS guitars more often for me.

My youngest son started playing guitar when he was 7 on a 3/4 scale Squire Strat. After 6 months I found a deal on a 4 month old PRS SE24 Standard that I couldn't pass up and we got it for him for Christmas. His guitar teacher was amazed at the quality of the guitar (he has USA Strats, Teles, LP Goldtop, etc). He told my son and I that there is no way this should be considered an entry or mid level guitar. My son loves it and it still inspires him to play 3 years later.

I started learning guitar late in life just a couple years ago when I retired from my fire department career. So, I had a little money saved and was lucky enough to buy a 594 semi hollow as my first guitar. I've since bought a Custom Shop Fender (Midnight Blue Clapton) and a really nice Ibanez. I love them all and the PRS is by far the one that plays the best and looks the nicest. You're so right about it being its own thing- its own sound, and by far plays the nicest as far as my inexperienced hands can tell. Thanks for the cool video, I'm hitting the subscribe button!

I've always been a diehard Fender guy and was not drawn to PRS until I saw Tim Pierce play a McCarty 594 on RU-vid about 3 weeks ago. I ordered one that night, got it on Wednesday and am absolutely in love with it. I'll never stop playing my Strats and Teles, but the 594 is in a world of its own in every way - truly an amazing guitar.

Where do I start, lol. I could ramble a while about PRS, but I will make it short enough that you know where I'm coming from. I'm 59 and my father was my guitar teacher. In 1972 after a year of lesson's he knew I loved playing so he brought me to his buddies pawn shop and said pick out a guitar. I ended up with a 1960 LP and it cost $350. I have been a life long Gibson player. I still have my 60. I also have my father's 59, 55 gold top and his 16" L5. I also have a few 70 & 80's models. So I have the best of the best from Gibson. I have played some PRS's over the years and was very impressed with the instrument. In 2014 I put a SC245 in my hands and that was it. I fell in love with it. I now have 2 SC245's, fixed bridge Tremonti, and a Custom 24 Floyd. One of my SC245's has a set of MojoTone classic 59's and that is my main player. I have the sound of a LP with the feel and playability of the most perfect guitar I have ever had in the old geezers hands (59). People tell me allot that if I'm playing a single cut why not just play a Gibson LP. I tell them plain and simple that my PRS's are the guitar Gibson wishes they had built. Paul's crew builds the best instrument on the planet and he should be so proud of them!!!

I fell in love with PRS when I first saw one at Guitar Center the first year they opened in Tempe AZ. I went intending to buy my third Les Paul and saw the most beautiful color and wood grain that no one else was bothering with and didn't care how it played I was sold then I actually played it, a CE22 purple flame top and I forgot who Gibson was. I bought 3 more over the years a McCarty and a 513 but my favorite hands down was my Santana II Brazilian, it cost me $5k and I only got it for that because it was so pricey for my town that it had spent nearly 5 years on the wall. I never second guessed my purchase or had buyers remorse. Now for the hardest thing I ever had to do that bothers me 3 years later was sell that guitar to Guitar Center which as I'm sure you already know gave me $1800 for it but here in my part of Oregon G.C. are about the only people willing to pay out that much for my nearly Flawless guitar but I had no choice, my girlfriend of 12 years developed a condition called Polyneuropathy, a nerve disorder similar to M.S. and it takes hold fast. We go our eviction notice one day after rent was due and I drove 4 hours to Guitar Center and that was that, couldn't think about it just had to do it. Since she was about the only thing I loved more than that guitar I did what I had to but that's what it takes to separate me from my PRS and I think that says everything about the instrument. Some day soon I will own another. I think it is amazing what Paul has accomplished in the time he has against other who have existed for 100 years or more, he's right there. Best of the Big three, if he played by the same rules at least one of them would no longer exist.

I was a B.C. RICH ESP Heavy metal sorta guy in my early days. And I have one Kerry king bc rich too, but after some years of playing or I'd say being in that area of building and understanding your happy place. Releasing your pain in the music you play. I realised I'm more of a guy who loves Sweetness. It's not shrill treble sharp heavy sounds it's not bass heavy like fenders it's sweet. I walked into the store picked up the costliest Epiphone Gibson and Fender acoustic, but then the moment I had my hands on a very very economical PRS Angelus and the way fishman works on it. I was swayed away. It's sweet it's not heavyy like a fat or a deep bass it's heavy as in a mildly deep tone with a good feeling it's highs are sweet and I just love it.

Dig the way you speak in a direct, honest, candid and personal way. First time on your channel but not the last for sure. I too am a Fender and Gibson guy. My mains these days are a 2001 American Deluxe fat Strat (Crimson transparent red....unreal!), and a Les Paul ES (semi-hollow LP....bad back....). Been playing for about 35 years, also own several imports (Ibanez, etc..) Just 3 weeks ago I did the mistake of dipping my big toe into the PRS world with their entry level SE Custom 22 (vintage suburst). Similar reaction to yours......Oh boy what have I done..... Still can't believe I'm playing an import under $1000 by the feel and sound of it. I had a good hard laugh when you mentioned having to convince your wife for the big purchase......amen brother! Ditto!

I have 15 core majority are PRS 24’s 22’s also an HB, a 594, DGT standard and a Paul’ s guitar., they are my comfort zone I play more at ease on them. Met Paul numerous times but the 1st time sticks out always to me, My wife and I took a ride to CT to a clinic he was doing and it was in Oct but cold as hell and my wife was freezing. Paul walked out to say hi to everyone before we went in and saw my wife was freezing asked her if she was cold turned aro7nd went inside and came back out with his jacket and put it on my wife to wear till we all went in. That spoke volumes with both of us as well as everyone else there, Paul is a special guy and just cares about what he puts out and it filters down to the people that work there and the ones that play them.

Very very good video. What you said about the action on the guitars is so true. It is just one of the many reasons I'm all about prs. It just feels so great to play. I am also in the process of convincing my wife to let me get a core. I have a ce 22 25th anniversary but I really want a McCarty 594 or a Tremonti...or both. I wish they would rework the 24's they don't sound great that is my only thing and that started happening fairly recently they started making a ton of those and cut back on the 22's. Not really sure why.

Had a guitar teacher in college recommend them. At the time they seemed outrageously expensive, especially for a non working student. Saw one in a small guitar shop in Parkville, MO a year later while in grad school. It was pre-owned, 1996 custom 22, dot (no birds, that was just becoming a thing) with a fabulous top. Like new condition. $1,100. Couldn’t pass it up, borrowed the money. I still have it today, and it’s still my favorite guitar. I’ve got custom shop Fenders and vintage Gibsons, even a couple of Suhrs, and I still play this one more than any of them.

I hadn't even considered one until a few years back. When Andertons bought up a bunch of those satin black ones that were for the Euro market, super cheap, and were then knocking them out super cheap. I got one of the Zach Myers semi hollow ones, for 450 quid. Aside from a Japanese built Ibanez I've got, this thing is the most perfect thing out of the box I've ever bought. Factory set up on it is mint. Nothing has ever fallen off it, and there's no imperial sized tools required. Aside from swapping the strings to 10s, it's needed zero work on it. And it sounds amazing. It's made in Korea. I don't know where newer ones might be made. But I'd have another Korean built guitar in a heartbeat.

I started with Squier Stratocaster back in the 80's, but I've dreamed about PRS for 29 years, from the day I saw and played one in a music store. A few years ago I even built a copy of PRS for myself. But there was always the price issue. And I had built electric guitars, even more so, because I could make quality guitars myself with 500-600 dollars. But there was this dream. So, finally last December I bought a used, mint condition PRS standard 24 custom (2005). And it's exactly as awesome as I expected. The day before yesterday I bought another one, PRS singlecut 10-top (2006). Now I only dream about more Paul Reed Smith guitars.

CE seems to be a good introduction into PRS, especially for Fender fans. I always had a meh response to PRS necks, until I found the CE.

I finally bought a PRS after drooling over them for decades. I had students and bandmates that had them but was tricking myself into believing that my Fender, Gibson, Ibanez etc. stuff was sufficient. I got to a point and age where I just finally ponied up for a core. Best thing I ever did!!! However, It will never leave my studio!! It's because probably the guitar I should have bought way back when I was touring, and it is to beautiful and perfect to let that happen to!

Great story. I have been a big fan of PRS since i was a kid i'm now 33 and have owned 1 first run singlecut and a limited edition custom 22 brazilian rosewood 170/500. I sold them both. I regret selling the custom 22 But i got a Martin out of the deal. Years later i got a singlecut semi hollow S2 that has become my favourite guitar. I owned a gibson midtown before the S2 and sold it because it would never stay in tune properly, i got so frustrated i traded it in that day, and put the money towards a PRS that i have now owned 5 years. They stay in tune, play flawlessly sound awesome and look beautiful.

I’ve always been a Fender/Gibson guy as well. I have a Tele and a Strat I wanted an LP to fill my humbucking role. However I think I’ve switched that guitar now and want a PRS McCarty 594 in Orange Tiger! Paul just seems like the real deal and I’d like to support him. Now I just need to convince my wife...maybe for my 40th birthday next year.

I've only played two PRS, but they didn't sway me away from Fender or G&L. I don't own a Gretsch, but I've found those to be very easy to play. Best necks I've played were the 2 wolfgangs I owned years ago. One of the things that bothers me about Paul is that he believes in tonewood for electric guitars. Good video though! Peace, ChrisG

also a big fan of G&L here. I recently (and reluctantly) sold a Tribute ASAT semi hollow. It was the best feeling guitar with that "buttery" feel I've really ever played under $2000 beating most American Fender Tele's and Gibson Les Paul's I've owned. I will absolutely own another G&L someday soon. If there's one takeaway I will say PRS has had the most consistent quality control of any manufacture I've had experience with. I've picked up McCarty's, Silver Sky's, SE models of all types and they've been great, jangly, 'buttery'. I can't say the same with any recent major brands like Fender, Gibson, even D'Angelico. Not sure if it's the dry desert climate here in Arizona but I always have gripes regarding action/intonation/sharp frets/etc with a lot of major brands out of the box. PRS, not so.

I have a multi stand of FCS and Gibson.. but at the end I have a 10 top McCarty 594 - which for me is my go-to. Great video and I think once people understand that most PRS owners have been the die hard Fender/Gibson types, they’ll be more inclined to take the plunge and buy one.

Raised and still live in the UK, I was a fender guy for soòo long until I bought a beat up, well giged prs custom se 22, even just looking at it made you think fire wood! But I still bought it (very cheap tho) got it home, plugged it in to a Engl screamer 50 and the dam thing blew me away, after that I cleaned it and changed strings etc etc it's no swan but maybe a nice ugly duckling now, however I now own a prs custom 24 and a 35th anniversary Fantastic guitars. I love my PRS, and my Fenders, and my Gibsons, and my..... I have a few. Listen, PRS since 2007 has completely changed their game, and it comes down to pickups. Best build quality in the industry and best necks although that's a preference thing. I have Custom shops Tele/Strats which I adore, and have a DGT, 594, and CU24. I would say my DGT is my fav, but my 594 which is only 6 month old is getting a lot of use. I didn't think I'd like the 594 due to it's neck being larger, but it's so comfortable and I have no issues playing it with my smaller hands. But I still love my strat too. I'm a true believer in if you want a LP sound, buy an LP. If you want a tele sound then buy a tele. PRS offers something a little different sound wise, although their split coils which are best in the industry imho can do 80% of the other brands sounds. PRS is the ONLY brand in electrics I feel comfortable buying online without playing first. They are so consistently build. Also the only ones that stay in tune lol. Also a very friendly community, head over to their forums. It's not like the TGP nonsense.

I never cared for PRS guitars until I saw the McCarty 594 in my local store. I had been saving for months and finally had enough for a White Les Paul Custom (they were $5500 at the time in Canada). I wound up doing an AB test between the two and was blown away by the PRS, so much so that if it had been finished in a different colour I would have chosen it over the Les Paul that I’d dreamed of owning for years

Same, same. Always been a Gibson -- Fender player (even if not particularly good at it). Tried a PRS years ago and made zero connection. Got my first PRS a few months ago and can't put it down. Of course, I have always had similar experiences with a new Gibson or Fender -- the new guitar is the instant favorite. However, at this point I am not so sure that the honeymoon will end! This guitar is so good for so many things, plus super comfortable to play.

My first guitar was a Gibson Les Paul. Loved it, still do. I have Fenders, Jackson's, Ibanez’s, you name it. I still loved my Les Paul the most. Until one day someone handed me a Custom 22. My world was never the same. The sound is unlike anything I have ever heard. All my guitars are setup with the quick connect for the guitar straps as I have one favorite strap. A 4” soft doe skin strap. Most of my guitars are on hangers in the living room. If you were to come over, no matter the day or the time, that strap is on my PRS Custom 22.

I just bought a PRS S2, which is the most expensive guitar I've ever had, and it had several issues out of the box. Intonation was off, it was binding at the nut, had some scratches on the finish and fretboard, and the tone knob crapped out. However, I did get it fixed into working condition and it is a great guitar. It plays like a dream, the neck is really nice. It is also quite a beautiful guitar and it sounds great as well. Crisis averted

I don't own any actual vintage guitars (well beside's a 1955 Gibson bodied National acoustic), but my first good electric guitar was a 1973 Gibson SG that I got back in 1977, and since then I have acquired multiple Gibson's and Fender's over the years and always considered myself a Gibson/Fender purist. Out of curiosity, I bought a PRS SE Korina Singlecut when they first came out about 7 or 8 years ago, and was absolutely blown away by it! A $500.00 guitar that stood side by side with any of my Gibson's or Fender's. I liked it so much, a couple year's later I got another SE Singlecut, this time a Bernie Marsden model, which is basically a PRS Les Paul, and I just love it. In fact I play it more than my full blown expensive 1995 Gibson Les Paul Standard Premium Plus. Now my wish is to get a "real" PRS (read that as a USA model) but these Korean made SE's are such nice guitars right out of the box it's hard to justify the added expense of the US made models. But to be truthful, I've never played a US model. You've probably played both the SE's and the US model's Baxter, is there a noticeable difference?
@CasinoGuitars
@CasinoGuitars 4 года назад
Great story David and thank you for sharing. There is a difference but I do have to say that I feel they have almost made the SE "too" good. It really holds its own in most models and the jump to the core pieces can be negligible if you aren't really sure of what you are looking for. That being said, once you do get the right core piece n your hands that connects with you...watch out:)

I picked up a Fender Concord at a shop in the early ‘90’s, played acoustic exclusively for… until Thanksgiving before COVID then I decided to plug in. Bought a Gibson Les Paul and I wanted to modify it, when I played it I would think, okay what’s the big deal. I bought a Thinline Telecaster and modified the heck out of it, I love it but I still need to file some fret ends. Got a couple of Epiphones, mods and fret work and they’re good. Sold the LP and bought a PRS (from Reverb, it was mailed) thinking I’ll have a ton of mods to do, but when I got it it was perfect. Smooth frets, perfect intonation, no truss rod adjusting, it stays in tune, sounds and plays fantastic. I’m a Fender PRS guy, Fender has so many options and parts, you can tinker until the cows come home. PRS over Gibson because the quality, if I’m going to modify a LP I’ll just get an Epiphone. From a guy who just plugged in.

Had a gold top DGT, it was kind of dark sounding. My second DGT had a Custom 22 neck and sounded too good for me to keep :D. The Custom 24 is my all-time favorite. I have two with the VB/HFS set and one with the 85/15 set. I don’t think I will ever get rid of them. They can cover pretty much every electric guitar sound out there.

I used to be strictly a Gibson guy. I had fought an LP for 22 years, through a fingerboard planing and two fret jobs. I got a used SE soapbar Singlecut for $250 to use as a back up. The fretwork smoked my Lester and the guitar stayed in tune better. Flash forward 15 years. I’ve sold everything except a non cutaway archtop and replaced it with PRS. After 50+ years of playing guitar, I found what gives me the sounds I hear in my head. Oh yeah, I’m just an average working stiff who has a degree in music and an absolute love for guitar.

PRS - hands down- best QC - right out of the box- play great. Over the years I have brought and sold 30 plus guitars….with the exception of a Trussart- the ones that haunt me are some of the PRS guitars that I let go… there is one that I will never sell… SC245 - Single piece top… short version- diagnosed with cancer in late 2008 - had cancer surgery 2-25-2009… at home recovering and awaiting treatments- saw this guitar come up on a site … absolutely loved everything about it but with things being what they were - was a bit unsure of what the future might hold. Decided to pass on it. But it haunted me ….Fast forward a year and a half later - and post surgery / treatment…. The guitar came up again- made the purchase - a week later I get the guitar- everything I thought it would be and more …. Looked at the hang tag - date of mfg was 2-25-2009 …. Same day I had my surgery… still kicking today - and still playing the PRS.

I was a Les Paul guy but PRS are on another level - the playability is amazing, fit and finish is flawless and they are so stable and rock solid - not just stunning to look at but stunning to play and a real professional instrument built to stay in tune for a gig - not a song... I have 5 PRS now - a 594, 509, Cu24, Hollowbody ii and a Special Semi-Hollow - all amazing, high quality instruments first and foremost, a dream to play and look stunning. If Gibson uses AAAAA quality on some of their guitars, the Core PRS must start at AAAAAAAA and go up to a AAAAAAAAAA - and that's just the regular tops - 10 tops are higher still....

I have been thinking about buying a prs for a long time I just did not like the arch top or carve top so after some years decided to go to this local guitar shop in the near by city from where I live to go check the what they had well they had an Ibanez some acoustics and a whole bunch of prs guitars so I picked this se custom 24 didn’t know what it was at the time, played it thinking this time sounds amazing and I played it through a peavey classic mini head with the 2 matching cabs and I left well on the way back home I was seriously impressed and I couldn’t get that guitar out of my head so then I get home and called them back and asked them if I had to go back to the store to put it on layaway or can I do that over the phone they said over the phone so I put it on hold now I have it’s getting close to 50 guitars and this one has to be the best sounding guitar I have paid 6 bills for this prs hundred that is and it’s worth every penny I have no regrets mine is mahogany with a maple cap or top beautiful guitar thank you for this video
