After building a Vans RV-8, and a Vans RV-10, we are now embarking on yet another airplane journey: a Vans RV-12. Watch our progress as we build an airplane, led by a teenager. #homebuiltaircraft #aviation #rv12 #vansaircraft
If there is a club nearby he can fly gliders a year earlier than powered planes and teaches good stick and rudder skills. Talk to an IA to log his time building towards an A&P rating. Can he be the primary building and get the repairman cert for the plane? Will be great for him to take to college.
Good video What is the overall budget to build a complete Van’s R10 , including the G1000 complete avionics and the engine Any specials tools required ? Thank you Eric
Yeah, in today's prices you should expect it will cost at least $150k and more like $200k all in. And yeah, lots of special tools required - but there are vendors who sell them all! There's a few other youtube channels just of RV-10 builders who are documenting their process, good education.
If the fuel were in the wings, yes, in the cockpit with my family, hell no!! Too many have already burned up in 12's, that were very survivable accidents!!. The last one less than 3 miles from me just a few months ago. Dick, put the fuel in the wings where it belongs. Very few take their wings off after built!!!
He will eventually, but it's a bit much for initial training, including getting insurance coverage. Since he has a few years yet, building the RV-12 felt like a fun project in the meantime, and he's all about flying the plane he got to build.
