Strange view you do have about straight people. Yes, a straight pride month would be really stupid and useless, but straight people are not all the same, you know?
No one needs only a month to dedicate to being proud of themself. You can be proud of yourself whenever you want. Queer or not, you can be proud for who you are and how far you’ve gotten. That’s what pride is. Being proud of yourself.
The reason there’s no straight pride is because there’s nothing to be proud of. Nothing wrong with being straight, but it doesn’t take any courage to be openly straight. To be LGBTQ+ and openly so means you _will_ face some discrimination at some point, but you are openly yourself in spite of that. That is something to be proud of, hence: *_Pride_*
@Brock Garrett you're not being mean doesn't mean everyone else isn't being mean. Some people being mean enough to make laws to legally end people lives for being something they don't like. This isn't about you.
@Brock Garrett why wouldn't you support people having the right to receive healthcare without discrimination, being able to marry the person they love, and not having to be afraid of being attacked for being who they are? what is so wrong with equality?
@Brock Garrett Not supporting lgbtq people means you support laws that hurt and kill us. guess what there is no middle ground here. If you say you don't care and have no opinion on the matter that means you do not care that people are being legally killed and tortured just for being lgbtq. You don't have to fight for us, but supporting is the minimum thing to do as a human being because all it means is that hey you don't actually like that people are killing us for being lgbtq. it's the bare minimum, literally not hard at all.
@Brock Garrett so you disagree that other people will do something because you don’t? Do you see how stupid that logic is? That’s like me saying ‘I disagree that murder is a problem. I wouldn’t kill someone.’

On a more jokey note, i remember last decade students in a nearby university were protesting single sex dorms, since a lot of them wanted to share a room with their partner or even just different sex friend rather than a stranger and one of the arguments they used was "it's discrimination against straight couples, since homosexual couples can get a room together without any problems.

Had I been someone who actually were gay, or trans, or whatever, in my environment...on the one hand, I might have woken up sooner to things and gotten out, but I could also have been another, grimmer, statistic. Put it this way: I spent a lot of puberty feeling guilt for being a normal guy. Read the NT sometime, especially the passage about looking at a woman lustfully being equivalent to adultery, and therefore a breach of the commandments...and then consider that if you're a normal cis guy in your teens that happens about every time you look at a woman at all. Always made me wonder why certain "Bible-believing" people never seemed to read that passage but instead certain parts of Deuteronomy and Romans. I got taught in school that my forebears had basically stolen land from native inhabitants and oppressed everyone they could in the world...but also produced nearly every famous philosopher, scientist, politician, writer, etc. Unpack that a little bit, though, you'll see that taking credit or blame for any of that's a bit weird; none of them to my knowledge are direct relations, especially since 3/4 of my grandparents were relatively new immigrants to the USA...but that's the way Platonic thinking works sometimes - categories become more important than individuals. pride month is similar to black history month. It happens to a group of people who were suppressed. We don't have Stright pride month for the same reason we don't have white history month, it's because they were not ever suppressed.
@@abbie6003 I literally said "If you only know American history you wouldn't know that". In countries such as the ottoman empire white slavery was a common practice and in countries like the roman empire slavery of all races was extremely common. In America this was not the case but I was looking at the part that said "white people have never been oppressed" which is historically inaccurate
Because straight people don’t obsess over their sexuality. There are no laws in the US discriminating against homosexuals. There ARE laws discriminating against homosexuals in other countries. Let’s protest against THOSE countries instead of parading across a city half naked.
Know the real reason why there’s no straight pride is because we don’t need any empowerment or support. We’re already strong enough and we don’t need to show our pride as we know that we are proud of who we are
Some people need to also realize that Pride is also a festival to remember the Stonewall riots. Straight people didn't need to riot for human rights, so why would we need a festival to remember something that didn't happen?
a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired. Hope that answers your question 😀
@@glizzygobbler2476 you thought you did something! 🤣 the definition of pride that you provided actually supports lgbtq+ pride month. Keep tryin tho bby! 🤪💅
Pride is the feeling of deep satisfaction and happiness for one's achievements and accomplishments. The LQBTQ has fought for their rights and celebrate the pride they have after so many accomplishments, heterosexual people didn't have to fight to be "accepted".
I mean straight people produce the vast majority of the world's population though, Humanity can survive without gay people but they can't survive without straight people.
In the vast majority of European countries and Canada there are very strict LGBT hate speech laws put in place where, if you even speak slightly bad against the lgbtq you got put in jail
Bro, now a days these pride marches include indecency, disgusting behaviour and exposure. It's not about the things that YOU guys used to stand up for ( love, acceptance, respect). Such marches and events are crap to be honest. And those people who want to include children in these puddles should be put behind bars
Very well said. I remember seeing a video of 2 guys with all this rainbow shit on sucking each others faces at a pride event, basically dry humping in the sight of children who were also attending & I was so perplexed!!! That is exactly why they get stereotyped as groomers. Kids don’t even wanna see mommy & daddy kiss. You think they wanna see Jim Bob & Pee Bo making out?! 😂
Excuse me kiddo, racism against white people is very real, found that out a few years ago. Chill with the crappy analogies, I'm not saying brown people don't receive racism, in fact some people commit hatrocious acts against them because of their skin colour. However I've been called a white boy and white bitch many times, wonderbread, some people say I blend in with the clouds, and even though there is a bit of fun to it, it still hurts. At first I was fine, and they kept doing it, and I couldn't respond to them without being cancelled, so I just had to take it. I literally felt ashamed of being white. Like what did I do wrong. I'm called bird shit sometimes too, like it's not my fault I'm white. I'm not racist like a select few of white people before me were. I just want to live a peaceful live. But for some reason, people will say shitty things for even shittier reasons. Please study up before u make an analogy like that. I don't want to sound like a crybaby c u n t, but ur just straight up wrong. I get why we don't have white heritage month, but they still get discriminated against, at least I do, that's the new thing now I guess. Please remember, not all people are racists. Amen 🙏
@@Kraekanthe way that people are acting these days are disgusting and I bet that calling someone white in the future is gonna be racist and calling someone black is not but years later it’s just gonna repeat and repeat and repeat again…
Personally, I believe it’s OKAY to be proud of being straight. Why does coming out make any difference? It’s more of celebrating WHO YOU ARE over what it is.
Yes it is okay to be proud of who you are if you are straight but that wasn't the point of the video. The point is while that is considered normal for you it unfortunately isn't for others and they get hated on for being okay with who they are. I'm happy you're proud of your identity i really am but I do hope you understand the issue is that not everyone has that privilege. Throughout history, the people of this community has suffered from discrimination and so many awful hate crimes and still does to this day...that's why pride exists. Overcoming that oppression and being proud of oneself despite the discrimination. That's what pride means. Straight people thankfully are not oppressed for the mere fact that they are straight and never have been. Also, by coming out some people are putting their literal lives on the line so it does matter. It really does
So basically what I'm trying to say is that I think it's more about standing up against oppression and being proud of who you are in spite of this oppression (that is still very prominent to this day)
@@anoran.7505 I just think people take it too seriously. It’s a sexuality, and? There is no need to harass others because they aren’t part of it. I recently lost two friends because I said I wasn’t big on supporting pride because of my religion. I was constantly called a homophobe before I had enough and left them all. People only focus on who supports rather than why. Scott Cawthon, a famous game developer, was THREATENED and forced to retire after he told the truth about his beliefs. It’s sickening how serious people take these things. Yeah, straight people should respect the LGBTQ community, and they should leave others alone. Not one group is in the wrong, I’m just pointing out the obvious here
@@Eternal-Theory that’s so dumb if your friends, I feel like you should do is just not be a dick and accept we might have other names or pronouns or maybe even a different identity, if it’s because of religion it’s fine and not homophobic, sorry about your friends (p.s. I’m a queer person, so this is from what I believe)
@@Eternal-Theory they seriously did that? I mean I would understand not wanting to be friends with someone not supportive of who you are(I just naturally stay away myself). I don't think it's homophobic of you though. I've only had some experience with homophobic people so I can't say🤔. But they usually don't have any respect at all and just want us to change. So yeah as long as you respect people (like use their pronouns and not judge their relationships) I don't think it should be a problem. Here it's really just wanting to be respected and not bullied etc so I'm quite surprised
While I get how some prudes are offended by folks cherrypicking the most out-there kinky Pride pictures and showing it to them, and while maybe some places should be better at keeping kink and kids apart during Pride events, it's likely the month is very much needed and should stick around until acceptance of non-hetero-standard people and relationships is pretty much equal with acceptance of hetero relationships.
oh god ok. there IS different sections at pride. major pride festivals do have closed off adult areas for more explicit things. HOWEVER. pride isn't kid-friendly point blank period. it's not just a party- it started off as riots and at any point can become a riot again. at any point it can become a bloodshed. it's just true. on top of that, pride's open display of sexuality is a key, integral part of pride. the kink part of pride has always been there and the open sexuality was on PURPOSE to normalize gay sexuality. yes kids go to pride, i remember as a minor having fun at pride, but it's like letting your kid see an R-rated movie- you know what to expect and pride shouldn't change it's values or push and kick integral parts of the event to the side to be more "family friendly" when it has never been supposed to be family friendly.
I make fun of straight people all the time. This means sarcastic commenta to my friends, not attacking someone and possibly killing them because they are different from me in a way that doesnt effect me at all.
Whenever my friend and I talk about romance she always brings up straight people like they're discriminated against. I brought up being called a slur over my sexuality and she compared it to a straight peraon being told their sexuality is overrated. Yes she's straight and always treats me like I'm straight or always has to say " as friends" when talking about meeting
I'm not saying there should be a straight pride in fact I think pride events full stop are a ridiculous idea but we should be able to say "I'm straight and I'm proud of it" without dirty looks.
@@OfficiallyOcean_old She makes a dumb argument though. Pride is when you take honor in something, or are very proud of something. Why can't I be proud of being Straight?
@@desireable9128 honey… nobody is discriminating against you people. Joking about the straights, yes, because cishets have been considered “the norm” for centuries and don’t go through oppression and treat the lgbtq community as if we’re trash.
Complaining that there isn't a straight pride celebration of any kind is like complaining that someone got a "Get well soon" card in a hospital, but they didn't, even tho they're not in the hospital
Well, at first I thought: you don't have to explain that. And then I thought: Right, you still have to. -.- Straight people usually don't think about it, incl. me, and don't realize that they have what you would call 'straight pride' every day (not just 11 months as some suggested in the comment section). It's just so normal that ... you know, we straight people have to not think about it. Prime example: me. See above. So, thanks for the reminder. I promise I will normalize LGBTQ+ pride whenever I have the chance by amongst others not pointing someone out and defending people when someone does point them out. Pinky swear. As an autistic female and having to sometimes fight ableism, but also just as a human being, I get it. Take care.
I mean straight people produce the vast majority of the world's population though, Humanity can survive without gay people but they can't survive without straight people.
@@ninjatortise8958 this same comment everywhere. the human race is gonna die out in less than a hundred years bc of capitalism and global warming anyways. who cares?
@@ninjatortise8958 this reminds me of when some people say "well if everyone was gay then we wouldn't produce kids." Like bruh, that's not the point. Not how the world is. Nobody is trying to turn other people gay. Just let people live their lives how they want to.
@@IndigoatTheTerrible Is this a joke or are you just being blatantly condescending? I can confirm that likely 0 of the people asking about it are Nazis. There aren’t as many remaining Nazis / Neo Nazis as you think there are, bro
@@Melsideee All or nothing. If we have a black history month have a white one. Gay pride month? Straight pride month. Or, have none of them. Picking and choosing seems weird to me.
@@sirisaac6225 ok but it does make sense to have a gay month and a black History Month. Think about how many places it's illegal to be straight. Oh. None. Think about a time where black people where treated better than whites and where white people were discriminated for their skin color and not allowed in certain areas. Oh. There wasn't. That's the point I'm trying to make.
